Who Exactly, Is Saying Rumsfeld Must Go?
Nov 4, 2006 Political
Andrew Sullivan has a piece at his Time blog indicating that the Army Times is calling for the resignation or firing of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The Army Times is not an official Army publication and is not a professional journal. As Oak Leaf points out over at Stop the ACLU, the Army Times is part of the Army Times Publishing Company and, in addition to the Army Times, includes the Air Force Times, Marine Corps Times, and Navy Times. It also includes the Federal Times, Defense News and Military Market. These publications are owned by the Gannett Group which also owns USA Today. Oak Leaf also reveals that the writers of the “military papers” also write for USA Today.
So the big question is, who is calling for Rumsfeld’s job? Did all the guys in the military get together and decide that they wanted Rumsfeld out and then they called the Army Times, an unofficial publication or did a bunch of folks at USA Today decide that they wanted Rumsfeld out and at the same time they would like to see Democrats do well this Tuesday so they wrote the story and published it in a paper that would make it appear as if the military were behind it? I don’t know but it is awfully strange that this is being released a few days before the election and it is being released by a surrogate of a liberal American Newspaper.
Sullivan calls the military desperate but when I read the piece I see a publication making a last minute move of desperation before an important election. It is painfully obvious that all the buzz words are there in order to influence voters. From Sullivan’s piece:
But until recently, the “hard bruising” truth about the Iraq war has been difficult to come by from leaders in Washington. One rosy reassurance after another has been handed down by President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld: “mission accomplished,” the insurgency is “in its last throes,” and “back off,” we know what we’re doing, are a few choice examples.
Since this publication is primarily bought by the military one can only conclude that the Gannett Group is either trying to persuade military members to vote Democrat (the military overwhelmingly votes Republican. This is why Democrats like Ed Rendell and Al Gore try to discount their votes) because all their leaders have lost confidence in the President’s party or they are trying to influence the general public by giving the appearance that a military publication is not backing the SECDEF. I lean toward troop influence, look at the buzz words and how they are aimed at the troops. They told you these things and they lied. Can you continue to trust them. That is how I read it. People should not be fooled by the article’s claim that this has nothing to do with the midterm elections. It has everything to do with the midterms.
I agree with Oak Leaf that many of these military papers are on their way out. I never subscribed to one and I only bought the Army Times when the promotion list was coming out so I could see if I or one of my soldiers got promoted. Usually, one of us bought the paper and shared it with all the others so no one else wasted their money. If you planned it right you could get your haircut the day the paper came out and read it for free at the barber shop. Now that we have Al Gore’s Internet, we can look up promotion information instantly.
Three days until the elections and this piece comes out. It is yet another hatchet job run on the Republicans by the liberal biased MSM and the terrible part is that they disguised it as a military piece. Liberals have no courage of their convictions, not even the libs in the newspaper business. My mother always told me to consider the source. Considering the source of this hit job, I would ignore it.

Peaceful Leftists Sure Don’t Act Peaceful
Nov 4, 2006 Political
A secret trip to Iraq was just completed by the Gold Star Families (thanks to Move America Forward) and they are back to tell America what it is really like in Iraq. Since the MSM and other outlets refuse to report on any of the good things that take place, the Gold Star Families went for themselves to see the progress that their loved ones died to bring about. Here is the exclusive from the Sacramento Union:
In a stunning and historic trip under the utmost secrecy, a delegation of families of fallen U.S. troops have traveled to Iraq to counter critics of the war effort, just days before the Nov. 7 midterm elections.
The delegation of “Gold Star Families†agreed to provide the Sacramento Union with an exclusive account of their trip to Iraq based on the assurance that news of their mission would not be published until they had safely left Amman, Jordan.
So secret is their trip that even members of the Bush Administration were kept in the dark about their planned activities.
They’ve come to Iraq from cities throughout America as part of a 12-person delegation in a history-making effort – no other coordinated group of “Gold Star Families†has ever traveled to Iraq, and they come with a message that is sure to ignite a firestorm of debate.
“The American people are shown a skewed picture of the situation in Iraq day after day by the international news media. We felt it was time to allow the families of U.S. troops who died in Iraq to come see the progress being made in Iraq and report it back to the American ,†said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.
