The Absentee Ballots Might Hold It Up
Jul 2, 2006 Uncategorized
The Mexicans are holding their Presidential election today and it is a close race. They hope to make an announcement not long after the polls close:
Officials hoped to announce a new president a few hours after the last poll closed at 9 p.m. EDT, based on a quick count. But they cautioned they would wait if no candidate had a strong enough lead.
The problem will be that Mexico has to count 12 million absentee ballots for their citizens living in the US….

UN Socialism And Freedom OF Choice
Jul 2, 2006 Uncategorized
A new tax went into effect in France. Every airline passenger in France will pay between one and forty Euros extra for their seat depending on class and destination. The plan, approved by Jacques Chirac and Kofi Annan, will go to the international fund to buy treatments for AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
To me, this tax is something thrust upon the people of France (or anyone who flies from there) to fund something that has absolutely nothing to do with air travel. If they were using the money for security or upgrades to flight schedules then it might make more sense but this money is going to something that, while it might be noble, has nothing to do with flying. What will they do next, add a tax to meals to help with the fund?
I do not like these socialist ideas. I have a license required of my profession and the state tacks on a substantial fee that funds something that has nothing to do with my license. I am required to pay it or I can’t work. When you consider the shady deals that Chirac and Annan have been involved in with regard to oil-for-food, this program raises questions as to how much of the money will actually get to the people it is supposed to and how much will line the pockets of these two corrupt individuals. I have to believe that somehow, Annan’s son has a business that will benefit from this tax.
America has, so far, opposed this idea but other countries have joined in. How long will it be before they start calling us stingy again (think tsunami relief)?
A number of countries — Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Congo, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nicaragua and Norway — have all signed on to the initiative, and France hopes others will follow suit.
The United States, Canada and Germany, though, oppose the levy, and several airlines have complained that it will simply add to the cost of air travel at a time of high fuel prices.

So Israel, Deal or No-Deal?
Jul 1, 2006 Uncategorized
It looks like the Hamas led government of the Palestinian people is playing a dangerous game of Deal or No-Deal except instead of Howie and the banker, they are banking on Israel flinching. So far, Israel has not flinched and has continued to raise the stakes. The Palestinians kidnapped an Israeli soldier a few days ago and made ransom demands of Israel. Israel promptly responded by mustering its military into the Gaza and then bombing the power station and the bridges.
The world has asked Israel to exercise restraint and, of course, the Arab world is up in arms at the aggressive acts of the Israelis, forgetting that it was a Palestinian act of aggression that started the mess. The exchange over this issue has gone something like this:
Palestine: We have your soldier. If you want him, release prisoners. Deal or No Deal?
Israel: No Deal! Now that we have bombed your electric station and bridges we are readying for an attack. Give the soldier back and we will stand down.
Palestine: We reject this idea you Zionist pigs. The Arab world condemns you. We have killed an innocent settler and will only release this soldier when our demands are met. Deal or No Deal?
Israel: No Deal! We have captured half of the government there and will not give them back until we get our soldier.
Palestine: You have committed an act of aggression. How dare you take our people? This is an act of war. Release our people and you can have your soldier. Deal or No Deal?
Israel: No Deal! If you do not release the soldier we will assassinate your Prime Minister. Keep screwing with us and we will take the land back and make your people a recent memory.
And so it goes. The Israelis know how to deal with terrorists. They do not negotiate. They were the first country to arm pilots and they have not had an aircraft hijacked since that time. When terrorists do stupid things, they bust a cap in their ass. I think that the heavy hand with which Israel deals with terrorists is the most effective way and if the US, particularly Bill Clinton, had dealt with terrorism in this fashion then we would not have had a 9/11.
If the Palestinians do not release that soldier there will not be much left of their little world. I think most Arab nations are unwilling to help them because they know Israel does not play games and it is a US ally. Selah.

The Traitor Should Get The Max
Jun 23, 2006 Uncategorized
Ronald N. Montaperto, a former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) analyst, pleaded guilty to passing secret and top secret information to the Chinese as well as possession of classified documents. He indicated that he could not remember what he gave them. The maximum he can receive is a $250,000 fine and 10 years in jail.
A Pentagon official said Montaperto’s value to China included both the secrets he shared and his role facilitating Chinese deception of U.S. intelligence by providing feedback on how those efforts were working.
A senior U.S. intelligence official bluntly stated, “He was a spy for China.”
Big Dog’s take:
This man should receive the maximum sentence. If they ever figure out what he gave them and the Chinese use the information to harm Americans, he should be executed for contributing to the enemy. The idea that anyone would give our secrets away is vile and despicable and the person who does that does not deserve to ever see freedom again.

The Convenient Untruth
Jun 14, 2006 Uncategorized
Al Gore is a big hit with all his liberal buddies who are out jet setting all over the world to discuss global warming, a theory that has a lot of moonbats like Gore in a tizzy. The problem is, whenever a conservative expresses doubt in this theory he is immediately labeled as unfriendly and lacking in intelligence. I have been told that scientists are in agreement and that this is going to happen and when I inform the little global warming moonbat that there are as many or more scientists who do not agree I am labeled as a wingnut who does not understand. I am then promptly informed that the only scientists who disagree are the ones who work for big oil. This statement ignores that many of the global warming scientists are people who receive government money to study the theory.
I was recently taken to task for making my opinion known about this whole idea and I was told that I should err on the side of caution because of all these scientists who do not work for big oil. Al Gore is a smart man you know. Well, actually he is. He has a lot of idiot moonbats forking out cash to see his movie. Well, there is a report today that there are many scientists who do not agree with Gore (where have we heard this?) and are taking him to task. These are not people who are employed by big oil.
Carter is one of hundreds of highly qualified non-governmental, non-industry, non-lobby group climate experts who contest the hypothesis that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are causing significant global climate change. “Climate experts” is the operative term here. Why? Because what Gore’s “majority of scientists” think is immaterial when only a very small fraction of them actually work in the climate field.
This is an interesting article because it addresses some of the things Gore presents and it talks about why it is wrong. It also discusses these scientists that believe in GW and how so few of them are actually qualified in the field dealing with climate. It is worth the read to see where other scientists weigh in on this issue. As I have said before, this is something that they have not proven, that is why it is a theory. However, many of their assertions have been disproved or the way they arrived at the answer has been shown to be unscientific.
Yes, it is A Convenient Untruth that Gore is spreading around. Yet there are many people with heads full of mush who will buy this hook line and sinker. And to think, the Republican college students were criticized as not taking anything seriously because they had global warming beach parties. I guess it is hard to take something seriously when the people telling you the information do not know what they are talking about.
