The Best Laid Plans of Mice
Jan 21, 2007 Political
The rodents that people call politicians are always trying to make our lives easier. They fail to see that less intrusive government is the best way to do it and instead impose more upon us in the way of taxes and regulations. The liberals in office like to give away things. They only like to give away things that they do not have to pay for, in other words they like to spend your money. Most of them are not nearly as generous with their own money. I have often stated in my posts that government is not efficient and it is not fiscally responsible. Nothing ever comes in at or under budget. One need only look as far as Boston’s Big Dig to see how waste and corruption accompany any item in which the government (and its stooges in labor unions) are involved.
Massachusetts has recently passed a bill that requires everyone to have health insurance. I do not know how they can do that but they did. I mean, if you are wealthy why would you have to have insurance? If you decide that you would rather not pay for the plan set up by your employer, why should you be compelled? Basically, people in Massachusetts have to have health insurance in order to fulfill some politician’s dream of socialism.
There are uninsured in this country (not nearly as many as thy would have us believe) and there always will be. Government can not manage anything and placing health care in their lane just means it will be mismanaged. Promising people free health care is not the answer as more people will opt for the free care (why should they pay for their own and someone else’s) and health care must be paid for by someone. The money has to come from somewhere. People in office never seem to understand this concept because they do not run budgets the way we do in our homes. We can not extort more money from our employers when our bills overwhelm us. Congress just raises taxes and extorts more money from those of us who work and pay taxes and gives it to those who do not. The same guy with two cars, a cell phone and a large screen TV (with of course, the big cable package) can’t get insurance so he can sponge off everyone else.
Well, as it turns out, the plan in Massachusetts will cost more money than predicted. Say it isn’t so! Yep, it IS so. The estimates now say it will cost $100 more per month per person (that is their premium) than originally predicted. Once again, government will over run the cost and the taxpayer will foot the bill. The real issue is that when costs go up, or any issue arises that affects the price of insurance, the taxpayers in Massachusetts will end up digging deeper into their pockets in order to foot the bill. Socialism has never worked and it never will. It will create class envy, class hatred and it will make the poor poorer and the rich more heavily taxed. It will keep people downtrodden where liberals want them.
Ted Kennedy wants this plan for the rest of the country, he told us so last week. Hillary wants health care for everyone. Maryland’s not so bright legislators are going to look at the Massachusetts plan to see if they can do the same thing here. It will only raise the taxes of the already overtaxed population. But they will look and they will like and they will implement. The sad part is that the sheep in the population will let them because they have become so accustomed to big government paying their way that they do not know anything else.
Reject social welfare, reject universal health care and reject any politician who tells you it is good.

Wicked Witch in the Race
Jan 20, 2007 Political
For quite some time I have been saying that Hillary Clinton was going to run for the White House, the building she and her husband allowed to become the best little whorehouse in DC. I was told by many liberals who commented and untold numbers that emailed that I did not know what I was talking about. I predicted she was preparing for the White House as she was swearing in for her first jaunt in the Senate and while she was saying that she was only focused on that job. I have a saying about the Big Dog always being right and I have that saying for a reason.
Pushed by Obama, the person who wants to be the first half black half white person to hold the Presidency and anticipating the man who wants to be the first Hispanic to hold the Presidency, Hillary Clinton announced today that she was setting up an exploratory committee to become the first woman to hold the office. The timing is unusual but she was forced to play her cards by the others who jumped in very quickly and Obama’s early support by people like the Reverend Jackson.
Hillary is using the occasion of her announcement to make statements like after six years of Bush we need someone ready to do things right or clean up his mess or whatever. There will be a lot of Bush bashing over the next two years but he is not running for office. It worked well in the last election for Democrats to avoid who they are and just say they are not Bush. A lot of people were elected without actually saying that they would do anything or telling anyone specifics of what they would do. They just said, vote for me because I am not George Bush and America did. People who want to be president will have to have a bit more than that in order to win.
Hillary has a lot of baggage but there are people in this country who are in love with her. I know people who said they would vote for her just because she is a woman. I know people who have said that she would make a great president because we would get Bill back in the White House (as if she would view her presidency as a jointly held office this time). I know people who said they think she is wonderful and would make a great president but none of them can name one great thing she has done. There are a few who said “well, she stuck by Bill when he cheated.” That makes a lot of women qualified for the office.
