From Cold Hard Cash To Cold Hard Time
Jun 4, 2007 Political
When the Republicans were in the majority in the House they instituted a rule that any member indicted would have to resign from any leadership position. When Tom Delay was indicted he resigned as the House Majority Leader* to comply with that rule. Democrats were very happy to see him go because he was a tough leader and he led with an iron fist. That is the reason a Democrat in Texas convened Grand Jury after Grand Jury until he browbeat one into indicting Delay on charges that were bogus and to this day have not been pursued further. That of course, is because the left got rid of him and that was their end game. They trumpeted the Republican Culture of Corruption mantra so often that the sheeple among us actually believe the Democrats walk on water and do not get their feet wet.
I have often stated that corruption runs across both aisles and is not specific to one party or the other. I believe in term limits (an area in which Delay and I disagree) and believe they would keep this from happening. When was the last time we read about a relatively new member of Congress being involved in corruption? Most of the ones involved have been there for years and have allowed their power to corrupt them (…corrupts absolutely). In any event, Harry Reid has been involved in ethical issues and potentially illegal activities, Dianne Feinstein has used her position to push billion of dollars worth of contracts to her husband’s business, Nancy Pelosi exempts constituents from legislation that affects the rest of us, Jack Murtha was caught trying to take a bribe, and Ted Kennedy killed a woman and it was dismissed. The reason there is only a culture of corruption on the Republican side is because the Democrats and their minions in the media look at everything a Republican does wrong as a death penalty offense and ignores those indiscretions from the left. I am not dismissing any wrong doing because I am glad Ney and Cunningham are in prison and that Foley resigned. I expect all members of Congress to act ethically and if they do not I expect them to be punished.
Today, Representative William Jefferson, Democrat Louisiana, was indicted on bribery, racketeering, and money laundering. He is a criminal and has been for quite some time. The feds have been investigating him and while people were fighting to stay alive during Hurricane Katrina, he was busy removing $90,000 from his freezer**, money that was paid by the FBI in their sting and matched up to their serial numbers. Sounds pretty convincing and it is time for everyone to just proclaim that he is guilty. That is the standard laid down by Democrats and it is one they should be forced to live by. I understand due process but considering how the Kos kids and the rest of the left wing zealots, including all the Democrats in Congress, treated Delay and talk about him to this day, despite there never having been a trial, it is only fair to apply these judicial methods of “fairness” to Dollar Bill Jefferson.
Since Jefferson is a Democrat I would expect that he would get a letter of commendation and elevated to a higher position but that will not quite happen because House Minority Leader John Boehner, a Republican from Ohio, is pushing to have Jefferson expelled from Congress. Boehner is forcing the Democrats to live up to all their ethical talk during the last election. Democrats will be forced to choose between looking out for this guy and looking good on their word about having the most ethical Congress in history (they can thank Pelosi for that one). If the Democrats save this guy, as they did Jack Murtha recently, they will be exposed for the hypocrites that they are. This will not be easy because the Congressional Black Caucus, the NAACP, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and any other black advocate or advocacy group will come out of the woodwork to defend this guy and scream racism. There will be claims that his rights were violated when the FBI searched his office, not true. The Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause protects members from prosecution and searches of their work in connection with their official duties per their elected office. The Supreme Court has ruled in previous cases that criminal activity is not a regular duty (though many would argue business as usual) of a member of Congress and therefore not protected (however, if that isn’t good enough for the naysayers, I am a taxpayer and that room is paid for with taxes so I authorize the search). That will not stop the charges of racism, it will not keep the Democrats from attempting to delay or kill Boehner’s motion but as I stated, Jefferson meets the Democrat’s standard for guilt as applied to Republicans. In all honesty, he more than meets it because he is as guilty as sin. The mountain of evidence will have him breaking rocks for a very long time.
The motion might come as early as Tuesday and I eagerly await the outcome so I can see how “ethical” the Democrats really are. I would also be interested in hearing what Hillary Rodham and B. Hussein Obama have to say. Even though they are in the Senate, I would be interested to hear what they have to say about their fellow Democrat. Of course, the only difference between Jefferson and Hillary is that she has not yet been caught (she hid her files better).
The culture of corruption is alive and well in DC and it sickens me to see it. We need to vote all of them out and replace them with young, fresh minds who want to do the work of the people and not that of the special interest groups. I would not even care about the make-up of the Congress if they could work together and solve some of the issues facing us without spending billions of dollars on foolish ventures.
Thank you William Jefferson for getting caught and thank you voters of his district in Louisiana for putting him back in office. It is much more damaging to the high and mighty Democrats this way.
The Politico has a link to the indictment along with the story about Boehner and Breitbart details the indictment.
*This was corrected. I mistakenly called Delay the Speaker of the House. This is what happens when long days are endured without coffee. Thanks to Gribbit for pointing this out. Hell Grib, I just read his book. You would think I would have caught that mistake.
**To clarify, the news reports he had the money in his DC residence and it was removed by the FBI executing a search warrant. Other sources say it was in his LA home. The indictment leads me to believe it was in DC.

