Anne Rice Endorses Rodham, Big Deal
Aug 19, 2007 Uncategorized
Anne Rice, the author who changed her life by converting from atheism to Catholicism and writes religious books has endorsed Hillary Rodham for the presidency. Her endorsement is very long with rationalization for her choice but it seems to boil down to a misunderstanding of reality and the idea that party trumps all else. Rice claims to be a Christian and I will not dispute that, I will merely state she is a misguided one. This should not be much of a surprise because many of her beliefs still run counter to the teachings of Christianity. She also says that she is glad that she lives in a country where we have separation of church and state.
Therein lies the first misunderstanding. This country has no such thing and that is not mandated by our Constitution. The reality is that this country was founded by religious people based on Christian principles. This is why God is an integral part of our history despite the best efforts of groups like the ACLU to have that history ignored, rewritten, or erased. Separation of Church and State was a phrase used by Jefferson in a private letter. One cannot find those words in our Constitution and in fact, our First Amendment recognizes each individual’s right to practice religion free of government intrusion. In other words, government will not infringe on our right. We have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM it.
Rice then goes on to say that the Democratic Party is best poised to act in accordance with the scriptures by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and visiting those in jail. Isn’t it interesting that she would say we have separation of church and state and then tell us how the Democratic Party is best poised to do things in accordance with religious scripture. This is a pipe dream, of course, because the Democratic Party does not help people in these predicaments as the scripture would have us do. Instead, the Democrats enact programs that give us more poor people and do little in the way of helping. The poverty rate is nearly the same as it was in the late 60s despite spending TRILLIONS of dollars in the war on poverty.
I don’t expect Rice to understand any of this because she has made it clear that politics trumps anything else (and in fact she wrestled with her liberal beliefs that ran counter to religion when she converted back to Catholicism) and she pointed out that religion is open to a wide array of interpretations. In that venue, she has interpreted the scripture in a way that rationalizes the behavior and motives of the left. She states that the “Democratic Party best reflects the values I hold based on the Gospels.” If this is truly the case, Rice is woefully misinformed as to the Gospels. As proof that she has twisted the Scripture to meet her views look at her position on abortion. She indicates that she is pro-life but she supports a candidate who believes in abortion. That certainly should not be the only qualifier with regard to a candidate but this puts her at odds with the teaching of the Gospels that she claims to follow. To top it off, Rice states “I feel that if we are to find a solution to the horror of abortion, it will be through the Democratic Party.”
She goes on to talk about the legal procedure of abortion and that it is difficult to solve and that she is unsure that Americans should give up this “right” though she personally opposes it. She tells us that the solution lies with the Democrats but this ignores the one very basic truth that the Democrats GAVE us abortion in the first place. I will admit that this is a difficult subject and I think there are few who have an idea about how to solve it completely but I am damned sure that the very people who espouse the unfettered right to murder children up until the point they poke their heads out are not the ones who will solve this problem in any fashion that does not include killing millions more of the very children they claim to do everything to protect (it is always about the children).
Anne Rice is entitled to her opinion and she is entitled to decide who she wants to support but she should get her act together and at least appear to have common sense. One can not state a love for separation of church and state and then base every claim on what Democrats will do based on her belief in religious scripture. She can not claim that separation is good and then go to great lengths to describe how religion helped her make a decision. One can not say that religion is not good in government but that religion should decide who gets to be in government.
One also cannot twist scripture to fit an agenda and one certainly should not expect to be taken seriously after making a big deal about how political party is important to her.
Besides, if she really allowed her religion to sway her decisions she would be a supporter of people like George Bush who is a religious man and believes in the sanctity of life. He is certainly more principled than Hillary Rodham (and yes I know he is not running thus like him) and one would expect that a religious person who takes decisions based upon religion might wait to see how all candidates stack in that regard. Certainly there are candidates who fit the bill better than Hillary Rodham who is Satan in the flesh.
That is, of course, unless one is twisting religion to fit an agenda in order to reconcile a conflict between support of party and the word of the Lord.

Louisiana Governor Learns; Exonerates President Bush
Aug 19, 2007 Uncategorized
During Hurricane Katrina and her aftermath much ado was made about the response of the federal government. The blame for the disaster was lain squarely at the feet of President Bush and FEMA while the elected leaders of Louisiana were absolved of any blame by the liberal media and the Democrats who were anxious to pin the pain and suffering caused by liberal policies on the back of the Republican in office. There were a number of posts on this blog dealing with FEMA, the disaster process and how there was plenty of blame to go around especially with regard to the poor performances of Ray Nagin who failed to evacuate his people and Governor Blanco who failed to issue states of emergency and request federal assistance, necessary steps to get federal help (state’s rights and all). No one in the media ever pointed these little tidbits out. None of them faulted state politicians for failing to do their parts. Instead, it was all placed on George Bush who the liberals felt should have put on a red cape and swooped in to save the day.
