Businesses Seeking Relief From Obamacare
Mar 27, 2013 Political
Anyone with a brain knew Obamacare would cause problems. The law and the regulations implemented to enforce it are cumbersome and do nothing to help. The cost of the program has risen since it was enacted (they lied about what it would cost) and the downstream current of the law has caused the cost of private insurance to go up. The DHHS has admitted that because of Obamacare insurance will cost much more.
Businesses across the nation are appealing to the government for relief from the costs of this law. Specifically, businesses in states that have refused to bow down to big government are the ones asking for relief. They need help because the SCOTUS shot down the Medicaid requirement. The SCOTUS ruled that states could not be compelled to participate in the expansion and a number of them have decided not to do so.
This means that businesses will have to foot the bills and if any of their employees end up in a state exchange the employers will have to pay $3000 for each employee who joins.
This means a lot of businesses will end up in financial trouble. Some will likely end up closing their doors or they will fire enough people to get under the 50 employee mark where Obamacare is applicable.
It certainly sucks to be in the position in which these businesses find themselves but they should not get any kind of relief. If they are given relief then the costs will be shifted to everyone else. Those of us who pay taxes are already paying for the law and those who benefit from it. We are footing the bill for everyone else and if we have to cover the cost to these businesses then we will be paying even more.
It is not my job to provide health care dollars for someone else. It is my job to take care of me and my family. This is true of anyone who knows what responsibility is. Yes, we need programs in place to cover the absolute poorest among us and those who absolutely cannot afford health care BUT there are not many of those people out there.
Those who can afford cell phones, multiple cars, satellite or cable TV, expensive clothes and the newest modern gadgets can pay for their own health care insurance.
Anyone who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and/or drinks a few beers or other drinks could quit doing so and use the money to buy basic health insurance. Give up the cell phone and the satellite/cable TV and they could buy a better plan.
It is about responsibility and choice.
As for the businesses, if they do not feel the pain and if their workers do not feel the pain then they will never learn. Anyone affected who voted for Obama and his minions voted for this to take place. Those who did not vote for him are, sadly, collateral damage in the war on the people waged by government.
They were all warned and now they are finding out that their decision (or the decision of the low information voters) comes with consequences.
Let them live with their decisions or the decisions of others. If their business cannot thrive in a state that has refused the Medicaid expansion then these businesses are free to move to states that have.
Or they can fire any of their employees who voted for Obama until they get down to 49.
Then they can ignore the law and their former employees can deal with the change they voted for.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Obamacare Will Add More Than One Dime
Feb 26, 2013 Political
When Democrats were ramming Obamacare through Congress they assured us that it would bend the cost curve down and that health care would cost less money than it does now. They assured us that the private insurance companies had caused runaway costs and that Obamacare was the answer.
They claimed it was a wonderful plan. It was so wonderful that the Democrats had to bribe some of their own members and lie to others (on no federal funds for abortion) in order to get them to vote for passage. After it passed it was so wonderful that Democrats granted thousands of waivers to their friends. All those folks who supported Obamacare and pushed for it to be passed promptly applied for, AND RECEIVED, waivers so they would not have to participate.
Conservatives and Republicans (not one in the same) argued that adding millions of people to the health care rolls (ironically, nearly as many will be uninsured under Obamacare) would increase costs. The excessive regulations and the free reign given to the Secretary of the HHS all but ensured Obamacare would cost more.
Barack Obama said that it would not cost one dime more (everything with him is one dime probably because of all the dime bags he bought in the past). He told us that he would not sign a bill that added one dime to the deficit.
“I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future,” Obama told a joint-session of Congress in September 2009. “I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period.” National Review
In all fairness, none of his programs add one dime. They add lots more…
According to the CBO, Obamacare will add 6.2 trillion dollars to the deficit.
That is 62 TRILLION more dimes….
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Let The Obamacare Cull begin
Feb 20, 2013 Political
You have to pass it to know what is in it. Those words from Nancy Pelosi described the inappropriately named, Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. It seems that on a daily basis some new problem with Obamacare comes to light.
For those of us who did not want this monstrosity the revelations are not surprising. We knew that there would be very few free rides and that a much larger audience than was advertised would end up paying. We also knew that there would be rationing and that death panels would be real. We knew that this was unaffordable. We knew that people would be burdened with regulations and costs and that they would be surprised because they thought they were going to get stuff for free.
They were wrong and now it looks like many more people will be paying for insurance or paying a tax (called a penalty) for not having insurance. The fund set up by the government for high risk people is out of money and no new enrollees are being allowed. The plan is costing billions more than we were told AND there will be about as many folks uninsured as before the plan was signed into law (which is probably what they want to get to single payer).
