The Constitution Is Written In English
Dec 31, 2010 Political
The liberal genius (I know, like a certain fat man in a red suit, they do not exist) named Ezra Klein is having a bit of trouble. Klein, the person who started JournoList and is a contributor to liberal outlets, was on MSNBC during a discussion about the Constitution. The discussion was about the new Republican controlled House planning on having the Constitution read aloud to the House body. Klein does not think that this will be productive because he thinks the “Constitution has no binding power on anything” and is “confusing because it’s over 100 years old.”
The age of the Constitution is more than twice what Klein stated but what is a hundred years or so among liberals?
The Constitution is the document that outlines our government. It is the governing document of this nation and it is what we base our laws on. I would say that this means it absolutely has binding power (but if not, can we ignore Klein’s First Amendment right to say such stupid things and silence him). This, for Klein’s benefit, is why the Constitutionality of laws is debated in our system of government and why we have a Supreme Court. That body decides if a law is Constitutional and thus, has any binding power.
I also can’t figure out why it is so confusing. It is written in ENGLISH. Might be difficult for immigrants who do not have the common sourtesy to learn our language but for the ENGLISH speaking among us, it should pose no problem.
Sure, there are words that had different meanings then but we have dictionaries from then and scholars versed in such things to tell us how the words were used. Better yet, we have the writings of the men who actually wrote the Constitution and those writings explain what they did and what they meant.
The Second Amendment is easy to understand if one reads the words of the people who wrote it. Those words describe what they meant so it is easy to see how it applies.
The confusion for liberal morons like Klein is that they do not take the time and effort to research these things and, more importantly in their case, they do not want to know what was meant. These people prefer to think of the Constitution as a living document that can be interpreted in different ways for different times.
This is not what the Founders had in mind. They were brilliant in designing a system that could be changed should something no longer be appropriate or if new situations arise that could not have possibly been imagined over 200 years ago.
But to Klein the Constitution is confusing because it is more than 100 years old. Perhaps this is why liberals have trouble understanding the Bible. It is a lot more than 200 years old and was translated from Hebrew. To be fair to Klein who is Jewish, perhaps he has trouble with the Torah for the same reason…
Under Klein’s premise, can we scrap laws that are more than 100 years old? The Sixteenth Amendment (allowing them to tax our income) will be 100 years old in 2013. Can we scrap it as too confusing? Then again, the tax laws are confusing so maybe he is on to something.
Oh wait, no the Constitution is clear about it but politicians have muddied the waters with intrusive rules.
In any event, it looks like we should start weeding out anything that was written more than 100 years ago because those things would be too confusing for morons like Klein.
Then again, liberals might like that because they have been able to rewrite history and if we scrap the stuff Klein considers confusing then we will be left with liberal myth.
Just as liberals like it.
No, I think we should keep what we have and reform the educational system instead.
If our founding document, written in ENGLISH, is too much for a college educated guy like Klein the obviously the educational system has failed.
Which would explain why Obama, Pelosi, Reid and many other politicians of all stripes have trouble with the Constitution.
Ezra Klein, if you happen across this blog post it was written in 2010 and in English. You should have no trouble understanding that I think you are a moron.
Isn’t if strange that the Constitution is never confusing when liberals use it to justify things that are not even in it (like abortion) or to twist parts to fit an agenda (like individual mandates)?

Voting Is For Citizens Only
Oct 25, 2010 Political
The dilution of American culture and its rules continues as some states are considering letting noncitizens vote. They are doing this in spite of the fact that the Constitution does not allow noncitizens to vote.
Let me be clear, this is not about illegal aliens who have no rights and should be removed. This is about those who are here legally and, in some cases, paying taxes. They do not have the right to vote and they think it is not fair. After all, they are here legally and (in many cases) pay taxes, so they should be allowed to vote. The big argument comes from folks who pay taxes and think they should be allowed to vote. Nice concept so how about we deny the vote to anyone who does not pay taxes?
The Constitution is pretty clear about this. Voting is not even the right of the people in the original Constitution. Elections call for electors selected from the states or by the state’s legislatures. The closet thing is the election of House members who are elected “…by the people of the several states.” Then electors and qualifications are discussed so it is not clear as to whom is allowed to acutally vote. One thing is certain, all other elections are done by the states and not by the people.
Several amendments to the Constitution changed these procedures and electors are now selected based upon the vote of the state. When people vote for a president they are actually voting for an elector to cast a vote for that person in Congress (the electoral college). Senators are now selected by popular vote in the state and no one may be denied the “right” to vote.
All this is well and good and there have been plenty of changes but one thing is abundantly clear. In all instances where voting is mentioned in any amendment that discusses the issue the word citizen is used in conjunction with the “right” to vote. The 14th, 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th Amendments all qualify who may vote with the word CITIZEN.
Therefore, noncitizens are NOT allowed to vote.
People who come here and want to vote should have an allegiance to this country and they can demonstrate that by becoming a citizen.
If that is not good enough then they can always go back whence they came.