Hurricane Dean is barreling toward the US/Mexico border and is likely to pack a wallop. Computer modeling shows that Dean is extremely unlikely to hit Louisiana, could hit Texas but will probably slam Mexico. However, the Governor’s of both US states have begun preparing for the worst. Governor Blanco of Louisiana declared a state of emergency:
Gov. Kathleen Blanco took the precautionary step of declaring a state of emergency at 6 p.m. Friday, and also asked federal officials for a Presidential Emergency Declaration to ensure federal assets are available to Louisiana in advance of a possible landfall.
“These declarations are a necessary step that allows the state to move quickly if need be,” Blanco said. “I urge all citizens to be personally prepared, listen to your local officials and monitor your local media as this storm progresses. Please make sure your plans to get to safety should evacuation be in order. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.”
Consider the fact that Katrina was headed directly for New Orleans and that there was no doubt she was going to beat hell out of that area. Now consider that Blanco did not issue such an order then (despite pleas from the President for her to do so) and instead waited until it was too late. Remember that all of New Orleans and Louisiana’s leaders were expressing relief after the storm passed because they believed they had dodged a bullet. At that time FEMA was not needed and the people there were safe. Then the levees broke and that is when people expected George Bush and FEMA to swoop in and save them. Since Blanco failed to prepare there was a delayed response and since the level of alert had lowered (after the storm passed but before the levees broke) everyone felt safe and that they DID THE RIGHT THINGS.
We all know how this turned out. President Bush was the fall guy for years of liberal ineffectiveness and policy that bred generations of people who could not do for themselves and for the ineffective local government that could not lead. It was all Bush’s fault and none in the media or Democratic Party would see it any other way because they needed something to blame on anyone besides themselves. Blanco would not acknowledge that she should have issued the SOE and requested help. Instead, she followed in the lead of others who saw this as solely a federal failure.
Blanco’s current statement shows us two things. The first is that she learned from Katrina. Dean is not likely to hit Louisiana unless something drastically changes (which it could) but she has declared an SOE and asked the President to declare the emergency to get federal agencies in gear to respond, should it be necessary. Her statement also exonerates President Bush from the Katrina debacle. Notice how Blanco admits that these things (what she has declared and asked of the President) are a NECESSARY step that allows them to move quickly. The declaration by the Texas governor and the White House response shows how things are supposed to work:
U.S. President George W. Bush on Saturday approved a pre-landfall emergency declaration for Texas to provide federal help if the state is hit by Hurricane Dean, White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.
The emergency declaration, which was requested by the governor of Texas, allows the federal government to move in emergency personnel, equipment and supplies now in the event the state is struck by the storm, he said. [my emphasis]
By making her statement, Governor Blanco admitted that they did not take a necessary step when Katrina was on her way and that doing so would have allowed a quicker response. She also told everyone that it was necessary for her to ask the President for federal help. Interestingly, she also asked people to get prepared and to be ready to evacuate if ordered to do so, a bit of personal responsibility that was sorely lacking during Katrina.
I have a feeling that Hurricane Dean will be well south and west and will miss Louisiana and most of Texas but I am happy to see that Blanco learned from her past failures.

Hateful Comments Show Liberal Leftard’s Ignorance
Aug 18, 2007 Uncategorized
I recently wrote about Tony Snow and how he will not stay on as White House Spokesman. Snow has indicated that he can not afford to stay on but that he will stay as long as he can. The reaction from the left was horrific. The comments are all about Snow’s illness (cancer) and how they hope he dies a slow and agonizing death. Before I say that all the comments were like this let me point out that a few of the ones at Huffington’s dive were kind. A few people indicated that they did not like Snow and thought he was a liar but that they want him to recover from his illness and wish no one the misery of cancer or any other illness. These people, unfortunately, are a very small portion of those who actually commented.

John Edwards; A Study in Contrasts
Aug 18, 2007 Uncategorized
John Edwards wants to be the President of the United States. He ran in 2004 and when he did not gain the nomination he ran as Kerry’s running mate and that ticket was soundly defeated. Edwards is an interesting fellow because he says so many things that are not true or that defy logic and he expects people to believe them. I guess the real unfortunate thing is there are actually people in this country who believe what Edwards has to say.
John Edwards talks about how he is for the average guy and he gets $400 haircuts. I could get about 35 haircuts at my barber for that kind of money. He discusses this two Americas theme where the poor are downtrodden by the wealthy on the other side. However, John Edwards has a personal wealth in the millions and he recently had a house built that is large enough to house the poor America he talks about. How can he be a regular guy when he spent more on his house than most people will make in their lifetimes?
Edwards is a sleazy, ambulance chasing lawyer who made juries believe that he spoke to dead children. He made his millions by suing companies and gaining large settlements. His actions (and similar ones by the other sleazy lawyers) are what drive the prices of consumer goods up. This guy is slimy to the nth degree and leads me to ask; “Do we want a guy like this running our country?”
Edwards was recently assailing the right wing media like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh when he made a comment about Ann Coulter. He called Ann Coulter the She Devil. He quickly said that he should not call names and removed that description from his sentence. He then indicated that Coulter had attacked his wife Elizabeth and that She [Ms. Edwards] had stood up to Coulter who was obviously flustered.
