Immigration: The Raw Numbers

I received this from BJ1 via email. People can debate the ILLEGAL immigration issue all they want but until raw numbers are presented the magnitude of the problem is hard to understand. Look at these numbers and then think about what it says at the end. How much will it cost us when they triple the number of people here?

For those who say ILLEGALS are a benefit to our society, I would like to see figures showing they produce more than the nearly half a trillion dollars they consume.

Also note that the consumption of Social Security is nearly 400 Billion dollars. Any wonder it is going broke and is there any wonder why they won’t let us privatize it? They need us to pay for all these blood suckers.

   Check out these figures, has the U.S. Gone mad or is it just the people who are running it…

   So often, we get caught up in a debate over political semantics and end up ignoring the hard-shell realities of what we’re talking about.  According to immigration counters , here are some of the realities that the Flake-Gutierrez Bill would airbrush out of the picture:

Number of Illegal Aliens in the Country

       20,807,645

Money Wired to Mexico City since January, 2006

 $  22,213,001,672.00

Cost of Social Security Services for Illegal Aliens since 1996

 $397,450,739,563.00

Number of Children of Illegal Aliens in Public Schools

          3,958,789

Cost of Illegal Aliens in K-12 Since 1996:

 $  13, 965,063,431.00

Number of Illegal Aliens Incarcerated

            332,594

Cost of Incarcerations Since 2001

$    1,398,127,429.00

Number of Illegal Aliens Fugitives

            642,799

Skilled Jobs Taken by Illegal Aliens

         9,872,838

   Figures can trick your eyes.  Take particular note that items 2,3,5, and 7 reflect BILLIONS not millions of dollars — and that item 3 exceeds one-third of a TRILLION dollars.

   Can you imagine how much it will cost taxpayers if we triple the number of Illegal’s entering this country!!

Like The Immigrants, The Bill Will Sneak In Later

Ron Smith of WBAL radio in Baltimore has a saying that goes something like this; The Republicans are the evil party and the Democrats are the stupid party so when they team up on something the result is both stupid and evil. Case in point, the recent immigration bill that is going down in flames as we speak (until the beady eyed Harry Reid sneaks it in for a vote someplace else) was put together by a bipartisan group and supported by many people from both sides of the aisle. The usual suspects were involved including Kennedy, Specter, Reid, Pelosi, McCain, McConnell, Martinez, Chavez (Linda not Hugo though he probably likes it as well) and all of this was supported by George W Bush who has become so eaten up by his lame duck status and desire to have some kind of legacy that he would have sex with a porcupine if he thought it would make the Democrats happy and give him better standing in the world. We can discuss some other time what happened to that famous swagger and if a real man from Texas would ever lose it.

This immigration bill is both evil and stupid and does absolutely nothing to secure our country from the same kinds of invasions that resulted the last two times Kennedy introduced legislation to allow ILLEGALS a free pass. Fortunately, this bill contained so many pieces that it was fragile. It was, as many of these stellar leaders told us, not a perfect bill but the best they could do. I don’t buy this crap at all. What kind of idiot passes a bill that is flawed? Why would they pass something that might cause more problems than it is worth and why is this the best they can do? Are these people not elected to get these kinds of things correct and to do it right? It is the best they can do because they all place politics above the needs or desires of this country’s citizens. We have a republican form of government which means that those sent to Congress represent our wishes and in this case the majority of Americans want this bill stopped.

How could these morons have done a better job? Let the Big Dog school these people on how to get things done without making a bill that is bigger than the Bible (a religious book that is the basis for Christianity, Judaism and Islam just to help the liberals who might not know) and makes more sense. The first thing they should have done is to offer each of the major portions of this bill as separate bills. This way Senators could vote for those that were favorable and and against the ones that were not good instead of killing an entire bill because of a few provisions. This would also make the process more transparent and the proposed items easier for the public to understand. The damned bill takes forever to read and is full of mumbo jumbo that becomes confusing and leaves a lot of things open to interpretation. Single bills would allow us to focus and might not cause all the uproar.

