A Politician By Any Other Name, Will Never Smell Sweet

My aplogies to Shakespeare for the title.
The Democrats took control of both houses of Congress as a result of historical trend more than any ideological superiority though the MSM trumpets this as a referendum on the war on terror in Iraq. It is no secret that George Bush is intensely loyal to those with whom he works. His loyalty has stood up for six years and was the object of much scorn from the left. His loyalty to Secretary Rumsfeld was constantly the subject of debate with regard to the handling of the war. Democrats like to think this kind of loyalty is bad, until of course, they are in power.

Nancy Pelosi is set to become the Speaker of the House and she has made no bones about the fact that any Democrat who worked with Republicans will not get a leadership position. She has endorsed Jack “ABSCAM” Murtha as House Majority Leader over Steny Hoyer with whom she has had a rocky relationship. Interestingly, this quote comes from an article in the Allen Report (Time):

The incoming Speaker credits Murtha for changing the debate on Iraq, which helped make Democrats a credible alternative to Republicans in the election, according to an official familiar with her position. “She also places a high premium on loyalty,” the official said. [my emphasis]

So on one hand the loyalty George Bush showed to his people was bad but Pelosi values loyalty. Given that she will not put Democrats who worked with republicans in leadership positions I think that it is fair to say she values loyalty so long as the loyalty is to her.

I have mixed feelings about this. I do not like either Hoyer or Murtha but a Hoyer win would be a defeat for Pelosi and that is a good thing. On the other hand, though I would never vote for ABSCAM, I think a win by him would show that the Democrats are truly the cut and run party, as if sane people did not already know that. ABSCAM is reportedly pro-gun and pro-life and is seen as right of center on most issues except the issue of the war. By backing him, Pelosi has shown that the only issue that matters to the Democrats, through their assumed leader, is the war. If Democrats think that this is the only issue on the table or that it was the deciding factor in the past election they are setting themselves up for failure in 2008.

Another interesting thing in the article is the mention that Pelosi is trying to appear moderate. I have said all along that the Democrats know liberalism fails and when they run as the liberals they really are, they lose. This is why they ran so many “moderate” Democrats in the last election and why Hillary tries to take stances that fall in the middle. Here is what was said about Pelosi:

But if she didn’t publicly support Murtha, it would feed into the perception of her as a liberal – something she has been trying to change over the past couple of months in trying to appear moderate.”

Everyone knows Pelosi is very liberal and the fact that she won in the extreme City of San Francisco with about 80% of the vote shows she has a lot of liberal support. She has claimed to be a liberal and her views are way to the left. However, in order to fool the general public she wants to appear moderate. Nancy Pelosi comes from a long line of liberal politicians and they were not liberal enough so she moved to the most liberal place in this country.

It is all a shell game and what once was bad will be good now that the donks are in charge.

Lieberman Keeps His Mind Open

I have been pretty tough on Joe Lieberman after his remarks indicating that we should call him a Democrat. He has however, recently indicated that he has kept his mind open on the possibility of switching to the Republican Party. He is correct in saying that he was never told that we helped him so he would switch parties and that we told him to do what is best to him.

It would be fine with me if he stayed Independent but it would be nice if he caucused with the Republicans thereby making it a 50-50 tie in the Senate. If he decides to change parties then all the better though he better be counting this as his last election because the folks in his home state might not ever reelect him.

I think that after the way he was treated by members of his party he would be only too happy to at least caucus with the Republicans as sort of a protest and a way to stick it in their faces for what they did to him. Other Democrats should be wary because the way Lieberman was treated is exactly how Pelosi plans on treating any other Democrat who worked with the Republicans.

It will be fun to watch.

Jackass of the Month for December

It is that time again to vote for your favorite jackass to be Jackass of the Month. Usually this vote is reserved for those on the left who represent their symbol so well but considering how Republicans have acted and the results of those actions in the last election I have decided to add them as well. The voters get a nod for acting like jackasses as well. Joe Lieberman is on their because despite all the help he received from the Republican Party and his claim to have found Independence, he proclaimed this week that we can call him a Democrat. No good deed goes unpunished.

