Murder in the City, Is America Safer than Iraq?
Jan 9, 2007 Political
It is a very sad day in Baltimore for the police department and the family of Detective Troy Chesley Senior. Chesley had gotten off duty and was on his way to his girlfriend’s house when someone tried to rob him. Gunshots were exchanged and Detective Chesley was killed. He leaves behind two younger children who are now without parents (their mother died of a heart attack a few years ago). Let me start by saying that my prayers go out to his children and to his family.
The problem here is that a number of failings of the system are involved in this situation. I will not discuss the idea of an officer dying because he was not in uniform and his assailants probably did not know he was a cop. To them he was another mark. The difference is that this mark had a weapon. Many Marylanders they are easy prey to criminals because they are not allowed to carry a gun and it takes an act of Congress to get one (or you can be special like judges). Obviously, having a gun in this case did not make a difference. I do not know the circumstances so I can not comment. I do know that Chesley was probably attacked because the criminals did not believe he would be armed and they were probably surprised to find out he was. He also probably identified himself as a police officer which would not go over well with the assailant.
After an exhaustive search the police have made an arrest in the shooting of Chesley. There have been nine other murders this year and I do not think any of them resulted in a search of this magnitude. In any event, the police arrested a scum sucking punk named Brandon Grimes. The reason that Grimes was probably not happy to find himself in conflict with an officer is that he has a long criminal record and was scheduled to appear in court tomorrow for two handgun counts from arrests in March and April of last year. Once again the criminal justice system allows violent people to roam freely. This time it was not some every day Joe who got killed, it was a cop. Every day Joes are injured or killed all the time by criminals that the judges let roam the streets to prey on the innocent. Judges live in their gated communities or have a firearm so they feel pretty safe. The rest of us are left to fend for ourselves against animals who have no regard for the law.
People like to cry and complain about the war and the 3000 who have given their lives. There are tens of thousands of our young warriors who carry lifetime wounds and these are the focus of the people who think that Iraq is unsafe. Every day in the US more people are killed than the number of military killed in Iraq. Every day more people are injured in the US than in Iraq. Every day thousands of criminals like this slime ball Grimes roam the streets and hurt or kill people. This time he killed a cop and will probably not be back on the street (I say probably because we are dealing with idiot judges who think they can regulate society). If this had been a judge or a member of a judge’s family the guy would never see the light of day.
Baltimore has had 10 murders in 9 days (more murders than my county has had in about two years combined) and at this rate is on a pace to be well above 300 and this is just one US city. Combine this with the numbers from all the other cities and it is easy to see that the US is more dangerous than Iraq.
So while America’s left laments the war and while Cindy Sheehan cries about how terrible it is over there, remember Detective Chesley, who was gunned down in a combat zone known as an American City by a criminal who was allowed to roam the streets by inept judges from a dysfunctional judicial system.

The Maverick Should Ride into the Sunset
Jan 8, 2007 Political
John McCain is a thorn in the side of the Republican party and yet he considers himself a candidate for the 2008 Presidential race. McCain was responsible for giving us unconstitutional campaign finance reform and he was one of the idiots who put together the gang of 14 in order to allow the Democrats to dictate the agenda and effectively block votes on nominees. McCain likes to talk the talk but when it is time to walk the walk he capitulates to the liberals. His views leave true conservatives scratching their heads.
Kevin McCullough at Town Hall.com has a great item describing the real John McCain. The article is McCullough’s description of why McCain has shot himself in the foot. During a recent interview the issue if ILLEGAL immigration was addressed and McCain said:
“I think the fence is least effective. But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.”
McCullough describes this as McCain signing his political death wish. He indicates that Republicans can not trust McCain and neither should the nation at large. McCullough makes a very good point and it is one worth hanging on to so that it is not forgotten by the time the primaries roll around. Time and again the RINO McCain has done things that are not good for the party and they are not good for the nation. A fence might not be the best idea but it is better than anything the idiots in Congress have come up with so far. The Congressional solution is to leave the border open allowing all the Mexicans in the world to sneak in and then reward them for their crimes with amnesty. A fens, once erected, is something Congress would have a hard time breaching for the sake of their new constituency from Mexico.
John McCain is a war hero and a patriot. There is no doubt that he has served this country and that should not be overlooked. He has however, become entrenched in his position and like many of the life long members he has become complacent. He has lost the will to fight for the right things and prefers the easy way out. His betrayal of conservative principles is the beginning of the end. Not only does this country not need John McCain as its president, we no longer need him as a Senator. It is time for the so called Maverick to ride off into the sunset.
America has too many doddering old fools sitting in positions of power wasting taxpayer money. We need to get rid of them all and we need to push for, no we need to demand term limits for members of Congress.

