It Was 20 Years Ago Today
Jan 17, 2018 Political
Twenty years ago today Matt Drudge released a blockbuster story about a White House intern and her sexual affair with then President Bill Clinton. The story was investigated and filed by Michael Isikoff at Newsweek but that publication quashed the story allegedly because it could not confirm some of what Monica Lewinsky was heard saying on recordings of phone conversations and because some of her words led them to question her credibility.
Drudge had no such worries when he released the story to his then 85,000 subscribers. In no time flat that story was the talk of the town and Drudge’s page received so many visitors that it could not be accessed by some who wanted to read the story. It is quite possible that story jump started what is now the most formidable news aggregating website.
Newsweek decided not to run with the story and the rest of the MSM ignored it until it got too big to dismiss. All must have decided that the then 23 year old intern was not as credible and a man known to be a serial philanderer. His initial run for the presidency was clouded with sexual exploits (sexploits?) including a long term affair with Gennifer Flowers. Clinton denied the affair and his wife set up a war room to handle so called bimbo eruptions. As the world would later find out, not only was Lewinsky telling the truth but so was Flowers.
Clinton lied about everything until he was cornered with a DNA stained dress. He was impeached for committing perjury but found not guilty by a Congress we now know has a slush fund of taxpayer dollars to quash sexual allegations levied against its members.
Clinton was never held accountable for the sexual misconduct and the rapes reported by other credible victims. To this day he is a free man and cherished by many liberal women who quickly react when others are accused of the same things.
It looks like Lewinsky, Flowers and others were all #metoo before it was the in thing.
Twenty years! Can you believe that? They grow up so fast. It seems like it was just yesterday Monica was crawling around the Oval Office putting things in her mouth.
The government has needed an enema for a long time.

Not Me Too
Oct 17, 2017 Commentary
There is a campaign now (a hashtag campaign since they work so well) to have women who have suffered sexual harassment or abuse to use the hashtag #metoo to indicate they were victims. The issue with this campaign is that it includes people who were the targets of something said (disgusting but not as horrible as what physical abuse entails) and the tag gives this impression that everyone around has been physically abused. It would be helpful if there was a response that said #notme.
I am in no way minimizing the abuse that monsters like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and Bill Clinton have done (done rather than said you could do like the current occupant of the White House) because these abuses, whether they be on women, men or children (and that is the next big thing that will break out of Hollywood) are horrible and should not be tolerated.
Actress Alyssa Milano started this campaign to have women speak up if they have been victims and that is an issue because it relegates these folks to victim status. It is horrible that it happened but being a victim is not empowering. Having women disclose to everyone under the sun that they were victims also takes away a privacy they can never get back.
I think it is just as or maybe more important to be a survivor rather than a victim. Hashtags, if that is the way to go, should include things like #neveragain, or #notme, or #ifoughtback, or any number of other slogans that indicate that the subject is not a victim.
Speaking of being victims and empowerment how about these vocal advocates push for less stringent concealed carry laws? Imagine the outcome had one of Weinstein’s RAPE victims had a firearm. There might not have been so many victims. I will also point out that many victims remained silent about the abuse and emboldened Weinstein to continue his predatory ways. That is not to lay blame upon them but to point out that saying it happened WHEN IT DID is vital to ensure there are no other victims.
It is not enough to say you were a victim (and maybe counterproductive). You MUST indicate that you are a survivor and that you will never be a victim or never be one again. Powerful people knew of the abuse, engaged in the abuse and facilitated the abuse. Some of the abused went along in order to further careers and others stood up to the monster but remained silent.
It is not lost on me that the people who hashtag metoo are the ones who ignored the women who claimed Bill Clinton raped or otherwise sexually harassed them. I also think it is likely that if Hillary Clinton (who likens Harvey to Trump rather than her own husband) had won the presidency we would not be hearing about Harvey Weinstein, #fogeddaboudit.