The nominees are:

  • John Kerry for his lack of respect for the troops
  • The Republican Politicians for their lack of leadership
  • The voters for lack of sense
  • Joe Lieberman for biting the hand that fed him

Please take the time to vote by going to the right sidebar and casting a ballot for your “favorite” Jackass.

As always, I welcome your comments.

Democrats Win Viewed as Victory by Iran

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called the Democratic sweep of Congress a win for his country. I said all along that the terrorists wanted the Democrats in office and they [the terrorists] conformed that in an interview with WND that was released just before the election. Terrorist sponsoring nations across the globe cheered the Democrats as the were elected to majorities in both chambers of Congress. Iran is just the latest to swoon over their friends on the left.

“This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush’s hawkish policies in the world,” Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran’s student news agency ISNA on Friday.

“Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation.” al-Reuters

The US has had hawkish policies against Iran building a nuclear bomb, and there is no doubt in the mind of anyone with a brain that this is what is taking place. It will take an Iranian bomb detonating in America before the left acknowledges that there might be a problem. America has spoken, I just hope she does not have to eat her words.

I said it before, when the terrorists are cheering for you, you are not the ones that should be in charge.

So The Democrats Lied To America, Will Stay the Course in Iraq

You know what we have all been hearing for the past two days? It was the war dummy. It was Iraq. George Bush took us to Iraq and America is tired of it. Only the Democrats offered hope and they will bring our troops home. All through the campaign I heard worthless Democrats tell me on TV ads that they wanted to bring our troops home quickly. They needed to pull out of “George Bush’s War.” They could do it with the Murtha plan and get our troops home soon. Hillary said that she hoped that they would start “redeploying” (a donk word for cutting and running) by the end of the year and was disappointed that this might not happen.

The donks also ran moderates in red states so that they would appeal to the red state voters. This worked as voters decided to pick a moderate Democrat over a Republican who does not know how to be a Conservative. They still stayed the course with their we need to get out of Iraq mantra. Rush said the only voter fraud was Democrats pretending to be conservative but that is not the voter fraud. Iraqi officials said today that Democrats who spoke with them prior to the election promised that Americans would not be leaving Iraq any time soon.

President Jalal Talabani said Thursday that he had been assured by Democrat congressional leaders during a recent visit to Washington that they had no plans for a quick withdrawal of U.S. forces.
Talabani, a Kurd whose post is ceremonial, said Democrats also backed the idea of placing U.S. troops in bases while putting Iraqis in charge of security in and around cities.
“They all told me that they want the success of Iraq’s democratically elected government and continued support for the Iraqi people to defeat terrorism,” Talabani said about his trip to the United States in late September as many were predicting the Democratic congressional triumph in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
“One of them (a Democrat leader) told me that any early withdrawal will be a catastrophe for the United States and the world,” Talabani, speaking from his northern hometown of Sulaimaniyah, told the Dubai-based Al-Jazeera satellite broadcaster. (my emphasis) Boston Herald

Now America, do those of you who stayed home or gave a protest vote feel foolish yet? The damned Democrats were telling the Iraqis the same thing Republicans were telling you. They were told that America would not leave Iraq any time soon (what Bush has said all along) and that leaving Iraq too soon would be a disaster which is the same thing that Republicans have been saying all along. The Democrats lied to you about the war in order to be reelected. Very soon now they will be saying that we can’t come home as soon as they thought because Bush screwed everything up. You will know the truth. They had no intentions of leaving early. They only said it to get your votes. You elected them to office and they will do the very thing you rejected Republicans for.

Good job America. This is why they should require literacy tests before you can vote. The Democratic Party lied about their intentions. It does not surprise me but there are a whole lot of you that were duped into thinking the world would be full of milk and honey. Wrong answer. The problem is we allow the model ID10T people to vote.

I guess Talabani kept his mouth shut to help the Democrats into office. He probably got assurances from them before the elections in exchange for keeping his mouth shut until they had won. Now, he has come out public very quickly so they do not screw him and go back on their word. The Arab world knows how to ensure they don’t get screwed in bargains and Talabani is just keeping the Democrats (for lack of a better word) honest.
