Maybe Congress Should Mind Its Own Business
Sep 13, 2014 Opinion, Political
Sixteen female Senators have sent a letter to the NFL Commissioner calling for a zero tolerance policy regarding domestic violence after the Ray Rice video was released.
[note]Many of these women defended Bill Clinton who is a known sexual predator.[/note]
Why is this Congress’ business? It would seem to me that Congress should worry about the nation and its problems and leave private business to solve its issues without the nanny state jumping in.
It also seems to me that Congress might want to adopt a zero tolerance policy regarding its own members before demanding others do so. Congress is full of people who have done various bad things from tax evasion to domestic violence (gasp). If Congress wants to set an example how about it expel any member who has been involved in a domestic violence episode? How about dumping the tax evaders and the drunkards?
Clean up your own home before you demand others clean theirs.
I do not believe that Commissioner Roger Goodell is telling the truth about the Rice incident and I think he mismanaged it terribly. How the issue is handled is up to the NFL and not Congress.
Perhaps Goodell should respond to the letter by informing the Senators that the NFL is a profitable business that generates 6 billion dollars a year in profit and that its problems are not the concern of Congress. He might want to let them know that while the NFL is profitable the US is 17 TRILLION dollars in debt (and continues to run a deficit) and their attention might be better focused on solving their issues instead of worrying about things that are not their business.
He might even offer to give them some advice on working to get rid of the debt they have accumulated.
Spousal abuse (whether a man or a woman is the abuser) is a bad thing and needs to be addressed by private organizations in the manner they see fit. It is not the business of Congress or the harpies who want some face time.
If these Senators want to make an impact perhaps they could write letters to law enforcement agencies demanding zero tolerance policies since police officers are involved in more domestic violence incidents (nearly twice the rate) than the general population.
Then again that would not be their business though they would at least be interacting with another government agency rather than a private business.
Of course, the first step would be for Congress to clean its ranks of law breakers, sexual harassers, predators and those who engage in domestic violence.
They turn a blind eye to their own and stick their noses in the business of others.
Better yet, these folks might want to turn their attention toward the Muslim Terrorists who treat women badly as a way of life.
No, these morons will embrace them.

Family Upset That Thug Relative Was Shot
Dec 2, 2013 Commentary, Second Amendment
A young thug went into a store to rob it at gunpoint. A law abiding citizen with a Concealed Carry Permit pulled his firearm and told the thug to put his gun down. The thug turned toward the law abiding citizen and before he was able to raise his weapon the thug was shot.
The Good Samaritan was able to put down a criminal and keep innocent folks from possibly being injured or killed.
Anyone find anything wrong with this?
Well the thug’s family did. Thug momma said the person who shot her thug son should have minded his own business. You see, this thug using a firearm to commit a crime is no one’s business and that fellow who shot the thug was wrong in this.
Notice momma thug never says her boy was wrong for committing an armed robbery. Notice she does not discuss how her son involved himself in the business of the people who just wanted to conduct their transactions without fearing for their lives.
No, the way she sees it her little thug son should have been left alone to rob that store like his momma raised him to do.
The thug boy will live and when he is released from the hospital he will have new charges added to his already colorful rap sheet.
The only problem I see is that the law abiding citizen fired five shots and the thug is still alive. I am not saying he should have been killed or that I wish him dead. What I am saying is that the guy might need some more range time to ensure he hits his target when he shoots. I can’t imagine he hit the thug five times and he still lived so he must have missed a few times.
Regardless, he is a hero (though he probably does not think so). I don’t care what momma thug says, this guy did the right thing.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

New York Plan Shows Why NOT To Go There
May 7, 2013 Political
Governor Cuomo of New York will launch an ad campaign in other states touting the benefits of locating businesses in the Empire State. Cuomo’s ads will air outside New York and feature the voice of actor Robert DeNiro telling folks that New York is on the rebound.
The first problem with this is that the state is using money from the federal disaster aid sent to help those who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy. That money is supposed to help those people restore their lives and rebuild their properties. While many are still without a home or power the governor is taking money meant to help them and using it to lure business to the state.
This seems like a criminal act and should be investigated. The money sent to the state came from taxpayers all over the country and was designated for use in helping victims of the hurricane. Using it for any other purpose is wrong. Why would any business want to relocate to a place that does this kind of thing?
The next issue is the environment in New York. New York is a high tax state. Many wealthy people and a number of businesses have left the state because of its high taxes. Why would a business want to move to New York when states like Florida and Texas offer more tax friendly environments?
It is also important to note that New York is not a state where freedom is honored or protected by the politicians in charge. New York City has a mayor who thinks he should dictate how much salt and trans fats a person can eat and what size sugary drink they can consume. The state has recently enacted restrictive and unconstitutional gun laws (on top of already restrictive and unconstitutional gun laws) that infringe upon the rights of law abiding citizens.
Why would any business want to go to New York knowing that the government there does not uphold the Constitution?
