John Edwards and MY SUV
Aug 29, 2007 Uncategorized
John Edwards, the queen of hypocrisy, today announced that he wants Americans to give up their SUVs and he thinks that this sacrifice is one Americans are willing to make. I guess the first thing I would note is that if Americans were willing to do this then they would have done it already. I am not willing to give up my SUV and I have no plans to do so even though my state punishes me with a higher registration fee.
John Edwards flies around the country wasting a lot of fuel trying to become the president. I know he uses a bus to get around though he does claim to use biodiesel fuel for it. Regardless, the bus, the jets and a house the size of a small country are all huge fuel consumers. John prances around the country wasting fuel in order to become president, a job he wants in order to massage his ego. I, and many others, use our SUVs to get to work. For those of us who must go to work regardless of the weather, it is a necessity.
Even practicality does not matter though. If some guy lives in a place where the weather never gets bad enough to need and SUV wants one, he should be able to buy one. If he can afford it, the gas and the insurance then he should be able to drive around in it all he wants. I realize that Edwards is asking us to give them up but when the government asks something it usually forces the response it wants. How far will Edwards go if he becomes president? I also want to know if Edwards would give up the armored limo that presidents use (a limo that gets very few miles per gallon).
I find it amazing that governments go after people with SUVs. In my state they charge us more to register our gas consuming vehicles in hopes that we will buy some hybrid. Of course, when it snows like hell the same government is happy that all the SUV owners answer the call for assistance in getting doctors, nurses, and other necessary people to work. There have been more than a few folks who stopped going out to help in bad weather because of the stupidity, especially when the elected officials in the state ride around in vehicles that get very similar mileage.
I, for one, have no intention of giving up MY (the key word) SUV. The inconvenient truth is, neither do a lot of other folks.

It’s a Tragedy, Let’s Raise Taxes
Aug 28, 2007 Uncategorized
As most people know there was a terrible bridge collapse in Minnesota and a number of people were killed. The liberals were out in force before the victims were completely submerged claiming that the collapse was because we did not have enough money to spend on bridge repair and that the war sucked up all the money to make the roads safe. Leave it to a Democrat to use this tragedy to attempt to raise taxes in order to create a trust fund for bridge repair. Jim Oberstar from Minnesota is the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman and he is recommending a 5 cent a gallon increase in the federal gasoline tax for just such a trust fund.
Before we proceed let’s clear up one thing. There is no such thing as a trust fund to a politician. They should be called no trust funds because we have no trust in politicians to use the money in them for the intended purpose. The Social Security Trust Fund has a billion little IOUs in it because Congress is unable to keep its grubby little hands out of the till. They take that money and spend it on everything but Social Security and then cry that it is going bankrupt. The reason they will not allow us to put it in private accounts is because they would lose access to it. They are all truly cretins who are not fiscally wise.
Now, back to Oberstar and his desire to raise taxes. There is no need for additional taxes. The only need we have is for people who are wise about how money is spent. Our government takes in trillions of dollars and yet never seems to be able to pay the bills. This is because jerks like Oberstar add tons of pork to bills and spend money that could be used for something good, like fixing bridges. The last transportation bill had 6500 pork projects added to it, one of which was a 223 million dollar bridge in Alaske that is not needed and is a waste of money. They taxpayers are paying for a bridge to increase the value of land held by a member of Congress.
The article points out that Oberstar secured 14.6 million dollars for special interest projects. Perhaps instead of raising taxes Oberstar could stop spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave and apply the money to the repairs he is crying about. Maybe this jackass could see to it that public safety is looked after instead of the special interest groups who line the pockets of Congress. This probably never occurred to this idiot because he is too busy thinking of ways to appease his backers and screw the public. Only in politics would someone think it is wise and prudent to spend millions of dollars to secure tens of thousands in campaign contributions.
The government takes in quite enough money to pay for transportation needs. They must have more than enough if 6500 projects that have nothing with transportation can be tacked on to that spending bill. Tolls, gasoline taxes, registration fees, emission control testing, traffic tickets, and on and on. Money comes in but, as is usual in Congress (and state governments where applicable), the money is not specifically earmarked for the intended purpose. They place it in the general fund and then use it to pay for things that make no sense. Look at how Jack Murtha spends money on things that no one has asked for just to pay off his cronies. This is the game in Washington and it will not stop until we vote all of these unethical jerks out of office.
We do not need higher gasoline taxes. We need a Congress that is capable of running this country using fiscally sound principles. Yes, what happened in Minnesota was tragic but more taxes would not have saved these people. Oberstar and his ilk killed these people by failing to ensure that money was appropriately spent to maintain roads. These folks died because Oberstar served his puppet masters in pork land and betrayed those who placed their trust in him.
Mr. Oberstar, how can you collect your 30 pieces of silver after sending those people to die?