I have heard a few people say it was time to have a woman in the White House (which Bill did quite a bit) just like it was time to have a black in there. This upcoming race will cause some division among the ranks of the Democrats because they will not know which way to turn. If Obama does not make it in the primary they will say it was because the party is not ready for a black guy and if she does not make it they will say it is because the party is not ready for a woman. I would not be surprised to see Obama pressured to get out by the Clinton machine. I would also wager, assuming that one of these two gets the nomination, that person will pick the other to be a running mate in order to cover all the bases (black, white , half black half white, woman and lesbian).
I am wondering if there are any people who the Clinton’s have crossed over the years who have dirt on them and who are still alive. People who know bad things about the Clintons tend to end up dead under unusual circumstances so any who remain might be afraid. However, it would be great to have some closure on those billing records, what she knew about Bill and Monica and when she knew it, how involved she was in the bad things that happened when her hubby was the prez. There will be a lot of dirt thrown around but the Clintons are always able to deflect it. Bill was accused of having that affair with Gennifer Flowers before he ran and it was dismissed as a lie by the machine only to surface again when Bill had to admit it was the truth during Monicagate.
They are crafty but there will be items that people will use against her. The hard left is sure to use her war position (if they have not been duped by her changing positions) against her. She will canter back (as she is now) away from the war and hope that Cindy Sheehan and the others can forgive her for being fooled by George Bush. Which brings a side note: How is it any of them can campaign on the idea that Bush is an idiot and inept and does not know what he is doing and yet they can continue to claim that he fooled them? If they are so smart, and smarter than Bush, how does he keep fooling them and do we really need people who are that stupid, by their own admission, in office?
It will be interesting to see what happens between now and the primaries. I know this much, none of these people will be getting much done in Congress. They have all been working on the White House since the day after the election and they will spend much more time on that than on their duties. Hill will be out raising obscene amounts of money and will be working very hard to get the job as Commander in Chief.
There is a lot of time to go but if America goes down this path it will be the path to destruction. Though she will get a pass on everything from the MSM, she will drive this country into the ground and will ruin us. The Roman Empire ended and so, one day, might this great experiment called America. If Hillary gets elected, we will be well on our way.

Harry Reid and the Dems Try to Usurp Presidential Power
Jan 19, 2007 Military, Political
I wrote a longer discussion about Constitutional authority and what each branch of government is allowed to do. There has been disagreement for years about the President’s power as Commander in Chief. Every President has taken it to mean that they have the authority to move and engage the armed forces as necessary. Congress has the responsibility to make laws governing how the military runs and to provide money to support it. In 1973 Congress passed, over Richard Nixon’s veto, The War Powers Act which restricted the President’s authority to command the military. The Congress was upset with Vietnam as they had been with Korea (both conflicts that Democrats got us into). No war was ever declared, another Congressional responsibility. The last war the US declared was WWII.
The War Powers Act restricted the President’s authority and said that Congress had to approve how the troops were deployed. This was done as an effort to define what the founders had in mind when they wrote the Constitution (as was Roe v Wade). Most Presidents view the WPA as unconstitutional and generally ignore it. Presidents have engaged our armed forces in combat without the permission of the Congress. Whether it was Clinton’s Balkans or Reagan’s Grenada, the Presidents did what they thought was right with the military.
Now the Congress, deluded with the idea that the last election was about the war, have decided to take it one step further. A few members have introduced legislation requiring the President to get Congressional approval before increasing troop numbers or attacking other countries. This will not stand up to scrutiny and Bush would veto it anyway.
Harry Reid had this to say (with regard to Iran):
“The president does not have the authority to launch military action in Iran without first seeking congressional authorization,” Yahoo News
According to the WPA (which remember, Presidents have viewed as unconstitutional) the President may use the troops in combat for up to 60 days without Congressional authority. That can be extended to 90 days. So, if we take the WPA as legal, Harry Reid is technically wrong. If the President wanted to he could send troops into Iran he could do so and Congress would have to worry about what to do at the end of 60 days. I am also unsure if we attacked them and then stopped and moved out on day 59 could we attack again on day 61? Would that be considered to different occurrences under the WPA? Regardless, Reid is wrong and he is doing nothing more than misinforming the public.