The victims, of course, are not to blame for the behavior of people like those mentioned in this piece. But it is difficult to scream about the sexualization of women while dressing in clothing that, well, sexualizes you. Dressing that way is NOT an invitation to being abused or raped but it does take away any claim that Hollywood sexualizes you or that you don’t want to be thought of that way. Talking about your sex life, what you like or don’t sexually, who you have or would sleep with and your fantasies coupled with clothing that exposes more than it covers sexualizes you. That does not mean you should be attacked in any way shape or form but it removes the argument that someone else sexualized you or is at fault for people thinking that way. Your sexuality empowers you and is an important part of the human experience but it is not a reason to be attacked and certainly not an excuse to be a victim.
If you want to be empowered then get away from the victim mentality and fight back. But fight back when it happens, not when it is convenient or trending and make sure you hold all abusers to the same standard.
If the reaction to Harvey Weinstein, Bill Clinton and Bill Cosby (at the time of their actions) had been as intense as the reaction to what Trump said in a recording (not what he did but what he said you COULD do) then it is likely these men would not have abused for so many years. The same outrage Hillary [and the I’m with her liberal crowd] had for Trump when the tape was released should have been the outrage she had when her husband was diddling an intern nearly the same age as his daughter. Her response to the allegations of rape by her husband should have been as strong (or stronger) than her response to Trump. She and the movement lose credibility when the response is selective outrage.
So hang tough and be empowered. Do not be victims. Yes, you can tell us #metoo but let us know #iamstronger and #neveragain. Let us know so it is not just a #politicalstunt.
And if you have not been a victim let us know #notme. Your strength might help others.

Trump Made NFL Protests About Him
Oct 2, 2017 General
Colin Kaepernick started protesting last year by taking a knee during the national Anthem. Ratings for the NFL started to slip as a few other players, all protesting the alleged racist Flag and country as well as the shootings of black men who get in trouble with the law (most shootings are justified) got in on the action.
This year more players knelt down to dishonor the nation that has given them so much. Face it, most of them are not the brightest bulbs in the box but they can play a child’s game well so they get paid handsomely. President Trump took exception to their kneeling or otherwise protesting the Anthem and voiced his displeasure in a speech by saying that any SOB who sits or kneels or otherwise protests during the Anthem should be fired.
In that instant Donald Trump took away the narrative that the protests were about inequality in this nation or about how poorly some perceive black men to be treated. In that moment Donald Trump put the spotlight on himself and in so doing exposed the reality of these protests. They suddenly were not about the racist country or the Flag that has flown for so long over the oppressive nation. No, it was about Trump and the distaste these snowflake athletes have for the man.
Trump took the focus off the Flag and off the narrative and put it on himself. Now he, instead of our Flag, was the one being attacked and the narrative about how racist everything America is vanished in a puff of bravado.
Interestingly there are people on the left, those who are supposed to be educated, who claim Trump is trampling on the free speech rights of the football players.
Those football players do not have free speech rights when they are at work anymore than the rest of us do. The First Amendment ONLY protects your rights from GOVERNMENT intrusion. Government cannot force religion on you or deny you the free exercise thereof. Government cannot deny your right to free speech or to peaceably gather or any other item protected in the First. Private employers, on the other hand, are not bound by that. The Constitution only limits what government can and cannot do. It does not limit the people of the nation. Private entities are able to tell you what you can and cannot talk about and there is nothing you can do.
If you think the players in the NFL have a right to free speech then explain why they get fined if they question a call by a referee after the game. Why do they get fined if they wear unapproved clothing to interviews? Why do they need permission to wear special shoes or place stickers on helmets? It is because they have no right to free speech.
In the case of the protests, they did not have the right but they certainly had permission. Their bosses allowed them to protest.
Which means, by the way, you can protest as well (and you don’t need permission) by not supporting the NFL.
Regardless of what you do or they do Donald Trump changed the narrative with a simple sentence in a speech and in so doing exposed a lot about the liberals and the lies they live.
My friend Don Surber has a great piece up as well.

A Look At The News

Debt Limit Surpasses 20 TRILLION!
