President Grants Clemency to Libby, Obama Remains Clueless
Jul 2, 2007 Uncategorized
Today the President of the United States exercised his Constitutional authority to grant clemency to Scooter Libby and I am happy about this. I always felt that he did not lie and I felt that the sentence was too harsh for the crime. The clemency only covers the jail term and leaves the probation and the fine intact. My friend John Bambenek points out that; “This allows Libby to continue to pursue appeals to litigate how someone can be guilty of obstruction without an underlying crime.” This is the Presidential Grant of Clemency:
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America
WHEREAS Lewis Libby was convicted in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia in the case United States v. Libby, Crim. No. 05-394 (RBW), for which a sentence of 30 months’ imprisonment, 2 years’ supervised release, a fine of $250,000, and a special assessment of $400 was imposed on June 22, 2007;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, pursuant to my powers under Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, do hereby commute the prison terms imposed by the sentence upon the said Lewis Libby to expire immediately, leaving intact and in effect the two-year term of supervised release, with all its conditions, and all other components of the sentence.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this second day of July, in the year of our Lord two thousand and seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.
GEORGE W. BUSH
After screwing the pooch on immigration the President came back and got one right. I am sure the left will go nuts over this and there are people who will point out, as John did, that Conservatives views Clinton’s perjury as a serious issue but that Libby’s is not. I have a different take on this. Both cases of perjury are serious (taking the jury verdict as proof because I am still not convinced he lied) but since Clinton never received jail time then Libby should get the same punishment. The President removed the jail portion of the penalty while leaving the rest intact which is similar to what Clinton received. One thing is for sure, Libby will never make the money that Clinton is now. His life is forever damaged because the Special Prosecutor kept looking after he knew who leaked the info. It was nothing more than a snipe hunt to satisfy the left.
As for Obama. Perhaps this dimwit has not paid attention or maybe he just wants to say something enough times that people will believe it, oh wait, the Liberals already believe it. What is the it? This is Obama’s statement about the clemency:
“This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our national security cements the legacy of an Administration characterized by a politics of cynicism and division, one that has consistently placed itself and its ideology above the law. This is exactly the kind of politics we must change so we can begin restoring the American people’s faith in a government that puts the country’s progress ahead of the bitter partisanship of recent years.” Obama press release
B. Hussein Obama wants to be president and he has yet to figure out the facts in this case. Libby was convicted of lying to the Grand Jury (serious stuff, I agree) not of disclosing the identity of Valerie Plame. Forgetting, for a moment, that Plame was not covert, her identity was revealed by someone else who also happened to be critical of the war in Iraq. The way it was revealed was that people were trying to figure out who sent a low level former ambassador named Joe Wilson to Niger to investigate if Iraq had tried to get yellow cake Uranium. Wilson made the claim that he was sent at the behest of the Vice President (a lie) and when Cheney heard this he wanted to know who really sent him. That is when they found out that his wife recommended him for the mission, a fact she denied several times. Her involvement is no longer in question and it has been shown that she and her husband both lied in regard to this issue.
Not to rehash the whole issue (which will be dead in a week when people move on to other issues) but B. Hussein Obama makes it sound like President Bush let the leaker off the hook. I just want Obama to explain how perjury jeopardized national security. Seems that he is engaging in the kind of hype he criticizes the administration for. Also, I have never heard Obama chime in on how he feels Clinton should have been dealt with. Same crime, same time, and Clinton WAS a threat to national security! President Bush still left a hefty fine in place and two years of probation. Libby will no doubt lose his law license and have to write a book to make money.
If I were he, I might consider a tell all story about the things that went on in DC during this time. Sling a bit of mud on everyone, regardless of party. A good book is just what the doctor ordered.
I mean, a man’s got to make a living…

Democrats Tasting Their Own Medicine
Jul 1, 2007 Uncategorized
Back when Republicans held a slim majority the Democrats used a number of legislative maneuvers to block what the majority wanted done. The Democrats refused to play nice and since they invoked the super majority rule when they were in the majority, they used it to their advantage. They even bargained not to have it removed when Republicans threatened to do so. Republicans, for their part, complained a lot about Democrats and labeled them as obstructive.
Now that the Democrats are in the majority the Republicans are playing the legislative games that the Democrats once played. Of course, it is the Democrat’s turn to complain about obstructive Republicans. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid discussed just this and even though I thought that Republicans could not be blamed for what happened, Pelosi found a way to do it. She pinned the blame on “the obstructionism of the Republicans in the United States Senate.” SFGate
Amazingly, Pelosi seems to have forgotten that the Democrats in the Senate played the very same cards before last November and I don’t recall her discussing the obstructive Democrats. Pelosi and Reid have pinned the blame for their failures on the Republican majority but I am not buying it. The Democrats blamed every failure on the Republican majority and told everyone that things would be different if they were in charge. With that in mind, the failures in Congress are the fault of the Democrats. We are going to go by the same rules and not let Reid and Pelosi spray BS all over the place and get away with it.
