Obama’s Economic Team
Nov 25, 2008 Political
Barack Obama has been filling positions for his new Hopey-Change administration but The One, who promised no more old politics, has assembled a team of people who are retreads from the mediocre Clinton years.
Today The Sainted One named his economic team, the ones who will get us out of the financial mess we are in. Keeping in tune with his Clinton Redux Theme, many of the people Obama named served, at one time or another, under Clinton. I am still waiting for the change. Seems to me that if The One fills his administration with retreads then he has not changed very much.
I think the Obama time in office will be a disaster. He will not be able to solve the financial problems and he has pledged to spend trillions of dollars which will do exactly what he criticized Bush for, increase the deficit. But if we are lucky we can all sit in a corner and chant HOPE, HOPE, HOPE, and see where that gets us.
There will be record inflation, high prices, and instability in the markets for some time to come and it will be on Obama’s head. He will have a misery index that makes the Carter years look like good times.
Yes, Obama’s tenure will be a cross between Clinton Redux and Welcome Back Carter…
Ace has the appropriate picture for The One.
Barney Frank Says Economy Fundamentally Sound
Sep 19, 2008 Political
OK, he did not use those exact words but he did basically say that even with this turmoil the place to invest is the United States.
There are good sovereign wealth funds and bad sovereign wealth funds because there are bad and good countries. They’re buying because of the security in the United States. Even with volatility this is still a place people want to put their money. This is a very stable democracy with a fundamental economy which has been damaged now but which we expect to come back. Rush Limbaugh
First thing to know is that I do not cite Frank as an expert or because I agree with him (though I think this turmoil presents great buying opportunities). He is certainly no genius when it comes to this crisis. This was the guy who, in 2003, said that there were no problems with Fannie and Freddie. He said this as President Bush was trying to impose tighter control over these entities. We see where Frank’s expert opinion got us.
No, I cite this because Barack Obama has been all over John McCain for saying that our economy is fundamentally sound and Frank is alluding to the very same thing. Notice that Obama is not jumping all over Frank (ahem).
The Democrats own this mess. They are the ones responsible and they ignored George Bush and later John McCain when they raised concerns. We need to keep force feeding this to the public because they all believe that this is the fault of George Bush. It is obvious that Democrats did not want the tighter controls because they benefited from cozy relationships with the heads of these entities.

The Fundamentals Of Our Economy Are Strong
Sep 16, 2008 Political
This is a truth that seems to have escaped those on the left who clamor about all the bad things going on. The important thing to note is that the Fundamentals are strong. Are we hitting some rough spots, yes. Are some major businesses going under, yes and they should. They made risky investments and they paid the price for the gamble. If they had made billions of dollars they would be patting themselves on the back (and democrats would be talking about corporate greed).
There is this ongoing battle about which campaign is playing loose with the truth with Obama supporters saying that John McCain has been lying and they point to a statement made by Karl Rove, of all people. The left has always said he is a man that cannot be trusted but let him say that McCain took it one step too far and it is splashed all over the liberal blogs. The inconvenient truth is that while they were splashing that newest revelation they were engaging in the half truths they admonished McCain for. You see, Rove said that Both campaigns were playing loose with the truth.
This has been happening to McCain for quite some time and it is the media that plays with the truth. Take a look at yesterday’s news. John McCain said “The fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are still very, very difficult times.” The only part that got reported and that the Obama campaign jumped on was everything prior to the word “but” which means they engaged in the very same thing they have been accusing McCain of and their surrogates in the media helped them right along. Obama obliged by stating; “Sen. McCain, what economy are you talking about?”
I know our economy is fundamentally strong but I also realize there are bumps in the road. But maybe we should look to Obama as a bellwether. Obama took in $66 million in August which breaks his own single month fund raising record. Yesterday, after bashing McCain for his remarks on the fundamentals of our economy and asking what economy McCain was talking about, Obama went to a fund raiser where it cost each person $28,500 to attend. Obama is expected to raise $9 million dollars from the event. This means that about 300 people attended (assuming some of the money went to overhead).
If Obama can raise $66 million dollars in August and have around 300 people pay $28,500 each to attend a function then that is a pretty good indication that the economy is fundamentally strong. Of course this does not take into account the amount of money Obama has been taking from illegal donors in Hamas and from other overseas locations but a reasonably large amount of the money is coming from donors here at home.
How can a candidate and his running mate talk about how absolutely abysmal the economy is during the day and then attend functions where people pay more than a lot of folks make in a year to attend by night? If there is a candidate who is out of touch it is Barack Obama.
At least this should put to bed these victim filled stories about McCain’s half truths. Obama and his media cronies have distorted what Rove said and what McCain said for political gain. Have they no shame?
I read a piece by someone and I can’t remember where but he indicated that if we are now only going to use parts of sentences to portray what a candidate said is it OK to say that Obama said “John McCain did not talk about my Muslim faith?”
Who else thinks the economy is fundamentally strong?

