ACLU Destined To Destry America

This is from Jay at Stop the ACLU.

We have two recent press releases from the ACLU.

1. Gut National Security! We all know about the ACLU’s lawsuit against NSA, its FOIA request over it, and its constant urging of Congress for full disclosure of what should be classified information.

The American Civil Liberties Union today urged the House Judiciary Committee to adopt several resolutions that would formally request any and all documents relating to the illegal National Security Agency domestic spying program authorized by President Bush.

“The need for a comprehensive investigation into the NSA’s domestic surveillance is essential to find out exactly which laws were broken,” said Caroline Fredrickson, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. “

Notice that while they use the word “illegal”, and insist that laws were broken, they don’t even know exactly what laws were broken. WTF? I thought that in America that everyone was considered innocent until proven guilty, but all of the sudden per ACLU the government is guilty until proven innocent. The way the program is was explained, according to all lawyers that worked in this field, it is completely legal because it falls under the powers of the Executive branch. The President’s job is to protect the Nation, wage war when appropriate, and in this case approve by Congress when they said, “use any appropriate force necessary.” It is also the Executive branch’s authority to collect international intelligence, and the president does not need Congress’ approval. This comes under the “seperation of powers”, despite the fact that Congress does not like this. This is a never ending battle between the Congress and the Executive branch. Congress thinks that everything has to be run past it. When Congress says that it is the Executive branch that is trying to grab power….think….it is Congress that is actually the one trying to grab power for themselves.

If this were the only government effort to protect Americans that the ACLU opposed, one could easily write it off as a misguided pursuit of an absolutist ideaology of liberty. However, the ACLU seems to have a problem with everything dealing with National Security. They oppose the Patritot Act, airline security measures, searches across the board, and much more.

But lets get down to the real agenda.

To the ACLU, CIA means “Controlling the Intelligence Agencies.” That’s the title they gave to Policy #117. But even that is an understatement of what this particular policy calls for. “Completely undermining the Intelligence Agencies” would be a more appropriate title. It starts out badly and then gets worse.

“Control of our government’s intelligence agencies demands an end to tolerance of “national security” as grounds for the slightest departure from the constitutional boundaries which limit government conduct in other areas.”

Of course, its been obvious for nearly 70 years that protecting America’s national security is certainly not something the ACLU favors.

Here are some of the specific controls called for in Policy #117:

Limit the CIA, under the new name of the Foreign Intelligence Agency, to collecting and evaluatiing foreign intelligence information. Abolish all covert operations.

Limit the FBI to criminal investigations by elimimnating all COINTEL-PRO-type activity and all foreign and domestic intelligence investigations of groups or individuals unrelated to a specific criminal offense.

Prohibit entirely wiretaps, tapping of telecommunications and burglaries.

Restrict mail openings, mail covers, inspection of bank records, and inspection of telephone records by requiring a warrant issued on probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.

Prohibit all domestic intelligence and political information-gathering. Only investigations of crimes which have been, are being, or are about to be committed may be conducted.

Two former members of the ACLU, Richard and Susan Vigilante, conducted a thorough analysis of the ACLU spelled out by the Union’s Center for National Security Studies.

They wrote:

The ACLU opposes, and has fought in either Congress or the courts, virtually all “covert action,” most “clandestine intelligence” gathering (i.e. spying), and in one case aid to an important U.S. ally with a poor human rights record. The net effect of these efforts has been to hinder U.S. opposition to Communist expansion. The ACLU may, at some point, have undertaken some major initiative that advanced U.S. interests and hindered Communist expansion, but our research never turned one up and no ACLU leader ever mentioned one to us.

In other words, strip the intelligence agencies useless.

2. Enrage America’s enemies. Anything that enrages America’s enemies, the ACLU wants on the front pages of all the MSM’s newspapers.

In response to newly released images of abuse at Abu Ghraib, the American Civil Liberties Union today renewed its call for an independent investigation into widespread and systemic abuse in U.S. detention centers in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay.

Despite the fact that this is old news recylcled, the ACLU have pushed for more fuel to the hate America crowd’s fire. I say, let’s release the photos, so that those who rioted over simple 4 month old cartoons can completely destroy themselves. Either the ACLU has no concern over anti-American consequences to further release of an incident that took place over a year ago, or they are seeking anti-American rage to increase. Their position on this is at best irresponsible, and at worse prodding an already raging bull.

The ACLU has sued the Department of Defense for withholding photographs and videos depicting abuse at Abu Ghraib and other detention facilities. In September, a federal judge in New York ruled that the government must turn over the Abu Ghraib images, as well as other visual evidence of abuse, noting “the freedoms that we champion are as important to our success in Iraq and Afghanistan as the guns and missiles with which our troops are armed.” The decision is currently on appeal by the government. The ACLU said it does not know whether the new photos aired by the Australian “Dateline” program are the same photos being withheld by the government.

