Page Program Draws Many Applicants
Feb 6, 2007 Uncategorized
The Congressional Page program is alive and healthy. Despite fears that it would dwindle after the fallout from the Mark Foley scandal, more young people are applying to be part of that program.
The Mark Foley scandal, which last fall threatened to kill the congressional page program, has had the opposite effect: Interest from teenagers in the program is on the upswing.
Congressional officials attribute the increase to the old adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Whatever the reason, it is now clear that the national uproar over Foley’s sexually explicit e-mails — which led to the Florida congressman’s resignation and contributed to the GOP majority’s rout in 2006 — has hardly chilled the ambitions of young people who want to work on Capitol Hill. The Politico
It would seem that there are two stories here. One is that the Foley problem has not damaged the program and the other is that the Foley incident helped the GOP lose control of the House. For months all we have heard is that the entire election was about the war but this article indicates that the scandal helped take down the GOP. As I have stated, there are a number of reasons that the GOP lost, most of it historical precedent.
There is no word if most of the applicants for the program are from the San Fransisco area. There is also no word as to whether prospective pages want to be renamed as bookmarks. It seems that a bookmark is better than bending the page over…

Is This Scientist Reputable Senator Kerry?
Feb 5, 2007 Uncategorized
Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn’t exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was the first Canadian Ph.D. in Climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition.“Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and was a climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg.†. For some reason (actually for many), the World is not listening. Here is why.

Someone Set Harry Reid Straight
Feb 5, 2007 Uncategorized
The Democrats in the Senate want a non-binding vote on the President’s plan to send more troops to Iraq. The Democrats are a little upset because that vote was blocked today by the Republicans. I guess it is hard to have the same thing done to them that they have been doing to Republicans for years. Harry Reid is once again shouting the Democratic mantra that the election last November was about Iraq and the war and they have a mandate to do something. I will not get into that debate because I have stated many times before that the election had little to do with the war (Americans might not like the direction but they did not vote to lose the damned thing) and the results are in line with historical trends. The Democrats can not see that because they figure if they say it enough people will believe them (and the ignorant will).
I will, for the moment and for the sake of argument, say that Harry is right. I concede for the moment that the election was about the war and people want something done. So Harry, the people elected George Bush in 2000 and and using your logic that means that the people wanted a Republican President who would appoint Conservative judges to the many judicial positions that opened during his tenure. You and your idiot sycophants in the Senate blocked nearly every judge he sent up for confirmation. You threatened to block Roberts and Alito and there are judges who have been waiting for years for you to vote on them.
Also, Harry, the people reelected Bush in 2004 in the middle of the war. This means that they wanted him to continue to fight the war and to prosecute it to the best of his ability. They wanted to continue with tough questioning of terrorists and they wanted to keep Gitmo open. Yes Harry, using your logic the people wanted this because they voted to keep him in office when this is what was going on. How did you and your Democrats react? Well, you continually said that the election was not a mandate on the war or on his Presidency. You continued to block judicial nominations, you tried to close Gitmo, you softened the way we question terrorists, you had our soldiers arrested and tried while the animal Muslims who cut off heads and dismembered our soldiers were never pursued, and you continually talked about cutting and running. You let that idiot Murtha lead you around by your pointy little noses and tell America that you all wanted to cut and run, all this against the will of the people who reelected Bush to continue the war.
You can not have it both ways Harry. You need to either consider all elections mandates on what the person being elected is doing (or wants to do) or you need to consider elections as generalities with no one reason for the outcome. You and those small minded jackasses with whom you work want to believe that America made some kind of mistake electing Bush and that it is only through the leadership of the Democratic party can we common folk be set on the right path. Yes Harry, you, Kerry, Pelosi, Kennedy, and Clinton all know what is best for the masses. You know best how to spend OUR money. You know best how we should live our lives, what kind of vehicles we should drive and what we should sacrifice in the name of the almighty Democrat. Well screw you and the rest of them.
In case you all have forgotten this, you work for us. We do not work for you. We have the power to put you in office and to remove you. NONE OF YOU HAVE THAT POWER. We are your employers and we pay your salaries. We do not need you to tell us what is best and we do not need you voting on meaningless items that waste time and money. We certainly do not need votes on things that give our troops the impression that we here at home do not want them to succeed because all REAL AMERICANS want our troops to win the war. Only you non-patriotic, anti-American, defeatists want to see us lose. So do us all a favor and shut your pie hole.
I agree with Zell Miller. We should still be able to challenge people to a duel. I would slap Reid in the face with a gauntlet and challenge him to draw pistols at 10 paces. I might be able to get 3 rounds through the same hole before he hits the ground. I guess in all fairness he should pick the weapons. But then again he would probably just cut and run.
Since we are not able to duel I will just say that Harry Reid is an ignorant little man with few scruples who is involved in unethical behavior with regard to land deals and the gifts he receives. He does not care about our troops and this waste of time shows how far he will go to denigrate their sacrifices. He should be removed from office and placed in a jail. I know of one in Cuba where they would take real good care of him.

