Why Didn’t Obama Consult With Congress?
Mar 20, 2011 Political
Barack Obama committed the United States to aggressive action against Libya and our military has launched hundreds of missiles against that country. Most Democrats are publicly supporting Mr. Obama even though these very Democrats were quite vocal in their opposition to George Bush involving us in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The big difference is that George Bush requested and received approval from Congress for the use of military force. Barack Obama did no such thing. Some Democrats believe he ignored his responsibilities when he acted unilaterally and without consulting Congress.
These Democrats are not happy with Mr. Obama and the word impeachment has been thrown around:
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.
Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses. Politico
While some of these Democrats are upset at the use of force it would appear as if they are equally or more upset that Obama did not consult Congress. They have a valid point and one can only imagine what would have happened had Bush gone into Iraq or Afghanistan without getting the approval of Congress. We would have had Democrats becoming apoplectic over the whole issue and Bush would likely have been impeached.
As it is, Bush was hammered by the left and he received the approval of Congress for the use of military force. Even though he received that approval many wanted to impeach him for using force. Some Democrats appear to want the same but I highly doubt they will be successful.
Obama has too many supporters on the left who will ensure that all is well. He will be protected by the very people who railed against Bush.
The big question that has not been answered is why didn’t Obama discuss this with Congress? I believe that Mr. Obama feels that he in encumbered by Congress (as our Founders intended) and that he would simply rather do things in a way that bypass Congress. This is a pattern we have seen with him as he and his regime look for ways to accomplish an agenda without involving Congress.
He thinks the Constitution is too limiting so he works to avoid doing things in accordance with it.
Obama was worried about having Congress say no to his use of force (he does not have a majority in the House and any Democrat defections would be bad) so he went ahead without involving that body,
Now he will have to face the music.
Or will he?

How Much More Sacrifice Does Hoyer Want From The Military?
Nov 30, 2010 Political
A large portion of our military lives below the poverty line (there are a lot more lower ranking soldiers than higher ranking leaders) and whether they are currently in combat operations or not, most have served at least one tour and more likely, many. Barack Obama has taken on the Republican call for freezing the pay of federal workers, a plan with which I agree. The plan exempts members of the military.
Steny Hoyer, the second ranking Democrat in the House, wants to include the military in the freeze. He has some strange belief that this will allow them to help shoulder the burden of the debt crisis caused by Congress. His plan would exclude those in combat.
Have not our military members shouldered a larger burden for this country than anyone else? While Hoyer gets his $200,000 or so salary (leaders get paid more) the average soldier makes a fraction of that amount. Their lives are completely disrupted and many receive food stamps. What more does Hoyer want from them, blood? Oh wait, they have provided that to preserve the freedom in this country.
I have not heard Hoyer talk about freezing welfare or unemployment “benefits.” I have not heard him propose any plan that would require the people who sponge off the government to shoulder some of the debt burden.
But Big Dog, the military gets housing and health care provided. Yep, that is part of the deal for enlisting and receiving pay that sucks and those benefits do not make much of a difference in the disparity in pay.
I have an idea though, those who have a problem with it or feel they deserve the same can walk to a recruiting station and sign up. Here is some information to get you started.
As for Steny Hoyer, this loser needs to leave the military alone and worry about doing something constructive for a change.
If you are not sure about joining the military, here is a little something to motivate you.

I Fought For You

A very touching and poignant video. Instead of Al Gore’s film, this should be shown in schools.
God bless this country and the men and women who serve to keep her free despite the progressive agenda of destruction.

