Plans for New Orleans
Jun 18, 2008 Political
I have a post up comparing the response of citizens in Iowa to those of New Orleans and in it I make a comparison of the cultural differences that left those in New Orleans in dire straights, pointing their fingers at the federal government and crying racism to the Iowans, who are having problems such as looting, and how they reacted to the crisis there.
I was flamed by a bunch of people who live in New Orleans and who blame the entire issue on the federal government and the Corps of Engineers who built the levees poorly and caused the whole issue. Not one of the commenters defending New Orleans could find one issue that lays some of the blame on the corrupt government pervasive in Louisiana and particularly present in New Orleans. New Orleans was not that bad. It could not have been if William Jefferson had time to take military vehicles and soldiers away from rescue mission in order to go check on his house and remove the bribe money he had in his freezer. He had time to do all that and then leave without checking on the people affected by the flood. Ray Nagin stayed in a hotel in the fetal position and Governor Blanco cried on TV. Neither of them was on the ground in NO directing things.
Things could not have been that bad since all the cops stopped what they were doing and helped the looters and then left town. Certainly things could not be too bad if the cops could leave. Let’s fault everyone else for not getting there immediately and helping out when those sworn to stay and help, left.
Of course, what happened there was a tragedy. It was caused by many things and there is plenty of blame to go around. I know it sucks but I did not do it, I did not cause it, I did not abandon anyone and I did not commit crimes after it. Even though I had nothing to do with it happening my tax dollars have been sent there to fix it (not only mine but a lot of people’s). I said at the time they needed to watch every penny like a hawk because it would be spent on non flood related items. Mary Landreau submitted a 400+ page request that had us paying for alligator farms in areas NOT affected by the storm. I guess she figured she could use the tragedy and our generosity to gussy up the place. When your major concern after such an incident is having Mardi Gras, you have priority issues.
I felt sorry for the people when this happened but to tell the truth I am tired of hearing all the whining about it from those living there. They have enough time to type on their computers perhaps they should spend it working. I know 90% of the people got out and did what is right and it might seem unfair for me to paint with a broad brush based on the 10% who did not. However, a lot of people certainly painted the government with a broad brush based on the failure of about 10% of the people. No other state affected by Katrina is getting rebuilt any faster and I don’t hear them crying. I did not hear them then.
Here is my plan for New Orleans. Bulldoze the place in. Fill it wil concrete or dirt. It would be best if they dug a ditch across the southern border and pushed all the dirt into New Orleans and let the water back fill the ditch. Fill the ditch with alligators and that will keep the ILLEGAL immigrants down. Filling in New Orleans will keep it from getting flooded again. Then, they can build a city inland where it is above sea level.
Other than that, I don’t want to hear about all their problems. I did not cause them and about now I don’t care about them.
The victim mentality…

NJ Wants to Tax Fast Food
Apr 30, 2008 Political
An idea has been floating around New Jersey that would have people pay a sin tax on fast food. The suggestion came from a hospital association meeting as a way to help raise money for financially strapped hospitals (stop treating ILLEGALS). The interesting thing is that a spokesperson for the governor said there was no plan to tax fast food but that Governor Corzine was open to reasonable solutions to help solve financing problems.
To Democrats taxing something is a reasonable solution. They ignore the fact that people are getting soaked now because of taxes and high prices. The economy is in a slow cycle that started when Democrats took control of Congress and their answer is to tax, tax, tax.
Fast food is not a necessity so if they tax it then people should stop eating it. Take the money they save and buy food to make lunches. Skip fast food all together and pretty soon the government will get the message.
New Jersey is mismanaged and corrupt. I know people who have been victims of the corruption and who are being ruined by corrupt politicians, judges and police officers. They continue to have financial problems despite the fact they have a huge gaming industry that brings in a ton of money. The corrupt people there are unable to keep spending under control and be responsible with money.
I am absolutely certain that if they could figure out how to measure how much air we breathe they would tax that too. They would probably justify it by telling us to get in shape so we breathe less and use air more efficiently.
I can imagine the new jingle if they start taxing Big Macs:
You deserve a break today
so get up and get away
from New Jersey
Democrats: They never met a tax they didn’t hike.

