Biden Is Obama’s Cheney

Barack Obama has talked a great game during the last two years. He has spent half of his time in the Senate running for president and during that time he has talked about change and how we needed fresh blood in DC. Then he picked a man who has been a Washington insider for 36 years to be his running mate which essentially negated the idea that he wanted change.

Obama had to select someone with experience because he has little of his own. He has never led anything and his claim to fame is being a community organizer. From all accounts the community is worse off than when he “organized” it but a lot of his friends made money.

Obama went on a world tour to show how loved he was and give the impression that he was ready to be Commander in Chief. Unfortunately for him, the Russians were having none of the Rock Star in Berlin. They attacked Georgia and Obama’s three statements on the issue were weak and showed the glaring gap in foreign experience he has when compared to John McCain. Obama finally released a tough statement that made sense but not before showing that he was a babe in the woods (O-Bambi). Obama showed that traveling with his gypsy parents to different countries when he was a kid did not quite equate to the foreign policy experience he claimed. He needed someone who would beef up the foreign policy credentials of the ticket and thus he selected Biden, a man who I have stated in the past is well informed in foreign policy.

Biden is Obama’s Dick Cheney. Biden is in his 60s so it is unlikely he will run against Obama after a first term in office therefore he is free to say and do what he wants. He is the voice of experience for Obama (a Washington insider voice rather than a voice of change) and he is the attack dog for the ticket. He can go after John McCain and Sarah Palin while Obama gives the image of being as pure as the driven snow the icy precipitation, not the drug cocaine). If elected, Biden will be the voice in the head of a president with little experience in Washington just like Dick Cheney was to George Bush.

The left hates Dick Cheney and every time there is a rumor about his heart they hold candlelight vigils praying that Cheney dies. Anytime Cheney has chest pain the hate sites of the left celebrate that this might be the one. The left also hates Cheney because they say he is a chicken hawk (which is actually a fierce creature) because he received five deferments and did not serve in Vietnam. I have seen more than one story from the left about Cheney’s deferments and none of them were very flattering. This is one more issue with which Joe Biden compares.

Biden received five deferments from the draft and thus never had to serve in Vietnam. After the fifth deferment Biden was not eligible for service because of childhood asthma, an ailment that had never been previously disclosed. In Biden’s stories about his life (in his book Promises to Keep) he discussed having an active childhood and playing football and other sports. There is no mention of asthma and no mention of any limited ability. Since Biden voted FOR the 2002 invasion of Iraq but received five deferments from service, does that make him a chicken hawk?

I realize that the left is full of hypocrisy and that they have trouble applying the same standards to themselves that they apply to others. Look at how they are treating Sarah Palin. They are criticizing her for being a working mother and for working up until she delivered her last child. They are attacking her for doing all the things they have said women could do for years. The slight variation is that liberals love abortion so that a woman does not have to choose between her job and her kid. Sarah Palin demonstrated true pro choice when she chose both of them. It is easier to do both when a mother AND a father are present and work as a team to raise their children. Since many on the left believe that marriage is no big deal and should not be protected and since a large number of their constituents have one parent homes, it is easy to see why they don’t quite understand.

In any event, the left is full of hypocrites so I don’t expect to see Biden called a chicken hawk and I don’t expect to see any stories from the left telling us how he used special connections to get deferments from service and I certainly don’t expect to see stories questioning the asthma issue as a fabrication. If Biden were a Republican there would be a thousand stories about it and the asthma would be deemed a lie, manufactured to avoid service. But since he is a liberal Democrat we will not see much in the way of criticism of this. The MSM will not cover it and Biden will not receive the same level of scrutiny or scorn that Cheney did.

But make no mistake about it, Joe Biden is Barack Obama’s Dick Cheney. He will be his brain and he will be his conscience. Biden and Cheney only differ in political ideology. Their temperaments are the same, their experiences are the same (except Cheney actually worked in the real world where as Biden has lived off the government all his life), and they both received five deferments from the draft.

I never had a problem with deferments but since the left has been obsessed with them I demand the same scrutiny of their candidates who voted for war but never served because of them. Until they can come clean on that issue, they lack any validity.

Biden is a chicken hawk and he is not the change that Barack Obama promised to bring to Washington.

Biden is Obama’s Cheney but I doubt the left will hate him as much…

Just to refresh people’s memories; John McCain attended the Naval Academy and then fought in Vietnam. He did not get a deferment and refused early release from a POW camp where he was tortured because it would not be fair to those who were there longer. Obama could never match that record and neither can Biden (or Cheney for that matter).

As for patriotism, I think Stop the ACLU has a great story about the Democrats and their patriotism. It was not hard to find American Flags at their convention. All you had to do was look in the trash.

