Maybe If They Were Less Worried About Gay Marriage
Aug 13, 2010 Political
Looks like California is going further down the tubes. While an activist judge with a homosexual bias (he is gay) disregarded the wishes of over 7 million people and while people are sashaying around celebrating the shredding of Constitutional Law (at either the state or federal level) the state of California is falling off the planet.
California is home to lots of very rich people and the state taxes everything imaginable. Unfortunately, it has a plethora of union workers (particularly public sector workers) who suckle the teat of government and have bankrupted the system. California has too many unions, too many public sector employees, too many illegal aliens and too many welfare programs. It cannot afford all of this.
The state intends to issue IOUs to those who are owed money:
State Controller John Chiang said Tuesday that without a state budget, California’s government would be unable to pay its bills in late August (or maybe early September). That means issuing IOUs to some people. Possible dates for IOUs could be either Aug. 27 or Aug. 31, when big payments to schools are due, according to this schedule on the controller’s website. NBC Los Angeles
The IOUs are a result of not having a budget but the reason there is no budget is because they cannot balance one. They owe more than they take in and they have not figured out how to cut what needs to be cut in order to get out of debt.
While the Governor and the courts are occupying their time worrying about gay marriage, the state is drowning and there is no hope in sight.
But like the passengers of the Titanic, they will have a gay ole time while the ship sinks…
Cave Canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Coward Democrats Leading Congress
Jul 3, 2010 Political
The House passed a Defense Appropriations bill on Thursday and the Democrats attached a document that deemed as “passed” a budget that does not exist. The Democrats basically deemed that a non existent 1.1 TRILLION dollar budget that does not exist has passed and this will allow them to spend money for fiscal year 2011 which begins on October 1st.
Last night, as part of a procedural vote on the emergency war supplemental bill, House Democrats attached a document that “deemed as passed” a non-existent $1.12 trillion budget. The execution of the “deeming” document allows Democrats to start spending money for Fiscal Year 2011 without the pesky constraints of a budget.
The procedural vote passed 215-210 with no Republicans voting in favor and 38 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote against deeming the faux budget resolution passed. Human Events
This has never happened since the creation of the Congressional Budgetary process. Democrats are worried about how their big time spending looks back home in an election year (and only because it is an election year) so they are using cowardly means to keep spending money.
One would think if they are worried about voter reaction they would change what they are doing but instead they are using cowardly means to keep on doing business as usual.
All voters should be outraged at this and the blatant disregard for our deficit and the debt. Voters should be equally outraged that Congress has refused to pass a budget because appropriating money is a Constitutional obligation of the Congress.
If these people are not willing to do their jobs then it is time we voted them out and replaced them with people who are willing to do the job.
Maybe next April 15th all taxpayers should deem that their taxes have been paid and see how that goes over.
Never surrender, never submit.

Democrats Run From Obama, Maybe This Is Why
Feb 3, 2010 Political
When Barack Obama took control of the White House he had everything going for him. He had majorities in the House and Senate that were so large the minority party could not stop any legislation. Infighting among Democrats and the desire to protect vulnerable seats are the only reasons that legislation did not pass. The Democrats, and only the Democrats, are responsible for any failures to achieve Obama’s agenda. Republicans could not stop them. The Democrats blame Republicans and call them the party of “No” but the Republicans were not needed to get anything passed. Democrats blame Republicans for not supporting issues that would hurt America and allow Democrats to claim bipartisanship. The votes on legislation that people do not want fall squarely on the shoulders of the Democrats.
This is an election year and the Democrats are pretending to be fiscally responsible. Obama has called for a freeze on a small part of the budget in order to appear as if he is trying to control costs. While he puts on the phony show he continues to spend like a drunken sailor. The difference is, a sailor spends his own money and stops spending when he runs out.
A number of Democrats are distancing themselves from Barack Obama and his latest budget. The Baltimore Sun reports that vulnerable Democrats are voicing their opposition to items in Barack Obama’s budget proposal in order to play to their constituencies back home and improve their prospects for reelection in November.
As Congress begins picking through President Obama’s vast election year budget, many Democratic incumbents and candidates seem to be finding something they love — to campaign against.
The Democrats mentioned have seen the writing on the wall since Scott Brown was elected to the Senate in Massachusetts. They were prepared to steamroll the health care takeover until that upset win. The vulnerable ones seem to have gotten the message while Obama, who is tone-deaf to the desires of America, seems to have a different opinion. He believes the answer to Brown’s win is not to do nothing. Perhaps so but Americans want the right thing done.
Perhaps these Democrats realize that if a Republican can win in Massachusetts then no seat is safe. The Washington Times is reporting that the prospects of Republicans in Senate races is looking better and that they have a chance to pick up ten seats.
The long-shot bid by Republicans to retake control of the Senate is suddenly in play, as the prospect of high-profile Republican candidates entering the fray has pushed the GOP even or ahead in polling for 10 races.
The potential candidacies of former Republican Govs. George E. Pataki in New York and Tommy G. Thompson in Wisconsin are improving the polling fortunes of the party as it pursues seats long in the hands of Democrats, while the anti-government “tea party” movement has provided momentum to Republican challengers in states such as Florida, Arkansas and Pennsylvania.
“If the election were held today, the Republicans could come close to winning back the Senate, if not actually win it,” said pollster John Zogby.
There are still many months to go before the elections in November and anything can happen. The tack to the middle by some Democrats might be viewed as positive by fools who will cry foul if they are reelected and then move back to the left. But the reality is that things are, as of this early date, looking good for the Republican party.
This has to be particularly chilling to these Democrats especially after the surprise win by Brown.
I don’t know if Republicans will take enough seats to win back the Senate but they will gain at least a few more and move the filibuster-proof number farther from the Democrats.
I would like to see the Republicans win back the Senate but I will settle for a few more seats and I particularly want the one held by Arlen Specter. He switched parties solely for the purpose of winning reelection so it would be great to see him lose as a Democrat.

