But It Is Not A Government Run Plan
Jul 30, 2009 Political
Time and again the left tells us that the health care bill will be a public option[1] (option would mean a choice but it is mandatory) and that it is not government run. This is the way they are trying to sell the bill of goods. No, the government will not be running anything.
Only problem is that every time they defend the bill they call it a government run program. Nancy Pelosi was out bashing the insurance companies in order to drum up support. Pelosi stated that the insurance companies are villains and are trying to stop the government run plan. She claims the villains are treating people badly (as if forced hospice is not a worse fate) and that they want to continue business as usual. These evil insurance companies are trying to thwart the efforts of the benevolent government and its desire to run nanny state health care.
Around 80% of people with private insurance are happy with what they have so the companies must not be too terribly bad. Matter of fact, Pelosi has private insurance (as do all the other members of Congress). That’s right, Pelosi and her ilk all have private insurance.
To top it off, members of Congress will be exempt from the government program. Only three Democrats voted for a provision requiring them to take the option along with everyone else.
Seems that the insurance villains are not so bad that Pelosi and the others want to ditch them for government run health care. No, they will keep what they have, all provided with our tax dollars and from private insurance companies.
If it is not good enough for the people who work for us then it is not good enough for us.
With regard to Pelosi, the word hypocrite comes to mind.
[1] Public option is Washington speak for government run plan.

Pelosi’s Mouse Pad
Jul 10, 2009 Political
When the stimulus was being rammed through Congress and down the throats of the taxpayers there was a concern about money going to repair or improve the habitat of some marsh mouse. I wrote about this and made the point that this is what happens when people do not read the bills and that it was not a stimulus bill but a shopping list.
The liberals were quick to point out that none of the money would go to the mouse’s habitat. It was not in the bill and that we were all liars who were trying to stand in the way of Obama’s mission to remake America. Each time the mouse was mentioned the liberals jumped in and said it was a lie and that the mouse was definitely not mentioned and that none of the money would be spent on that furry little creature. I made the point that the stimulus was so vague that as soon as it passed the mouse would get its new pad.
Well what do you know? There is news today that last week the Obama administration said as much as 16.1 million dollars will go to, what else, the salt marsh rodent.
The Obama administration revealed last week that as much as $16.1 million from the stimulus program is going to save the San Francisco Bay Area habitat of, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.
Republicans, who were accused of spreading untruths a few months ago were quick to respond to the news that they were right all along.
“Lo and behold, the government has announced that the mouse is getting its money after all,” House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican, said, standing beside a poster of the furry varmint. “Speaker Pelosi must be so proud.”
So my liberal friends, those of you who said it was ridiculous to insinuate that the stimulus would be paying for this project, what are your feelings now? Will you admit that you were wrong or will you ignore the past and make excuses for the lie.
Stimulus for a salt marsh mouse. When I discussed it I was called all kinds of names and people claimed I was making this up, I was delusional and that it was pathetic to see Republicans spreading lies about the stimulus.
Looks like the concern of that time was quite valid. Even though Pelosi denied it, here it is.
Will you people in her district in California wake up and get rid of her?

Decepti-Libs
Jul 9, 2009 Political
As everyone goes to the movies this summer and buys tickets to this summer’s biggest blockbuster on the screen, there is a struggle every bit as titanic going on in Washington between Congress, the CIA, and the Resident, as to where the power actually resides.
This is a tale of betrayal, lies, and covert actions, as well as a struggle for yet more executive power.
This would be a comedy if we could play all the sound bites of Hussein claiming that then President Bush had overstepped his authority, and executive power needed to be scaled back. There are many of those- Hussein was very critical of executive power, but then at the time he was a slacker first- term newbie Senator, playing grown- up.
Oh, how the worm has turned- it is an axiom that no one who becomes president ever wants his power to be diminished, and Hussein is NOT an exception to this rule.
Add to this tale of woe, the turncoat spy within the CIA, “Deep Nose”, or as he is known in society, Leon Panneta, the snoop in charge of covertly dismantling the spy agency, at the time where we can least afford to do so- but that has never stopped liberals before (see: Carter years, 1976- 1979).
And to complete this trifecta of incompetence, is Congress, who wants complete access to everything the CIA has, claiming that the CIA lied to Congress. The trouble with this is that Congress is an irresponsible, lying leaky body of people who have their own agendas, and probably would say anything to anybody for money- yes- that does make them whores in politics, but what else is new?
In a June 26 letter to Mr. Panetta discussing his testimony, Democrats said that the agency had “misled members” of Congress for eight years about the classified matters, which the letter did not disclose. “This is similar to other deceptions of which we are aware from other recent periods,” said the letter, made public late Wednesday by Representative Rush D. Holt, Democrat of New Jersey, one of the signers.
In an interview, Mr. Holt declined to reveal the nature of the C.I.A.’s alleged deceptions,. But he said, “We wouldn’t be doing this over a trivial matter.”
The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Silvestre Reyes, Democrat of Texas, referred to Mr. Panetta’s disclosure in a letter to the committee’s ranking Republican, Representative Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, Congressional Quarterly reported on Wednesday. Mr. Reyes wrote that the committee “has been misled, has not been provided full and complete notifications, and (in at least one occasion) was affirmatively lied to.”