How About if You Don’t Inhale?
Aug 28, 2007 Uncategorized
Hillary Rodham was speaking to an audience at an Iowa forum on cancer and she indicated that she favored a nationwide smoking ban. She did indicate that she felt it should be left up to local jurisdictions but, as with everything else, it would only be a matter of time before the feds used our money to coerce compliance.
When the feds wanted lower speed limits, they left it up to the states and when some states did not lower them, the feds threatened to withhold transportation money. The same will happen to smoking bans. If an area decides not to ban public smoking the feds will threaten to withhold money to force compliance. Once you let the camel get its nose under the tent there is no going back.
Tobacco use is disgusting but it is completely LEGAL. The state and federal governments make a fortune off the taxes that people pay on tobacco. That is the only reason that the nimrods in office have not tried to outlaw it. However, if they really feel tobacco is terrible and should be banned then they should outlaw it. As long as it is legal they should stop telling business owners whether or not smoking is allowed in their establishments. If an owner wants to allow smoking then that is the owner’s choice and the government has no business getting involved. Patrons are free to go elsewhere and people who want to work there can decide if the risk is acceptable. In any event, government should stay out.
I wonder though, is Hillary in favor of banning all smoking substances including those that Bill does not inhale? I also wonder if cigars will be part of the ban. If so, fun time for Bill will be drastically reduced. He might not have to worry though because he knows how to conceal them fairly well.

Obama: Unite Means Everyone is a Liberal Democrat
Aug 27, 2007 Uncategorized
B. Hussein Obama is campaigning on bringing the country together and is telling everyone that he has the ability to do just that. Obama lacks the experience of other candidates but he is certain that he can do what every politician throughout history has claimed and that is bring the country together. George Bush was a uniter not a divider and those who ran against him claimed that they could unite Americans. These folks will say anything to get elected and there is little chance that any of them can actually unite a country that is divided along political lines. One hopes that a President will not unite us but will find common ground upon which we can all unite. There are going to be differences regardless of who is in office and those differences do not mean we are all intolerant of each other. They mean we have different beliefs but that our common ground is much larger than those things that divide us.
The problem with Obama is that he wants to unite the country but only if that unity is to the left. We can be united, as far as he is concerned, only when we all move to his side of the aisle and take up his beliefs and his causes regardless of what we might actually believe in. Forget what you believe or what you want, Obama wants to unite us all on the left. Here is a statement from his campaign made while discussing Hillary’s obsession with the Republican attack machine:
“I think we need a candidate who is obsessed with unifying this country again,†said Obama adviser David Axelrod. He added that Obama could break “the sort of decades-long battle we’ve had over this jagged divide — red state, blue state, American against American — and try to bring people together and attract disaffected Republicans and attract independent voters so that we could build not just a victory, but a governing coalition in this country.†The Hill
Notice that Obama can break this red state blue state American against American by attracting [to the left] disaffected Republicans and Independent voters. He did not say anything about disaffected Democrats because Obama believes there are none because they are on the correct side of the issues. He did not say that people from all parties could find common ground and work together. He specifically indicated that the left needs to get Republicans and Independents to join in the Kool-aid love fest that is the left. Therein lies the problem. Those Republicans who are disaffected are not disaffected because the yearn to be liberal, they are disaffected because their leaders have abandoned sound conservative principles. We do not want to become liberal, we want our leaders to get back to being conservative.
B. Hussein has trouble with this idea (as do most liberals) because to them, only insane people are not on board with their ideology. This is why they scream and cry when they lose elections because to them there is no way their ideals should lose. There is no way, to them, that enough Americans shun their ideas that they can lose so there must be cheating going on. They did not scream and cry about cheating in 2006 because they won, as it should be, in their egotistical little world. There is only disenfranchisement and cheating when they lose because liberalism is the only way to live and only a moron would think otherwise. Thus, you get statements like the one Obama’s camp made with regard to bringing in the disaffected who surely desire to live as liberals.
This statement by the Obama campaign shows me that he is not about uniting the country and finding common ground where we can work out our differences. No, he is only concerned with uniting us as one big happy liberal family.
Besides, Hillary is the one who can truly unite people in this country. If she wins the Democratic nomination the Republicans will come out of the woodwork to unite against her and ensure she is defeated.

Democrats Agree with Deporting Hispanics
Aug 27, 2007 Uncategorized
The party of tolerance has shown that they are in favor of deporting Hispanics and that they have little regard for the hard work they do. This is evident by all the statements of Democrats with regard to the resignation of Alberto Gonzales. Even though Gonzales was doing a job that other Americans will not do, he was ridiculed for his hard work by those on the left, and sadly, some on the right. Gonzales did no more wrong or right than any other Attorney General but since he is a Hispanic, he had to go.
Isn’t it amazing that the Democrats will fight hard to get legal status for ILLEGAL Hispanics crossing our southern border and want to reward them for their criminal activity but will not support a Hispanic who broke no laws and demanded that he resign. The negative words they have for this man is in keeping with the left’s philosophy of destroying anything Republican or Bush.
I hope Gonzales is able to address all these scum bags after he leaves office. Perhaps he can give his opinion of the gutter slime who pose as members of Congress.