Here is another BS item that we can call out. They are touting that they passed an increase in minimum wage as they promised. The only way this was accomplished is that it was attached to the war spending bill. The minimum wage has absolutely nothing to do with the war, and neither did any of the other earmarks (PORK).
If I ran the government there would be no pork projects. If someone wanted to spend taxpayer money that person would have to introduce it as a separate legislative item and cite the Article and Section of the Constitution that allows it. If it is not in the Constitution then it may not be introduced. Congress is a run away spending machine and they continually waste our money. I pointed out that Obama has nearly $400 million in pork requests. That is only one Senator and he has requested that much money for things like mass transit and a planetarium in his home state. These items should be paid for out of state tax money. If the mass transportation is part of federal transportation stuff then it should be introduced as part of transportation legislation.
The approval rating for Congress hovers around 20%. Pelosi says that Congress has never been popular and though I do not believe it, I will take her statement at face value. Nancy, if this is true, why is it so? Congress is comprised of people who represent voters (though the Senate is not serving in its intended capacity) so why is Congress unpopular? Perhaps it is because you people campaign on doing wonderful things and fool the people at home so you can act stupid when you get to DC. Perhaps it is because you folks spend our money, and make no mistake it is our money, on things you have no business spending it on.
Maybe people are unhappy with you folks because you push legislation through by circumventing the system and by trying to be sneaky. Perhaps it is because you guys add billions of dollars to bills in order to buy votes at home. Whatever it is, it is well deserved because you are all incompetent.
America, wake up. The authority to spend our money and to raise taxes rests in the House. Those folks, all 435 of them, are up for reelection every two years. We can dramatically change the face of Congress every two years by voting all of them out. We can ensure that they do not vegetate in the hallowed halls while thinking of ways to blow our money just by voting them out. The reason they screw us is because they believe we are not bright enough to take care of them. We can do it by getting rid of all of them and starting fresh. But people have to get rid of the idea that they are all bad except my guy. They are ALL bad.
In November 2008 we can send a real clear message by getting rid of them. Our country will survive and will get just that much stronger. Take action and get involved in politics and get rid of all of them.

Terror: Coming to an American City Near You
Jun 29, 2007 Uncategorized
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have shown thus far, what happens when two incompetent people are placed in charge of anything. Since they took control in January they have tried to force immigration amnesty upon us, they have discussed the “Fairness Doctrine” and they want to hand our troops a defeat in Iraq. These items should give pause to any American who values freedom and believes in peace through strength. If these Bozos get their way and surrender to the terrorists we will see a bloodbath in Iraq and attacks on our home soil.
The terrorists have not given up their goal of killing as many Westerners as possible (along with a number of their own people) and they continue to develop methods to cause mass casualty devastation. In London, it is reported that a terrorist attack that could have killed hundreds was averted when an alert ambulance driver noticed smoke coming from a car. It turns out that the car was rigged with gasoline, propane and nails and could have caused widespread damage and hundreds of casualties.
The alertness of one person thwarted this potential disaster. We have thousands of men and women on a high state of alert each day looking for any indication of an attack in the US. The terrorists want to come here and attack us on our own soil. They view that as a significant blow to us and our psyche and they would love nothing more than to cause havoc in a heavily crowded area within this country in order to scare our people, break our will, and force us to acquiesce to their demands and their lifestyle.
Muslims, and make no mistake about it these terrorists are Muslims, look at fear or weakness as a sign to attack. They believe that if they attack us enough they can force us to surrender in Iraq and that victory will embolden thousands more who would love the chance to become a martyr against the Great Satan. This is what Pelosi, Reid, Murtha and the others have in mind. They want to give away the country on the home front and give it up to the terrorists overseas.
They might think they have a mandate but they will be sorry in 2008.

The Unfairness Doctrine
Jun 27, 2007 Uncategorized
We heard the first rumblings from Senator Feinstein as she discussed bringing back the inappropriately named Fairness Doctrine and now Democrats are stepping up one after the other to jump on the bandwagon. The latest are John Kerry (he served in Vietnam) and Dick Durbin who both believe we need the Fairness Doctrine to bring back balance to talk radio.
To Democrats, it is just unimaginable that Conservatives fill the airwaves with their talk shows while those shows featuring Liberals flounder and fade away. The Democrats believe that their message is not getting out because Conservative radio is distorting the truth. What Democrats are really saying is that they do not want you to have a choice in what you listen to and they will force people in the private sector to give opposing views the chance to air.
