Jefferson Believes in Gun Ownership, but not for You
Jun 10, 2007 Uncategorized
William Jefferson, that is. Thomas Jefferson believed in the right of all citizens to own and carry firearms.
This past week has focused on the folly of Paris Hilton and her great jail time caper. She was in then out and now back in. Her release after three days sparked uproar from across the country as average Americans saw her treatment as drastically different than they would expect if they had been arrested or per their past experience with the judicial system. While I did not agree with Al Sharpton’s characterization about this with regard to race he was correct that the wealthy get over (as he himself has).
This has been true of Congress for quite some time. Congress makes laws or advocate things that they then exempt themselves from or do not practice. Smoking is not allowed in government buildings but members of Congress are allowed to smoke in their offices. This is but one example and there are many others and the one that strikes today was pointed out by my friend GM Roper. He links to an item dealing with William Jefferson, Democrat Louisiana, and his recent court appearance. Jefferson was asked if he had firearms and he stated that he did and that he used them to hunt. He was ordered not to have access to them.
This was reported in passing by the drive by media but what they failed to elaborate upon is why Jefferson has weapons when he is anti gun. Jefferson has voted in favor of all kinds of gun legislation and against gun owners and our exercise of our 2nd Amendment rights a number times and yet he owns firearms. This is in line with a number of Democrats (and probably a few Republicans) who are against those rights expressed by the 2nd Amendment but who own weapons or have armed body guards. Once again, this is a glaring reminder of how the elite among us believe in one set of rules for us and another set for themselves. Truth be told, this is the real two Americas of which John Edwards speaks.
I am not surprised but am disappointed that the media would ignore such a huge discrepancy between Jefferson’s beliefs for others and how he himself lives his life. It goes to show once again that the media will not report on items that runs counter to their agenda and we know that the drive by media is in favor of removing all guns from America (or making ownership so prohibitive that only the elite can posses them).
It is time for Dollar Bill Jefferson to go to jail for his crimes and it is time for us to remove the rest of them from office and replace them with average citizens who will follow the law and do the right thing. Perhaps Lott was on to something when he suggested they dissolve the Congress and wait until the next election. This is the only thing he said that made sense with regard to the immigration bill.
Remember to sign the petition against amnesty!

Jobs Americans Will Not Do?
Jun 3, 2007 Immigration
I was having a conversation with Ms. Underestimated and she indicated that she was wondering why they say that ILLEGALS do the jobs that Americans will not do when we have people on welfare who could do the jobs. She indicated that instead of paying people to sit at home they should be doing those jobs. Yesterday, while I was at my family reunion, we were discussing the immigration bill and someone said something about jobs Americans would not do and my sister commented that as long as we had people on welfare we had people we should force to do those jobs. These two sentiments are closely related and merit discussion because I believe that as long as taxpayer money is being spent on welfare then we have people who can go to work.
The first thing to do is look at welfare and the poor in America. Prior to welfare reform there were about 6 million or so people on welfare and since then (when Bill Clinton reluctantly signed the Republican bill) there are about 2.1 million. Obviously, 2.1 million people will not fill a gap that would occur if 12 million people were deported even if a quarter of them were working. There are, however, still people out there who we can force to do these jobs and help get them off welfare. We also have a number of people who draw unemployment who should be forced to work these jobs that Americans will allegedly not do. Obviously, we have fewer people available than the number of jobs to be done but that does not mean those jobs should be filled by ILLEGALS when we have able bodied people whose only exercise involves walking to the mailbox to get their government check. A guest worker program is a viable alternative and very important to keep the jobs filled if we do not have enough folks (rather than just unwilling) to do them. However, those who support giving our country away miss the point about the law and their argument is often “What will you do when you have to pay more money for produce?” or “Who will pick your fruit?” These people miss the point that as we deport those here ILLEGALLY we can bring those who have legally registered to be guest workers in here legally and continue doing the jobs. This way people who did things right are rewarded.
I do not want to abandon the welfare idea because I think it is valid and workable. Before some whiny liberal gets his panties in a wad, we are talking about able bodied people on welfare and not those with a legitimate need such as a disability. However, we need to remove people who have some trumped up problem that allows them to be disabled. Alcoholism is not a good enough reason to be disabled and sitting home drawing a check. Put them to work and they will not have time to sit around getting drunk at taxpayer expense. But back to the point. I think we should exhaust our resources before we rely on guest workers or before we make broad open statements that they are here to do jobs Americans will not. I have thought about Ms. Underestimated’s and my sister’s comments and I believe that this is a start but that we should expand this to the prison systems.
The prisons are full of able bodied people who are there for breaking the law and the only difference between them and the lawbreakers Congress wants to reward is that the ones in jail were rewarded for their crimes with a stint behind bars. Society foots the bill to keep them locked up. Our tax money pays their room and board, their food, their medical care and just about anything else a liberal activist judge deemed was important beyond the basics. How about we bring back chain gangs and use the inmates to pick fruits and vegetables? California has a large prison population that should be bussed to the fields each day to work 10 or 12 hours in the hot sun gathering the food that will feed the nation. These are assets we have and can force to work. The farms can pay them a dollar an hour that is put into an account for them for when they are released. The farms can provide fruits and vegetables for the prison system in return for the labor and that will keep food costs down. Maybe this can help defray part of the costs that we taxpayers incur for holding malcontents and those with anti social behavior in jail. Working them hard each day might make them tired enough to stop the fights and riots. It might also make them want to get out and stay out.
The idea that we need to have 12 million ILLEGALS here to do jobs that Americans will not do is ridiculous. Most of the ILLEGALS are family of the actual worker and with a wife and a number of kids per worker the actual number needed is far fewer than 12 million. The balance are those who suck the most blood out of our society and hurt our economy. By using welfare recipients and inmates we might be able to make up a large number of those jobs done by ILLEGALS and reduce our need thus allowing us to deport them without all the tears and excuses from the left. We can then have a guest worker roster that would be more easily managed and provide workers who come here when WE say and go home the same way.
This is intriguing and could work. Regardless, it has to be better than the Senate plan that President Bush loves because it is simple, requires no amnesty, gets rid of lawbreakers, makes criminals earn their keep, and removes even more people from welfare hand outs. Best of all, the plan would require far fewer than 1000 pages and would not be larger than the Bible.