Move America Forward, a Sacramento-based pro-troop non-profit organization is organizing the 10-day journey to Iraq. The group previously led a contingent of radio talk show hosts to Iraq in July 2005.
To demonstrate their contention that things are better in Iraq than what has been portrayed in many news accounts, the delegation is intentionally traveling to Iraqi provinces that have largely been free of the violence that has erupted in Baghdad and the surrounding Sunni triangle.
“Shouldn’t the American people be told about the good things happening in Iraq? Isn’t it legitimate news for example to be told of the success enjoyed by the people of northern Iraq who have established democratic institutions in communities that are almost entirely free of violence?†Morgan asked.
Of course, when ever an organization or group does something positive for America and her troops, especially close to an election, the moonbats have to come out from their holes and criticize the whole issue. This trip must be particularly stinging coming on the back of John Kerry’s remarks this week. When moonbats discuss the war they always discuss peace, holding hands, singing songs, and everybody all getting along in ignorant bliss. They decry American troops as killers and say that the deaths are tragic. Yet, these very same moonbats constantly wish death on people in America with whom they disagree. This is true of the feeling expressed toward the Gold Star Families:
“psst…it ain’t a secret anymore. I’m posting this article on every islamist and anti-coalition message board i can find.
>grin”

“it would be such an ironic tragedy if these hacks died on their trip…hahaa”
-> Posted by jar jar / Nov 04, 2006
Some idiot named jar jar claims he will post the information in a place where it could cause problems which means he feels compelled to help the enemy (are we sure this is not John Kerry) but the most disturbing is when he says it would be an ironic tragedy of they died on the trip. This is the kind of hatred that the left has for people with whom they disagree. This is why the left is looked at as unpatriotic and as a bunch of hypocrites. The decry killing yet have no problem if their own people die.
These kinds of people are no better than the folks at the Westboro Baptist Church. They go on death watch every time the VP goes to the hospital and they look forward to his death so much they are actually disappointed when he does well. When someone lobbed a grenade at the President, the complaint from the left was not that someone tried to kill the POTUS but that they did it in another country and if they had been successful we might have started another war. The comment was along the lines of, that is all we need, him to get killed out of the country, as if in the country would be fine.
When Bill Clinton went in for surgery Conservatives said prayers for him. When John Edwards’ wife went in for her breast cancer treatments, the people on the right prayed for her and sent her well wishes. One would also find it difficult to see people dreaming about the death of momma moonbat, Cindy Sheehan. I guess it is only taboo to think ill of liberals who are victims. It is troublesome to think that the these are the people who want to run this country.
We need to ensure that these folks are not in charge when we wake up on the 8th.

Above The Law: Starring Martin O’Malley
Nov 3, 2006 Political
The tide in Maryland politics changed four years ago when Robert Ehrlich was elected as Governor. This is the first time in decades that a Republican has won that office and Ehrlich has been a breath of fresh air in a state where the air has been stagnant with Democratic ineptitude. This year it is a tough election even though Ehrlich has wiped out a budget deficit left to him by the Democrats. We are in the black for the first time in years and it is all because of Ehrlich’s leadership and good old fashioned Conservatism. His challenger, Baltimore City Mayor Martin O’Malley, has a lot of support from the heavily Democratic population but his once double digit lead has eroded into a statistical dead heat.
A recent email from the MD GOP asks the question, “What part of illegal does he not understand?” This question is posed because Martin O’Malley is in favor of having Maryland taxpayers foot the bill for ILLEGAL immigrants in the form of tuition. O’Malley thinks it is perfectly OK for Maryland families to pay $50,000 for this service to people who are not entitled to it. Martin O’Malley also supports allowing ILLEGALS to get driver’s licenses. One of the 9/11 hijackers had a Maryland license thanks to liberal laws that O’Malley and the Democrats in Annapolis support. Martin O’Malley could be responsible for providing the next terrorist attacker with the means to kill Americans and he thinks it is perfectly OK.