It is also worthy to note that before we fix the problem we must seal the border. My friend Gribbit said it well when he said that when you can not treat a wound until you stop the bleeding. We must pass legislation that ensures we have good fences so we can have good neighbors. It should not be so hard to build this wall or fence or whatever they are calling the barrier. The US seems to be doing quite well building an Embassy in Iraq that is the size of a small nation so I am sure we can get a barrier up in no time. That would give the Senate time to hammer out the problems in the separate amendments.

The last thing they need to do is enforce the 14th Amendment as it was intended. The 14th says you are not a citizen when born here unless you are subject to the jurisdiction thereof. That phrase means you have allegiance to no other country, or as the person who wrote it said, you are an American citizen and not a citizen of another nation. The 14th and supporting documents as well as civil rights legislation passed at the time indicate that if you are born on our soil you have the same citizenship as your parents. This is how it was written, this is how it was intended, this is how the people who wrote it describe it so this issue needs to be revisited by the SCOTUS and returned to its original meaning and then we need to revoke the citizenship of all the people who were granted it illegally. For those who need a better description of subject to jurisdiction then read this. Suffice it to say that while ILLEGALS are subject to our law they are not subject to the jurisdiction because they are not citizens (or subjects of America).

Be vigilant because they are going to do an end run on us and try to sneak this through. Seems as if sneaking it in might be appropriate method for this bill considering what its subject is. If they do some sneaky stuff like that we should consider rewriting the Declaration of Independence to reflect us severing our ties with a government that has gotten too powerful and too corrupt.

Jobs Americans Will Not Do?

I was having a conversation with Ms. Underestimated and she indicated that she was wondering why they say that ILLEGALS do the jobs that Americans will not do when we have people on welfare who could do the jobs. She indicated that instead of paying people to sit at home they should be doing those jobs. Yesterday, while I was at my family reunion, we were discussing the immigration bill and someone said something about jobs Americans would not do and my sister commented that as long as we had people on welfare we had people we should force to do those jobs. These two sentiments are closely related and merit discussion because I believe that as long as taxpayer money is being spent on welfare then we have people who can go to work.

Linkfest Haven, the Blogger's Oasis

The first thing to do is look at welfare and the poor in America. Prior to welfare reform there were about 6 million or so people on welfare and since then (when Bill Clinton reluctantly signed the Republican bill) there are about 2.1 million. Obviously, 2.1 million people will not fill a gap that would occur if 12 million people were deported even if a quarter of them were working. There are, however, still people out there who we can force to do these jobs and help get them off welfare. We also have a number of people who draw unemployment who should be forced to work these jobs that Americans will allegedly not do. Obviously, we have fewer people available than the number of jobs to be done but that does not mean those jobs should be filled by ILLEGALS when we have able bodied people whose only exercise involves walking to the mailbox to get their government check. A guest worker program is a viable alternative and very important to keep the jobs filled if we do not have enough folks (rather than just unwilling) to do them. However, those who support giving our country away miss the point about the law and their argument is often “What will you do when you have to pay more money for produce?” or “Who will pick your fruit?” These people miss the point that as we deport those here ILLEGALLY we can bring those who have legally registered to be guest workers in here legally and continue doing the jobs. This way people who did things right are rewarded.

I do not want to abandon the welfare idea because I think it is valid and workable. Before some whiny liberal gets his panties in a wad, we are talking about able bodied people on welfare and not those with a legitimate need such as a disability. However, we need to remove people who have some trumped up problem that allows them to be disabled. Alcoholism is not a good enough reason to be disabled and sitting home drawing a check. Put them to work and they will not have time to sit around getting drunk at taxpayer expense. But back to the point. I think we should exhaust our resources before we rely on guest workers or before we make broad open statements that they are here to do jobs Americans will not. I have thought about Ms. Underestimated’s and my sister’s comments and I believe that this is a start but that we should expand this to the prison systems.

The prisons are full of able bodied people who are there for breaking the law and the only difference between them and the lawbreakers Congress wants to reward is that the ones in jail were rewarded for their crimes with a stint behind bars. Society foots the bill to keep them locked up. Our tax money pays their room and board, their food, their medical care and just about anything else a liberal activist judge deemed was important beyond the basics. How about we bring back chain gangs and use the inmates to pick fruits and vegetables? California has a large prison population that should be bussed to the fields each day to work 10 or 12 hours in the hot sun gathering the food that will feed the nation. These are assets we have and can force to work. The farms can pay them a dollar an hour that is put into an account for them for when they are released. The farms can provide fruits and vegetables for the prison system in return for the labor and that will keep food costs down. Maybe this can help defray part of the costs that we taxpayers incur for holding malcontents and those with anti social behavior in jail. Working them hard each day might make them tired enough to stop the fights and riots. It might also make them want to get out and stay out.