The Ho Hum Democratic Debate
Apr 17, 2008 Political
Though ABC’s moderators did everything they could to incite a war between the remaining Democratic contenders, last night’s debate was about as boring as they get. The Washington Post saw it as ABC dredging up old stories to try to spark a fight and the WaPo believes that ABC favored Clinton and showed Obama in a negative light.
I think that each candidate was taken to task and I think that both of them did a good job of accusing the other of unnecessary attacks while actually attacking in that fashion. Obama was upset that the Clinton campaign ran with his smear of small town USA and made sure we knew that Hillary was seen as elitist with her cookie remarks a long time ago. Hillary attacked Barry with regard to his past associates and he countered by letting us know that she had a controversial pastor as well as the fact that her husband had pardoned two people from the Weather Underground, a radical member of which Obama is associated with.
As far as it goes, the debate was boring. These two tried to show how the other was evil and then of course the replies showed that they are both just as evil. He hangs with terrorists who hate America and her husband pardoned them. She tries to exploit his elitist remarks by saying her family had factory workers in it and he counters by talking about his broken household and growing up a poor single parent child, blah, blah.
I thought Barry did a good job of countering what she said but his counters were not denials of his failings and were more of a “She did it too.” All he did was point out that she had done the same things in her past. He never denied being wrong or associating with the wrong people, he just said that she did it too. He lamented about things that are decades old being brought up and then he brought up her suspicious activities from, you guessed it, nearly two decades ago.
These two are absolute failures and neither could lead a group of people out of a burning building. He continues to deny the obvious and to make excuses about his associations and she continues to accuse him of the very things that she has done for years. There was a lot of finger pointing, a lot of venom, a lot of nice talk with nastiness wrapped inside and there was no substance.
Hillary talked about being ready to lead, about having her past already dug into and about how George Bush ruined the economy her hubby made great (another liberal myth). Obama talked about how people want change, how he sometimes chooses improper words and about how people should focus on issues and not nuances (unless his people are focusing on Hillary’s nuances). I also think it was pretty clear that they will not run on the same ticket though that remains to be seen. Democrats will do anything for power so they might kiss and make up when all is said and done.
The big winner last night was John McCain. He received ammunition from each candidate (though you can bet the Republicans are working overtime getting their own) and he probably benefited from the fact that these two looked like school children rather than leaders. McCain looks like the adult in this group and people will see that. I also believe that Obama got flustered a few times and gave circular answers that made no sense. McCain has to believe that he can wax Obama’s rear in a debate. At least last night showed that Obama is not unflappable.
I am sure that neither of these two should be president and last night reaffirmed that belief. I am also sure that the only thing either knows is that raising taxes is the answer to all problems. They both lied about our tax structure, they made false claims about the wealthy (which both of them are) and they both showed that if either of them is elected America will be in for some real bad times.
But it was fun to watch. I rarely get to see two clueless people have a fight. Watching them made me think of what it might look like if they rearranged the furniture at the school for the blind…

Republicans are Unable to Let Democrats Suffer Alone
Mar 14, 2008 Political
It isn’t bad enough that the MSM deliberately avoids mentioning the party of Democrats involved in scandal but now Republicans have taken some for the media away from the Spitzer issue by having one of their own. At a time when Republicans are trying to convince America that they are careful with money, a scandal comes forth involving a Republican who embezzled money from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). Christopher Ward served as treasurer at the NRCC and there are indications that he has funneled as much as one million dollars away from the NRCC and into his own endeavors.

Detroit Mayor is typical Liberal; Play the Victim
Mar 12, 2008 Political
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been embroiled in a bit of controversy since it was discovered that he had a sexual affair with a co-worker and sent her sexy text messages. Evidently, there has been a lot of talk about this on the radio stations because the mayor is in trouble and could be indicted for perjury because he lied under oath about the affair. This has been going on for some time and Kilpatrick has refused to step down. He continues to run the city into the ground (if it is possible to get it any further into the ground) with his extravagances and his trysts.
During his state of the city address he went off script at the end and he played the victim. Here is the end of his address:
And finally tonight, and this may be the most talked about part of the speech after laying out all of that. But I feel that I cannot leave this auditorium with my wife and my sons sitting there without addressing this issue.
In the past 30 days, I’ve been called a nigger more than any time in my entire life. In the past three days I have received more death threats than I have in my entire administration. I’ve heard these words before, but I’ve never heard people say them about my wife and children.
I don’t believe that a Nielsen rating is worth the life of my children or your children.
This unethical, illegal lynch-mob mentality has to stop.
And it’s seriously time. We’ve never been here before. And I don’t care if they cut the TV off. We’ve never been in a situation like this before where you can say anything, do anything, have no facts, no research, no nothin [sic] and you can launch a hate-driven, bigoted assault on a family.
I humbly ask members of council. I humbly ask the business community. I humbly ask the religious community. I humbly ask the brothers and sisters of the city of Detroit. I humbly ask that we say no more together. I humbly ask that we say no more together.
I love this city with every part of my being and I will continue to stay focused on building the next Detroit.
God bless you.
Detroit, I love you.
Kilpatrick is saying that he has been called a nigger and that things have been said and his family threatened all for ratings. I cannot imagine anyone broad casted the word nigger or made threats on the air. If these threats were made in public or to him personally, while wrong, they are not intended to increase ratings. I doubt he has been the victim here, at least not as much as he is saying. He is trying to rally the brothers and sisters (his words) to get behind him and help. He wants them to believe he is being persecuted because he is black. He threw in the part about having no evidence to make it more convincing.
The fact is, there is plenty of evidence. A few months back the text messages between him and his sex toy were made public and printed on one of the news sites. He is alleged to have been involved in spending city money unwisely and causing it further economic trouble. He lied under oath about his relationship with the other woman (if he did not have the affair then he could not have committed perjury). He is guilty of doing exactly what people are saying he did and he deserves to be held up to their scrutiny regardless of what color he is. Governor Spitzer is certainly being held up to the light for inspection after the recent bombshell dropped by him. He is not claiming that he is a victim because he is white or Jewish or any other thing he might be. And people are calling for his resignation (well republicans are).
Kilpatrick is guilty of having an affair and if people want him out of office it is their right to remove him. They put him there and he works for them. He violated their trust and they do not want him around. that does not make people racists and it does not make him a victim.
He is a jackass who got caught doing something wrong and he needs to be a man and stop playing the victim card.
I wonder what his momma, Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Michigan’s 13th District, thinks of her son?
