George Bush Saved The Gulf Coast
Sep 2, 2008 Opinion
Hurricane Gustav is losing strength by the minute though it will likely stall out and cause flooding in some areas along its path. However, the levees in New Orleans held, for the most part, and though there will no doubt be some flooding, the devastation will be nowhere near what it was during Katrina. This is because of George W. Bush.
Now I know George Bush did not rebuild the levees, he did not drive the evacuation buses and he did not open shelters to house people. In fact, all he did was lead from the top and provide assistance that state governors requested. But since the left blamed him for all the failures that occurred when Katrina hit, it is only fair to give him all the credit for the successes that occurred during this disaster.
It would seem ridiculous to give him ALL the credit when the five Gulf State REPUBLICAN governors worked together to ensure success by planning early and requesting federal assistance in a timely manner. However, since the president was to blame when state and local leaders were woefully inadequate he must be credited with the success when other leaders do their jobs well.
During the 2006 election season and during last week’s Democratic Convention we were reminded about the failures during Katrina. The stories about Americans being abandoned never mentioned the Democrats in charge of Louisiana as part of the problem. We were (and have been since Katrina hit) led to believe that this was a failure of George Bush and his administration.
Now that things went fairly smoothly during Gustav Americans must be reminded of how well the plans worked with REPUBLICAN leadership. America must be informed that George Bush did a great job when he was not hamstrung by a Democratic governor who was afraid to ask for help and too overwhelmed to demonstrate real leadership.
George Bush saved the Gulf Coast. I bet the Democrats who laughed about this disaster approaching are taking a second look. You see, when real leaders are in charge the probability of success increases.
I wonder if the MSM and the Democratic party leadership will acknowledge this amazing feat that President Bush pulled off. I imagine not since they were blaming him this far into Katrina and they have not said one word of praise since Gustav arrived.
The five Gulf Coast Republican Governors all worked well together and coordinated with the federal government. They were not lying in a corner sucking their thumbs like Ray Nagin during Katrina (he did a much better job this time) and they were not on TV crying about the destruction like Blanco did back then. They were leading people to get things done. Thank God Louisiana has Bobby Jindal as its Governor this time around.
I have little use for New Orleans and have been soured since the way people acted about Katrina. Having said that, I am glad that people evacuated and that the levees held. Those who stayed behind did so at their own peril and they are the only ones responsible for their fate. I pray for them and the rest of the Gulf Coast as Gustav exits and Hannah and Ike prepare to make their presence known.
Let us pray that the people down there get things back in shape before the next one hits.

DNC; First Night Observations
Aug 26, 2008 Opinion, Political
The Democrats are having their love fest in Denver and it was officially kicked off Monday afternoon. I have a few observations from the first night.
The Democrats theme is a Town Hall America. This is interesting since The One has refused to debate John McCain in a town hall format.
Nancy Pelosi looks like her last face lift was too tight and if they cut the know she would have to pull down her socks to see. She was either chewing gum or a candy or her dentures were loose because she kept making a funny face as if she were sucking a hard candy or adjusting her teeth. She lied to America (surprise) by telling them that Democrats have accomplished so much when in fact they have done less than any other Congress. The major accomplishment was a hike in the minimum wage which she forgot to mention was tacked onto a war funding bill or it would not have passed. She also stated about four things that Obama got right and McCain got wrong like the war. She failed to mention that Obama has voted for every war funding bill presented.
The other theme was how Obambi was a poor kid who grew up in the American dream. His sister praised Obama and his momma and how great she was to him. I guess that was before she abandoned him.
The speakers keep telling the audience how Obama was responsible for ethics legislation. There is no other legislation mentioned. They have said that John McCain is out of touch because he has been in DC for too long (no mention of Biden’s out of touchness). I heard them tell me how Obama has reached across the aisle (a lie) and how he is what America needs. I also heard them say that Obama understands the economic woes of America while John McCain said our economy is fundamentally sound. Then they said that their towns and cities and states are not doing well. All states run by Democrats, no wonder they are not doing well. Maybe that minimum wage hike is causing some of the problems.
Ted Kennedy showed up (which means he can get his butt back to work in the Senate when it reconvenes). It was an emotional (for the Dems) event as they all cried when he spoke. For me it was hard to tell the guy had a brain tumor because he sounded just as moronic as he did 20 years ago. The tribute that they gave him talked about integrity and doing the right thing but failed to mention that he killed a woman by abandoning her after he drove her into a body of water. They lavished praise upon him, I just wished he had left the Senate decades ago.
Michelle Obama, as has been the theme tonight, is talking about Obama’s upbringing and how wonderful their values are, how he always tells the truth and blah, blah. A lot like the Edwards’ Two Americas son of a mill worker blah, blah speech. It is a bunch of bunk. It is all how poor people depended on Barack who did not go to Wall Street (because no one wanted him) and how he was an organizer, blah, blah. Of course, it is all about the children and how Martin Luther King Jr would be proud. He was a Republican.
They invoked Go a lot and they talked about how much they love the military without telling us they do not support the military.
Of course there was the obligatory slam with Hurricane Katrina. Bush didn’t do anything, blah, blah. They did not tell people that a Democratic Mayor and a Democratic Governor failed the people and that liberalism led people to wander around aimlessly because they did not know how to take care of themselves.
It was pretty much a love fest and it was a pack of lies sprinkled with fell good sprinkles. It was full of the same promises that they have made during every other convention and have failed to bring to fruition.
It will be a long week of this prolonged circle jerk. The only good thing that would happen if he wins is after four years of failure we will come back stronger and we will be able to show liberalism for the failure that it is. Until then we need to find ways to hide our money so they can’t take more of it…
But I think John McCain will win.
What if Jackson had said Lynch Obama?
Jul 14, 2008 Opinion, Political
Last week Jesse Jackson was caught on a hot microphone expressing his displeasure with Barack Obama and he stated that he would like to “cut his nuts off” while making a cutting motion. The sound bite was discovered later by a person who was transcribing the day’s tapes. It was disclosed by Fox (who caught it) but before they did they contacted Jackson about it. He declined to discuss it but made a preemptive apology which was dutifully accepted by Obama.
There are many reasons that Jackson is upset with Obama and the main one, in my opinion, is that an Obama presidency will make him the default leader of the black community and it will put to rest the idea of inequality in America. If a black man can be president then blacks can achieve anything. If Obama gets elected it will make Jackson irrelevant. That is a matter for discussion at another time.
What I want to know is why Jackson was let off so easily. Castration was often used against black men in addition to or instead of lynching them. If a golf commentator can be suspended for saying the other golfers should to take tiger Woods out back and lynch him in order to beat him (a statement Tiger was OK with but Al Sharpton was not) then Jackson certainly deserves greater punishment than his personal embarrassment. Don Imus lost his job over a statement that depicted young black women in an unfavorable light and stories of nooses being hung lead to investigations of a hate crime. Since castration is a symbol of what was done to blacks that “got out of line” why is Jackson let off so easily?
I am not suggesting that Jackson lose his job because to be honest, the man has never worked a day in his life. He extorts money from corporations by threatening boycotts and he uses the tax laws to shelter money from government scrutiny. He has no job to lose so firing him is out of the question.
Why though, has he not been taken to task for his obviously racist remark? Why is he allowed to apologize and all is forgiven when an Imus apology did not stop him from receiving the scorn of the black community and eventually losing his job?
Jackson thrives on face time. That needs to be denied to him and the MSM needs to point out his racist remarks for what they are and not let him off with a weak apology. People like Al Sharpton need to have as much enthusiasm in pursuing this racism as they do when Duke lacrosse players are falsely accused of raping a black woman, when the criminal acts of teens in Jena Louisiana are defended based on their skin color, when a cab driver in New York accidentally hits and kills a black kid, when landlords raise rent on black tenants, when golf announcers mention lynching, and when Don Imus makes a boneheaded statement.
All Al Sharpton and the rest of the race baiters need to do is pursue Jackson just as they would if a white guy had made the statement. In reality, Jackson’s statement was no different than if he had said “I just want to lynch him.”
If you want racial equality, stop having two sets of standards and actually treat everyone equally.
To do anything else castrates your cause…