Hillary Rodham Wants Socialism, Again
May 29, 2007 Political
Hillary Rodham said it took a village to raise our children and now she believes that our wealth should be redistributed. This idea is not new, it is called socialism and has been tried many times before.
The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an “ownership society” really is an “on your own” society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.
“I prefer a ‘we’re all in it together’ society,” she said. “I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none.”
~snip~
Beyond education, Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny. Yahoo News
The government getting involved in the economic opportunities or making a so-called fair playing field is a socialistic approach to economics. Interestingly, Hillary Rodham and her Democratic cohorts do not want us to privatize Social Security which would make a lot of the people on the lower end of the socioeconomic scale wealthier in their retirement years. There is no doubt that people who live on Social Security provided by the government will always be dependent upon the government and that is what the Democrats want, people who will always vote for them as great providers. Privatizing Social Security would allow people to live better lives in retirement.
I also notice that Hillary Rodham would like to have CEO pay more open to scrutiny but that she neglected to discuss the pay of former Presidents who make fortunes speaking and consulting. Why not open what they make up to scrutiny? Bill Clinton (and many others) has made millions of dollars speaking and consulting but that is not open to scrutiny. Speaking of open to scrutiny, Ms. Rodham failed to disclose her taxes this year. She has not indicated whether she will disclose the information but has, so far, taken the approach of other candidates and NOT disclosed her income and its sources. Additionally, Rodham failed to include the Clinton charity on her financial disclosure statement. Seems that she is not so willing to have her income under scrutiny.
Once again, Rodham shows that she is a socialist who believes in the do as I say, not as I do approach to leadership.

