Round Up of the News

Newly elected Democrats know they can not act like rabid liberals or they will not have a job in two years. It has been asserted by many that those who won did so as moderates and therefore can not vote on radical liberal ideas or they will be booted from the seats they hold in red states. This is confirmed by at least one incoming Dem:

“I see myself, hopefully, as a bridge builder, a consensus person,” said Harry Mitchell, 66, a longtime state senator and former mayor of Tempe, Ariz., who defeated Representative J. D. Hayworth, an emblematic member of the class of 1994. “I can’t be a rabid partisan Democrat and represent this district.” New York Times

Charlie Rangel insults Mississippi and its people and the New York Times carries his water. Rangel said that he was just so proud to be from New York that he can not imagine anyone wanting to live elsewhere. The Times asserted that “it was a remark uttered with regional pride” as though that is a fact. Not hard to believe because the Times is a liberal paper that would take what Dems say as Gospel. The fact is, Rangel insulted people who live much better lives than the folks of New York. They pay less money in taxes, they pay less for food, and other items needed to live. Most importantly, the folks of Mississippi do not have to worry about being mugged when walking down the street. Of course, Most of New York State is safe but the city gets the attention. Rangel’s response was:

Told of Representative Pickering’s comments, Mr. Rangel said he was sorry. “I certainly don’t mean to offend anyone,” he said in a statement issued Thursday. “I just love New York so much that I can’t understand why everyone wouldn’t want to live here.” Attempts to reach him by telephone and e-mail for further comment were unsuccessful. New York Times

I have already pointed out why people would not want to live in New York. I would also point out that the reason I would not want to live there is the same reason that I do not like living in Maryland and that is the state is infested with Liberals. They tax the hell out of us and they take everything they want. They generally make our lives miserable. Mr. Rangel, I would not want to live in the sewer basin you call New York, and for me it is not regional pride.

John McCain is looking at a run for the White House. Senator John McCain, a person many believe is at least partly responsible for the loss of the House and Senate last week, is looking at a run for the Presidency in 2008.

Sources close to McCain say on Wednesday in Phoenix, he and a half dozen of his top aides huddled and decided to proceed more formally with his quest for the White House.

McCain told ABC News that his team will continue to meet and “go through the process of decision making.” But, he added, “I certainly haven’t made any decision.”

A presidential exploratory committee is expected to be set up this month — perhaps as early as next week.

Forget it McCain. You will NOT have the support of the Republican Party because you are viewed as a RINO (Republican In Name Only) and we are not going to support you. You blew your chance with the gang of fourteen and all that crap over the nuclear option. If you think for one minute the Democrats will honor that agreement or will not exercise the nuclear option the first time Republicans filibuster you are senile. You screwed the Republican Party by trying to play nice with people who do not play nice. You will not get the nomination so save your money.

Bush Derangement Syndrome at the wax museum. Some idiot who suffers from BDS damaged the wax statue of President Bush at Madame Tussaud’s celebrity waxworks in Las Vegas.

Bush’s head suffered about $25,000 in damages when a Madame Tussaud’s visitor attacked it the day before last week’s elections.

“No one’s pushed one over before,” said Jack Taylor, spokesman for the tourist attraction. Review Journal

This person obviously has issues and should not be allowed out in public. I hope they find the guy and make him pay the 25 grand for the repairs.

Republicans failed to act when they had control and now judicial nominations are in trouble. The President had better hope that the lame duck Congress gets off its collective ass and does some things, including exercising the nuclear option, so that judicial nominees and John Bolton can be approved before the donks take over. If they do not then it is likely we will hove no confirmations and there will be more liberal activist judges like Ginsberg sitting on benches across the country. It is not hard to see how the 9th Circus has screwed up and how often they have done it. We will be screwed if the lame duck does not get well in the next 2 months and do something good for the country for a change. Source: NYT

First of all, I’ve been through Mississippi on a number of occasions, and can say first hand that there are some really beautiful places there, and I certainly would have no problem living there were it not for the high humidity, which affects me in large ways. That is why I live in Arizona, which brings me to my next comment. I am a politically conservative individual living in Arizona for 26+ years, and I will actively work to help whoever runs against McCain and for whatever office he’s running for. McCain took away my 1st Amendment right to free speech. He’s part of the cancer that infects this country, and he needs to be surgically cut out to save the nation, IMHO.

I was born and reared in Mississippi and Rangel’s insult was obviously deliberate. Furthermore, his weak “apology” was pathetic. The man has a long history of putting his foot in his mouth followed up with a rather insincere apology to whom he offended. I even felt inspired to write about Rangel and his screwup on my blog as well. The man has shown himself to be prejudice against southerners and this isn’t the first time he’s shown it. But insulting southerners gets him Brownie points in New York so he doesn’t really care. Ronnie Van Zandt’s words really apply to Rangel: “A southern man don’t need him around anyhow
