McCain Wants Man on Mars
John McCain was at a town hall event in Florida when he stated that he would like to see a program where NASA put a man on the red planet:
Presumptive Republican White House nominee John McCain said Thursday he would like to see a manned mission to Mars as part of a “better set of priorities” for NASA that would better engage the public. Breitbart
Rumors that Las Vegas odd makers are giving 100:1 odds that McCain wants that man to be Barack Obama and that he would like the mission to start right after the Democratic Convention have not been verified.

Scientists have concluded that eating insects is good for us and for the environment:
But scientists claim adding insects to our diet would be good for us and the environment.
Crunching into crickets or snacking on grilled caterpillar is apparently a means to a nutrient-rich diet that also helps reduce pests and puts less strain on the planet than eating conventional meat. This is London
Mankind has eaten insects for a long time. John the Baptist enjoyed locusts and honey and insects are delicacies in many countries around the world. That does not mean however, that they are appealing to everyone. The problem here is scientists have concluded that these are good for us and good for the environment which means that insects provide two opportunities for the politicians in this country to mandate their consumption. They can claim that eating insects will make us healthy (which is not a personal responsibility) and that eating them will also be good for the environment.
I can see insects showing up in school cafeterias in order to combat the obesity problem. It would probably work because the kids would not eat. I can see it now. “Mrs. Jones, if you want the free school lunch little Johnny will have to eat the fried grasshoppers and caterpillars. Otherwise, you will have to pay for the meals.”
Instead of spending 30 cents a day to help starving kids in the world Catholic charities can feed them bugs (I know, a bug is a specific kind of insect). If it was good enough for John the Baptist it is good enough for starving Ethiopians. Besides, the scientists tell us that insects are arthropods just like crabs, shrimp and lobster. Sure, that will make them more appealing.
Rats are meat from a mammal but making that claim will not make them as delicious as a grilled steak. And anyone who has ever accidentally swallowed a bug knows how disgusting it is.
Please don’t let our government know about this study or they might just mandate insect consumption.
It is, after all, for the children and Al Gore will love the environmental benefits.

Chris Kelly points hatred in wrong direction
May 12, 2008 General, Political
Last week I was reading some of the news stories about Jenna Bush’s wedding and I was appalled by some of the comments written in the response sections. While some people were nice and wished the couple well, many could not resist the opportunity to bring politics into the mix and insult Jenna and her husband to be, Henry Hager. The comments fell right in line with those of people who wish that Dick Cheney would die every time he is taken to the hospital. I just wonder why it is that people are so vile they have to resort to this kind of behavior when the issue has nothing to do with politics.
The wedding took place on Saturday and this morning there is a hate filled piece over at the Huffington Post. The article was written by Chris Kelly and it is vile. He likens Henry to an accomplice date rapist and then insinuates that he would need to get some people to hold his new wife down while on their honeymoon. It is pure insanity and it is filled with a hatred that is unhealthy. His attacks on them are just wrong. However, the biggest concern that Kelly has is that Henry will be working for Constellation Energy.
Kelly goes on the talk about how the company is the 33rd worst polluter in the US and how it has applied to build a nuclear power plant at Calvert Cliffs, only 50 miles from DC. I don’t want to shatter his paranoia but there is already a nuclear power plant at Calvert Cliffs and it has been there for decades.
Kelly’s argument is that Hager is cashing in, you know, getting in on the action. God knows that the dirty Republicans are the polluters in the world, they and their accomplices in big business. Thank God we have the Democrats to run rough shod over the polluters or we would all be dying from the acid rain. Yeah, that Henry is cashing in by getting a job. I mean, he will have to work to earn a salary. He will have to produce something at Constellation in order to keep his job. He will make profits for the company so that it can feed big bucks to the Republicans who help them pollute.
The only real problem with all this is that while Chris Kelly was having an orgasm discussing the evils of Constellation Energy and Henry cashing in on his Republican connections, he forgot to look at who the “evil” polluters were giving their money to. Barack Obama received $19,350 from the company and Hillary Clinton received $23,450. John McCain received $500. This money came from the company’s executives.
The other problem that Kelly has is that Bechtel will build the nuclear power plant and their supposed ties to the bin Laden family as well as their past performance is a worry for him. For a group of people who tell us that we cannot stereotype and single out Muslims the libs sure do their best to single out Muslims when it suits their purpose. Regardless, if the Democrats are so worried about Bechtel why do they willingly accept money from the company that hired them? If Kelly wants to direct his anger appropriately then his finger should be pointing to the left.
I am sure that Chris Kelly felt a need to discuss this but I am sure he could have done it without attacking the character of Henry Hager and he certainly could have done it without likening him to a rapist.
Perhaps, in the interest of fair play, Kelly can write a piece about how Chelsea Clinton cashed in on her name and parent’s connections to land a lucrative job at a hedge fund. Perhaps he can investigate how she is part of an industry responsible for the problems we face in the credit and housing markets.
Bet that will never happen. Kelly is too busy pleasuring himself with sandpaper mittens and smearing young couples who have done nothing wrong.
Best of luck to Jenna and Henry. I wish them a long healthy marriage and much success.

Does Kentucky Derby Reflect Democratic Race?
The 134th Kentucky Derby ran this afternoon at Churchhill Downs and Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton placed wagers on the race (or at least they picked horses in it). As one might expect, Hillary picked the only female in the race but Obama did not select Big Brown opting instead for Colonel John (perhaps he was trying to get some military creds).
From the Courier Journal:
• Barack Obama has picked Colonel John to win the Kentucky Derby. He picked Pyro to place and Big Brown to show.
• Yesterday Hillary Clinton said she was betting on the filly, Eight Belles, to win, place and show.
• Neil Walkoff, the assistant general manager for Casears Indiana casino, is putting his money on Pyro to win.
Obama was wrong and his pick seems to show that he thought the Big Brown horse could not win while Hillary banked on the only “woman” in the field (her bet was across the board so she gets paid if it finished in one of the top three spots).
Do the results of the race show the future of the Democratic nomination? The Big Brown horse won and the filly (Eight Belles) came in second. That would seem to be a good omen for Obama and a bad one for Hillary though Hillary’s horse paid more to place and show than Big Brown did on Obama’s show bet.
An even worse omen for Clinton is that the filly broke both of her front legs in the race and had to be euthanized right on the track.
Sounds like that could be the Democratic convention. The Big Brown one wins and the filly comes in second and the party has to put her down…
BTW, I won on the race. I had Big Brown across the board and I had him with Eight Belles in the exacta.