This is typical of the ankle- biters in Congress, and could usually be ignored as the trivial annoyance it usually is, but in this resolution, the committee is seeking less executive power in revelations to the full Congress, and Hussein doesn’t want that at all.
In a related development, President Obama threatened to veto the pending Intelligence Authorization Bill if it included a provision that would allow information about covert actions to be given to the entire House and Senate Intelligence Committees, rather than the so-called Gang of Eight — the Democratic and Republican leaders of both houses of Congress and the two Intelligence Committees.
A White House statement released on Wednesday said the proposed expansion of briefings would undermine “a long tradition spanning decades of comity between the branches regarding intelligence matters.” Democrats have complained that under President George W. Bush, entire programs were hidden from most committee members for years.

And then you have Leon Panetta, the stalking horse for the liberals who want to dismantle the CIA- This man is trying to have it both ways, leaking info to Congress, while working for the Resident.
In an interview yesterday, Reyes declined to expand upon the allegations in his letter, saying “it’s all classified information.” Late last night, he issued a statement crediting CIA Director Leon E. Panetta with bringing the issues to the committee’s attention at a June 24 briefing.

This is a complex game we have here, made more complex by Nanny Pelosi’s rambling accusation that the CIA had lied to her, when it could be verified that the CIA had in fact, told her everything she needed to know- she just, apparently, didn’t have the intelligence to keep the knowledge in her head.
Pelosi initiated the CIA feud when she accused the agency of intentionally misleading her, and not telling her about the use of waterboarding, in a September 2002 briefing on interrogations.
CIA documents released two months ago included notations indicating that Pelosi was informed at the 2002 briefing about waterboarding. Republicans have suggested Pelosi has not told the truth about her knowledge and support of the enhanced interrogation technique, an allegation they plan to repeat in today’s debate.

Well, this is going to play out with all the angst and tension of the play “King Lear”, on the national stage, showing our enemies just how like the Keystone Kops we are in real life. What a governmental SNAFU this has become, all because eventually, thieves fall out.
And boy oh boy, are they beginning to fall out now.

Nancy Pelosi Rams Through Legislation
Jul 1, 2009 Political
When the Democrats took control in 2006 Nancy Pelosi said they would be the most honest, open, and ethical Congress in history. The ethical part of that was shot from the start with sweetheart loans and tax evasion and a myriad of other ethical lapses. The American Spectator has a piece up entitled; ACES Up Her Sleeve.
In that article the authors, Jeremy Lott and William Yeatman, discuss that if there were any doubts about Pelosi breaking all those promises they were cleared up after her actions last week with regard to the Cap and Trade bill. Or as they put it; “Our refusal to accept her rhetoric was roundly vindicated last week.”
The Speaker chose to stifle the usual observances of deliberative democracy because open, honest debate would have attracted unwelcome scrutiny to her massive new energy tax.
Pelosi’s legislation, the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) Act, would raise the price of hydrocarbon energy sources like coal and oil thought to cause global warming, but which power 85 percent — 85 percent! — of the economic production in America.
A large energy tax during a deep recession is a political cyanide pill that 44 of Pelosi’s Democratic colleagues refused to swallow. That almost doomed the bill and in fact would have killed it outright Friday night if eight Republicans hadn’t voted with the majority of Democrats. (The final vote was 219 to 212.)
Likely there would have been many more Democratic “no” votes if Madame-Speaker and Energy & Commerce chairman Henry Waxman didn’t find creative ways to shorten or skip every step of that “How a Bill Becomes a Law” song.
The Democrats have been ramming things through at breakneck speed and they have been skirting the rules and procedures because if the legislation is given any time for public consumption then it will meet with the scorn of the people. The Democrats’ plan is to ram it through before we know what is in it and then have us accept the consequences because there is not much we can do.
This bill was nearly 1300 pages and NO ONE read it just like NO ONE read the stimulus. We keep seeing where things are popping up because of the stimulus and we keep finding waste as well as unintended consequences that cannot easily be overcome. For instance, the stimulus gave people a little more in paychecks. It was enough to disqualify some people for food stamps and other assistance because it pushed them over the income limit. If someone had taken the time to read it then maybe that could have been fixed by adding a line stating that the money was not to count toward welfare eligibility.
This is the kind of stuff that happens when they do not read the bills. They did not read the Cap and Trade bill and this one will be an economy and business killer. If this ever passes (and it has a better chance with Franken headed to DC, unless Kennedy’s term expires) then many businesses will move out of the country, our energy costs will skyrocket (Obama said they necessarily would), and many people will have to decide between eating and keeping warm.
It is an Obamanation and Nancy Pelosi ignored the rules in order to get what she and Obama wanted and of course, so they could take off for their WEEK long 4th of July holiday.
Obama said we needed to do these things this year (Cap and Trade, Health Care reform) and he says it is because it is urgent blah, blah. Nothing is ever so urgent that it cannot be read before it is voted on. Obama wants this rammed through and done because next year is an election year and he does not want bills that are unpopular among people in his own party hanging out there like an Al Gore chad. He does not want people to be reminded of the terrible things he is doing while he tries to keep all the seats he has. If they pass it soon they can enact it next year and the results will not be felt until after the election.
The transparent, open, honest, and ethical Democrats have been anything but and this is from Obama down. None of them have kept promises regarding posting bills for public review and none of them are following the procedures in order to do things.
They are doing what they want and they do not care about us, their concern is getting their agenda passed.
Perhaps the Hondurans have the right idea…