Obama Apple Stays Near The Tree
Sep 8, 2008 Political
If Barack Obama is elected president he, with the assistance of a Democratic Congress, will impose huge tax increases upon us. His defenders claim he will roll taxes to what they were under Bill Clinton. Those were bad enough but with all the spending he has proposed, he will have to increase taxes much more in order to push through his agenda. However, Obama hedged on taxes a bit:
Democrat Barack Obama says he would delay rescinding President Bush’s tax cuts on wealthy Americans if he becomes the next president and the economy is in a recession, suggesting such an increase would further hurt the economy.
Nevertheless, Obama has no plans to extend the Bush tax cuts beyond their expiration date, as Republican John McCain advocates. Instead, Obama wants to push for his promised tax cuts for the middle class, he said in a broadcast interview aired Sunday.
“Even if we’re still in a recession, I’m going to go through with my tax cuts,” Obama said. “That’s my priority.”
What about increasing taxes on the wealthy?
“I think we’ve got to take a look and see where the economy is. I mean, the economy is weak right now,” Obama said on “This Week” on ABC. “The news with Freddie Mac (FRE) and Fannie Mae (FNM), I think, along with the unemployment numbers, indicates that we’re fragile.” My Way News
Obama will delay rescinding the Bush tax cuts because the economy is in a recession (it is not). Therefore, he is admitting that taxes hurt the economy. If taxes helped then it would not matter when he rescinded them. The reality is, even under the best of times, taxes hurt the economy and when it is not in great shape the pain is even worse.
He also admits that he would have to take a look at his tax increases on the wealthy because of the fragile economy. In other words, we have more people out of jobs and high prices so if he raises taxes those who create jobs will stop creating as many and more people will be unemployed. The increased taxes will cause prices to go higher (tax increases are passed on to consumers) and people will pay even more.
The way to solve the problems is to cut federal spending. Eliminate unnecessary and duplicate programs and cut budgets. This will decrease the need for our money and we can keep the taxes low or lower them even more. People who earn the money should keep it and decide how it is spent.
Taking money from those who have more of it and redistributing it to those who have less of it is Socialism. That is what Barry Obama is all about because it is in his blood:
“What is more important is to find means by which we can redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all. This is the government’s obligation.”
~snip~
“Certainly there is no limit to taxation if the benefits derived from public services by society measure up to the cost in taxation which they have to pay. It is a fallacy to say that there is this limit, and it is a fallacy to rely mainly on individual free enterprise to get the savings.” Barack Hussein Obama, Sr.
The apple certainly does not fall far from the tree. Daddy Hussein was a Harvard educated economist. Amazing what a goat herder can do when he puts his mind to it.
The link to the story about his father is very enlightening. Particularly interesting is this gem:
Obama Sr. described his own economic plan, his counterproposal, as it were, as “scientific socialism — inter alia — communism.” Yes, Obama’s father was a communist who wanted to put socialist theory into action — by “force.” [emphasis mine]

Obama Throws Race into the Race
Jun 21, 2008 Political
Barack Hussein Obama has thrown race into the general election by claiming that Republicans will work to cause fear about his funny middle name, his inexperience and, oh he is black. This is a slick tactic because Obama has lumped his extreme lack of experience with two issues that most people, including Republicans, find inconsequential. No one cares about his color and his middle name is just something to have fun with, so by putting experience with them he is telling people that it does not matter either.
“It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy,” Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. “We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid.
“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?” al-Reuters
Barry O Bam Bam is the one who has thrown race into the issue. By mentioning it he has given himself and his supporters license to question ANYTHING as racist if it is unfavorable to their Messiah. He raised the race issue for this very reason. He wants to be able to incite people and infuriate them because of race. Keep in mind that the Republican Party has engaged him very little so far. He has been in an extended primary and all the racist attacks came from Democrats. The truth is, many of them were from Obama supporters and people he considered his friends and mentors. His pastor has used more racial BS during this season than most others will and certainly more than any Republican.
Obama eased into this tact by claiming Republicans would not be able to to defend their stewardship of the economy or outstanding foreign policy. The economy is not that bad. It is certainly not as bad as everyone on the left makes it out to be. The major issue that people see and relate to the economy is the cost of gasoline. The Democrats are the reason we are paying so much for gas. They refuse to lift the moratorium on drilling and they (including the RINO John McCain) refuse to allow drilling in one of the most barren places on the planet. It is the Democrats who are the economic disasters in this country. If Bill Clinton had signed the ANWR drilling into law we would have been getting oil from there right now. The economy cannot be very bad because Obambi does not take money from PACs, special interests and lobbyists (that is what he says) so how is it he has raised $250,000? How could all those poor Democrats afford so much money in such a bad economy?
As for foreign policy, the first and most important thing a President can do is ensure that we are safe. We have not been attacked since 9/11 and if the methods we used to ensure this rankle other countries then too bad. The foreign policy of appeasement and cowardice is what caused 9/11 and it was a Democrat who gave that to us. Obama will follow the same path. Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton are names associated with incidents that tested this country and showed us as weak. Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Iran Hostage Crisis, and Somalia were brought to you by Democrats. What disaster will Obama’s policy of appeasement bring to our country. Will another Republican have to follow a Democrat and clean up the mess?
I will not vote for Obama and it has nothing to do with his color. I do not agree with his policies and I do not believe in his politics so that is why I will not be voting for him. Skin color is not something I would use to decide on who I will vote for though there are many blacks (some of them Republicans) who might vote for Obambi just because he is black. I hold my principles in a higher regard than to vote for someone who I think will be bad for my country. I took and oath to protect and defend this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic. My allegiance is to the country and the Constitution and my votes always reflect who I think will be the best steward of those two things.
If that makes me a racist then so be it.
UPDATE: From American Thinker [Clarice Feldman]: LTC Allen West released this in reference to Obama’s statement.
My advice to Senator Obama is to run as a Man and Leader, and the American people will evaluate you as such, not as a victim. This is a Presidential race, based solely on a capacity to lead the United States of America. It is not about skin tone…however, perhaps we should come to expect these immature statements.
It also seems rather humorous that the Presidential candidate who was supposed to be such a “uniter” and transcend race is the one talking about it the most. If Senator Obama was confident in his abilities and character, he would not need to create a crutch for failure. Senator Obama has just tipped his hand, any criticism of him and his policies will be directly attributed to racism. I congratulate Senator Obama for taking race relations in America back some 30 years.
LTC West is running for a Congressional seat in Florida’s 22nd District.
