ACORN Story A Tough Nut To Crack
Sep 15, 2009 Political
ACORN is the organization that worked to get Barack Obama elected. The organization is billed as one that helps the under served and they worked hard to register people to vote. Many of the registrations were phony and there were plenty of accusations of fraud. Many offices are under investigation.
Obama taught the people at ACORN when he was a community rabble-rouser.
Recently, two people went into a Baltimore ACORN office and pretended to be a pimp and a prostitute. The stellar employees are on video telling the two how to avoid taxes, how to get a home in which to run a brothel (with under aged girls) and how to hide the prostitutes job. OK a couple of bad people in an office does not make a tainted organization. The two were fired, end of story.
Then a video was released with the same two in a Washington DC ACORN office and they were given the same advice. They were told how to break the law. OK, two instances does not a tainted organization make. Two people were fired.
Now a video with the same scenario and same advice has been released from an encounter in an ACORN office in New York. Two people were fired and ACORN claims the videos were doctored.
We are at three instances of the same advice being given to two people and that advice is how to break the law. This is more than a coincidence. It shows a systemic problem in that organization. It shows just how deeply the corruption runs and yet, the MSM has not reported on it. It has been largely ignored by the MSM. Fox News is practically the only organization giving any time to the story.
Last night Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift as she was giving an acceptance speech for an award that West felt should have gone to someone else.
This has played non stop on the news and West took time in his scheduled appearance on the new Jay Leno show to apologize for his outburst. He has apologized several times since the incident but felt it necessary to do so again. That is all well and good but how much coverage does this warrant? This has gotten a lot more play from the MSM than the corruption that has been exposed in ACORN.
The liberals said there was nothing to the allegations against ACORN when they surfaced last year. Now that the corruption cannot be so easily dismissed the left has found a way to deal with it.
They just ignore it.
Even Obama had more to say about Kanye than he did about ACORN.

Murtha’s Nephew Gets Awarded No-Bid Contract
May 5, 2009 Political
I have read time and again the liberal meme about no-bid contracts and how the evil Republicans handed them out as favors to their buddies. The name Halliburton is screamed every time the liberals want to make a point about no-bid contracts. Halliburton, the libs believe, get no-bid contracts because Dick Cheney was once employed there and somehow he profits from those contracts.
They usually ignore the fact that Halliburton is the only company that is capable of doing what they are contracted to do. Sure, they have been involved in overcharging but those things get investigated.
I want to know if my liberal friends (you know who you are) will jump in here and scream about the no-bid contract that a company named Murtech received. I want to know if they will stop by here and discuss how this company, that is headed by Jack Murtha’s nephew, received a no-bid contract. It is obvious that Murtha ensured that this was awarded to family. Given Murtha’s history of corruption there can be no doubt. The fact that there is no evidence that the business even does anything makes it all the more suspicious.
The headquarters of Murtech, in a low-slung, bland building in a Glen Burnie business park, has its blinds drawn tight and few signs of life. On several days of visits, a handful of cars sit in the parking lot, and no trucks arrive at the 10 loading bays at the back of the building.
Yet last year, Murtech received $4 million in Pentagon work, all of it without competition, for a variety of warehousing and engineering services. With its long corridor of sparsely occupied offices and an unmanned reception area, Murtech’s most striking feature is its owner — Robert C. Murtha Jr., 49. He is the nephew of Rep. John P. Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who has significant sway over the Defense Department’s spending as chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee. [emphasis mine] Washington Post
Well, well. It seems that some of them there Democrats are involved in the no-bid contract game and it is obvious that this is a payment to a family member. When people mention Cheney and Halliburton they cannot be persuaded that Cheney does not profit and he does not have any influence in the contracting process (Bill Clinton’s administration awarded a no bid to Halliburton). So let’s hear what they have to say about this obvious crime.
Where are you liberals? Where is your voice proclaiming the culture of corruption.
Who will be the first liberal to defend Murtha.
Come on, I am waiting.