In God Is Our Trust; Happy Independence Day…
Jul 4, 2010 Political
Enjoy it while you still have it…

Happy Independence Day to all Americans in this great country. It seems rather strange to me that we celebrate our Independence after a victory over tyranny while experiencing that some kind of government tyranny in this day and age.
In 234 years we have gone from a new nation celebrating Independence to a battered nation whose Independence is teetering on the brink of extinction by an ever reaching government whose intrusion into our lives knows no bounds.
That is what we faced centuries ago and we prevailed. It will be a bit more difficult now because the enemy is within. It is insidious and it desires to “fundamentally transform” our nation into a bastion of Socialism. It desires to have government involved in every aspect of our lives. It desires to enslave us to government so that we will do the bidding of those in power.
That can never be allowed to happen. We must not go down without a fight or this nation, a nation smiled upon by God and born of liberty and freedom, this nation that has achieved more in 234 years than any other nation in history, this nation that has produced more and contributed more to the human experience than any other, will be but a footnote in a future history book.
The liberal/progressives have taken advantage of our weakened state to impose their anti liberty agenda. They have seized upon every crisis (whether real or manufactured) in order to ram a liberty killing agenda down our throats. They have taken advantage of our weakened state, a weakness they helped produce, in order to attack from within because they believe we will not be able to counter their assault. They are quite wrong.
To paraphrase Charlie Daniels; This Lady may have stumbled but she ain’t never fell and if the liberals don’t believe that they can all go straight to hell [from the song – In America].
So on this Independence Day when we sit around with family and friends celebrating the sacrifices made on our behalf let us vow to never let those sacrifices be forgotten. Let us vow to never allow our country to become enslaved again by any enemy, foreign or domestic.
Because we certainly have plenty of both.
If we shall falter it will not be without a fight.

Misguided Priorities Of The Left
May 11, 2010 Political
The Democrat party in this country is misguided and has priorities that are backwards. Two simple examples to demonstrate the foolishness of the left. Call this a “teaching moment.”
The country is being invaded by illegal aliens and the federal government has not done a thing to stop the invasion. The federal government has an obligation under Article 4 Section 4 of the US Constitution to protect the states from invasion. The feds are failing miserably in that duty. The most that politicians from either party can come up with is some sort of amnesty program to reward those who broke the law to get here. The federal government has been so impotent that states have had to take matters into their own hands.
The state of Arizona, a state with around a half a million illegal aliens, recently passed a law allowing local police officers to, with strict guidelines, check the immigration status of anyone they believe to be in the state (and therefore the country) illegally. The liberals have gone nuts over this and Barack Obama and his regime are working on the matter. First Obama and his mouthpieces have denounced the law, talked about how stupid it is and then told us how it could be abused by police officers. These progressive morons want us to believe that the state of Arizona should scuttle its law because it might be abused.
As an aside, maybe we can repeal income taxes because Congress could abuse its authority to take them. Come to think of it, it has. We could use this reasoning on any law and it would make as little sense about those as it does with regard to this one.
Arizona had to act because the federal government would not. The politicians in DC are too busy trying to figure out how to appease illegals and make them part of a voting block to give Democrats a perpetual majority. Illegals are taking over this country because politicians are tweaking how to get votes.
But Big Dog, what is the misguided part of all this? Well, besides the stupidity at the federal level, here is where the Democrats are misguided.
The Attorney General, Eric Holder, has all the resources at his disposal looking at the Arizona law to see if it violates the Constitution (which means they are looking for ways to say that it does) and is looking for ways to negate the law. Yes, the federal government is considering suing Arizona.
The Democrats in this regime are so misguided that they will send people to harass the state and its government while ignoring the illegals who are breaking the law. Most people would say the Arizona law is a wake up call for the feds to get their act together. Not with this group. No way. They are too busy working to undermine the state. Think of it this way. The people of this regime are so misguided that if they send people to Arizona it will not be in the form of help to get the border under control, it will be in the form of lawyers who will sue the state.
The above example involves the state of Arizona and its unique situation. But how does this issue affect the rest of us and how is the government misguided in that regard?
Under the Arizona law, immigrants are required to have their papers with them at all times (this is also federal law) and to show them when asked to do so. The feds think this is profiling and racist and that it is unfair. You know, people of color will be singled out and we don’t do this to others.
Glad you asked. The health care takeover bill that Obama and the Democrats rammed down our throats requires people to prove they have health insurance. The IRS will be the enforcement agency and we will be required to indicate on our tax returns that we do have health insurance. In other words, the IRS will be asking us for our papers. Under the health care bill, in order to be a citizen in good standing in America, in order to be here legally, we must have health insurance. Without health insurance we will not be citizens in good standing.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the IRS will be demanding to see proof that we are here legally and they can do so without the same amount of reasonable suspicion required in Arizona. And since illegals don’t usually file income taxes they will not be asked for their proof. How dare the government profile the taxpayers like that.
The amazing thing is that the feds will go out of their way to protect immigrants from being asked for their papers but will require the rest of us to show ours.
This is another misguided effort on the part of Democrats. Come to think of it, maybe we should repeal this law because it might be abused…..
I hope this “teaching moment” was helpful in demonstrating how the Democrats have their priorities all wrong and how they would rather fight American citizens than go after illegals.
Never surrender, never submit.

I Don’t Worry About The Constitution – Phil Hare (D-IL)
Apr 2, 2010 Political
Representative Phil Hare, Democrat from Illinois was answering a few questions from constituents and when asked about the Constitutionality of the health care plan he said “I don’t worry about the Constitution.”
Here is a person who was elected to office and who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution saying that he did not worry about the Constitution. Bingo.
None of them do.
When asked where in the Constitution Congress was given the authority to do what it did he answered that he believed that the Constitution gave the right to “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
That phrase comes from the Declaration of Independence.
Perhaps this explains why the Congressman does not care about the Constitution. Maybe it is because he swore to uphold it and has no idea what it actually says.
He is no different from any of the others who think they can do what they want without regard to our Constitution.
[note]If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual State. In a single State, if the persons entrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.