Congressional Math: Five Day Work Week Equals Four
Jan 7, 2007 Political
I wrote an item a while ago giving credit to Steny Hoyer for making the five day workweek the standard again in Congress. I have been on a rant about the two and a half or three day workweek the slugs in the Congress work and have been a vocal critic of how often they are on recess. It appears though, that the five day workweek is in jeopardy before it even gets started.
This week was not a full one for the new Congress so they get a pass. Next week contains the Martin Luther King holiday so they are off on Monday. This week though, they are off on Monday and then are supposed to work through Friday. This would seem to violate the rules laid down by Mr. Hoyer. Why are they off tomorrow? They are off because of the National Championship football game between Ohio State and Florida State.
This is a pathetic reason not to be at work. Do they have to take leave to have the day off or are the taxpayers paying these slugs to take the day off and watch football. Will they be in late on Tuesday because of travel, or in the case of Kennedy, a hangover? I imagine they will need to be off the day after the Superbowl. Hell, when the World Series comes up they can take off a couple of weeks for the playoffs and the championship. This is a poor use of taxpayer money and is not fiscally sound. How many other American workers get the day off tomorrow because of a college football game?
All these worthless wastes of money need to start showing up on Monday and working until Friday. That is what most of America has to do and since they represent us they should be leading by example. I said it before but I will repeat it for those who missed it. I do not care if they live in far away places and if they miss their families. They have it a hell of a lot better than our soldiers who are separated from their families for very long periods of time. In fact, when our troops leave their families don’t know if it is the last time they will see their loved one alive. So all these whining slugs in Congress need to stop their belly-aching and get to work. No one forced any of them to run for office. If they do not like the fact they have to be in DC for long periods of time then I have a suggestion for them. DO NOT RUN FOR OFFICE.
Is it any wonder nothing ever gets done in Congress?

I’m a Ca ca
Jan 7, 2007 Political
Back when George Allen was running for the Congress a little sand flea named S.R. Sidarth followed him around filming him until that one fateful day when Allen called him Macaca. The film of this was played all over and soon the allegations of racism started when some liberal decided that this word, Macaca, was a racial slur in some remote part of the world where people use their hands instead of toilet paper. A big deal was made of it by the left and its sock puppets in the MSM. The same people who equated this word with racism failed to equate the words written by Allen’s opponent (James Webb) as an endorsement of pedophilia.
Well, S.R. Sidarth applied to get into a class at the University of Virginia. The class, Campaigns and Elections, is taught by Larry Sabato, a man reported to be a very partisan Democrat. I will reproduce the entire essay that Sidarth wrote to get in the class:
“I am macaca.â€
Hope that was not too wordy or that it did not put you to sleep. Believe it or not, Sabato accepted this and allowed the “man” to attend his class. I am pretty sure that the fact that Macaca hurt a Republican played into this. I am willing to bet that John O’Neill would not get in with an essay that read “I am Kerry Swiftboater.” To be fair, Edmund Jordan, the guy who outed Mark Foley might get in with an essay entitled “I am page boy” but that would only be because Foley was a Republican.
So it is time to visit this whole Macaca thing. Sidarth was supposed to be offended when another called him Macaca but it is OK for him to refer to himself that way. This rule must have been written by the same folks who say it is OK for a black person to call another a nigger but a white person better not. Speaking of that, I wonder if those two folks who were offended by Michael Richards could get in with an essay consisting entirely of the words “I am nigger”?
The political scene has changed because of this as pointed out by Mary Grabar at TownHall.com. She points out that after Macaca (and I will refer to him as that from now on because he said that is who he is) filmed this and it received a lot of play, Democrats all over were stalking Republicans with video cameras in order to catch them in a slip-up. In some cases the Republican candidates were provoked to see if they would slip up. On the surface there is nothing wrong with this (well the provocation is probably over the top) but the problems arise when media outlets only show the snippets that portray the candidate in a bad light. Grabar points out that when an abrasive person was shouting at Allen and was tackled, the tackle is the only thing that people saw on the news. If it is going to be filmed it should be played in its entirety so that viewers can make up their own minds based upon everything available. Unfortunately, the MSM pines for the days when it molded the thoughts of America and will do anything to relive those glory days. Unfortunately, there are many people in this country who have mush for brains and are more than willing to let the MSM tell them how they should think.
Grabar has a well written piece with a lot of information about Macaca as well as the trend to use college kids to provoke candidates. I would like to run for one of those offices. I would never win nor would I want to. I am way too smart to be in Congress. I would just like to be able to put the smack down on liberal college kids who think they are smarter than anyone else. I would have those little bed wetters crying for mommy and daddy to come take them home and feed them a soy milk bottle. I really wish I were the one running when the Macaca thing happened. Macaca would not be introduced into the American lexicon but a lot of other things would.
What candidates need to do is have their own camera crews to document everything that takes place so that the half truths and distortions of the MSM and the liberals can be debunked. Admittedly, those films would not find their way to the MSM but there are a few conservative stations and plenty of conservative blogs ready to show the entire truth, not some mo’ ca ca put together by the liberals and the monkeys in the Democratic Party.

Nancy Pelosi Gets Her Own Street Sign
Jan 6, 2007 Political
As I reported earlier, Nancy Pelosi was honored by having a street named after her in Baltimore, the city she grew up in. The street sign was placed during a ceremony in a rainy downtown Baltimore. In order to not only honor the woman but to honor her beliefs and to reflect on the Democratic Party, the Nancy Pelosi Street sign had a few others attached to it. As you can see from the picture, taken in Downtown Baltimore, No expense was spared to honor the new Screecher of the House. This truly captures the essence of such an “average” woman.