More Evidence Of The Stimulus Payoff
Feb 7, 2009 Political
The Associated Builders and Contractors today denounced the repeal of Executive Order 13202. Barack Obama repealed the EO which “prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of performing work on federal and federally funded construction projects.”
Obama repealed the EO so now agencies can make union only agreements when bidding out the projects funded with taxpayer money. This is a payoff for union support.
There is no other reason to repeal EO13202 since companies that use union employees were free to bid on contracts. The EO prevented agencies from requiring companies to use union employees but never prevented them from competing with companies that did not.
Typically, non union labor is not as costly and bids are more reasonable. The repeal of the EO will, according to ABC, discriminate against 84% of the construction workforce:
“Construction contracts subject to union-only PLAs are designed to be awarded exclusively to unionized contractors and their all-union workforces,” said Pickerel. “Absent the economic benefits of competitive bidding, union-only PLAs are known to increase construction costs between 10 percent and 20 percent and discriminate against minorities, women and qualified construction workers who have traditionally been excluded from union membership.
“Union-only PLAs drive up costs for American taxpayers while unfairly discriminating against 84 percent of U.S. construction workers who choose not to join a labor union,” added Pickerel. “All taxpayers should have the opportunity to compete fairly on any project funded by the federal government.” ABC Press Release
The so called stimulus plan is nothing more than a spending bill that is designed to put in place a bunch of items Democrats have tried to get for a long time. Despite their assurances that no “pork” would be in the bill, the thing is comprised almost entirely of pork projects that do little, if anything, to stimulate the economy.
The bill is a payoff and the repeal of EO 13202 is another step in the process of rewarding those who supported the sainted one.
Look for more of this as Democrats work to pay off debts and to build stronger support for the next election.
Change we can believe in?
As far as I am concerned, they can keep the change.

Add Blago To The Unemployment Numers
Jan 29, 2009 Political
The Illinois Senate booted Rod Blagojevich from office today after his impeachment hearing ended with the now former governor giving an impassioned speech about being innocent. The legislature had to boot him. He gave the appearance of impropriety and, more importantly, he focused a spotlight on the corrupt political machine there.
The Senate was well within its right to boot him. His claim of a presumption of innocence is only applicable in court. The public can call him guilty all it wants and the Senate does not have to assume he is innocent. They only have to decide if he did things that warrant removal from office.
Interestingly, this moronic statement was made by impeachment prosecutor David Ellis:
“”He doesn’t think one minute about the people, just himself,” he said, asserting that the impeachment was for the people, not to punish Blagojevich as he had suggested.
“He has a Constitutional right not to thrown in jail without a fair trial,” he said. “But he does not have a Constitutional right to be governor. That is not a right; it’s a privilege and he forfeited that right. He has abused the power of his office.” Fox News [emphasis mine]
I agree that being governor is a privilege and not a right. But this guy makes that claim and then says Blago lost that right.
How did he lose a right he did not have?
This was a foregone conclusion and Blago’s things were already packed up and ready to be shipped out.
Is this a new precedent? If Illinois boots all politicians who give the appearance of impropriety they will have no one left in office.

Change I Don’t Believe
Jan 15, 2009 Political
Barack Obama ran his entire campaign on the theme of hope and change. He told us it was change we could believe in. He is not in office yet and already I see change but it is not change I can believe in, it is change I just can’t believe. However, he did tell people he was going to change things but he failed to mention if that change would be good or bad. Here is some change that I don’t think will be good:
- A nominee for Secretary of State that is extremely conflicted. Her husband is a former president and he receives money from around the world. How effective will she be working to do her job and keeping her husband’s money train running?
- A nominee for Director of the CIA who has absolutely no background in the intelligence field. In these perilous times, is that the kind of change we need?
- The governor of his home state tried to sell his vacated Senate seat. The Senate now has a person that the Democrats and Obama did not want.
- Hillary’s soon to be vacated seat is being pursued by Caroline Kennedy, who Obama supports. She has never held a job much less public office. Her claim to fame is her name, her money, and the fact that her father was a president who was assassinated.
- His choice for Homeland Security has not even been able to get an emergency plan for her state squared away. How will she take care of an entire country?
- His choice for Commerce Secretary had to withdraw to fight corruption charges.
- His choice for Treasury Secretary did not pay his taxes even though he received money to do so and signed papers saying he would. This was explained as an oversight and blamed on a lack of knowledge. Is this the kind of person we want watching over our treasury?
- He is proposing the largest spending package in our history claiming it will help fix the economy. If spending was the cure for the economy it would not be in bad shape because George Bush did nothing but spend for the last eight years.
- He has broken promise after promise. He is realizing that it is easy to say it on the campaign trail but actually doing it, once in office, is very difficult.
While Obama has been lauded for some of his other picks it is safe to say that he has filled his administration with Clinton retreads and he has put people of questionable integrity or who are completely unqualified in important positions. I imagine the MSM and Obama toadies will not criticize him the way they did President Bush when he put unqualified people in charge. Good job Brownie. Where are the trolls who infest this place criticizing Bush for things like this? Probably in the Kool Aid line.
I should not be surprised that Obama has selected unqualified people for positions. He is not qualified for the position he will soon hold. He has never been in charge of anything and his claim to fame is being a rabble rouser. He spent little time at the national level before he launched into his run for the presidency. The only good thing is that once he is done as president there will be nowhere else for him in government. He can fly around with Bill Clinton with his hand out.
This line up is a disaster waiting to happen and the ones who will suffer are the American people.
When the next 9/11 happens these people will make the Keystone Cops look like the Special Forces.