Investigations and punishment for these abuses are something we definitely agree with the ACLU on. However, the release of more gruesome photos to the public, running on front pages of magazines and newspapers does not serve any good, other than to further the hate of our enemies. More than 25 people of both enlisted and commissioned rank were held accountable for criminal acts and other misconduct associated with prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib. Several pictures appear to show U.S. soldier Charles Graner, who was jailed for 10 years for his leading role in the Abu Ghraib abuse. Many of these photos are even suspect of being hoaxes.

The Abu Ghraib abuses were discovered by U.S. troops and were being investigated before any of the photos were leaked to the press. None of this matters to the media and ACLU. Congress members have already seen the additional photos, and investigations and prosecutions have been launched. There is nothing positive about releasing these photos to the public, and no productive purpose other than fanning the flames of hate.

While there is major hypocrisy in the MSM response to the Abu Ghraib photos in comparison to the Danish cartoons, both are protected freedoms. While many called for solidarity with the Danish over freedom of expression, this was in response to the savage reactions of riots, and embassy burnings from Muslims. The release of more photos from Abu Ghraib to the general public serves no such purpose. They reveal nothing new or informative that we have not already seen. They have no significance other than anti-American propaganda purposes.

3. Defend America’s enemies.

The list is endless on this one. They have defended traitors funding Hamas, the PLO, and confessed Al-Qaeda operatives.

They have refused contributions from some of their most loyal donors because of anti-terrorism specifics.

The ACLU, in every position it takes in National Security issues, proves time and again to be against American interests. When you combine all of these things, is there any wonder why so many Americans question who’s side the ACLU is on?

Boy Scouts Still Under Attack

This is from Gribbit at Stop The ACLU

I know it’s beating a dead horse for me to continue to make the same argument, but the Boy Scouts have been an honorable organization since their founding.

In 1908, the Boy Scouts were founded in Great Britain by Lord Robert Baden-Powell. It didn’t take long for Scouting to make its way to the United States when an American was exposed to the helpful nature of the British Scouts.

In 1909 in London, England, An American Visitor, William D. Boyce, lost his way in a dense fog. He stopped under a street lamp and tried to figure out where he was.

A boy approached him and asked if he could be of help.

“You certainly can,” said Boyce. He told the boy that he wanted to find a certain business office in the center of the city.

“I’ll take you there,” said the boy.

When they got to the destination, Mr. Boyce reached into his pocket for a tip.

But, the boy stopped him. “No thank you, sir. I am a Scout. I won’t take anything for helping.”

“A Scout? And what might that be?” asked Boyce.

The boy told the American about himself and about his brother scouts. Boyce became very interested.

After finishing his errand, he had the boy take him to the British Scouting office.

At the office, Boyce met Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the famous British general who had founded the Scouting movement in Great Britain.

Boyce was so impressed with what he learned that he decided to bring Scouting home with him.

On February 8, 1910, Boyce and a group of outstanding leaders founded the Boy Scouts of America. From that day forth, Scouts have celebrated February 8 as the birthday of Scouting in the United States.

All of our lives we have heard of the cliche’ of a Boy Scout helping an old lady to cross the street. This is just one of the principles that Scouting was founded upon. During World War II when the availability of soldiers to conduct military honors at grave sites was depleted, the Boy Scout stepped up and assisted in rendering the heroes of our nation the honors that they so richly deserved. And this tradition has continued to modern day.

Each day, somewhere in this nation, a veteran who has died receives an honor guard provided by the VFW, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts. A Scout more often then not, sounds Taps over the grave of the fallen hero. This is a service that those of us who have served find comfort in knowing. We know that there is an organization which honors our service. We know, that there is an organization which teaches the ideals that we have fought for. Whether in actual combat, or in my case Cold War Veterans who were part of the massive build up which led to the collapse of our most threatening adversary. We know that the ideals that we’ve committed to protect are still being taught.

But now the most honorable of organizations for boys, who we can all agree are at greatest threat of going astray without the direction taught by Scouting, is in danger of being forced into becoming extinct through court decisions prostituted by the ACLU and other liberal groups who seek to remove some of the most valued principles.