**UPDATE: Dr. Bulldog attended a McCain/Palin rally and found NO flags in the trash…

**UPDATE 2: To be clear, I like Dick Cheney. I don’t like Biden’s politics. The point is that it will be interesting to see how the left treats a guy who is nothing more than the man they hate so much.

Obama stabs Hillary; minor racism OK as well

Saturday was an interesting day starting with Obama’s pick for VP and ending up with Chris Matthews dismissing “racist”** remarks made by Biden in the past.

Obama was supposed to announce his VP pick Friday but two things changed that. Obama was caught up in the frenzy and delayed but now that I see how things transpired I am sure that Obama waited, at least in part, so that he could take one last dig at Hillary Clinton. The cat was out of the bag at a little after 1 am but Obama waited nearly two hours before he sent the much anticipated text messages and emails. Obama’s campaign sent them out at 3 am. When I heard that I knew immediately that he waited until that time to take a dig at Hillary and her “who do you trust when there is a call at 3 am” ad.

The Hillary supporters are already upset because she did not win and was treated badly. Then Obama did not even consider her for the VP slot. They said her name was in the running but she was never vetted. No one asked for her information because she was not going to get the nod no matter what. The 3 am announcement was the Obama camp’s way of saying that any message at 3 am will come from them. Hillary will not be involved. I hope the people who support her picked up on this and remember it.

The second part of the day involved Obama’s actual pick, who Obama introduced as the next PRESIDENT of the United States. Obama has stated he was an agent of change and that we could not afford to have politics as usual. He touted himself as a DC outsider. Then, instead of picking a running mate that is outside the beltway, he picks a man who has been in office for 36 years. Obama not only picked a man who, like The One, has little experience in the private sector, he picked a guy who is completely entrenched in the DC culture. This is not change and it shows that Obama was worried about the election. He sacrificed what he says he believes in in order to win. The selection of Biden, a man who admitted McCain was ready to be president and Obama is not, shows that Obama is running a bit scared. He also picked a guy who will not forget how many houses he has because they are all in a compound. Biden’s $1.3 million dollar house is only one of the homes in the Biden compound. I wonder if he is considered out of touch?

The last thing I saw (in between the football games) was Chris Matthews demonstrate how completely in the tank he is for Obama. Any person who was on his show that had a negative thing to say about the Biden selection was taken to task. If something negative was stated Matthews followed up with “…yeah but” or “well does that matter?” When one person mentioned Biden’s propensity for putting his foot in his mouth Matthews said (paraphrase) yeah but do the remarks matter? I mean, maybe it does not offend my religion but his comment was minimally racist and it only involved Indians. It was, you know, not like a really racist remark.

It is no secret that the Democratic Party has a long history of racism, slave holding, Jim Crow laws, lynching, and having a racist terror organization in the KKK to strike terror into the hearts of blacks. This past is well documented and undeniable. It is no secret that Democrats make racist comments all the time and they do so without the scrutiny that any Republican would get.

Chris Matthews wants you all to know that it is OK because there are degrees of racism and Biden is only minimally racist and his comments were directed at Indians so it really does not mater. I don’t seem to remember Matthews or anyone else excusing the word macaca when George Allen used it. No, the left went nuts and this was the worst thing in the world. No one on the left said it was a minor thing, and didn’t insult anyone important. Chris Matthews is completely in the tank for Obama and would have had tingles in his legs no matter who Obama selected. The choice of Biden, who has had differing opinions than Obama on many issues, gives us a great view of how the MSM will say or do anything to assure an Obama victory.

What an interesting day? We had the delayed announcement in order to diss Hillary, the Biden appearance and questions about his mouth and we had Matthews excuse racism.

The next couple of months will be fun. It will also be interesting to see if the left, those who say the differences between Biden and Obama do not matter, will pick apart McCain’s choice and try to exploit the differences.

I think Biden is a smart guy with regard to foreign affairs but he is an insider and a typical politician. He is part of the problem, not part of the solution that Obama claims to offer. Biden also has the potential to open his mouth and end the contest with a few poorly chosen words. With people like Matthews helping to excuse the gaffes he might have an easier go of it.

**Those who know me know that I do not think talking about a person’s nationality is racist. There are only a few races (despite the number on government forms) and while there are many things to call a person who makes offensive remarks, racist is not one when it does not involve a race. However, the left calls it that and Matthews called it that when he excused it.

Obama scooped! Wait too long, lose the initiative

Barack Obama has been performing a bit of a tease with regard to his VP selection. He had promised that the selection would go out in a text message or email to all his supporters before the traditional media outlets get the information. The message was supposed to go out on Friday.

Obama though, likes to have the attention focused on him. He likes the media frenzy that surrounds him when these things happen so he has been dragging this out to get the maximum play.

