What did Hillary Mean to Say?

There has been an uproar over a comment by Hillary Clinton when asked about dropping out of the race. She indicated that her husband did not wrap things up until June 1992 and that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June. People were quick to jump on this and say she was inferring that Obama could be killed and then she would be the nominee. I see it differently.

I am certainly no supporter of Hillary Clinton but in this case I have to agree with her. From the moment I read the comment I knew she meant that there were times in history where the nomination process was still going on in June. It is a foregone conclusion that she expressed it poorly which does not bode well for a person who is supposed to be so brilliant. I know that the Clinton history is filled with nuanced statements but I cannot get on the bandwagon of people who think she meant that harm could or should come to Obama.

Al Sharpton [Daily News] has contacted Hillary and told her to choose her words wisely which is ironic considering Sharpton’s were have been responsible for a number of deaths. His peace marches have turned into riots where people have been killed based upon what he told the crowd. I imagine he should know that poorly chosen words can lead to catastrophe because he has certainly had his share of inciting catastrophic moments.

Clinton has apologized [My Way News] for the remarks and explained that she meant no disrespect to the Kennedy clan and once again explained what she meant. Unfortunately, there are those who will look at this as one more way that Hillary is ruining the nomination process and how her scorched Earth policies know no bounds. While I believe that the Clintons will say or do anything to win, I also know they would never say or do anything to upset an American dynasty such as the Kennedys. That would be political suicide though her poor remarks might end up being the self inflicted wound that finally does her in.

One thing to keep in mind is that if Obama were a white person these remarks would not have the same significance. Since there were early worries that he might be killed this has a lot more weight. People naturally assume some redneck will unload on him because he is a black guy. The reality is, all the worries are about people on the left. They are the folks running their primary and it is the Hillary supporters that they must be worried about.

I have rarely agreed with Clinton (and never politically) but in this case I have to. She did not mean to place Obama in jeopardy or suggest that he might meet an untimely demise which would give the nomination to her. The whole issue has been blown out of proportion by those who worry some crackpot will take a cue from what she said and off Obama. I can’t imagine anyone would want to see any of them injured or killed. Politics are one thing but taking a life is quite another and no sane person wants to see someone die because they disagree politically. This, of course, is in the US. A lot of people want to see terrorists who disagree politically cease to exist.

No one in his right mind believes the Obama/JFK comparisons but then again, no one is his right mind wants there to be an Obama/RFK comparison either.

Maybe Hillary was just tired or maybe people actually have a different opinion about what happened to Vince Foster…

Obama Funded with Drug Money

The Democrats love to tell stories about how they are for the little guy, the working class schmoes who only need the government to help them move along. The Democrats love to tell everyone how companies are screwing them over at every turn. According to the left the problems with oil right now are because of the oil companies and not the policies of Congress. One favorite of the left is the pharmaceutical companies. The liberals love to take shots at drug manufacturers and how Republicans favor them and let them charge whatever they want. Drug prices, the left says, are high because of the drug company’s policies that hurt the working class. Once again, the policies of the government that contribute to the mess are overlooked.

While they are out there accusing the right of taking drug company money the left is raking it in themselves. For the first time in quite some time Democrats are getting more money from the drug companies than are Republicans. Barack Obama has received $639,124 from drug and medical device companies and that is the highest amount given to any of the three.

Have we heard anything about Obama giving the money back? Have we heard anyone suggest that Obama is the reason drug prices are high? Have we heard about how he must be in bed with them and that he is responsible for the problems of the middle class and working poor who just want reasonably priced medication? No we have not and we likely never will. Political donations from big business are only evil when they go to Republicans. Democrats accept the money to do God’s work.

I want all the liberals out there to keep this information in mind when Barry Obamessiah starts talking about health care and drug companies and how evil they are. I want you to remember this when he talks about drug companies giving money to Republicans or how drug companies have too much influence in Congress.

I would say that Obama’s position of criticizing Congress for taking the money and then taking it himself amounts to nothing more than the Audacity of Dope…

Kennedy is Ill but Still a Politician

Having said that, I imagine that this might be how things played out over the weekend. Senator Kennedy had a seizure and an ambulance was called. He had another seizure in route to the hospital. He was briefly at a small hospital before being airlifted to Mass General, a very good hospital. They ran some tests and did a CAT scan of his head. It was at this time they discovered his tumor. The doctors informed him that he had a tumor and they needed to do more tests to grade it and see how far along it was.

Dr.: Senator, do you want us to release any of this information?

Kennedy: How long will it take to do the tests you want to do?

Dr.: The tests can be accomplished in a few hours and we should have results back no later than Tuesday.

Kennedy: Tuesday huh. Let’s not say anything right now except that you are running tests. You see, Clinton is going to trounce Obama in Kentucky but he will win in Oregon.

Dr.: Everyone already knows that. It is all they talk about on the news but what does it have to do with your condition.

Kennedy: Its like this. I wait until Tuesday afternoon or so to disclose that I have a tumor. That bombshell will dominate the news and overshadow Clinton’s big win. All they will talk about is me. Then, since Oregon is three hours behind their polls will close when it is around 10pm in the East and most folks will be in bed so Wednesday will be all about Obama.

Dr.: I am not particularly comfortable playing politics with your health.

Kennedy: Now look here. This is my health information and I say it cannot be released until Tuesday and if it is released any earlier I will take you for a ride in my car, if you know what I mean. It is all about politics and I intend to take the thunder away from Clinton and help little Barack Osama, er, Obama er Osama Obama out.