Another thing the informed knew was that businesses would react in a manner that was favorable to their businesses and that has happened.
Universal Orlando (one of the largest employers in Central Florida) will stop covering part time employees. The mini plans were low cost ($18 a week) and had minimal benefits but part time employees liked them. Obamacare does not allow them so these folks will be on their own. Many other companies are reducing the number of employee hours so that they do not have to provide insurance. Yes, those folks who thought they were going to get free health care or that their employers were going to be forced to provide wonderful care are going to be uninsured AND have less money in each paycheck. Wal Mart and Darden Restaurants are cutting hours to avoid Obamacare mandates and businesses with just over 50 employees (the Obamacare threshold) are scaling down to be under that number.
This is what happens when an intrusive government gets involved in things it has no business being in. The business community reacts in a manner that benefits its bottom line regardless of what the government wanted it to do.
I have no doubt that many of these folks who will be affected voted for Obama and supported Obamacare.
Now they will have to pay for that support and it will not be inexpensive.
Good. Pain is a great teacher.
I hope they learn a hard lesson.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Surprise! California Won’t Have Enough Doctors
Feb 11, 2013 Political
Anyone who paid attention during the Obamacare debate knows that we cannot add millions of people to the health care rolls with the same amount of health care providers and expect there to be enough providers. It is also common sense that waiting times will be longer and that people will be denied some care due to lack of resources (personnel and supplies).
California is indicating that there will not be enough physicians to cover all the people who will begin getting health care under Obamacare. The state is trying to take measures to allow physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners to do things that fall under the scope of a medical doctor. This will most certainly add to the cost of Obamacare.
Nancy Pelosi said we had to pass the bill to find out what was in it. That is at least partly true as new things, bad things, appear every day but some of this was evident from the start.
[note]Gun grabbers will be disheartened to learn that Obamacare places restrictions on doctors regarding asking about firearms and forbids the government keeping a database of gun owners.[/note]
Oops.
California will be hit with a double whammy as the government allows illegal aliens to receive health care (Joe Wilson was right when he said Obama lied) and further increases the patient to health care provider ratio. Californians will be in a world of hurt as untold numbers of people are unable to find a doctor for their free health care plan…
Not to worry though. It looks like Texas Governor Rick Perry is trying to help California reduce the number of people in the state who will be on the health care rolls. Perry is working hard to get companies in California to relocate to Texas where taxes are not as burdensome and the cost of living is lower. If he succeeds perhaps many workers will follow their companies to Texas and remove some of California’s burden.
Personally, I don’t really care how many people go without and I don’t care how many who thought their health care was free get sucked into paying huge amounts of money or huge fines.
They voted for it and the moron who gave it to us so let them live with that decision.
As for California, to hell with it.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

More Obamacare Fallout
Nov 24, 2012 Political
While Obama’s labor folks claim they have not heard any businesses complain about the impact of Obamacare the reality is that many businesses are feeling the heat. I suppose it is possible that there are not as many complaints as there could be since Obama has granted quite a few waivers to his minions so their businesses are not feeling the pinch. Others though, are downsizing or cutting hours so that they will not be stung by the huge financial impact Obamacare will have.
This started almost as soon as Obama was declared the winner of the tainted 6 November election and has been going strong ever since. Even some liberal professors (are there really any other kind) are feeling the pinch.
A community college in Pennsylvania is cutting back the hours of its adjunct instructors so that they will not fall under the definition of workers who have to be covered by their employer. The Community College of Allegheny is cutting all its part time folks back to 25 hours so that they are under the 30 hours Obamacare defines as full time for purposes of employer provided health care coverage. I wonder how many of these folks voted for Obama…
This is what happens when government mandates things that it has no business being involved in. When government makes rules that apply to businesses with 50 or more workers many small businesses that have slightly more than 50 workers scale down to below 50 to avoid the requirements. Obamacare has cutoffs and many businesses are cutting employees or scaling hours in order to avoid being bitten by the high costs of the law.
Other businesses are adding a surcharge as an individual line item specifically for Obamacare.
This is wise because it lets people know that the increase is because of the cost of Obamacare and it lets them know that cost is being passed on to them, just as all costs including tax increases, are.
I truly hope that this happens all over the country and that people are left to fend for themselves. All the mindless drones who voted for Obama and his vision of big government are likely unaware that they will have to buy health insurance and that Obamacare is not free. I want them to suffer sticker shock and outrage. I also want them to be in pain for the entire time they are required to follow the law.
Pain is a great teacher and I hope these morons are in great pain for what they have done to this country.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