Unfortunately, if one waits too long then one loses the initiative. This is the case with Barry and his VP selection. At 0121 Eastern Time there is still no Obama email or text message. However, Fox News and Newsmax [both are the same AP story] are reporting that Obama has selected Senator Joe Biden as his running mate. With news reports that the other contenders had been notified that they were not selected and that a Secret Service detail had been sent to secure Biden, anyone could see what was going on.

Obama waited too long. He said he would send it out on Friday and then the message was it would be Saturday morning. Now the word is out and the Obama supporters were not the first to know. They all found out at the same time as everyone else.

I am reminded of the old saying; He who hesitates is lost.”

Lost… That certainly describes Obama (and his followers).

Will a President Obama take forever to take important decisions? How will that work in a crisis?

Good Thing the Uneducated Troops Were There

John Kerry, Joe Biden, and Chuck Hagel were aboard a military helicopter in Afghanistan when a snowstorm forced them to have an emergency landing. The three Senators were stuck up in the mountains for a while until American troops could get them out of there by land and back on their journey. I bet these three had some serious pucker factor.

Kerry, who said that people who did not get an education ended up in Iraq, thanked the troops for helping the hapless Senators out of their tough situation. It is probably a good thing that a bunch of those uneducated troops were there or these three Senators might have been featured on You Tube having their heads hacked off by some Muslim who would be defended by CAIR.

What were these three doing over there anyway? Shouldn’t they be back here working? What are we paying all these people for anyway? It is bad enough we have three Senators getting paid a salary by the taxpayers to miss votes while they run around campaigning for the presidency but now these whack jobs are in Afghanistan when they are supposed to be on a “district work period” (Congress speak meaning 13 days off around a one day Federal Holiday).

Kerry might not think the troops are all that bright but they were smart enough to get him out of there and they were professional enough to do it with no regard to his comments. If they had been less than professional they would have left these three to be taken off our hands by the very people Kerry and his liberal colleagues want us to make nice with.

Maybe next time we can pay the pilot NOT to land before letting them out…

Obama’s Change Politics as Usual

The Iowa caucus process is archaic and cumbersome not to mention that it disenfranchises people who are unable to make it to the caucus sites. This might be an attempt to only have those who are serious be part of the process but it disenfranchises those who cannot leave their lives for a few hours to be part of the process. Since absentee ballots are not allowed members of the military, who protect the freedom to vote, are excluded from the process.

The caucus process involves a series of votes and candidates who do not carry at least 15% of the votes are knocked out of the process and their supporters may then go to another candidate. This process continues until the winner is selected. This process also involves some politicking as demonstrated this week when Dennis Kucinich told his supporters to support B. Hussein Obama if he [Kucinich] should fail to obtain the requisite 15%. This was an open request and does not appear to have been requested by Obama.

The other kind of politics are the back room deals that have candidates swapping votes in precincts where they lack support for votes in precincts where a person has overwhelming support. It is alleged that Senator Joe Biden has worked a deal with Obama to throw support his way in areas where Biden lacks the 15% and where it might be close for Obama in return for Obama sending votes Biden’s way in areas where Obama has a huge advantage. The same kind of deal is reported to have taken place between Governor Bill Richardson and Obama. I could have sworn Richardson was pandering to Clinton so he could be selected as her VP.

These kinds of back room deals serve many purposes. In this case it might mean that Hillary Clinton, the national front-runner, would get knocked down quite a few pegs and begin the rapid demise of her campaign. If Obama wins and Edwards and Hillary place much lower or with quite a few less votes then Obama might get a big surge in New Hampshire and nationally. This might also help the others who will most likely not be around by the time super Tuesday comes because a good showing will garner donations of cash to pay off campaign debt. These kind of deals also forge later alliances when a newly elected president, say Obama, needs to fill his cabinet.

This is politics as usual and it is not uncommon in a Iowa’s unusual caucus process. The problem is, it is politics as usual and Obama is involved in it. B. Hussein Obama has sold himself as the candidate of change. He claims that he is not a DC insider and has not lived Washington politics like his rivals, chiefly Hillary Clinton. He has told us that we cannot accomplish change by putting the same old people in the positions of leadership. It is his take on the definition of insanity; continually doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

For a man who claims to be a different kind of politician, one who is not there to play politics as usual, it seems he is doing just that. Obama is working the back room deals like a seasoned DC insider and he is playing politics as usual. This is contrary to everything he says he stands for and it shows him to be no different than the rest of the politicians in the field. I wonder what Obama would say if all the deals were going in favor of Clinton. Would he say that she is playing the same old politics?

B. Hussein Obama is a fresh face in the crowd of has beens and 60s retreads from the Democratic Party and he is a symbol of hope for a lot of members of that party but he is no champion of change from politics as usual.

In reality he is another politician who will say and do what it takes to get elected, principles be damned.

For clarity, I realize these are allegations but they are all denying it. A sure sign that a politician is doing something is when he denies it.
