These Kids Will Know It For Real, Soon Enough

A group of kids in Florida had an exercise where they pretended to live in a communist country in commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It sounds like a great exercise to get the kids involved and to teach them:

“I’m normally a nice person, but I have to be really firm with these people,” Stephany said. “They must come in, sit down and write this line on paper, front and back.”

The line: “I will serve the glorious East German state better.”

The students copied it repeatedly after watching a propaganda film depicting the evils of Western culture.

~snip~

“This was a project of the history club, and their idea was that students should really have an idea of what it was like to live in a communist state,” said social studies teacher Patricia Johnston, who helped organize the project and served as the lead “comrade.” Herald Tribune

This kind of instruction is very innovative and allows students to experience rather than absorb through reading and verbal instruction.

Unfortunately, the way this country is going these kids might very well find out what life in a communist country is really like.

At least they will be prepared.

Venezuela Shows Us How Great Socialism Is

Hugo Chavez rang in the New Year in Venezuela by rationing electricity. The government there owns damn near everything and the people are dirt poor. The country is a huge oil producer but is unable to generate much electricity because it depends on hydroelectric generators and there has been an ongoing drought.

So, Chavez celebrated the new Year by limiting the amount of electricity that businesses can use, what hours they can be open and what other items can use electricity and when (billboards, casinos, etc). There are penalties for businesses that do not comply with the order.

This is the Socialist nation that the liberals love so much. Penn, Obama, and a handful of others have all been down to kiss Chavez’s ring (or a lower and posterior part of his anatomy). He is held up as a great leader by the liberals who want our country to follow the path of Venezuela.

It is not hard to imagine being like Venezuela with Obama and his government taking over one private business after another. Obama took the lead of Bush and got government involved in the banking system (should have let them fail) and then moved on so that now we all own car companies. How long will it be before Obama is snapping up other private businesses? The government is already working on telling business how much executives may be paid. It is not a far stretch to get to the point where government is running everything (health care included). It happened in Venezuela and liberals love that place and its dictator.

If we have to ration anything then it should be food and water. Liberals get none until the crisis is over.

Never let a good crisis go to waste…

Commie- Czars

Or commissars, whatever you think the term most fits- the administration is riddled with them, much like termites eating their way through your home, so are they busy munching their way through our Constitution, our Rights, our lives.
We need Terminex, or the equivalent that gets rid of these governmental leeches.

There are just so many of them- and all of them with a negative agenda, when it comes to our Constitution.

Eric Holder  —  Attorney General of the United States.  A handpicked Obama/Jarrett selection, who earlier this year referred to the United States as “a nation of cowards” on race relations, Mr. Holder is a shiningly despicable example of everything wrong when politics and personal ambition dictate the parameters of American justice.

Prior to grasping the brass ring of the department where he’d toiled during the Clinton Administration, Mr. Holder was responsible for these widely-reported miscarriages of justice:            (1) He streamlined the Clinton Administration’s pardon of fugitive billionaire Marc Rich by steering Rich’s representatives to a former White House counsel, then helped lobby the President to pardon Rich (“an unrepentant fugitive wanted on extensive fraud, racketeering, and trading-with-the-enemy charges”).  Holder did so for personal gain, later admitting he hoped this would help him become Attorney General in a Gore administration.  Mr. Holder concealed the pardon negotiations from other prosecuting and investigative agencies to prevent their opposition.  Mr. Rich’s wife was a generous donor to both President Clinton’s library as well as his legal-defense fund.

 (2) “In 1999, over the objections of the FBI, the Bureau of Prisons, and prosecuting attorneys, Holder supported Clinton’s commutation of the sentences of 16 FALN conspirators. These pardons – of terrorists who even Holder has conceded had not expressed any remorse – were issued in the months after al-Qaeda’s 1998 U.S. embassy bombings…. The commutations were nakedly political, obviously designed by Clinton to assist his wife’s impending Senate campaign by appealing to New York’s substantial Puerto Rican vote.”
    (3) Holder was also instrumental in the “stealth pardons” of two Weather Underground terrorists, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans (both closely associated with President Obama’s terrorist friends, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn).  Rosenberg and Evans had been serving decades-long sentences for bombings targeting American government facilities. Again Holder helped circumvent the pardon process and  evade objections from prosecutors regarding the terrorists’ jail terms.