Because Scouting does not admit women or homosexuals, they are a target who wish to make homosexuality main stream. Because Scouting teaches a belief in GOD and reverence to the teachings of faith, the ACLU and other groups have successfully had them labeled a religious organization. And because of this labeling, Scouting is being systematically removed from public lands under the ignorant assumption that if a local government permits a Scout Troop to use public land that constitutes a violation of the Establishment Clause. I’d like to know when Congress became involved in the decision to allow Scouts to camp in a local park.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Here is the latest attack on Scouting:

PASADENA – A three-judge appellate court panel yesterday gave lawyers a rapid-fire grilling over whether parkland leases San Diego granted the Boy Scouts violated the Constitution.

The hour-long session visited a host of issues surrounding a ruling in 2003 by U.S. District Judge Napoleon Jones. He found that leases for 18 acres of Balboa Park and a half-acre of Fiesta Island were unconstitutional because they violated the separation of church and state. The Boy Scouts, which require members to take an oath “to do my duty to God,” are a religious organization, Jones ruled.

The Boy Scouts appealed his decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, contending that the Scouts are not religious and that their constitutional rights will be violated if they are evicted. The Scouts’ lawyers have been joined by the U.S. Justice Department’s civil rights division.

The case began in 2000, when an atheist family and a lesbian couple, each with children, sued the city and the Scouts. They alleged that the deals between the city and the Scouts violated the establishment clause of the First Amendment, which prohibits government promotion of religion. The American Civil Liberties Union is handling their case.

The city settled with the ACLU and is no longer involved. The settlement provided that the Scouts could use the properties until the court case was resolved.

The appellate judges did not say when they would issue a ruling. The panel typically announces a decision three to six months after hearing arguments.

During yesterday’s arguments, Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, who acknowledged that he was a Scout, focused largely on whether the Scouts allowed anyone access to Camp Balboa in Balboa Park and the San Diego Youth Aquatic Center on Fiesta Island.

Boy Scouts lawyer George Davidson told the panel that everyone can reserve access to the property on a first-come, first-served basis.

But Judge Martha Berzon said that was unclear and noted some popular weeks in the summer are “blacked out.” She also noted that the park property is gated and wanted to know if people were only granted access if they had a reservation. MORE

Our heritage is slowly being stripped away. Scouting is an embedded institution in this nation. It contributes to society by keeping good boys good and allows them to develop into good men. Why would anyone want to destroy that? Because they don’t like our way of life.

Remember the ACLU was founded by socialists with an agenda to end war, to end poverty, and to make everyone in America the same. In the perfect Utopia envision by Karl Marx. But that is not attainable. It didn’t work in the former Soviet Union, it isn’t working in China, it isn’t working in Cuba, and it definately isn’t working in N. Korea. It is their goal to force the fates of those fail Communist states upon the United States. They, like most Crack addicts, believe that they can handle the addiction of absolute power.

But they have no control. As Lord Acton said:

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Boy Scouts are a threat to their teachings. The Boy Scouts teach morality and family values which are a threat to the power grab of the leftists. So the left is using the Boy Scouts as a stepping stone to accomplish the goal that they have been striving for 85 years.

Keep in mind what Hitler did. One of the first things that Hitler did was to ban Scouting and formed the Hitler Youth. What would Romero want once Scouting is banned? Probably make membership in NAMBLA manditory for all male children under 18.

Diplomacy In Iran

Stop the ACLU has posted an article about the nut running Iran. It is apparent from his comments that he is way out there. He wants the world to condemn the cartoon of the prophet and calls on Jews and Christians to join him. Imagine the very guy who wants Jews to “be wiped off the map” and hates America (mostly Christian) asking us to join him over a damned cartoon. Here is an excerpt from the post:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: The affront to the honor of the Prophet of Islam it is in fact an affront to the worship of God, and to the seeking of truth and justice, and an affront to all the prophets of God. Obviously, all those who harm the honor of the prophet of Islam…

Crowd: Death to Denmark.
Death to Denmark.
Death to Denmark.
Death to Denmark.

[…]

Ahmadinejad: As the representative of the great Iranian people, I call upon all free people of the world – Christians and Jews – to rise together with the Muslims and not to let a handful of shameless Zionists, who have been defeated in Palestine, to harm the sanctity of the prophets.

I call upon them not to let a few weak governments – which owe their rise to power to the support of the Zionists – support them in this ugly manner.

As I have said before, as far as several aggressive European governments are concerned, and as far as the Great Satan [the U.S.] is concerned, it is permissible to harm the honor of the divine prophets, but it is a crime to ask questions about the myth of the Holocaust, and about how the false regime occupying Palestine came into being.

ACLU vs Boy Scouts (Again)

The ACLU has been after the Boy Scouts for decades. They have tried every legal method to force the BSA to admit openly gay Scout Leaders. The Boy Scouts have moral standards and they believe in God, these two things are against all that the ACLU believes in. Despite the arguments of moonbats, the Boy Scouts do not have to allow gay leaders and that is their right. It does not make the organization homophobic and it does not make it discriminatory. The Congressional Black Caucus only has black people in it. The United Negro College Fund helps minorities (they don’t specifically claim not to help whites but it is inferred). Why should the Boy Scouts be forced to admit people who do not espouse their beliefs?