Bill Clinton’s Black Magic
Jun 3, 2007 Political
If anyone needs any evidence that the end of the World is around the corner one only needs to look as far as the people who swarm Bill Clinton as if he is a messiah and who praise the work he claims to have done as president. One only needs to know real history and not Clinton revisionism to understand that a whole generation of people are clueless and do not know what the truth is.
Bill Clinton was out pandering for votes for his wife’s presidential bid and of course he had to go to the Rainbow/PUSH coalition headed by the race baiting poverty pimp Jesse Jackson. It is obvious that B. Hussein Obama poses a greater threat to Hillary Rodham than she predicted and since his positives are much higher than hers, Billy is our pandering to blacks. It seems to have some affect because black voters say they can not decide between Ms. Rodham on Obama.
As is typical Clinton, he rewrote history and he managed to distort the truth in order to help Ms. Rodham and in order to woo the black voters. As is the case with those in the race baiting business and those on the left, class warfare was out in full force as Clinton told the crown how he worked for two decades to end the disparity but that under Bush the rich get richer and those at or below poverty lose ground. This is patently untrue and Clinton is lying to people who have it better now than they did 30 years ago. He and Jackson, both very wealthy men, are acting like Bush made them rich while trampling on those poor folks in the audience.
I guess what we need to do is look at what constitutes poverty in America. The following is from the Heritage Foundation and it describes people who live in poverty in America. It is from 2004 and the economy has gotten better since then:
The following are facts about persons defined as “poor” by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports:
- Forty-six percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.
- Seventy-six percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.
- Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.
- The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)
- Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 30 percent own two or more cars.
- Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.
- Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.
- Seventy-three percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a third have an automatic dishwasher.
The piece goes on to describe how those in poverty in America are far from undernourished and while some families report going hungry in the past year, that is temporary and they eat and have access to food. As an aside, obesity is the number one problem among the poor in America. Only in this country can those who are poor be eating too much.
Clinton is just dead wrong and this demonstrates for the zillionth time that he will say anything to get him or his wife into office. He lies and does not comprehend how to tell the truth. He and his wife were bad for this country before and they will be even worse for it in the future.
I will also add that it is Hillary Rodham’s fault New York was hit on 9/11. So long as people can believe that Bush is to blame for 9/11 Hillary can be to blame for them attacking New York.
Clinton and Rodham are a greatly deceptive team who will ruin America even further if put back in the White House. I am not an Obama fan but he would be a better choice than Rodham.
Too bad the black community has trouble learning from experience. How many times do they have to be screwed by Democrats and lied to by the Clinton team before they catch on. Oh well, you get what you deserve as many who voted for Martin O’Malley in Maryland are learning. Hope it does not get too hot for them this Summer.
Clinton and Rodham need to just fade away. Perhaps a loss will help with that.

Mr. President, I Will Tell You What Is Right for America
May 30, 2007 Immigration, Political
I have been a supporter of President Bush since he was nominated by the party over seven years ago. He was certainly a better choice than either of the Democrats running and I have generally agreed with his policies. I support the war on terror and the war in Iraq and I believe that we need to wipe out what people call Islamic extremism but what is really mainstream Islam. I have however, disagreed with him on several issues and the most important one is ILLEGAL immigration.
The President of the United States does not have a clue when it comes to immigration and securing our borders against an invasion from the south. President Bush, along with several Republicans, has sided with Ted Kennedy in supporting an amnesty bill that will ruin this country. I would have thought that these people in DC would have learned from the last two Kennedy sponsored amnesty bills that were touted as the end to ILLEGAL immigration but ended up giving us more ILLEGALS than before. They can deny that it is amnesty and point to sanctions but those sanctions will soon disappear and we will be left with millions of freeloaders who suck up resources and bring us down. One only needs to look at what they did to Mexico and what they have done to the towns they have taken over in the US to know that things will get worse, not better.

Arianna Huffington Has it Right About Hillary Rodham
May 30, 2007 Political
I do not often agree with Arianna Huffington. I can not remember really ever agreeing with her points of view but I respect her right to say what she wants and to believe what she wishes. I have to say though, that I agree with her assessment of Hillary Clinton as articulated in her most recent post. The post discusses the book Her Way and how the things discussed in the book are true. People can call this a rehash of old news but the book, according to Huffington, gives us insight into the mind of Hillary Rodham.
That little game of political chicken Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton played during the Senate vote on the Iraq spending bill Thursday night would not have surprised you if you had read Her Way, the new book by New York Times investigative reporters Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta, Jr. which I’ve just finished.
Neither Clinton nor Obama were on the Senate floor when the voting began. Sources tell me that Obama was holding off to see if Hillary would go first. When it was clear she wouldn’t, and time was running out on the vote, he headed into the chamber and voted no. Less than a minute later, Clinton barreled in and did the same.

9/11 Conspiracy Theory, Now This is Funny
May 29, 2007 Political
I found this at House of Eratosthenes. Morgan Freeberg found it at Flopping Aces. No matter where it originated it is just too funny to pass up. I believe this is how Rosie and all the others became convinced.
Hell, Rosie has changed her tune on this. First she said that both towers and building 7 were imploded and recently she said the towers were knocked down by planes (the same towers where steel would not melt) but that 7 was imploded by our evil government. We can get into that later but this comedy video explains more than meets the eye…