Just this summer, now-Attorney General Holder dismissed prosecution of an obvious case (it was filmed) of voter intimidation by members of the New Black Panthers, while also instigating prosecutorial investigations into CIA interrogation techniques of terrorist combatants.  Attorney General Holder is a strong advocate for the release of the Islamofascist enemy combatants currently held at Guantanamo Bay.
americanthinker.com

Yep, that is one- and he is the Attorney General, is supposed to uphold the law, not circumvent justice as he does routinely, a communist trait- favor the leftists
Then there is John Holdren, our proud nation’s Science Czar- Really??? Science? This is a comedy sketch, right?

John Holdren Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology   Other than Mr. Holdren’s well known and oft repeated morally relativistic denial of American exceptionalism, one and only one thing need to be said here about President Obama’s “Science” Czar – he is Barack Obama’s twin on the matter of abortion and has advocated compulsory abortion.  Here it is again:  President Obama searched for, reached out, and chose as his chief “science advisor” a plasma physicist who advocates compulsory abortion.

As John Griffing wrote of Holdren in “Enough is Enough,” for American Thinker
..
.for a true outrage, consider new Czar of Science, John P. Holdren, who, in a stunning display of unabashed evil, has actively advocated compulsory abortion
There exists ample authority under which population growth could be regulated…It has been concluded that compulsory population-control lawseven including laws requiring compulsory abortioncould be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

If that doesn’t send a chill down your spine, consider his words, “All the children who are born, beyond what would be required to keep up the population to a desired level, must necessarily perish, unless room be made for them by the death of grown persons.”  Let that sink in: an American official supports forced abortion and the death of “grown persons.”  We know what that looks like. It has been official policy for years in Communist China.

But the person who may be the most influential in how we live, and under what restraints, is our Resident’s Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein.

Cass Sunstein  —  Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs.  He is a Harvard Law School professor and newly-minted husband of President Obama’s Senior Director, Multilateral Affairs, National Security Council, the Israel-phobic Samantha Power (one of several husband-wife teams in the Obama White House).  Mr. Sunstein’s belief structure could understandably be called “Leftist kook” or “fringe” if not downright lunatic.  Herewith:
In a 2007 speech at Harvard, Sunstein called for banning all hunting in the United States.  All.  Everywhere.
He actually put in writing, in his 2004 book, Animals that, “Animals should be permitted to bring [law] suit, with human beings as their representatives….”

Were Mr. Sunstein to succeed as President Obama’s head regulator of all things American, what might happen to those millions of hunting rifles and shotguns he doesn’t want gathering dust in your cabinet?
Mr. Sunstein is a reputed “1st Amendment scholar.”  Having attended law school myself and actually practiced law for a quarter century rather than retreat to the head-swelling-brain-shrinking environs of academia, I can assure you that if he is, America is in very deep trouble.  President Obama  has made clear his White House Masterregulator is intended to regulate virtually every aspect of American’s lives – including the environment, healthcare, finance, and the economy – regardless of your feelings about such matters much less your freedom and liberty.  Sunstein has argued in his prolific literary works (one bookstore tour de force was a whopping 84 pages) that the Internet is anti-democratic because of the way users can filter out information of their own choosing.

A system of limitless individual choices, with respect to communications, is not necessarily in the interest of citizenship and self-government… Democratic efforts to reduce the resulting problems ought not be rejected in freedom’s name.

americanthinker.com

And this guy is a 1st Amendment scholar? Really? I mean, in the theoretical world of Narnia, perhaps- but the first Amendment has no boundaries other than the common sense ones, (cannot shout “fire” in a crowded theater, etc.), but to limit freedom of speech? And that is just one part of this equation. Religion and freedom of the press are mixed in there also, and under fire just as surely.

This is a guy who believes that our Resident should be the ultimate arbiter of what is constitutional- and that judges need not weigh in.