Rosie has Left the Building
May 27, 2007 Uncategorized
Rosie O’Donnell has been a loud mouth anti American for a long time and when they hired her to squawk on “The View” it gave her a platform to spew her insane thoughts. I am all for open debate but if you ever listen to her she does not give people the chance to respond and she asks questions that are off the topic or designed to make the other person look foolish. Her methods remind me a lot of Al Sharpton and the way he responds to criticism. For some time now people have known that Rosie was leaving the view but she is now off the air about 3 weeks early because she is a loud mouthed idiot.
Rosie insinuated that US troops were terrorists. She can parse this any way she likes and she can say that she supports the troops but the statement left no doubt that she was insinuating that our troops were terrorists. “655,000 dead so who are the terrorists?” What she said is that because of our troops this many people died so who are the real terrorists (and the answer would be our troops). Then loud mouth caught hell from conservatives around the web and on TV and radio and she was not happy. She was upset with the way her words were characterized and Elisabeth Hasselbeck gave her the chance to tell everyone what she meant but that did not happen. Instead, Rosie attacked Elisabeth and the two went at it on the show. I think Elisabeth held her own though I wish she were a bit more aggressive and had a better command of facts. Rosie said we live in a democracy and, wither in this argument or another, she mentioned separation of church and state.
Neither of the things she said are accurate. We are a Republic, not a Democracy and there is no such thing as separation of church and state. This particular idea was extrapolated for a private letter Thomas Jefferson wrote and exploited by the Liberals and their lap dogs in the media to keep people from freely expressing their religion, which is the true wording of the First Amendment. Additionally, there is no documented proof that this many people have been killed in Iraq, especially by our troops.
In any event, Rosie has decided that she no longer wants to be on the air and ABC agreed that she did not have to come back. She can blame herself for this though it is unlikely that a person who supports gun control but has her own armed guard would see any blame in her in her actions. Rosie insinuated that our troops were terrorists and all she had to do was tell people what she meant when she made the statement. I would give her the benefit of the doubt if she had a plausible explanation but instead she attacked Elisabeth. She can not comprehend that she could be wrong because she is a liberal elitist who thinks the rest of us rubes are idiots who walk around dragging our knuckles.
The reality of the situation is that Rosie is out of touch and she forces her opinions upon others and has no respect for the views of anyone else. I personally believe that she has a mental problem that should be treated by a psychiatrist. All one needs do is read her blog and it becomes obvious that she is suffering from some mental disorder.
I have never watched “The View” though I have seen the clips of various segments. I could never watch something like this because it reminds me of four biddies sitting around gossiping. It is like a coffee klatch with a bunch of Yentas who have nothing better to do. The show is obviously designed for a segment of the population that has nothing better to do than sit around watching TV and eating Bon Bons.
All I can say is, it is great that Rosie is now off the air but what would make it better is if they could cancel the whole show. I just wish I could have had that argument with Rosie though I might have had a hard time resisting the urge to smack her upside her head.
One last note. One of Rosie’s people drew a mustache on a picture of Hasselbeck and was escorted from the building. This might have been what sent Rosie over the top but maybe not. Seems to me Rosie has been off her rocker for quite some time…

Special thanks to my friend Trip at Webloggin for the video. I don’t know what was more disturbing, the way Rosie acted or the pack of lies Joy thinks are facts. Like I said, a bunch of Yentas yapping it up.

Petition Against Amnesty for ILLEGALS
May 22, 2007 Immigration
I have designed a petition against amnesty for ILLEGALS and I intend to send it to Congress sometime next month when they are again debating this issue. Here is what the says:
To: The US Congress
We the undersigned, citizens of the United States, petition the US Congress to reject any immigration bill that offers amnesty or otherwise rewards people for illegal behavior.
The United States of America is a sovereign nation of diverse cultures living in relative harmony and producing some of the greatest gifts to the world. This nation, while criticized by some, is a beacon of hope for millions of people around the world who risk their lives and their life’s savings for the opportunity of a better existence. No where on this planet is there a better place to live where people enjoy freedoms unimagined in most of the world.
This nation was founded and built by immigrants who came here legally in hope of a better future. Those immigrants, inspired by the freedom of this nation and unbridled by oppression helped make this upstart country become the leader of the free world in a fraction of the time that many nations have existed. In just over 200 years America has shown what people who are truly free can accomplish.
This nation is at a crossroad and the actions of the Congress will likely determine whether or not America will continue to thrive. Illegal immigration tears the very fabric of our society and destroys us from within.
Therefore, we demand that the Congress of the United States reject any immigration bill that grants amnesty or rewards illegal behavior. We demand that immigration laws be changed so that the law enforcement of individual states may protect their state’s sovereignty by enforcing the immigration law. We recognize that proper enforcement begins with a secure border and therefore demand that the Congress enact laws that require the closure of the southern border of our country by means of a wall and provide appropriate means to do so as well as appropriate measures to secure the remaining borders.
Be it known that the below signed individuals, being citizens of the United States, vow to reject the reelection of any member of Congress, regardless of party affiliation, who votes to allow those here illegally to stay or be otherwise rewarded for their behavior.
One of the greatest gifts a person in America can have is the title of citizen. Do not cheapen this honor by selling that designation for political gain.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
If you would like to sign the petition, please visit this link.
UPDATE: While you are at it, why not answer the immigration poll in the right sidebar?
