Exactly What Help?

This was from a piece at local6.com

Police in Orlando, Fla., are searching for the drivers of three vehicles who ran over a pedestrian early Monday and did not stop to help, according to Local 6 News.

Investigators said the victim was first hit by the driver of a silver Dodge Durango on Orange Blossom Trail near Silver Star Road at around midnight.

“The impact left the victim’s body in pieces,” Local 6’s Jacquie Sosa said.

While the man’s body was in the street, two more cars ran over the man and no one stopped to help.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is urged to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.

Watch Local 6 News for more on this story. (emphasis added)

Certainly someone should have stopped and called the police but the question I have is, what do they mean by stopped to help. If the first impact left the body in “pieces” then there is not much help the drivers of the other vehicles could provide.

By the way, if you were in the Orlando area and have any information please call the tip line above.

Another Sex Offender Success Story

A 52 year old sex offender is behind bars and has been denied bail after being arrested for killing an 11 year old boy in Baltimore last week. Melvin Jones, Jr is accused of, and reports indicate he confessed to, killing 11 year old Irvin Harris who went missing on a Friday. There are several tragic twists to this story the first of which is the mother of the child, Shanda Harris, knew that Jones was a convicted sex offender and she let him watch her six children. The local news had an interview with the child’s grandmother who indicated that she was aware, as was her daughter, a year ago and the grandmother expressed a great deal of concern. One might think that this guy deserved a chance and she was giving him that chance. But wait, there’s more:

Jones has a lengthy record dating to 1970, when he was charged with rape, said Joseph Sviatko, a spokesman for the city state’s attorney’s office. The state declined to prosecute that case, but Jones pleaded guilty in January 2002 to a third-degree sex offense and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with all but one year suspended. The victim in that case was a 15-year-old boy, Sviatko said.

The victim in the 2002 case met Jones when he was walking home from school, and the two had sex several times over a period of about 18 months, according to court documents.

Jones pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse in 1989 and served just over seven months in prison, Sviatko said. He was also convicted of indecent exposure in 1994, harassment in 1989 and battery in 1988.

Along with the rape charge, two other charges against Jones were dismissed from court: a second-degree sex offense in 2000 and a third-degree sex offense in 1989.

Jones registered as a sex offender after his 2002 conviction and remains on active probation, Sviatko said. There were no indications he had violated his probation before his arrest.

After the 2002 offense, Jones allegedly told police during questioning “that he was a pedophile who needed help,” according to court documents.

So here is a guy who had quite a record of child sex abuse and he was out on the street. No matter how anyone looks at this, the man belonged behind bars and if he had been there this child would still be alive. I do not know how much Baltimore City had to do with this but given Mayor Martin O’Malley’s dismal record on crime and his continuous attempts to “fudge” crime statistics it would not surprise me if this guy was not in jail because of the lack of adult leadership in Baltimore.

There were several tragedies here. One, the mother let a child sex predator watch her children and two, the system let this animal on the street despite multiple crimes. The biggest tragedy is that a child lost his life because he was failed by his parent and by the city judicial system.

Theme Park Cancels Muslim Fun Day

A theme park in the UK has cancelled a Muslim Fun Day due to lack of ticket sales. The company promoting the event indicated they had not sold enough tickets for an event that would ban music, gambling, and alcohol and allow the visitors to ride the rides, segregated by sex.

Perhaps the event was cancelled when Muslims in the UK found out that the Muslim Fun Day was exactly as described. None of this is fun stuff for the Muslims. Those who were buying tickets probably thought that they would be trying out the latest in bomb vests, using AK 47s, and learning how to fly aircraft into buildings. Of course, no Muslim Fun Day can be complete without the insult a Zionist, pig eating, Jew event.

There is also some misunderstanding about what non-Muslims would have to do while at the park:

But the fun day had caused some consternation: a non-Muslim couple scheduled to hold their wedding at the park’s hotel complained to newspapers that event organizers told them the bride and female guests would have to cover up.

The park promised the party would be exempt from the rules. A park spokeswoman said the wedding would take place as planned.

It would appear that this couple was going to be forced to follow Muslim rules until they went to the newspaper. I am glad that was not I. I would have told the park that I am paying them to use the park and I will wear what I damn well please and if the Mohammad brigade and their jihadi junior children don’t like it they can go elsewhere. My female guests would not cover up and anyone who did not like it could go straight to hell.

CAIR, Not For Peaceful Relations

Charles at Little Green Footballs has a post up that is about a Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) rally. A blogger was at that rally and was videotaping the event. Questions were asked dealing with what people were there for and what was their message. To a person the message was unconditional cease fire in the Israeli/Hezbollah confrontation. What they said was that Israel needed to stop its terrorist acts. When asked if there were any words of condemnation for Hezbollah for starting the war all the people denied that Hezbollah had anything to do with it. Either these people are plain stupid or they have been getting in the Kool-Aid line too many times.

Go to the site and view the video. The people start out peacefully but then they grab the camera and try to intimidate ciospirit, who was operating it. You can go to caospirit’s blog to view the video as well.

So does this council want relations with America? If so, it would seem that they do not want peaceful ones.

Judge Throws Flag On Pat Downs

A judge in Florida has ruled that the pat down of patrons of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team is illegal. He said it was probably unconstitutional for this to occur and this has caused a stir in the NFL where it is not uncommon for these pat downs to occur. I am no lawyer but once again I think the judge screwed the pooch. Admittedly, I do not know the Florida Constitution but the article says “suspicion-less searches.” One thing I am pretty sure of and that is the law and the Constitution are designed to protect you from intrusion of government. The government is not allowed to do suspicion-less searches but the owner of a property may.

The NFL leases the stadium and part of their security is to pat down people as they enter the stadium. This should be well within their rights as the property owners (or responsible party due to the lease) and the government and the judge should not allow this to change. Usually, places say that patrons may be subject to search and the ticket might actually indicate that on it. By purchasing the ticket people acknowledge they might be searched.

I believe the judge screwed this one up but I would like to know why they are concerned about this when the states have already said that suspicion-less searches are OK when they are done by the government. Sobriety checkpoints are suspicion-less searches of people. They are stopped with no probable cause and they are checked to see if they appear to have been drinking. Those who say that if people did not drink and drive should have nothing to worry about should remember that when they complain about the Patriot Act.

Just a last thought. Does this ruling make it illegal to be patted down at the airport? How about going through the metal detector, is that a search without suspicion?