The interpretation of Federal Law should  be made not by judges but by the beliefs and commitments of the U.S. president and those around him, according to President Obama’s newly confirmed regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein.

“There is no reason to believe that in the face of statutory ambiguity, the meaning of federal law should be settled by the inclinations and predispositions of federal judges. The outcome should instead depend on the commitments and beliefs of the President and those who operate under him,” argued Sunstein.

This statement was the central thesis of Sunstein’s 2006 Yale Law School paper, “Beyond Marbury: The Executive’s Power to Say What the Law Is.” The paper, in which he argues the president and his advisers should be the ones to interpret federal laws, was obtained and reviewed by WND.

Sunstein debated the precedent-setting 1803 case, Marbury v. Madison, which determined it is “emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is.”

wnd.com

Yeah- no I don’t think that our Resident should act like a King (which he is not) and interpret the laws- that is precisely what we have courts for- and indeed, in the case of Marbury v. Madison, have ruled satisfactorily  on this issue, but apparently, not for Mr. Sunstein. But to even postulate otherwise is rather traitorous, given that this would treat the Constitution as an “Inconvenient” piece of paper- and it is much, much more than that.

The crux of our problem with Mr. Sunstein is that he will be writing the regulations that will be governing our lives, taxing our money, and curtailing our freedoms. These will encompass many of the freedoms we take for granted now, not just freedom of speech, but through his regulatory powers, he will be able to have a disproportionate say in our lives, all facets, and all the little nooks and crannies. No Amendment would be safe.

Now, I am sure that there are some on the left, who relish constrained freedoms- they will gladly trade their freedoms for a nice, womb-to- tomb controlled existence- much like that traitor character in the Matrix, there are some who can’t stand to live on their feet, using their talent to get ahead. No, these people are scared-

And they are more than willing to live on their knees.

Comrades, Unite!

Yeah- right. Still, if you had been in on the conference call between Yosi Sargent, of the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts), and several artists, you might be excused for thinking you were in on some communist propaganda meeting, where artists were asked very specifically to produce art designed to further our Tsar’s Dictator’s, traitor’s, Supreme Leader’s Resident’s agenda. This is, to my mind, unbelievable- back before I got palsy, I had thought to go into fine arts, with an emphasis on commercial art, since my father was in advertising- I had an in, so to speak- well that was not to be, but along the way I became fast friends with many artists.

Most were liberal at the time, but they would not have even thought in their wildest nightmares of working with ANY administration- and back then it was the Carter administration that was in power (if that is the term you wish to use)- but back then, although most artists were liberal, they were more consistently anti- establishment than anything else.

No more- now there are a bunch of “artists” who are willing to sell out for sheer propaganda purposes, each hoping they will do as well as Shepard Fairey, the “artist” who made the “Hope” propaganda poster for the Resident’s campaign.

The problem, as Andrew Breitbart and his Big Hollywood.com has pointed out, is the collusion of the White House, and the NEA, which receives grant money, which it doles out to artists- that would be fine, but there is not supposed to be collusion with regard to a specific administration or that administration’s goals.

On August 10th, the National Endowment for the Arts, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and the Corporation for National and Community Service hosted a conference call with a handpicked arts group. This arts group played a key role in Obama’s arts effort during his election campaign, as declared by the organizers of the call, and many on the call played a role in the now famous ObamaHope poster.

bighollywood.breitbart.com

Yes, in an effort that rivals that of Josef Goebbels in Nazi Germany, or the ubiquitous posters of “Workers of Communist Russia”, the NEA sought to form a solid partnership with artists so they could get those fabulous Art Deco- type poster art for cheap- and have all that wonderfully positive spin that comes from the appearance that this was a spontaneous “burst” of creativity on the part of the artists, and brought on by adoration of our Supreme Leader, Messiah, Chosen One, traitorLittle Hitler, Resident.

“We’re going to need your help, and we’re going to come at you with some specific ‘asks’ here,” said Buffy Wicks, deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. “But we know that you guys are ready for it and eager to participate, so one we want to thank you, and two, I hope you guys are ready.”