Dr.: Sigh

Ted Kennedy has been a politician most of his life and it is all he knows. In all seriousness though, he is very sick and the limited information we are getting does not seem particularly encouraging. Some say he has a chance to live about three more years and others say, given his age and the assumption that it is inoperable, he has about a year.

I have no love for the man and cannot stand his politics. I feel he has been bad for America despite the accolades he is getting from everyone. However, he is a human being and I would not be so uncaring as to show joy over his illness like the liberals do every time Dick Cheney goes to the hospital. They hold gleeful death watches and hope this time it is for real. I cannot do that no matter how much I dislike the man.

My prayers are with him and his family. I pray he recovers but my experience tells me that is not likely and that he does not have much longer to be here. I would suggest that he resign from the Senate and enjoy life with his family doing the things he likes to do and die happy and with dignity. I am sure he will consider that but not before he helps Barry defeat Hillary.

Why California Gay Marriage Ruling is Bad

A California Court overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage and it is a very bad thing for our society. I will not get into the debate on gay marriage. People who read this blog know that I am opposed to it. Part of my opposition is based upon my religious beliefs and part on the idea that government can overturn centuries of tradition and run counter to most religions. I have never understood why government is involved in the marriage business because it is a religious union and having government regulate it seems to run counter to keeping government out of religion. Despite my feelings, the ruling is bad for a much more sinister reason.

The court overturned the will of the people. Californians voted not to allow gay marriage. The people of the state voted on a referendum and the people determined they did not want to allow gay marriage and yet, a court has overturned this. The courts are in place to rule on matters of law. By overturning a law voted on by the people, the court overstepped its bounds and went counter to the people’s will.

There are procedures in place. The initiative was in place and people voted and in the end the gay marriage advocates lost. Instead of accepting the will of the people they turned to the courts thus leading to a court making law instead of interpreting it. Californians voted to make marriage a union between one man and one woman. The court decided it knew better than the people and, in effect, ignored centuries of precedent and tradition in order to give marriage a new meaning.

Our society has been on a downward spiral for about 100 years and the federal government is helping it along by following in the footsteps of other great civilizations that fell by the wayside. Gay marriage is one more item of decadence that helps keep the spiral turning.

But more insidious is the breakdown of our system of government where the judicial branch assumes legislative responsibility and, worse yet, thwarts the will of the people. The court was dominated by Republicans who demonstrated that our once great party is in its final stages of life. When the end finally arrives the country will be dominated by liberals in both parties and this can only mean the end will come even sooner.

Quit monkeying around with racism

Pat Buchanan has an interesting piece up at Human Events where he talks about how Bill and Hillary Clinton have been called racists by the very people who viewed him as the first black president. He discusses his view that Obama and his people have shouted racism at anything and everything and therefore have defined the parameters of what is allowed to be talked about. He notes that John Mccain has already said what is off the table for the general election and that by allowing the opponent to dictate the terms the results are usually defeat.

This is evident in Marietta Georgia where a pub owner is selling shirts with a picture of Curious George on them with the words Obama 08 underneath. This has certain groups of people up in arms decrying the racism involved in using a picture of a monkey to depict a black man. Protests are planned outside the establishment where groups opposed to the shirt will gather:

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Nation of Islam and the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials were among the organizations expected at Tuesday’s rally.

“Mulligan’s is promoting and selling racially offensive T-shirts, and Marietta and Cobb County residents and taxpayers abhor and cannot condone, any longer, this type of divisive and incendiary behavior in our community,” said Jerry Gonzalez, executive director of GALEO. AJC

The owner said that he is not racist and feels that Obama resembles Curious George. The groups are not buying it and they want to put an end to calling black people chimps. I want to know when it became bad to call a black guy a chimp but OK to call a white guy one. For the last seven plus years the left in this country has referred to George Bush as Chimpy, Chimpy McBush, and Chimpy Bush. His picture has been altered to make him look like a monkey and yet none of these people who protest today said a word. Bush’s face was placed on the body of a handicapped person in an ad for the Special Olympics, not a word.

First of all, I think the owner might be right. Obama does kind of look like Curious George. If he says he is not a racist and that this is the reason he picked the picture then I am OK with that. He should not let others decide the boundaries for him as the Obama backers will want to do. If these people cared about how people were treated they would have protested all the references to George Bush and a chimp. Here are a few, just for fun. Google Bush chimp and see what comes back.

From Hot Air, a short on Saturday Night Live
Time Magazine search for chimp (it is in the comments)
And this site called The Smirking Chimp (look at the picture in the title)

There are 142,000 results in Google for the search phrase “chimpy bush” so it is safe to say that the phrase has been used quite a bit. Add the nice Hitler phrases to it and you have people equating our president with a maniacal killer who happens to be one of the most despised people of all time. And yet, people are upset about Obama being compared to a cartoon character (sounds like the Mohammad cartoon issue).

Like I stated, I take the guy at his word but even if he meant it to be offensive I don’t care. I don’t care about the protesters (which curiously includes the Nation of Islam, hmmmm) because they are not interested in fairness. They kept quiet while this was being done to Bush and now want to complain because it involves Obama. I would not be surprised if half of them referred to Bush as a chimp or as Hitler. To hell with them. They can all suck wind as far as I am concerned. The only thing I want to know now is how I can get one of those shirts.

The last item to offer is this. Maybe they are right to be upset that Curious George is being used to represent Obama. After all, Obama is not 100% black. He is half white. Perhaps it would have been OK if the picture was of a zebra or an Oreo cookie. I also don’t want to read about context and slavery and all the other crap that is used to justify behavior. If it is bad for one group it is bad for the other, period. Otherwise, what goes around, comes around.

Hats off to the owner, Mike Norman for exercising his right to free speech.
