Obama and Hijacked Christianity
Jun 24, 2007 Political
B. Hussein Obama was at a church convention where he said that the Christian right was responsible for hijacking religion and causing a divide among people.
“Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked,” the Democratic presidential candidate said in remarks prepared for delivery before the national meeting of the United Church of Christ.
“Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us,” the Illinois senator said.
“At every opportunity, they’ve told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage, school prayer and intelligent design,” according to an advance copy of his speech. Breitbart
It should be noted that Obama belongs to a very liberal branch of the Protestant Church that allows gay clergy and supports same sex marriage. It is his right to belong to that Church and I am not surprised that a liberal would belong to a church that made it easy to worship according to his liberal values. What I want to know is how the Christian Right has hijacked anything. The liberal churches like Obama’s are straying from beliefs and teachings that have been around for thousands of years and yet, those who are teaching the same values year after year are the hijackers.
I see this as a method to divide the electorate and to insult traditional Christian values in hopes of making people feel guilty for their beliefs. It is similar to the race card. Vote for Obama because he is black and you are guilty of slavery and racism. A vote for him will cleanse your sins and relieve you of the guilt of racism. Vote against him and you are the racist we know you to be. In religion he is saying that if you espouse traditional values and not the more liberal ones his church believes in then you are a bigot and dividing the country. Vote for Obama and show that you are not some radical right wing Christian.
Could someone explain to me how it is that the Conservative Christian base is the bad guy? We believe in the sanctity of life and that abortion is murder. We believe that homosexuality is a sin (hate the sin, not the sinner) and we believe in living by a set of rules called the Ten Commandments that have been the law of God since Moses brought them down from the mountain. Following the traditional (or Christian Right as liberals call it) values of Christianity allows people to live in peace and live generally good lives.
Sure, there are Christians who sin and don’t always follow the rules but when they repent those sins are forgiven. Obama and people like him want you to believe that the Christian Right is what is wrong with America when in fact it is adherence to liberal positions and “values” that has divided this country and caused strife. If the liberal values of Christianity that Obama lives by are the way to go why do most churches shun those beliefs and stick to traditional values?
By attacking the Christian Right and those who hold traditional Christian values, Obama is the one who is dividing people along religious lines. The shame of it is that he is attacking certain Christians for political expediency and for no other reason. I wonder if he will stick to this belief should he win the primary? Attacking the Christian Right in the general election race might be a recipe for disaster.
I wonder why Obama felt it was necessary to attack a segment of the Christian religion? Perhaps it was the Muslim blood running through his veins that made him do it. That might explain why he did not indicate that the beliefs of Muslims and their desire to take over the world are much more damaging then the beliefs of people who follow traditional teachings. Muslims hijacked more than religion when they killed 3000 of our citizens in the name of their faith.
I guess when a politician is 12 points behind an opponent who is Godless, he feels the need to inject religion into the debate.
When members of the Christian Right strap on bomb vests and blow up innocent people or fly planes into buildings, Obama can have his say. Until then he should stick to politics and leave religion to religious leaders.

Diplomat Pelosi Still Does Not Get It
Jun 22, 2007 Political
When Nancy Pelosi went to Syria she probably violated the Logan Act by interfering in negotiations with another country. Diplomatic negotiations are part of the Executive Branch function and not that of the Legislative. In addition to playing Diplomat, a message she gave to Syria from Israel was not conveyed properly and left Israel denying what Pelosi said.
Republicans are looking to stop this kind of foolishness by disallowing travel to states that are sponsors of terrorism. The Democrats do not like this and a spokesperson for Pelosi said:
“How can anyone take this amendment seriously, especially when it comes on the same day that Bush Administration officials are in North Korea? And why would anyone think it is responsible to restrict the ability of the Speaker of the House to bring the concerns of the American people to foreign leaders? It is part of the Speaker’s job,†said spokesman Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Pelosi. “This amendment is a cheap political stunt that just won’t fly.†The Hill
What they fail to understand is that representatives of the Bush Administration (or any President’s Administration) are allowed to conduct these kinds of meetings. once again, Diplomacy is an Executive Branch function and therefore the President or his representatives are authorized to participate in them.
Pelosi is a member of the Legislative Branch and does not belong playing Diplomat. Who is she trying to be, another Joe Wilson?

Is Birthday Party Next to Go for Bloomberg?
Jun 20, 2007 Political
New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg changed his political party affiliation from Republican to Independent yesterday in a move that surprised some and caused others to speculate he is posturing to enter the 2008 Presidential race as a third party candidate. Bloomberg was a Democrat and then changed to Republican (probably to win the Mayoral election after Giuliani’s terms) and now has become an Independent. I don’t know if he plans on running for the presidency but do we want a leader who can not make up his mind on something as simple as party affiliation. His party jumping would have to be the greatest example of political flip-flopping out there.
Bloomberg was only a Republican in name. His views are pretty liberal so this is no loss to the Republicans no matter how it ends up being spun. He just reminds me of a rich guy who wants things his way and if he does not like how things are going he will take his ball and go home.
In any event, I hope he enjoys his Independence and if he runs for the White House he will only waste his money. He will not win but might affect another candidate’s chances.