The idea that we need to have 12 million ILLEGALS here to do jobs that Americans will not do is ridiculous. Most of the ILLEGALS are family of the actual worker and with a wife and a number of kids per worker the actual number needed is far fewer than 12 million. The balance are those who suck the most blood out of our society and hurt our economy. By using welfare recipients and inmates we might be able to make up a large number of those jobs done by ILLEGALS and reduce our need thus allowing us to deport them without all the tears and excuses from the left. We can then have a guest worker roster that would be more easily managed and provide workers who come here when WE say and go home the same way.

This is intriguing and could work. Regardless, it has to be better than the Senate plan that President Bush loves because it is simple, requires no amnesty, gets rid of lawbreakers, makes criminals earn their keep, and removes even more people from welfare hand outs. Best of all, the plan would require far fewer than 1000 pages and would not be larger than the Bible.

Mr. President, I Will Tell You What Is Right for America

I have been a supporter of President Bush since he was nominated by the party over seven years ago. He was certainly a better choice than either of the Democrats running and I have generally agreed with his policies. I support the war on terror and the war in Iraq and I believe that we need to wipe out what people call Islamic extremism but what is really mainstream Islam. I have however, disagreed with him on several issues and the most important one is ILLEGAL immigration.

The President of the United States does not have a clue when it comes to immigration and securing our borders against an invasion from the south. President Bush, along with several Republicans, has sided with Ted Kennedy in supporting an amnesty bill that will ruin this country. I would have thought that these people in DC would have learned from the last two Kennedy sponsored amnesty bills that were touted as the end to ILLEGAL immigration but ended up giving us more ILLEGALS than before. They can deny that it is amnesty and point to sanctions but those sanctions will soon disappear and we will be left with millions of freeloaders who suck up resources and bring us down. One only needs to look at what they did to Mexico and what they have done to the towns they have taken over in the US to know that things will get worse, not better.

Petition Against Amnesty for ILLEGALS

I have designed a petition against amnesty for ILLEGALS and I intend to send it to Congress sometime next month when they are again debating this issue. Here is what the says:

To: The US Congress

We the undersigned, citizens of the United States, petition the US Congress to reject any immigration bill that offers amnesty or otherwise rewards people for illegal behavior.

The United States of America is a sovereign nation of diverse cultures living in relative harmony and producing some of the greatest gifts to the world. This nation, while criticized by some, is a beacon of hope for millions of people around the world who risk their lives and their life’s savings for the opportunity of a better existence. No where on this planet is there a better place to live where people enjoy freedoms unimagined in most of the world.

This nation was founded and built by immigrants who came here legally in hope of a better future. Those immigrants, inspired by the freedom of this nation and unbridled by oppression helped make this upstart country become the leader of the free world in a fraction of the time that many nations have existed. In just over 200 years America has shown what people who are truly free can accomplish.

This nation is at a crossroad and the actions of the Congress will likely determine whether or not America will continue to thrive. Illegal immigration tears the very fabric of our society and destroys us from within.

Therefore, we demand that the Congress of the United States reject any immigration bill that grants amnesty or rewards illegal behavior. We demand that immigration laws be changed so that the law enforcement of individual states may protect their state’s sovereignty by enforcing the immigration law. We recognize that proper enforcement begins with a secure border and therefore demand that the Congress enact laws that require the closure of the southern border of our country by means of a wall and provide appropriate means to do so as well as appropriate measures to secure the remaining borders.

Be it known that the below signed individuals, being citizens of the United States, vow to reject the reelection of any member of Congress, regardless of party affiliation, who votes to allow those here illegally to stay or be otherwise rewarded for their behavior.

One of the greatest gifts a person in America can have is the title of citizen. Do not cheapen this honor by selling that designation for political gain.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
