For Crisis Sakes!
Feb 20, 2009 Political
The dialogue a leader has with his people sets the tone and mood of those who are led. When Chuck Schumer mentioned a bank that was failing there was a run on that bank (though one would be hard pressed to actually call Schumer a leader). Barack Obama has given us a dire assessment of the economic situation and each time he speaks of the “catastrophes” the market and the people respond in kind. His latest comes from the speech on 18 February when he was discussing the housing problem and the associated mortgage defaults.
Obama uses the word “crisis” 25 times in the speech. I understand that the situation is gloomy and I don’t want unrealistic, euphoric assessments but a bit of upbeat news might instill confidence in the public.
Of course, when one is trying to have the government take over every aspect of daily life there is no better way than to give the bleakest of pictures and claim that “only” government can fix the problem.
As Reagan once said, government is the problem…
The video reminds me of a South Park episode where the characters said the word sh*t and a counter rang up the total.
With Obama describing the situation it would be more appropriate to add the word BULL to the first part of that expletive South Park shamelessly used (around 200 times).
At least we now know his “leadership” style.
Crisis management…