Remember, They Support the Troops
Jun 15, 2007 Political
The Democrats support the troops and how dare anyone suggest otherwise. Just because they are trying to bring them home in defeat and vote against money for their mission does not, in any way, indicate that they do not have the utmost respect for our men and women in uniform. They said they support them now leave it alone.
This does not apply to military officers, it would seem. Those who support the war and who are serving in high level positions are now coming under fire from the left. Military officers used to be left alone, they were confirmed for a post and served, then they moved on. They are not elected officials and they are professionals who know their jobs. Unfortunately, if they support their troops and their Commander in Chief, they are targets for the left.
General Pace will not be reconfirmed as Chairman Joint Chiefs because of political games. He did a fine job and served more honorably in the Marines than any bozo in Congress has ever served as an elected official. Here are a few indications of how the Democrats support the troops:
On Friday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates made the stunning announcement that he would not recommend Pace to serve a second two-year term as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Marine Corps four-star general had not been a target previously of Democrats’ ire on the war, but Gates said lawmakers made it clear the confirmation process would be ugly.
“It would be a backward looking and very contentious process,” Gates said at a Pentagon news conference. My Way News
~snip~
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “incompetent” during an interview Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers, a comment that was never reported.
Reid made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources familiar with the interview. The Politico
Looking at this who do we see in the mix? Ole cut and run, the war is lost, Harry Reid. Reid does not support the troops and all he cares about is his ability to appease the Democratic base. These are the people who want us out of Iraq and who have been beating up the Democrats for their inability to accomplish this. As Reid told them, the Democrats set the bar too high on this one. But that is not preventing Reid from blasting outstanding military officers in order to advance his political agenda of defeat.
It is amazing that we would have a guy like this in a leadership position, especially during a time of war. Harry Reid could not lead a group of people out of a burning building and I believe that stroke he had ruined the two brain cells he had in the peanut head of his.
Harry Reid is a disgrace to this country and I would love to see him and General Pace in a fist fight. Reid is from Nevada, I have $1000 says Pace would beat him like a drum.

More Cut and Run from Reid and Pelosi
Jun 13, 2007 Military, Political
It was not bad enough that Harry Reid announced to the world that we lost the war in Iraq when that is not true and while we have men and women in harm’s way but now he and Nancy Pelosi have sent a letter to President Bush telling him that the troop surge has been a failure and that they intend to introduce legislation to withdraw our troops. This will be vetoed by the President and once again the Democrats will have wasted time trying to usurp the President’s authority. The gruesome twosome point to increased violence and more US deaths as the indication of failure. I thought they were supposed to wait for the report from the Commander of the troops due out in September before they took any decisions. As usual, the Democrats had to cut and run early at the first signs of perceived troubles. Perhaps it would be prudent for them to wait for the report from the guy who is actually on the ground watching what is happening rather then sitting in an office ingesting the spun tripe provided by the MSM.
I imagine that Reid and Pelosi had to do this again because of all the grief they received after the last bill but I also believe they have to try and show that Harry was wrong when he said that the Democrats had set the bar too high with regard to Iraq. In that statement he told America that Democrats do not understand the situation and that it is much more complex than the Democrats imagined. This statement is an admission that they either lied or were not up to the leadership challenges presented. They made claims that they could not follow through on and now they are blaming it on the slim majority they have. They can not override a veto so they blame it on everything except their inherent inability to lead and their inborn cowardice.
What is it with these idiots anyway? Most Americans want out but want us to win and yet the donks insist on a course of action that will render us a loss. Most Americans do not want this immigration amnesty bill they are forcing upon us and yet they keep insisting that this is the right thing. Are the Democrats so out of touch with the average citizen that they have lost all perception of reality? More likely their blind ambition, stupidity, and insatiable quest for power has consumed them so greatly that they are incapable of common sense or rational thought.
I propose my own bill with regard to the Iraq war. This bill is Democrat friendly and they can sign on because they are so sure they know what they are doing. The US will set a date for withdraw of our fighting forces and will leave NO ONE in that country. Not police, not logistics, not anything, just as the donks want it. If after that date violence among the sects breaks out, or there is a civil war, or if the Middle East is further destabilized then every Democrat in Congress will immediately resign and forfeit all claims to retirement or other monies from the government. If the US is attacked by terrorists after this date, every member who voted for the bill will be executed as a traitor for aiding and abetting the enemy. Very simple wording and a good lawyer can work it up so there is no wiggle room, no way out.
Now, if the Democrats are so sure they know what is best then they will sign on immediately. If they really have the courage of their convictions they will sign the bill and get our troops home just like they promised their drones. If they will not sign on to it then they lose the right to debate the issue further and must allow us to go in without strict rules of engagement and wipe out the bad guys including those from Syria, Iran and any other little kitty litter box country in the region.
What say you Democrats? Do you have the courage of your convictions? You are pretty mouthy and loose with words when they affect the safety and well being of our troops but are you willing to put a plan in place that places you in jeopardy?
Want to bet none of them has the courage?