Wicks, who did not respond to requests for comment, was one of several officials on the call — along with then-NEA Director of Communications Yosi Sergant and Michael Skolnik, political director for hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons — seeking focused efforts by the artists in health care, energy and environment, education and community renewal.

Sergant, who was reassigned by the NEA last week, said on the call that the effort was the first of a “brand new conversation.”

He told the artists, “Pick — I would encourage you to pick something, whether it’s health care, education, the environment, you know, there’s four key areas that the corporation has identified as the areas of service. My ask would be to apply artistic, you know, your artistic creative communities’ utilities and bring them to the table.”

foxnews.com

Yeahhhhhhhh, that’s the ticket, yeaaaa, pick something and let’s make us some propaganda! We will pay you to adore our Leader, traitor, Resident and his programs.

Can you say collusion? These brain- dead people in the WH staff have no morals, and no limits they will not cross in their efforts to advance their communistic agenda. What blows my mind is that there are artists who would actually go along with this- but I guess they want what they perceive as the short-cut to true fame. What a shame that principles are in such short supply.

According to the newly-released transcript, Skolnik told Courrielche and the other artists that he had “been asked by folks in the White House and folks in the NEA” to participate about a month prior to the call.

“You are the thought leaders,” Skolnik told the artists. “You are the ones that, if you create a piece of art or promote a piece of art or create a campaign for a company, and tell our country and our young people sort of what to do and what to be in to; and what’s cool and what’s not cool. And so I’m hoping that through this group and the goal of all this and the goal of this phone call, is through this group that we can create a stronger community amongst ourselves to get involved in things that we’re passionate about as we did during the campaign but continue to get involved in those things, to support some of the president’s initiatives, but also to do things that we are passionate about and to push the president and push his administration.”

foxnews.com

Wow- “thought leaders”- also known as propagandists, which is more correct, if less “tasteful”. But socialist progressives like to “re- invent” words to make them more palatable, not just for the poster art, but for the “unwashed masses” as well. The idea, of course, is to bend people’s minds in the direction the administration wants them to go- rather much like grooming Bonsai trees, without all that messy trimming. Imposing one’s will on a populace is not a new story- we just generally hope there’s less of that in America, but these days we are looking more and more Communist in our artwork and propaganda.

I can just imagine if George Bush and his staff had tried to do this, the charges of “blatant propaganda” and “mind control”, and I am sure a plethora of other charges would have been hurled at the administration by the outraged Left.

I just can’t believe that the left would think this was a good idea- it just makes them look like a political “Inspector Clouseau”, bumbling around in the most idiotic way.

Perhaps that’s just the way they roll.

Long August Brings Out Best, And Worst, In America

August was a stressful month for members of Congress as they had to go home and face their constituents. They did not want to face them because a large number of them do not want government run health care and they do not want the government to completely overhaul the health care system. Most people want the problems with the system to be addressed while leaving those things that work, alone. Anti capitalists want the government to run the whole shebang and drive private insurance companies out of business.

Speaking of anti capitalist, and completely off topic, Michael Moore has a new movie out that is against capitalism. He claims that it is bad, causes people to be poor and is evil (and has members of the clergy agree with him). Isn’t it rather funny that this moron, who makes his fortune off capitalism, has a movie against it? Michael Moore owns stocks in companies (including Halliburton) and he invests his money in order to make more money. Yet, this slob (who really should have been aborted) is railing against capitalism. The real way to have lots of poverty is to attempt to redistribute people’s money. Socialism is fun until you run out of someone else’s money. al Reuters

Back to the health care debate. The town hall meetings were pretty contentious. Yes people raised their voices and some of them became extremely vocal but they were not violent and for the most part, were respectful (at least they were as respectful as the person deserved). I cannot blame some folks for getting pretty peeved because their Senator or Representative lied to them or tried to blow smoke in a dark place. Frank Kratovil’s office told me he had not made up his mind and a few days later he was out hawking the Obama plan. Obviously, his office lied.