The US debt limit (debt ceiling) has exceeded 20 TRILLION dollars (debt counter in right sidebar). The claim is that the debt jumped 317.6 Billion dollars in one day but that is only due to the funny math and accounting procedures used by the federal government. You see, the debt limit was reached months ago. In March we hit the statutory limit and the federal government has been using what it calls extraordinary measures to keep paying the bills. This involves taking money from the government funds in pension plans, stopping government contributions to pension plans and other methods of manipulating money the government does not own but controls (one day they will just confiscate it and pay the bills and dare you to do anything about it).
The reason there was a spike in the debt which had held at the same number since March is that President Trump and Congressional Democrats agreed to a plan to extend the debt ceiling and pass a continuing resolution moving the time to 15 December at which time the government will need to come to an agreement on the budget. Republicans wanted to kick this can down the road and Trump wanted to accomplish it by the end of the fiscal year (30 Sept) but the two hurricanes pummeled Texas and Florida and money is needed for disaster relief. Remember, Trump was ready to shut down the government if he did not get what he wanted but doing so now that people are suffering would be a stupid move so he agreed to increase debt, a CR and disaster relief until 15 December.
If he is smart (he keeps saying he is) he will use the holidays to hold Congress hostage and not let them adjourn until he gets what he wants or he can let the government shut down through the holidays. If he goes to the public now explaining what he expects and what will happen if he does not get it he might be able to get what he wants. Time will tell if he is a deal maker or a deal faker.
Rand Paul Has A Better Plan
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said that the disaster relief for Texas, Florida and other states affected by the hurricanes should come out of the foreign aid budget. He introduced the America First Amendment that would do just that. It would take billions of dollars from the foreign aid we send to other nations and use it instead for disaster relief. This is a wonderful idea. Who could not get on board of actually taking money that we usually give to nations that tolerate us, hate us or want to kill us and use it HERE in our own country instead? Who cannot get behind the idea of using American tax dollars to help Americans in America rather than letting it go to help people in foreign nations?
Evidently most of the Senate can’t because they voted against the Amendment 87-10. That means 87 US Senators thought it would be a better idea to send US tax dollars to other nations rather than spending them here to help our own people. One of those who voted against is a Senator from Texas. Sad, very sad indeed.
Remember this when these jackasses ask for your vote.
More Of The Police State
The Miami Herald is reporting that many folks who live in the Florida Keys and followed the mandatory evacuation orders are not being allowed back into the Keys. The police have blocked the road and tensions are high as people try to get back to their properties to see what their losses are. The police claim there is debris and live wires (even though all the power is out) across the roadway. The indications are it might be a week before these folks are allowed back in. They are being told to go to a shelter (26 miles away) and wait to be told they can enter.
People are not happy at this police state. The claim that public safety is a priority can only go so far. Emergency vehicles and certain others who live in specific areas of the Keys (the outraged claim it is the rich people who live there) are crossing the roads and making it in. There is no reason that the people who live there can’t get in to survey their properties and determine if they can stay or if they need to pack belongings and bug out until repairs are made. This is government making a bad situation worse by flexing its muscles.
Many folks interviewed are letting the police and elected officials know that the next time they will ignore the mandatory evacuation orders and stay home. They claim this is why most people do not follow those orders. They say getting back home is the problem and officials are only making it a certainty that more people will be placed in harm’s way the next time.
Gouging Bad Unless Government Does It
Remember not that long ago as Harvey was approaching and people were told to evacuate? Remember how the news was filled with stories of disgusted people who were faced with eight and nine dollar a gallon gas and water ranging from forty-eight to seventy-two dollars a case? Does anyone remember government officials claiming gouging will not be tolerated and businesses that price gouge should be ashamed and will be held accountable? I seem to remember a lot of bluster from government stooges who claimed they would tramp down hard on people found to be gouging.
[note]It is amazing that people in Florida will go to Disney and spend three dollars for a bottle of water (which is seventy-two dollars a case) and not bat an eye but when they have to pay a dollar and a half or two dollars a bottle they scream bloody murder.[/note]
Well now, it seems those very anti price gouging politicians who would come down hard on the price gougers are guilty of the very same thing. The Mayor of Houston has proposed a 9% increase in property tax to pay for some of the cleanup from hurricane Harvey. Yes, the very officials who were talking about how immoral it was to gouge for water and gas are now gouging for taxes.