George W. Bush Causes Murders in New Orleans
Feb 5, 2007 Uncategorized
First George W. Bush manufactured a huge hurricane and steered it toward New Orleans. Then he blew the levees flooding the poor, mostly black, communities and now he has caused murders to increase and make New Orleans one of the deadliest cities in the Country. Last year New Orleans had 161 murders despite the heavy decline in population after Katrina. There have been 18 murders this year and that is one of the highest in the nation (per capita). The police are tired of arresting people for murder only to have them back on the streets within 60 days because of lack of evidence or because of a judicial system that allows violent criminals to spend pre-trial time out of jail.
It can no longer be denied and there is no reason to try to exonerate President Bush. The fact is he devastated the city with his evil hurricane machine and then he promised them money that he never sent. What little money they did get was wasted on over priced contracts. FEMA did not put up new houses and the did not the city so criminals prey on the weak.
America, the fact is New Orleans has always been a decadent city and there is enough sin to go around. The city has a poverty rate (prior to the hurricane) of 67% and most people live off one government program or another. People from New Orleans have lived off other people’s money for so long they do not know how to take care of themselves. The police department is inept and can not intervene before people get killed. Even with the reduced population the police are unable to keep drugs off the streets and they are unable to keep criminals from committing more violent crimes. Mayor Nagin is busy hiding under a bed somewhere and Governor Blanco is too busy crying about not being mentioned by the President in the SOTU Address to actually lead.
Many people who left New Orleans have found jobs and are making a go of it in other cities and they have indicated they will not return. Others have moved to new cities and continued their life of crime. Still others have remained behind in New Orleans to run their drug businesses. It is time that we took the decision to remove everyone from that city and to fill it in with dirt. They can bulldoze all the remaining properties and condemn the whole place. Then they can start pushing dirt into it until they have raised it up to seal level or above. If they want a new city they can try to build one farther inland, away from the water.
One thing is for certain. If they build a new city the first building erected should be a huge jail. Then, they should put criminals in there and leave them there for a long time. Without that, they will continue to be the deadliest city in the country and they will have no one to blame but…George Bush.

Global Freezing in Iceland
Feb 5, 2007 Uncategorized
The talk of the town is global warming. It is the thousand pound gorilla in the corner, or so we have been told. Global warming is supposed to be responsible for a number of natural maladies including the fact that some poor polar bears could not hibernate. Robert Kennedy wrote a nice piece about the warmth causing flowers to bloom and birds to come out in the middle of winter. He cited this as proof of global warming and said that this should help those who still do not believe. John Kerry told us that all reputable scientists are on board with global warming.
A couple of interesting things happened on the way to the global warming rally. First, Iceland is experiencing thick pack ice the likes of which have not been seen for decades. This is likely to cause a polar bear problem because the polar bears get on the ice and pieces of it break off and they end up in Iceland where they are promptly shot. Not good for an animal that is endangered. Nevertheless, the fact is it is colder there and they are getting thicker ice. Perhaps this will take up the extra water caused by Gore’s melting ice scenario and keep us from being flooded. The coldest temperatures of the year are happening all over and there have been back to back blizzards. Interestingly, some lunatic will find a way to blame this on global warming. [Source: Telegraph UK]
The second thing is that many scientists are bucking the trend and denying that global warming exists. I am sure they do not fit John Kerry’s definition of a reputable scientist, but they have done research and have come to different conclusions.
Dr. Shariv’s digging led him to the surprising discovery that there is no concrete evidence — only speculation — that man-made greenhouse gases cause global warming. Even research from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change– the United Nations agency that heads the worldwide effort to combat global warming — is bereft of anything here inspiring confidence. In fact, according to the IPCC’s own findings, man’s role is so uncertain that there is a strong possibility that we have been cooling, not warming, the Earth. National Post
So this guy says that there is only speculation and hard evidence. He states that the UN’s information is bereft of anything that inspires confidence and says that according to their own finding we might be cooling, not warming. Why do you suppose Kerry’s reputable scientists did not point this out? Perhaps their research grants and jobs would go away if the truth were told. One thing is for certain, there is not enough evidence (in fact there is NO evidence) to support this idea of global warming and it is certainly premature to spend billions of dollars to fix a problem that might not even exist.
Say no to Kyoto and say not to increased spending (and certainly increased taxes to support) for global warming until someone can show proof positive. Let us hear the dissenting voices and let us enter into honest debate without all the politics attached. Let’s get to the truth for a change.
