Did McCain deke Obama?

Barack Obama handed John McCain a gift when he attacked McCain by trying to associate him with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. McCain shot back quickly and the smack had to leave a mark. That was quite accidental and a tactical mistake on Obama’s part because it left Obama open to guilt by association and he has a lot of bad associates.
Did John McCain deke Obama with regard to how many houses he has? McCain was asked, in an interview, how many houses he and his wife owned. He said he was not sure and would have his staff get back to the reporter. Was this intentional so that Obama would attack him on a housing issue? If Obama were to bring up the issue of houses then McCain would be free to attack Obama on his shady house purchase in which a now convicted associate bought some property that Barry could not afford in exchange for political favors. This got no traction in the primaries especially since there was a picture of the same associate (Tony Rezko) with Hillary and Bill.
However, since Obama brought the issue up it is now an open topic and McCain is free to address housing. I would not think that the McCain camp would do this but it has been less than a day and they already have a Rezko/Obama ad out. Was that ad already in the hopper and waiting for Obama to take the bait?
It is hard for me to believe that someone does not know how many houses he owns but it is possible. I just wonder if McCain stumbled over that to give Obama an opening to take a shot so that McCain could counter.
While it is highly unlikely that this is what happened it is also unusual to see Obama make back to back mistakes. Both times he attacked McCain he opened a door that might have been closed because of the threat of claims of racism and “old news.” Since Obama opened the door, no such claims can be made.
I wrote earlier that Obama learned what a counter punch was. It would appear he has not learned how to avoid one.

Two blunders? How about calling McCain a cheater? How stupid is it to get in a pissing contest about honesty with a man who has, as precious few have, demonstrated such a devotion to “Duty, Honor, Country”?
From the faux seal to taking the flag off the campaign plane to not visiting the wounded in Darmstadt to …
The Obama campaign is the long awaited revival of Max Sennet’s “Keystone Kops”.
I don’t think that McCain was trying to setup Obama, but you do raise a good point. THe fact that the McCain camp was quick to respond with a Rezco ad does make you wonder. I think that thet were probably sitting on this ad for the right time and McCain probably unknowingly provided the timing.
It’s not really as much as what McCain did. Obama has been shooting himself in the foot with every statement he makes. Before he was making stupid remarks when he was not reading from teleprompters, but now he is making stupid remarks using teleprompters. Obama must have been out of his mind if he thought he was going to go to the saddleback forum and not be asked about his feelings on abortion.McCain to his credit has been playing with Obama in such a way, it is agitating Obama and is causing him to act out. Obama is going in the convention without any momentum, that is bad news for him. As long as McCain doesn’t do anything stupid, I don’t see how he can lose against Obama.