In Health Care Government Gives Rationing
Oct 19, 2009 Political
The federal government wants to run health care. It is the desire of the Obamatons to take control of this large part of our economy so that it can take control of the people. This is what happens with Social Security and Medicare. Every time there is an election old people are scared to death over threats about cuts in services if the right candidate does not win. They also hear the doom and gloom as excuses for tax increases come into play. The government realizes that a large portion of the elderly vote so the politicians try to placate them.
This year there will be no cost of living increase because the cost of living has not gone up. The Congress is looking to give each SS recipient a $250 check because there will be no COLA. The law says that benefits cannot be reduced so the SS never goes down regardless of how well the economy is doing. The law also says that there is no COLA increase if the COL does not go up so why don’t we stick with the law? The Congress wants to placate the elderly by buying them off.
The real concern should be what will happen to them if the government controls health care. Rationing WILL take place. If the government needs to control costs or if there is a disaster then people not deemed worthy, per Ezekiel Emanuel, will be denied care.
The state of Florida is a prime example. The Florida Department of Health, a state government agency, has issued guidelines to hospitals regarding who is to receive care and who is not should the H1N1 flu cause a shortage of hospital beds.
Florida health officials are drawing up guidelines that recommend barring patients with incurable cancer, end-stage multiple sclerosis and other conditions from being admitted to hospitals if the state is overwhelmed by flu cases. Sun Sentinel
A state government agency has drawn up guidelines on who should be refused care should the flu overwhelm the system. The state agency has given guidance for rationing care.
Take this to the next level and you have the federal government. The federal government will also have guidelines that determine who gets what treatment based on age and general health. A 90 year old person stands little chance of getting a hip replacement or heart surgery if the procedure costs too much based on life expectancy. The big difference is that an emergency need not exist for the feds to ration care. The budget will be a major consideration as a cost is placed on human life. If they only expect you to live a few years more then you will not get what you need.
We see it in place in Florida based on a flu outbreak but the fact that they are deciding now who lives and who dies is a foreshadowing of things to come should government take control of the health care in this country.
No longer will a doctor and patient decide. It will be some bean counter in DC who decides based on life expectancy charts and the budget.
We, as a nation, need to decide that it is time for all members of Congress to be denied what they need to exist. That, of course, would be elected office.
Vote them all out in 2010.
And say no to government run health care.

Maryland Millionaires Missing
May 27, 2009 Political
The People’s Republic of Maryland is about as left as they come. The state has so many Democrats in the largest, most heavily populated subdivisions that all the others combined cannot overcome the deficit. This means a lot of Democrats win elections and the same ones win over and over and…
The previous governor of the state was a Republican, the first one in about 40 years. He assumed office with a deficit and left with an excess. He did some things I did not like but was moderately conservative which in this state is way right.
When Democrat Martin O’Malley defeated Republican Robert Ehrlich in 2006 the surplus disappeared not long after O’Malley took office. He had to pay his special interest buddies off and make good on the promises to people who got him elected. It was not long before a special session of the legislature was called in order to discuss the budget problems. We all knew that meant a tax increase.
In that session the Democrats raised the state sales tax 20% (from 5 to 6%) and they raised the income tax on the “rich.” Up until that time the rate in Maryland was the same for everyone but the Democrats decided that the rich needed to pay more to redistribute the wealth to others. Many of us warned that the wealthy would pick up and move or would find ways to reduce their taxable income. No, they would grin and bear it, or so said the Baltimore Sun.
The Wall Street Journal has an article that discusses the tax increases and how Maryland has one third fewer millionaires than it had last year. That’s right, one third of the millionaires are no longer around. Some of this is because of the economy but many of them just packed up and moved on.
One year later, nobody’s grinning. One-third of the millionaires have disappeared from Maryland tax rolls. In 2008 roughly 3,000 million-dollar income tax returns were filed by the end of April. This year there were 2,000, which the state comptroller’s office concedes is a “substantial decline.” On those missing returns, the government collects 6.25% of nothing. Instead of the state coffers gaining the extra $106 million the politicians predicted, millionaires paid $100 million less in taxes than they did last year — even at higher rates.
O’Malley and his Democratic buddies could not get spending under control. Well, the reality is, they did not want to. They continue to pass unfunded mandates and though the law requires a balanced budget they can’t seem to manage that. The solution was simple for them. Being the good Democrats they are, they raised taxes on the rich. Some of the rich voted with their feet and now the state is taking in less money than it anticipated so the not so rich are going to end up footing the bill.
One other issue along these lines is the slot machine fiasco. Ehrlich tried to get slots through legislative action and the Democrats shot him down because “that is no way to balance a budget.” O’Malley, who was vehemently opposed to slots, was elected and all of the sudden slots are a good idea to raise money. They put it on the ballot as a referendum which means it becomes part of the state Constitution. It is never a good idea to put something like this in the Constitution. It passed and now they are stuck with the rules which can only be changed with another referendum. If they had legislated it they could have changed it with the legislative process.
Now we have slots that can’t be put into place because the rules are all screwed up. We have gone 7 years since Ehrlich introduced them which means if they had enacted the slots then they would be in place and generating revenue.
Maryland can’t get its act together because it is run by liberal Democrats and, like nearly every state run by Democrats, it is run poorly and in the red.
The people of Maryland need to wake up and start voting out all the people who keep making the messes. Einstein once said that doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result was the definition of insanity.
The people of Maryland are insane.