As people became more vocal members of Congress became more reclusive. Many of them did not hold town hall meetings and some, including Harry Reid, held events that were by invitation only and that cost money to get in. As things heated up, Barack Obama mobilized his army of thugs in the unions and in his other groups and asked them to get in the game and bust a few heads. Then, union thugs began taking up many of the seats at town hall meetings. They began harassing those who disagreed with the health care overhaul. Obama’s jack booted thugs became physical and tried to intimidate the opposition, Chicago style.

People were threatened, people were beaten and there was a lot of bad behavior. This was perpetrated by the thugs Obama mobilized to “get in our faces.”

Then a funny thing happened. People started bringing guns to these events. This was done in accordance with the law and no one broke any law whatsoever when carrying a weapon despite the panic of those on the left and in the media (but I repeat myself). Chris Matthews lost the tingle in his leg and became upset that someone would carry a gun to this kind of event. One media outlet cropped a video and made and issue of white people carrying guns to events now that we have a black man in the White House, you know racist Republicans and all that. Turns out the guy with the gun was black and the video was doctored to deliberately deceive the public. Propaganda from the media wing of the Democratic Party.

While all these bed wetters were crying about guns being carried at events they ignored the Obama thugs who had beaten people for opposing health care overhaul. Kenneth Gladney is a black man who was so severely beaten by Obama’s thugs that he had to use a wheelchair for a while after the beating. Where was Matthews and the rest of the media decrying this beating? They were nowhere to be found because Obama’s thugs were doing the beating. You can bet that if it had been a liberal black guy beaten by conservative whites the news would have played it 24/7.

After this beating people began carrying guns and there were relatively few incidents. John Hawkins at Town Hall has an article up with the 7 most embarrassing town hall moments for the Democrats. One of the items he writes about is the Gladney beating:

A black man [Gladney] at a political rally was assaulted by white thugs who used racial epithets. The man was beaten so badly that he was forced to use a wheelchair and the response from liberals was…well, we’re actually still waiting for a response. The conservative response was to start bringing guns to the town hall meetings. Since then, for the most part, the unions have decided to behave themselves. It’s just more proof than an armed society is a polite society.

The conservative response was to bring guns. Notice how the Obama union thugs did not beat anyone else after conservatives started bringing guns. I know the liberal bed wetters were all upset about the guns and how horrible it was but the reality is that people have a right to protect themselves and if Obama is going to send his goons out then people need to have protection. It was Obama who said if they bring a knife, we bring a gun and in that light I say if they send union thugs, we take a gun.

Remember, there were no other incidents of union thugs beating people up after conservatives started carrying guns. The thugs think twice about bullying people if there is actually a chance that there will be resistance.

There was however, an incident where a man lost his finger. A man who is opposed to government run health care got into a fight with a man who supports it and the deranged lunatic bit off the man’s little finger. There is no telling if the perpetrator was a union thug because he ran away but all indications are that he was some half baked liberal in the crowd of Move On supporters who did not like the fact that a citizen opposed the sainted one’s health care plans. The lunatic violated the personal space of William Rice who says he felt threatened and popped the guy in the nose. The fight ensued and Rice lost a finger (which could not be reattached) and the coward ran away.

If Rice had a gun strapped to his side it is doubtful the lunatic would have harassed him.

September is here and on Tuesday the Congress reconvenes after its month long recess. The recess was anything but the peaceful vacation they expected to have as in years past. This time they (those who actually ventured out in public) got an earful from constituents who know that it is unconstitutional for the government to get involved in health care and who know that any involvement by the government will be a disaster.

Government run Social Security is nearly out of money. Government run Medicare and Medicaid are broke and spending more than they take in. Government run programs are always over budget and poorly run and there is no reason to believe that the government can run health care any better than private companies could if they were unencumbered by ridiculous regulations and mandates that drive up the cost of the plans they offer.

Health care needs to be fixed but not in the way the Democrats want to “fix” it. They want to control your lives and taking over health care is the best way for them to do it.

If they get control of health care we will need to carry guns to the doctor in order to get properly treated…

Of course, gun control is also on their list. Though I think they should try union control instead.