The Administration has indicated they do not plan to attack Iran but have refused to rule that out. The concern for Congress is that the President has moved a couple of aircraft carriers and other warships into the region. The new SECDEF states this is to show Iran that we are not weakened despite our deployment in Iraq. We are, so to speak, flexing our muscles. This is a good idea and it might help to stir up more unrest among the Iranian population who, by and large, do not like the direction the country is taking. In any event, should we find it necessary to attack Iran we may do so without the approval of Congress.
I imagine if this comes to pass it might lead to a Supreme Court challenge to the War Powers Act. Perhaps the time has come to retire that once and for all.

Muslims Don’t Like Portrayal on 24
Jan 19, 2007 Political
The terrorist front group, The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), is upset with the program 24 on Fox. CAIR believes that 24 shows Muslims in a bad light and that prejudice will result. Though 24 has depicted people from many groups as terrorists (including the fictional President of the US) CAIR feels that showing Muslims as terrorists does them injustice:
“The raw emotional impact of fictional scenes that include widespread death and destruction in America may adversely affect the public’s attitude toward civil liberties, religious freedom and interfaith relations,” the CAIR statement said.
“The program’s repeated association of acts of terrorism with Islam will only serve to increase anti-Muslim prejudice in our society,” it added. Breitbart
I think that the hundreds of acts of violence and terrorism committed by Muslims particularly over the last 3 decades is what makes people associate Muslims with terror. In all reality, the groups portrayed as terrorists by 24 in past seasons are far less likely to commit terrorist acts than most Muslim groups. No one from the other groups flew planes into buildings and killed people (despite the conspiracy theories that Bush did it) and no one from those groups were involved in bombing the Cole. In fact, it would be particularly difficult to actually find a group of terrorists that representative the groups played on the show with, of course, the exception of Muslims.
Perhaps CAIR could spend its energy getting Hezbollah and Hamas as well as the Muslims countries to stop sanctioning and committing acts of terror. It just seems to me that if you are worried about how you are perceived then it might be to your advantage to stop real people who are committing these acts in real life. Going after a TV show for fiction when people are doing it for real is a stretch. Actually, since 24 shows Muslims committing acts of terror and Muslims actually commit acts of terror, is it realistic for us to call the show fiction?
Maybe instead of protesting 24 for their depiction of Muslims CAIR could go after the people who were filmed by Channel 4 in Britain. CAIR could tell them to stop talking about killing Jews and taking over the world. CAIR could tell them to stop advocating violence against women and children as well as those of us who are non-believers. Maybe if CAIR spent its time stopping the real people on film it would not have to worry about the pretend people on film.
My new tag line for 24. 24: Art imitating Life.

Hillary Wants to Cap Troop Levels
Jan 18, 2007 Political
What a surprise! Hillary Clinton is moving back from the fake center/moderate position and into the liberal camp again. I know there are those who would have you believe that Hill is Conservative (no really I have heard that) but she is just trying to appease a large segment of voters. She is trying to fool all of the people all of the time. She has been a leftist since she was just a young moonbat but she learned how to play all sides in order to maximize her exposure. She took Bill’s last name in Arkansas (a move she originally did not do) in order to convince the old fashioned folks there she was a good wife so that he would get elected governor. It worked.
When 9/11 happened and when we were building up for war Hillary was all for it. She voted for it and she said we needed to win and that she supported the troops and all the other correct things. Then her base became angry with her and she started to slither back to the left. She took opportunities when Bush’s approval ratings dipped and said that it was time to change course. First she started by saying that we needed more troops to accomplish the mission. Granted, in some cases she advocated for more troops from the UN, but the reality is, she espoused the idea that we needed more troops.
The Democrats have been telling America that the last election was about the war. We have disproved that theory but they keep saying it so they can push their cut and run agenda. Hillary has fallen in behind the goose stepping Democrats and stated that we did not need to send more troops and that we needed to redeploy (which is Democrat speak for surrender and then cut and run) and now she is calling for legislation that would cap troop strength. This is futile since the President will veto any legislation designed to usurp his authority. Hillary’s need for a cap came as a result of her extensive one day visit to Iraq where she was upset that she had to wear protection (as in body armor and a helmet).
Code Pink, certainly no bastion of Conservatism, has stated that the only difference between Bush and Hillary (this was earlier) was that she wanted more troops in Iraq. Now f course, she needs to redefine herself before the next election. She needs a makeover before they start out on the campaign trail so she will change her values (as if she has any) and change her views and do whatever she needs to in order to get elected.