The tax increase would be temporary (they always start that way) and would be in the tax bill due the first part of 2018. Isn’t it amazing that a gas station that will be shut down raises its prices and charges more for water to curb hoarding and make up for future loss is condemned by the very government that thinks it is OK to raise taxes on people who have suffered huge financial losses and who will have trouble making ends meet and rebuilding?
I think if I lived there and Houston politicians wanted to increase my property tax I would force them to come reassess my property so I could pay taxes on the lower value now that it is damaged.
In any event, politicians are all the same. They think people are ATMs and that money can be withdrawn at any time for any reason.
Remember these jackasses when they ask for your vote.

Maybe Trump Better Start Making Those Deals
Sep 7, 2017 Political
All during the campaign Donald Trump told us that he loved to make deals, he was a great deal maker (everyone says it) and that he would win so much we would all get tired of winning. Perhaps Trump should start making those deals because I am nowhere near tired of winning.
I don’t think Trump understood how obstructive Democrats and establishment Republicans are. There are not really two parties, they are the uni-party. Different wings of the same bird, as it were. I think Trump believed he would be dealing with people who love the nation and are patriots rather than dealing with people who would just as soon see the nation fail than work with him (John McCain is a prime example). Trump had this mistaken idea that the very people who loved him as a businessman and begged him for donations would work with him to get things done. He was sadly mistaken.
Now Trump has worked with Democrats to extend the debt of the nation and to issue a continuing resolution along with disaster aid until December 15th. We all know what happens when Congress is backed into a corner around the holidays. They work long hours screwing us every way they can and then they take late night votes and pass things that we don’t want all the while claiming they did the best they could. The reality is they will pass anything in order to leave for the Christmas recess. That is where Trump should hammer them all (more on that in a bit).
[note]President Trump also agreed to look at getting rid of the debt ceiling altogether.[/note]
In any event, Trump agreed to this extension and I can see why he had to. The weak, spineless Republicans wanted to extend for 18 months (conveniently running PAST the next election) and Trump did not want to do that. He could not stay the course and risk shutting the government down when Texas needs federal aid and Florida and other coastal states will soon require a lot of disaster assistance. The liberals and their stenographers in the media would ride that pony all the way to the election. So Trump did what he had to do.
Here is where I think he can make hay. If the Democrats and weak Republicans start working on things toward that 15 December date Trump should let them know that he will not sign anything that is not what he wants including a tax cut (ideally a revised tax system). He should let them know that he is not afraid to shut the government down over the holidays and that he will require Congress to stay in session until they pass what he wants. It is time Donald Trump showed us his deal making skills.
I know there is a gentleman’s agreement between Trump and Schumer to end the debt ceiling all together. This is a perfect time for Trump to require Congress to pass a balanced budget amendment to the US Constitution. He can tell them he is willing to work to eliminate the debt ceiling but only after we have a requirement for a balanced budget. That amendment should include some provision about how and when taxes can be raised so that they don’t start raising taxes each year to make ends meet (cutting spending is the goal).
Republicans are evidently shocked that Donald Trump worked with Democrats on this with some reports claiming they were quite surprised. Why are they surprised when none of them tried to work with the president to get things done? For months these Republicans have been screwing Trump and the nation by failing to take up his agenda, by failing to repeal Obamacare and in general by failing to do anything to keep the very promises they made to us when they wanted our votes. Donald Trump has been trying to get the Republicans to work with him but they are as unhappy that he won as the Democrats. The establishment wanted Hillary so they could play the usual games. Trump is not a politician and he is not playing their games.
We can help in this process by getting primary challengers for the limp wristed spineless Republicans in Congress and getting rid of them. Vote in true conservatives, people who will actually fight the evil on the left.
And Donald Trump needs to sack up and start showing us the art of the deal he claims to be so good at. If he is having trouble perhaps he should read one of his own books…