While it is true that some business owners might be anti gun and welcome that environment it is important to note that if the state is willing to ignore the Constitution with regard to gun rights then it will feel free to ignore other constitutionally protected rights. Once a business assumes all the costs involved in moving it will be held captive to a government that has no problem raising taxes and infringing on rights.
Businesses should consider tax friendly and freedom loving states instead of New York.
And Cuomo should be investigated for improper use of federal tax dollars.
Be wary business owners. The lure will be filled with honey but the result will be full of manure…
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Businesses Seeking Relief From Obamacare
Mar 27, 2013 Political
Anyone with a brain knew Obamacare would cause problems. The law and the regulations implemented to enforce it are cumbersome and do nothing to help. The cost of the program has risen since it was enacted (they lied about what it would cost) and the downstream current of the law has caused the cost of private insurance to go up. The DHHS has admitted that because of Obamacare insurance will cost much more.
Businesses across the nation are appealing to the government for relief from the costs of this law. Specifically, businesses in states that have refused to bow down to big government are the ones asking for relief. They need help because the SCOTUS shot down the Medicaid requirement. The SCOTUS ruled that states could not be compelled to participate in the expansion and a number of them have decided not to do so.
This means that businesses will have to foot the bills and if any of their employees end up in a state exchange the employers will have to pay $3000 for each employee who joins.
This means a lot of businesses will end up in financial trouble. Some will likely end up closing their doors or they will fire enough people to get under the 50 employee mark where Obamacare is applicable.
It certainly sucks to be in the position in which these businesses find themselves but they should not get any kind of relief. If they are given relief then the costs will be shifted to everyone else. Those of us who pay taxes are already paying for the law and those who benefit from it. We are footing the bill for everyone else and if we have to cover the cost to these businesses then we will be paying even more.
It is not my job to provide health care dollars for someone else. It is my job to take care of me and my family. This is true of anyone who knows what responsibility is. Yes, we need programs in place to cover the absolute poorest among us and those who absolutely cannot afford health care BUT there are not many of those people out there.
Those who can afford cell phones, multiple cars, satellite or cable TV, expensive clothes and the newest modern gadgets can pay for their own health care insurance.
Anyone who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and/or drinks a few beers or other drinks could quit doing so and use the money to buy basic health insurance. Give up the cell phone and the satellite/cable TV and they could buy a better plan.
It is about responsibility and choice.
As for the businesses, if they do not feel the pain and if their workers do not feel the pain then they will never learn. Anyone affected who voted for Obama and his minions voted for this to take place. Those who did not vote for him are, sadly, collateral damage in the war on the people waged by government.
They were all warned and now they are finding out that their decision (or the decision of the low information voters) comes with consequences.
Let them live with their decisions or the decisions of others. If their business cannot thrive in a state that has refused the Medicaid expansion then these businesses are free to move to states that have.
Or they can fire any of their employees who voted for Obama until they get down to 49.
Then they can ignore the law and their former employees can deal with the change they voted for.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Let The Obamacare Cull begin
Feb 20, 2013 Political
You have to pass it to know what is in it. Those words from Nancy Pelosi described the inappropriately named, Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. It seems that on a daily basis some new problem with Obamacare comes to light.
For those of us who did not want this monstrosity the revelations are not surprising. We knew that there would be very few free rides and that a much larger audience than was advertised would end up paying. We also knew that there would be rationing and that death panels would be real. We knew that this was unaffordable. We knew that people would be burdened with regulations and costs and that they would be surprised because they thought they were going to get stuff for free.
They were wrong and now it looks like many more people will be paying for insurance or paying a tax (called a penalty) for not having insurance. The fund set up by the government for high risk people is out of money and no new enrollees are being allowed. The plan is costing billions more than we were told AND there will be about as many folks uninsured as before the plan was signed into law (which is probably what they want to get to single payer).
Another thing the informed knew was that businesses would react in a manner that was favorable to their businesses and that has happened.
Universal Orlando (one of the largest employers in Central Florida) will stop covering part time employees. The mini plans were low cost ($18 a week) and had minimal benefits but part time employees liked them. Obamacare does not allow them so these folks will be on their own. Many other companies are reducing the number of employee hours so that they do not have to provide insurance. Yes, those folks who thought they were going to get free health care or that their employers were going to be forced to provide wonderful care are going to be uninsured AND have less money in each paycheck. Wal Mart and Darden Restaurants are cutting hours to avoid Obamacare mandates and businesses with just over 50 employees (the Obamacare threshold) are scaling down to be under that number.
This is what happens when an intrusive government gets involved in things it has no business being in. The business community reacts in a manner that benefits its bottom line regardless of what the government wanted it to do.
I have no doubt that many of these folks who will be affected voted for Obama and supported Obamacare.
Now they will have to pay for that support and it will not be inexpensive.
Good. Pain is a great teacher.
I hope they learn a hard lesson.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