This is patently untrue! Coulter was on a show discussing her book when the discussion turned to her use of the word “faggot” when discussing John Edwards. Coulter indicated that the next time she will just say that she hopes Edwards gets killed in a terrorist attack (a reference to a similar statement about Dick Cheney that was ignored by the media). Ms, Edwards called in to ask Ann to play nice and stop the name calling. Ann was not flustered though she might have been irritated because more than one person has suggested that the Edwards call was prearranged. I am in the camp that believes it was because immediately after the exchange a plea for money went up at Edwards’ campaign web site. He asked for money and used Ann Coulter and her hate speech as the motive. This guy and his wife are charlatans who will use every sleazy trick to get money and to win the White House. It is interesting that Edwards popped off with the She Devil remark while crying about Coulter calling him a name.
All of this aside, I have one major observation that does not deal with this banter. I do not think Edwards should be in the White House but not because he is sleazy. We have had presidents who were of less than honorable character (like Bill Clinton) so one more would make little difference (and the candidates from both parties have more sleaze than just this guy). I am opposed to John Edwards because he is a pussy who can not fight his own battles and who sends a woman out to do it for him. John Edwards sends his wife out to pick the fights and then they get on their web site and beg for money to beat these awful Republicans. I suppose that the only reason he mentioned Coulter this time is because he is running low on cash.
So here we have a guy who is effeminate and in no way portrays an image of a real man. He has no swagger, no masculinity, no toughness and he sends his wife out to fight for him. Is this the kind of guy we want standing up to China, Russia, Iran or any other nation that would love nothing more than to see the demise of the US? I think not! Imagine if China began saber rattling and it involved a US response. Elizabeth, could you call China and tell them to stop. Get them to pick a fight so we can get the American people on our side by telling them how mean the Chinese are for picking on a woman, especially one with cancer.
So, despite the many contrasts that define John Edwards, the most unpleasant one is the contrast that says he is a man. He looks like a man and I am sure he has an XY chromosome but he acts like a little girl. He is a sissy and we do not need a sissy running this country. Look at that picture and tell me you think “masculine” when you see it.
For what it is worth, Hillary Rodham is more of a man than John Edwards (and we do not need her either).

Hillary Promises Transparency but Fails to Deliver
Aug 14, 2007 Uncategorized
Hillary Rodham is putting out a commercial in Iowa where she is traipsing through a field and talking about why she should be president. I am not going to discuss her farmer transformation because she has more covers than a chameleon. Has anyone forgotten her southern accent, her black accent and her I “lifelong” love of the Yankees? Instead, I would like to address a claim that she makes in the video:
“We’re going to end all these no-bid contracts, we’re going to make things more transparent, we’re going to get rid of all these cronies that came to Washington to work in the Bush administration,” Clinton told a group of raucous supporters at a town hall-style rally. “To do all this, it’s going to take reforming Washington.” Newsmax
The no-bid contract is just a shot to make people think that this is a new thing. Her hubby gave a no-bid contract to, dare I say it, Halliburton, for the Bosnia mission. It was OK then because Bill is an honorable guy. It might also have something to do with the fact that the KBR division has the means to accomplish the mission and no other company does. In any event, that is not really important and those who believe it would are not high on the IQ scale.
Hillary said that she will make things more transparent. Now this is the bunk that Nancy Pelosi and her cronies gave us before the last election and we have seen nothing but secrecy from them so it is a fair bet that transparency has a different meaning to Democrats. If Hillary is so damned transparent, and if she thinks transparency is so important, why are her records from her years in the White House locked up until after 2008? Is it possible that there are things in there that she knows would hurt her so transparency is not good in this case?
Hillary was not transparent when she was trying to ram socialized medicine down our throats. She held secret meetings and devised plans on how to “sell” this to America. There are 2 million pages of records that deal with her time in the White House. Hillary is quite fond of telling us to look at the record they had in the White House so why does she not let us look at that record? How hard can it be to use computers to search out the items? How hard can it be to allow people who are looking for things to go there and look? Why are these things locked up by a woman who wants to bring transparency to DC?
Anyone with a brain knows that transparency and Clinton do not belong together in the same sentence. She and her husband were the most corrupt underhanded people in office and they continue to this day. They are both on a power trip and could really care less what happens here so long as they have power. Hillary Rodham does not want these records out because they might stop her from obtaining that power she so desperately needs. What say you Hillary? Are you prepared to put your money where your mouth is? Will you be transparent and release all your records? What do you have to hide?
Hillary was not transparent with her billing records that she carried everywhere while claiming they were lost so that they could magically appear when the statute had passed. Hillary was not transparent when she hid from the public her knowledge of her husbands marital infidelities including Monica. She was not transparent when she had secret meetings about health care in America. Are there not papers she wrote in college that she refused to allow to be released?
Hillary is Satan in the flesh and she does not deserve to be the leader of our country. She is evil and should never be allowed to hold office.
One needs to ask what she has to hide. If she wants us to look at her experience then perhaps she should give us the tools with which to take that peek.