Thirty-two Years of Lies About Energy
Jul 2, 2008 Opinion
I have discussed before how politicians (from both parties) have been saying for decades that we need energy independence. Before environmental moonbattery became vogue many of our politicians said we needed to drill for our own oil and after the wackos came to power that changed to use our own natural gas instead.
Starting with Jimmy Carter and his vow that we would not use one drop more of foreign oil then we were at that time (when oil was under $30 a barrel) and ending with $140 oil today we have not drilled for our own and we have not become energy independent. We use more foreign oil while we sit on top of untold reserves that would truly make us energy independent. They always say it will take time but time has passed us by and they still have not accomplished a thing. Here is the link to a video that has a montage of clips from Carter to Bush and everyone in between. The video features them all telling the same lie over and over. Keep that in mind when you hear the candidates tell you about energy independence.
Our country should be embarrassed that the French have more nuclear power than we do.

Black National Anthem Singer Disgraces Denver
Jul 2, 2008 Opinion
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper got a little more than bargained for when he prepared to deliver his State of the City address. A black lady named Rene Marie was asked to sing the National Anthem prior to the address and after she was introduced she began to sing.
What came out of her mouth was not the United States National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner; No, instead she sang a song called “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” which is known as the Black National Anthem. The National Anthem was never sung.
Marie decided to sing that song instead of the one she was asked to sing and instead of asking to do so she kept her plan secret so no one would stop her. There was every expectation that she would sing the National Anthem and people were quite surprised by what she did so it is reasonable to assume this was in no way sanctioned.
Marie explained her act by stating:
“When I decided to sing my version, what was going on in my head was: I want to express how I feel about living in the United States, as a black woman, as a black person,” 9News
Of course, no one asked her to sing a song about how she felt and the meeting was not about her. By doing what she did, she split this country even more. She ignored our Nation’s anthem in favor of one that represents only a portion of our nation and pushed her views, the views of a black woman, on every person present. Imagine what would happen if a white person was asked to sing the National Anthem at the NAACP national meeting (I know, but imagine anyway) and instead sang a song that is viewed as a song about white people. There would be an uproar about it and no one would give a spit about what the singer’s feelings were. We would probably get Sharpton and Jackson ranting on TV.
There is a time and a place for everything and this was not the time or place to sing that song. She knew what she was doing was wrong and she knew it would spark controversy. She was so self centered that she didn’t think about the impact of her actions.
Rene, there is but one America even though people like you and John Edwards try to force this two Americas idea on us. We are one Nation under God and we have but one National Anthem and that anthem is color blind.
I would imagine that people will think twice before inviting her to sing the National Anthem. Imagine if she did this at a baseball or football game…