The Democrats believe this is fair but what it really is is an extension of their Socialist ways. They are, in essence, redistributing the opinions expressed on radio. They are not really any different than Hugo Chavez who seized control of radio stations in his Socialist “paradise.” Democrats love to redistribute things, especially things they do not own or do not like. They take our money from us in the form of taxes and they spread it around to the “have nots” in society. B. Hussein Obama has nearly $400 million dollars in earmarks requested and this is just from ONE person. He wants to take 400 million of your hard earned dollars and use them on things you will probably never see or use. The Democrats also want to take away air time from Conservatives and spread it among the Liberals so they can go on the air and whine for a while about the injustice of it all.
This week the Senate voted to move the immigration amnesty bill along and the Democrats used a few maneuvers to limit Republican debate on the bill. The Democrats are also requiring votes on amendments to the bill without them being read thus denying Republicans the chance to oppose amendments. The Democrats are not being very fair about giving Republicans equal time with regard to this legislation. Perhaps we need a fairness doctrine for Congress that says they have to allow the other side the opportunity to express an opposing view. That won’t happen because Democrats do not care about fairness. All they care about is remaining in power and redistributing our wealth.
What Democrats want is unfair and it is not American. They want to stymie free speech in violation of the First Amendment. They want to force people to listen to things that they do not want to listen to. They are using the airwaves to force their propaganda on us and they expect us to love it because, after all, who does not like “fairness.”
If Democrats really gave a damn about fairness they would also require this of television and the print media. They do not require it for these media because those entities are favorable to Democrats. Therein lies the rub; the idea of fairness only applies when the Democrats want a better break. When the odds are in their favor, all is peachy keen.
With this BS to look forward to and the possibility of Congress giving away our country, we might need another revolution. We fought for freedom from a tyrannical government and that government was great compared to the one we have now. The next revolution though, will come at the ballot box.
The Democrats hope to silence Conservative talk radio. What most of America wants is for the politicians to be quiet for a change…

Paul Newman Forgot How Democrats Acted
Jun 27, 2007 Uncategorized
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has a new spokesperson and that person is none other than the has been actor and current food aficionado, Paul Newman. In the recent beg for money email, Newman discusses how he was proud to be involved with Democrats standing against Nixon and now he is happy to be with them as they go after George Bush. But, as Paul laments, his wonderful Democrats can not do what they want because they only have the slimmest margin in the Senate and can not stop the nasty Republicans:
“That’s why, when I was asked to send this message on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), I quickly agreed. A Democratic Senate is the best defense against this administration. I am as frustrated as all of you that Congress hasn’t made more progress on issues we care about here in 2007. But I also know that Democrats only have a 51-49 majority in the Senate — and that Republicans, with threats of filibusters and vetoes, have tried to block just about everything. [emphasis mine] Politico
How soon these limp wristed pukes forget! During the Republican Majority, the Democrats blocked nearly everything Republicans tried to get done. A great number of George Bush’s judicial nominees never got the up or down vote to which they are entitled. Democrats failed to fulfill their Constitutional duty. How many filibusters did the Democrats engage in or threaten to engage in? It was so bad that there was discussion of the “Nuclear Option” which was thwarted when the gang of 14 came to a so called consensus. The Democrats are now getting a taste of their own medicine and while I was not happy with Democrats who obstructed government, (and am not happy when government is obstructed in general) I am happy that the Republicans are using these methods to stop shady back room deals and usurpation of the legislative process by the Democrats.
Speaking of the Nuclear option, I remember writing that one should NEVER trust a Democrat. I warned they would screw you the first chance they got. Anyone want to bet that the Democrats, who so opposed the “Nuclear Option” will try to enact that very thing in order to push their agenda? You watch, they are going to get around to that. Harry Reid is already using a ploy known as a Clay Pigeon to silence Republicans opposed to the Immigration Amnesty bill and prevent a filibuster. This is how Democrats play hardball and I warned, no i urged, Republicans to get that mean and ugly when they were in charge. They refused to play tough and now they are the minority. They might as well grab their ankles and smile.
As for Paul “I am insignificant” Newman, if he wants the Democrats to have the $114,000 or so they need then he should write them a check. He won’t do that because he is a typical liberal twit. He will tell you what to do with your money because he knows better how you should spend it. Of course, he might have already given the max but I am sure he has a few Hollywood friends who could cover this without sending an email pandering for cash. Oh wait, by doing that they assume they will get much more than what they need because people will not know what has already been given. This is how Democrats always do business.
One more thing. The Democrats always say the Republicans use scare tactics. In fact, Newman indicates in the email that this is all they do. It would seem to me that the statements made by Newman in this missive are nothing more than scare tactics themselves. Typical Liberal, do as I say, not as I do…