What part of ILLEGAL does he not understand indeed? O’Malley is embroiled in a bit of a scandal regarding a DUI he was charged with about 20 years ago. Now I personally do not care that he had a DUI charge 20 years ago. If we stopped people from holding office because of these kinds of things there would be no one to hold office. It would mean no Kennedy would ever be in office again (perhaps I need to rethink this). Of course, Democrats who tried to trump up the same charge on George Bush defend O’Malley. At least Ehrlich is consistent because he stated that he did not think the 20 year old charge was relevant to today and I am sure he felt that way about Bush. The problem O’Malley has is that he might not have put the arrest on his application to the Maryland Bar. He was found not guilty and even if he was guilty it should not keep him from office but, the Bar is pretty specific that it needs to be reported. When asked, O’Malley said that he did not know if he included it. He refuses to release the application and I can’t blame him because it contains a lot of information that is no one’s business. If he releases part of it then they will say he is hiding something. O’Malley could have just said he included it and no one would know, except the Bar might be looking into it. Since he has been so evasive one can only conclude that he failed to report this item.
Martin O’Malley is not good for this state. We need a real leader and we currently have one. A mark of a good leader is the way he develops subordinates. Ehrlich’s LT Governor, Michael Steele, is running for the US Senate seat vacated by the retiring Paul Sarbanes and is a few points behind his challenger Ben Cardin. Steele will win this election and it will mark a changing of the guard in Maryland. O’Malley’s leadership has resulted in seven Baltimore City Police Commissioners in seven years and has earned Baltimore the distinction of being the most dangerous city in America. Does Maryland really need the kind of leadership that O’Malley brings to the table? Of course not and Marylanders are smart enough to know that Robert Ehrlich is the best choice to lead this state.
Here is the text of the MD GOP email:
What part of illegal does he not understand?
Martin O’Malley believes Maryland’s working families should pay $50,000 to subsidize college tuition for each illegal immigrant who applies for it. It’s yet another example of his rewarding illegal behavior, increasing taxes on working families and making it harder for working people to get ahead.
Martin O’Malley’s policies on illegal immigrants are not only misguided – they’re outright dangerous.
9/11 was a tragic day in our nation’s history. None of us welcomed it. None of us wish it again. Laws we shape have consequences. The 9/11 hijackers’ were helped by loose Maryland laws that reward illegal immigrants and enabled one of the terrorists to get a Maryland drivers’ licenses.
Our laws should protect us. They should be respected. America is a nation of laws. There is a right way to enter this country. If you do it the wrong way, you should be held accountable — not rewarded with privileges like driver’s licenses, subsidized in-state tuition and other special benefits.
Martin O’Malley supports giving illegal immigrants driver’s licenses and wants you to pay $50,000 for each illegal immigrant’s college tuition.
We should be making it harder for illegal immigrants and terrorists to obtain U.S. identification. But Martin O’Malley doesn’t think so.
Drivers Licenses for Illegal Immigrants.
Martin O’Malley supports rewarding illegal immigrants with drivers’ licenses. (Montgomery Gazette, 2006 Voters Guide)Weakening Immigration Laws.
Martin O’Malley lobbied Congress to kill legislation that would strengthen federal-state cooperation in enforcing U.S. immigration laws. (Baltimore Sun, 11/28/03)Martin O’Malley begged the federal government for more security funding, but then hypocritically worked against more funding for law enforcement of illegal immigration violations. (Baltimore Sun, 2/3/2003)
What part of illegal does he not understand?
Typical of all liberals, O’Malley thinks laws are a nuisance and should be ignored. National security and the security of our state require us to reject him on November 7th.

With Bad Economy, More People Working
Nov 3, 2006 Political
The Democratic campaign ads contain it. The talking points contain it and the promises from Democrats, should they take power, contain it. The it are references to a bad economy. We are bombarded with news that this is a bad economy, we are in a terrible way and that Bush has led us to economic disaster. I have to give credit to the donks, they can tell a lie in the face of irrefutable evidence and keep a straight face.
The Stock Market is strong and above 12,000 and people are spending more money. The tax cuts have stimulated the economy and the treasury is taking in record amounts of money in tax revenue. Oil companies are posting 1 billion dollar profits which means they are paying 40 or 50 billion dollars in taxes. An now, the economy is so poor that more people are working. That is right, the unemployment figures for October show unemployment at a five and a half year low. This means more people are working and paying taxes into the government while fewer are receiving pay outs from the government.
The unemployment rate fell in October to 4.4 percent from 4.6 percent in September. It was the lowest jobless rate since 4.3 percent in May 2001. al-Reuters
Damn that George Bush and the Republican Party! They keep screwing up the economy, just ask the Democrats.
