Any Wonder Politico’s Readers Are Leaving?
Dec 22, 2011 Political
The number of readers who visit the website Politico has been decreasing and it is not hard to see why. The latest piece that the site has published is that Michelle Obama claimed she would like to come back as Bo the dog if there is such thing as reincarnation.
Obama claims the dog has a great life and therefore she would like to be that dog, or as Politico puts it, she has Bo envy.
I guess flying all over the world at taxpayer expense, living in a taxpayer provided house, and eating fine foods (while telling the rest of us what to eat) and having armed guards to protect her in a dangerous world is not enough for Michelle. She would like to be a dog.
Well, at least then Barack could keep her on a short leash.
As for Politico, couldn’t they find something newsworthy to report?
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Politico Misrepresents Ron Paul Statement
Dec 24, 2007 Political
Maybe it is the political season that forces writers to inflate headlines in order to get readers and maybe it is just a desire to get them to click on the link. In the case of Matt Drudge it is neither because he generally misrepresents the character of a story in order to get people to click on the link. The Politico (more specifically, Daniel Riley of The Politico), on the other hand, usually has an accurate depiction so I was a bit surprised to see a headline that read “Ron Paul won’t rule out a third party run.”
Ron Paul has made it clear a number of times that he does not intend to run as a third party candidate and he did so again on Meet the Press. Ron Paul, when asked about running as a third party candidate, stated that he was 99.9% sure that would not happen. I imagine that in the overall scheme of things that 0.1% technically means he will not rule it out but since it is such a little number perhaps a more accurate headline would have been; “Ron Paul unlikely to run as third party candidate.”
I know politicians like to engage in double talk and to say all the things that everyone wants to hear. Hillary did that with her sandbagging in New York and her run for the presidency. She told people she was not thinking about it and she was only concerned about winning the Senate seat. She would never say that she would serve her term if elected which means she was, in fact, thinking about it. Ron Paul, on the other hand, has been pretty straight forward and I think he will probably not run as a third party candidate.
Anything is possible though and I am sure if enough Ron Paul supporters pressed him he might just go for it. However, until that time, a 0.1% chance makes it an unlikely event and it should be reported that way.

Hillary’s Writers Go On Strike
Nov 28, 2007 Political
The DNC has canceled the the last of its fall debates because of a pending writer’s strike at CBS. The Writers Guild and the network have been without a strike for about two years so the union decided that this would be a good time to disrupt things. Queen Hillary had already indicated that she would not cross the picket line and the DNC, beholden to the unions to supply votes and thugs for events, decided not to show some courage and decide that they should not allow the union to disrupt things.
However, this is a good thing for Hillary Clinton since she has been dropping in the polls and did not need another melt down so close to the primaries. She would melt down because the writers would not be there to write for her and CBS might pick someone who did not have a planted question to ask.
Lost in all this is the effect on poor Katie Couric who was set to moderate this debate. I know she was just looking for an opportunity to bat her eyes at Clinton in admiration and then ask questions that would make Wolf Blitzer look like Stalin.

Edwards Hears Boos at Mellencamp Concert
Nov 11, 2007 Political
John Edwards was booed at a John Mellencamp concert after the singer paused the show to allow Edwards to come up and speak. He said a few cheesy words and there were tons of boos. Edwards made short work of the interruption and walked to a darkened corner of the stage and stayed there until the show started back up.
What a dolt. Haven’t these politicians and activist singers figured out yet that people, regardless of which political party the belong to, do not want to pay to hear the music at a concert and get an earful of politics. Politicians should pay people to listen to them, not the other way around.
Of course, given the size of John Edwards’ home, maybe he thought the song “Small Town” was about his residence.
