Stephen King Pulls a John Kerry
May 6, 2008 Political
During the last election cycle John Kerry told students that it was important to get an education or you would end up in Iraq. This was obviously an insult to the troops but Kerry dismissed it as a botched joke. Perhaps he meant to tell a joke but the Freudian slip told his inner feelings. Given his total disregard for the Vietnam vets with whom he served, it is not hard to see why people believe he meant what he said.
Stephen King, the liberal author, has insulted our troops in a manner that is Kerryesque. King told people that it was important to learn to read and that if you could not read then your options were the “Army and Iraq, something like that. It’s not as bright.”
What this maggot said is that the Army is full of people who cannot read. The members of our military (he said Army but he meant all services) are not bright enough to read so they end up in in the military and places like Iraq.
I know a whole lot of people in the military and everyone I know can read. Most of the people I know can read and comprehend as well or better than Mr. king. Some of the people I know in the military have published technical work that required a bit more than for King to write fictional novels. Quite a few of the people I know in the military have written articles for magazines, newspapers and many have blogs. All of these require the ability to read and write. And while King thinks that people do not have to be as bright to get in the military, I would like to see him fly a plane or a helicopter. I would like to see Stephen King operate an M1 tank or a Patriot Missile battery. I would also like to see him perform the miracles our medical folks do.
Stephen King is a half witted liberal who has lived in a protected world where he can run around and discredit those with whom he disagrees. He is an ungrateful twit who has the freedom to say what he wants because of the men and women of the armed forces who protect our country and our way of life. Stephen King is not fit to carry the boots of any member of the military and all of them will always be a cut above him and his kind.
Mr. King, the members of our military are quite capable of reading and I am sure that many of them helped make you rich by buying and reading your books. However, if you believe that they are unable to read perhaps they should stop buying your literature and maybe they should stop selling it in the exchanges.
Interestingly Mr. King, you chose to insult our troops when none of them were around. Maybe we can get a few of them to go to your next book signing and see if you would be as forthright. Considering where you have your head, at least you will be able to read your own book when they get done with you.

Absolut Apology to Protect bottom Line
Apr 7, 2008 Political
I wrote earlier about an ad campaign by Absolut vodka that was developed to target the Mexican market. In the ad Absolut displays a map from the 1830s in which California, Texas and much of the south west was Mexican territory. The wording over it reads “In an Absolut World.” There have been calls for a boycott of that product and I indicated that the company had more to lose in the US than it did to gain in Mexico. It would appear as if they now realize that they offended Americans because the company has issued an apology.
“In no way was it meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues,” Absolut said in a statement left on its consumer inquiry phone line. LA Times
It does not matter what they meant or what they say they meant, the reality is that Americans saw this as offensive an counterproductive. The company can say it did not mean to do a lot of things but they put up the map and said this is how it would be in an Absolut world thus indicating that in their world this is the way it should be.
By displaying the map and indicating that in an Absolut world the Mexicans would still own that property they have given legitimacy to Mexican groups who believe that America stole territory from Mexico. The fact that Absolut indicated in the original story that most Americans are unaware of the history shows the company’s contempt for the US and it shows they underestimated American response and understanding of the issue.
The history of the issue is quite clear. America did not steal any land from the Mexicans. The land was gained in war (as a condition to the end of hostilities) and it was gained when America PAID for it. Mexico had a ton of debt and the country could not afford to pay it. Very few Mexicans lived in California so the Mexicans sold it to get rid of their debt. Texas had fought for its independence long before it became a state and it was acquired legally. Absolut does not help the hard feelings that exist by indicating the territories should belong to Mexico.
In an Absolut world the vodka company would go broke because it lost its American customers. Its apology shows that it realizes it made a mistake and that it is worried.
Let us put the heat on them and ensure they pay for their insult to this country. Let us show them that Mexico cannot possible provide them more business than America.
Boycott Absolut.
MLK Holiday is an Insult

That little gem according to Dallas minister Peter Johnson. Johnson believes that celebrating King’s birth rather than the date of his death by assassination is an insult to him [King} and all he stood for. Johnson also believes that celebrating the birth of King rather than his death allows whites to escape the guilt of King’s death:
“We have ignored the essence of his life and the horror of his death,” said Johnson. “We’ve allowed white America to escape the guilt of his assassination and we’ve allowed black America to drift back into a coma.” United Press International
The first thing to recognize is that we celebrate the lives of people. We celebrate the life of Lincoln not the date of his assassination and we celebrate the birth and resurrection (rebirth) of Jesus. This minister is focusing on the death of King in order to do what? Does he want to stir more hatred? His assertion that this allows white America to escape guilt. What part of white America is guilty? The only person guilty in the death of King died in jail.
There was no huge conspiracy among all the whites to kill King. One deranged guy with a gun shot King and that man was tried and served life in prison. There might have been a few others associated with the assassination plot but they hardly represent white America. John Kennedy was killed by a white guy and we do not have a federal holiday commemorating his death in order to flourish in white guilt. As a matter of fact, we do not have a holiday celebrating Kennedy’s birth.
Many white Americans who are alive today were not around when King was assassinated and 100 years after King’s death there will few, if any, people around who were here then so why would we have a holiday to perpetuate white guilt? Why would we have a holiday to perpetuate white guilt when few whites were involved?
We celebrate the life of Dr. King by commemorating his birth, the beginning of a great journey. Today in America we have large numbers of blacks and other minorities in positions of great responsibility and we have a black man running for the highest office in this nation with a good chance to win.
Certainly that is the part of the King legacy that matters rather than some perceived notion of white guilt.