The ACLU is now trying to make it so the BSA in San Diego will not be allowed to use a park that they have been using since before it was chic to be gay. The ACLU claims that the BSA is a religious organization and that the park is a government owned park and this violates their skewed view of the establishment clause. They are aiming at the Boy Scouts though many religious groups use the park. The lesbians involved in this suit have never even tried to use the facility but they are involved in trying to hurt the BSA. Seems to me these lesbians are suffering from penis envy.

The “Non-Partisan” ACLU

The ACLU has opposed the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito. They have only opposed two nominees in the past and no surprise, they were both conservatives (Rehnquist and Bork). The ACLU would like us to believe that their lawyers know more about the law and civil liberties than a judge who has applied the law equally and fairly throughout his career. Unlike ACLU lawyers (Ginsburg et al) who have one goal and that is the denial of the civil liberties of most Americans. People at the ACLU can claim they protect civil liberties but when their actions deny the civil liberties of others it is easy to conclude that only the liberties they deem important and only the groups they represent are important.

Here are a few troubling things, according to the ACLU:

FREEDOM OF RELIGION: Alito argued that a student-led prayer at a graduation ceremony did not violate the Establishment Clause.
PRIVACY: Alito dissented in a ruling that the strip search of a suspect’s wife and ten-year-old daughter was unconstitutional.
PRISONERS’ RIGHTS: Alito argued that a policy barring prisoners in long-term segregation from possessing newspapers, magazines or photographs unless they were religious or legal did not violate the First Amendment.

I am no lawyer nor am I a legal scholar but I can say that Alito explained the first item by telling the Senators he applied past rulings that dealt with the right of an individual. He viewed the students who VOTED to have a prayer at their graduation as a collective individual and therefore they did not violate the establishment clause. I find it interesting that God was mentioned several times during the hearings and I believe that members from both parties invoked his name. However, in a democratic society when people vote on something the majority wins. The students voted to have a prayer at the graduation and the majority won. The school did not endorse the prayer and the students selected the person who delivered it.

In the search of the 10 year old, Alito explained that the warrant covered the people on the premises and that the police acted within the scope of the warrant when they searched the girl. What the ACLU and the rest of the anti-Alito crowd is not telling the public is that the drugs were found on the girl. They were hidden by the criminal in an attempt to break the law. Where are all the children’s advocates who are supposed to be protecting children from being exploited? The fact is, Alito was right when he said that if we do not search children at a scene where a warrant is executed, where do you think criminals will hide the drugs? I want the ACLU to explain how the police are supposed to know how many people (and their ages) are going to be in a house where a warrant is executed. If the neighbor was visiting, would he not be subject to search when the warrant was executed? It just seems to me that when you have a warrant to search the premises and the people on the premises it includes children. Once again, the kid had the drugs.

In the last case I would have to ask, by virtue of being a prisoner, don’t you lose certain rights anyway? You lose liberty so what next? Will the ACLU argue that locking up a criminal violates the Constitution because the person loses the right to roam freely about the country? In this case the prison would not let the criminal have access to certain materials while he was in long term segregation. Was he segregated because he was being punished and if so, was denial of access to certain items part of that process? Besides, how can denying a person a newspaper violate the First Amendment? They did not deny this person’s right to speak. They did not deny this person’s right to communicate. Are we obligated to provide newspapers, books, television and every other media to prisoners? Do they have to pay for these items or is the taxpayer buying them? Criminals already have more protections than the average citizen. Hell, they get to pray to Satan in jail while the rest of us are castigated by the ACLU for mentioning Christmas in public.

The ACLU does not want Alito on the bench because he uses common sense and practical application of the law in his approach and this scares the ACLU. They want judges who legislate from the bench. They want more Ginsbergs who will use foreign laws and the ACLU’s idea of law to decide our cases because they have a goal of communism in this country. We need to get rid of this organization before they ruin our freedoms and turn us into another North Korea.

As a side note, the ACLU is real big on crying about rights denied to Americans and then they talk about terrorists whose rights were violated when they committed crimes. Many of these people are not citizens. Hey ACLU, non-citizens ARE NOT covered by our Constitution. We do not owe them any rights other than basic decency. American citizens who commit acts of treason against this country are ENEMIES of the country and can be treated like any other enemy we capture. In addition, your organization is an enemy of this country and its liberties. I hope one day we can talk about how well you folks are doing down at Club Gitmo.