Tea Baggers Protest In DC
Oct 11, 2009 Political
The Tea Party protests are comprised of people from all walks of life and all political persuasions. These are people who are tired of out of control government and want real reform in how it is run. The moniker Tea Party is a reference to the celebrated Boston Tea Party:
The Tea Party was the culmination of a resistance movement throughout British America against the Tea Act, which had been passed by the British Parliament in 1773. Colonists objected to the Tea Act for a variety of reasons, especially because they believed that it violated their right to be taxed only by their own elected representatives. Wikipedia
The morons on the left attacked Tea Party protesters (the modern day ones) as a bunch of conservative racists and used disparaging words when referring to them. One such phrase, used by the likes of Jeanine Garafalo and Anderson Cooper, is Tea Baggers. Tea Bagger is a vulgar reference to a sex act commonly associated with homosexual men though heterosexuals can engage in the act. Lesbian women are the only group that cannot engage in this particular act.
The references to the Tea Party protesters contained a lot of sexual innuendo and the phrase Tea Bagger is almost always one of them.
In DC this weekend, there is a protest going on and the group contains actual tea baggers. DC is the site of a gay protest where homosexuals are looking for Obama to keep his word on rescinding the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy of gays serving in the military, homosexual marriage, and any number of other gay agenda items. Those topics and their validity are for another post at another time.
Barney Fwank, an openly gay member of Congress, thinks the Tea Baggers in DC are not being as effective as they could if they stayed home and protested their members of Congress in home districts. He has a point with regard to this weekend because most members of Congress are in their home districts for the Columbus Day holiday (which is about a week long for them). The Tea Baggers will be protesting but just who will they be protesting to?
The Tea Bagging crowd even has dissension in its ranks because some in the group agree with Fwank, they think they should be protesting their own officials at their home bases. Those who decided on a national protest are tired of working the home crowd and want to appeal to Obama directly. He did not let them down and appeared at a dinner and vowed to end DADT:
“I will end ‘don’t ask-don’t tell,'” Obama said Saturday night to a standing ovation from the crowd of about 3,000 at the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, a gay civil rights advocacy group. He offered no timetable or specifics and he acknowledged some may be growing impatient.
“I appreciate that many of you don’t believe progress has come fast enough,” Obama said. “Do not doubt the direction we are heading and the destination we will reach.” My Way News
Many of the Tea Baggers are skeptical because the agenda has not moved quickly enough for them. They want an end to DADT NOW. It might happen and if it does every gay who fought for it should have to enlist in the military and back up what they wanted. If that were a requirement they would not be fighting for it.
Obama is not moving quickly enough for them but they should cut him some slack. He has had to work on lowering sea levels (a messiah can do this), eliminating CO2 (so we can all die), wrecking the economy, fighting a losing battle for the Olympics, increasing unemployment, running up huge deficits, attempting to take over health care, going on a number of mini vacations with his Klingon wife, and selecting a dog. Along the way he had to make time for his I might do something in the future Nobel Appease Prize.
The Tea Baggers, like any other group that supports the left, expect payback NOW. They supported Obama and they want their piece of the pie right now. They see him paying back his supporters in the unions and in ACORN and they want theirs. This is why they sashayed into DC to protest.
They are entitled to that right as Americans but I wonder. Will Cooper, Garafalo and the other liberal morons report on this protest and if they do will they call the protesters Tea Baggers since it more aptly describes them.
Or is that vulgarity reserved exclusively for the people who protest out of control government?

Obama Giveth, Obama Taketh Away
May 6, 2009 Political
I know liberals are wetting their panties over the $13 a week tax refund that Obama has provided even though it is not enough to buy a pair of earrings (according to his Klingon wife). This wonderful Obama cut taxes and now people are getting a little back each week and they should be happy.
I warned some time ago that the people getting this money would end up paying it back. Military.com is reporting on exactly what I said:
Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.
The government is going to want some of that money back.
The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.
But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time.
At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income.
The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers.
About 40% of the population will not have to worry because they don’t pay taxes. In fact, they get back more than they had withheld. Most other people are going to get hurt by this.
The article indicates that this will just lower the amount of some returns. This is true and it is why most people will not even notice. A lot of people foolishly have a lot of money withheld and then get a big check at the end of the year. This allows government to use your money interest free. If you adjust so that you come close to even then you can put the money away in an interest bearing account.
Then again, those who get huge refunds probably think the government is giving rather than returning money.
Tax time will be fun next year but most people will not notice because they have their lips firmly attached to the government teat.