Rights? What Rights?
May 29, 2009 Political
Oh boy- where to begin? With Nancy Pelosi and China? With Liberals in general? With the apparently rapidly spreading ignorance of not only english, but definitions of these english words? Perhaps we should begin with the proper definition of the word “rights”.
Right(s)- In politics, implying preservation of existing, established order or of restoring former institutions.
I have to say, I was never aware that ecology of our planet was a right- an obligation, perhaps- but not a “right”.
Responsible caretaking of this planet was first mentioned in the Bible (yes, I know that just the mention that ecology was not the exclusive purview of Liberals just drives them NUTS), and done properly, is not only necessary, but desirable in the grand scheme of things, but to call this “green” ridiculousness a “right” is hyping on a scale that makes a fisherman’s stories sound real.
Nancy Pelosi has gone to China, not to chide them on their Human Rights record ( of which they could justifiably be chided indeed), but to inform them of the NEW right that they might not have been aware of (like those other, pesky rights they already ignore). This new one is a responsible path to a greener world, not the democracy thingie, not the “holding Tibet as a slave state” thingie either, despite the pictures she has of her and the Dalai Lama on her web site.
And for all of you who might think that she might be giving away state secrets by showing the Chinese the new ways to use plastic on one’s face, I am fairly sure they already know that one, although perhaps they use melamine- after all, as we have found out, the Chinese believe melamine is a food group.
The botox, well that might engender some interest, although I am fairly sure they already have “inscrutable” down to an art by now, although they might be just a little unsettled at not being able to see emotion on Pelosi’s face. The fact that she, or anyone from the States, could have the unmitigated gall to lecture them on their country’s behavior when ours is in such disarray, just has to leave them speechless. After all, their cars already get better mileage than ours, even though they use a different set of standards.
The average fuel economy of family vehicles in China is already higher than in the United States, mainly because cars in China tend to be considerably smaller than those in the United States — and are getting even smaller because of recent tax changes.
Cars with small fuel-sipping engines are now subject to a 1 percent sales tax, while sports cars and sport utility vehicles with the largest engines are subject to a 40 percent sales tax. Stricter fuel economy standards have won support from four interest groups within the Chinese government, said a Chinese government official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue.
n.y.times.com
As they say, their cars are smaller, but the main reason for this miserly usage of oil and gas is fear, because while they had been self- sufficient up ’til 1995, now they import 3/5 of all their oil, and they must do this on seas that are patrolled by the U.S. Navy. Their navy is not as modern nor is it as large, so their xenophobic paranoia tends to kick in with regard to their energy needs. This doesn’t apply to the coal- fired reactors, for their supply of coal is vast, even though they tend to kill plenty of their citizens doing so.
Still, to have Nancy Pelosi even attempt to lecture them on responsible ethics, green or otherwise, is the height of hypocrisy, and behind their outwardly inscrutable faces, you can bet the farm that they are laughing their butts off.
Since Barama has been elected, we, as a nation, have no street cred in this world. Is there a single instance of ANYTHING that Barama has gotten done in the international arena? Anything? Bueller? Bueller?
Sending Pelosi might have been effective at scaring their children on Halloween (if they celebrated Halloween), but she, and her message are non- starters. The Chinese will not take her seriously, although for politeness’ sake, they will nod and grin, and soon as she is gone, it will be business as usual.
And they can have a good laugh at her newest “right”.
