Arizona Law Is Working Already

And it is not even in effect yet.

Hispanics are leaving Arizona in droves ahead of the new Immigration Law. There is no way to determine the exact numbers but schools are reporting that Hispanic students have stopped showing up as their parents have withdrawn them in order to move to a state where they will “feel more welcome.”

There is no way of knowing whether the people leaving are legal or illegal but it is fairly safe to say that the legal aliens are not worried about having to prove they are here legally because they can do just that. The most likely scenario is that those who are here illegally and are worried about being caught are leaving.

The linked article describes such people and it only makes sense.

The Arizona law is already working because those who are breaking the immigration law are leaving before they get caught. The purpose of any law is to control behavior and make sure people are doing what is right. Since the illegals are leaving the number of lawbreakers in Arizona is decreasing then the law is working. The law is controlling illegal behavior.

I suggest that those looking for a place where they are welcome concentrate on California. That state has many sanctuary cities that are happy to have illegals there.

If the federal government were doing its job then the illegal population would decrease dramatically just as it is in Arizona.

  1. “There is no way of knowing whether the people leaving are legal or illegal…”

For purposes of legal efficacy, it hardly matters. Illegal aliens conceal themselves within larger communities of legal immigrants, who form a convenient exclave into which the police go reluctantly and tread very lightly. As such communities thin out, the illegals’ concealment is compromised, such that they eventually have to flee.

    It’s working.

Porretto makes a good point. From his perspective it hardly matters whether it is the legal brown people or the illegal brown people that are being chased away. What matters most is that brown people are targeted, searched, harassed and being chased away.

For an old, bald, white rightwing nut up north, this means “it’s working.”

I hope they go to his state.

      And another note of irony.

Francis is a devote Catholic. His church has been in free fall, mostly do to bills for three billion (yes billion) dollars worth of child buggery in the last half century. That’s a lot of child buggery even by republican standards. If it wasn’t for the influx of those brown people there would be even more cold empty catholic churches being turned in to museums and grocery stores.

So while Porretto, on his earthly sojourn, has to put up with people not nearly as white (and bald) as he, even when he moves on to his Catholic heaven (or hell if God hates cowards, and I think he does) he will also have to put up with the company of a great number of those brown people even in his glorious afterlife.

“The decline of Catholicism in the Northeast is nothing short of stunning,” chief researcher Barry Kosmin told Catholic News Agency. The ARIS report added: “New England has a net loss of one million Catholics.”

Pew findings about Catholicism were a jolt. The report said more than twenty million American Catholics have quit the church. That means that one-tenth of American adults are now ex-Catholics. The denomination would have lost *one-third* of it membership, Pew concluded, except for a flood of Hispanic immigrants who offset the outflow.”

      • Aw, little Darrel is back to make no sense again! Let’s see how he did this time…

        1. “From his perspective it hardly matters whether it is the legal brown people or the illegal brown people that are being chased away. What matters most is that brown people are targeted, searched, harassed and being chased away.” Who’s being “harassed” or “chased away,” little Darrel? As far as I can tell, anyone leaving — or entering — Arizona is doing so of his own free will. No law has made it illegal to become or remain an Arizona resident…that is, unless you’re illegally in the United States already. And that law, little Darrel, is a federal law.

        2. “Francis is a devote Catholic.” Actually, Francis is a devout Catholic. Or did you mean to type devoted? Either way, you should put a little more effort into checking your diatribes; they could use it.

        3. Whatever the sins of certain Catholic priests are — and the evidence suggests that the clerical “child buggery” plague has been exaggerated — they don’t bear on Christ’s teachings, nor on the Mystical Body of Christ to which the Church Temporal is an adjunct. Besides which, religious affiliation is a matter of faith. That makes it a personal thing, entirely independent of the creeds and deeds of others. But pray tell, what does my Catholicism have to do with the subject of BD’s post or my reply? Were you that desperate to find something insulting to say that might have some remote association with me?

        4. This “old, bald, rightwing nut up north” has no complaints about his locale or his physical state. My scars and wrinkles are my proudest possessions, even more than my academic degrees and professional honors; they’re the marks of a lifetime of effort, learning, and achievement. Oh, and the mostly black and Hispanic kids I coach in table tennis at the Community Center on weekends might have a few words for you, too, though I doubt you’d care to hear them, even if you understand Spanish.

Poor little Darrel! Few diseases of the mind are quite as crippling as envy. Perhaps you should pray over it awhile. God does smile upon the returned prodigal son, you know.

      • Darrel says:

I thought Francis doesn’t read dissenting posts? Good to see he’s changed his policy. He might learn something new. I could teach him lots.

Oh, and he has a question:

Fran: “Who’s being “harassed” or “chased away,” little Darrel?”>>

        DAR
        Brown people.

Fran: “…what does my Catholicism have to do with the subject of BD’s post or my reply?”>>

        DAR
Easy. You are glad the brown people are going away, and your church needs brown people to keep the doors open and pay the bills for three billion bucks worth of (“exaggerated”) child buggery.

I’m surprised a person with a Ph.D. (you forgot to remind us) needed a person with a high school degree to figure this out for them.

Fran: “Few diseases of the mind are quite as crippling as envy.”>>

        DAR
I’ll take your word on that.

ps. Thanks for catching that “devote” mistake.

  2. Big Dog says:

Of course Darrel distorts the argument to say it targets brown people. It targets people who are here illegally. By making the assumption that all of them are brown, Darrel exposes himself as a racist.

I say change the law and make the police check the immigration status of everyone they stop. EVERYONE. No discrimination there. The courts have already ruled that it is legal to stop everyone (even without probable cause) and check to see if they are doing something illegal.

Sobriety checkpoints are a great example.

If the Catholic Church needs illegals to keep it open then it is time for it to close.
