Obama Addresses Race Issue
Sep 21, 2009 Political
Obama taped his appearance on Letterman’s show and he addressed the claims that opposition to him is based on racism. I actually agree with what he said and it made sense. Of course, no matter what he might really believe (and I am not doubting what he said is how he feels) he would pretty much have to say what he did. This is how the exchange, which people who are desperate enough to watch Letterman can see tonight, was described at the CBS website:
Addressing suggestions that recent criticism of his health care reform efforts has been grounded in racism, President Obama this afternoon quipped, “I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election.”
The comment, which the president made in an afternoon taping of CBS’ “The Late Show,” promoted laughter from the audenice and this response from host David Letterman: “How long have you been a black man?”
Mr. Obama said the notion that racism is playing a role in the criticism, which has been voiced by former President Jimmy Carter and others, is countered in part by the fact that he was elected in the first place – which, he said, “tells you a lot about where the country’s at.”
Yes, Obama was black before the election (well, half black) and he is black now. Unless he wants to pull a Michael Jackson there is nothing he can do to change that nor should he want or need to. The color of a person should not matter one bit when it comes to any aspect of life. It is a shame that it matters to some people but the fact is, it should not.
However, one thing Obama was before the election is more moderate. He opposed items that Hillary, and later McCain proposed saying that he would bring a new day to DC. He promised transparency and gave the appearance that he was pretty moderate. Once he got into office his far left, radical beliefs came out. Sure, he slipped up with Joe the Plumber but his surrogates quickly violated Joe’s privacy and broke the law in order to attempt to destroy the man.
As an aside, this is one of the reasons Breitbart decided to release the ACORN videos a little at a time. He had a plan to get the information out first before getting into who made the discovery. He wanted to avoid having the people who made the videos destroyed by Obama’s lackeys. He successfully made ACORN the story and made it nearly impossible for the MSM to go after the young film makers.
Anyway, Obama has moved farther left since he was elected. He played the left of center moderate, cool, even tempered guy who would take all opinions into consideration. Now he is working on his agenda, not listening to reasonable alternatives, is not displaying transparency, and is paying back his supporters just as politicians have done for a long time. Whenever he has trouble we are reminded that Bush did it. Czars, why complain about Obama when Bush had czars (more if you believe the DNC)? Why? Because Obama said that he was all about change. You can’t say you are all about change and then justify what you do by saying the other guy did it.
That is not change.
Obama took the time to tell Letterman that he did not believe the opposition was based on racism which runs counter to what the racist Jimmy Carter had to say. It is good that Obama would acknowledge that it is not about racism because that clearly demonstrates that is about opposing his policies and what he wants to do. It is about opposing the guy who is doing the opposite of what he said when campaigning. It is about opposing a guy who disagreed with Hillary and McCain but now wants to use what they proposed.
It is about opposing the radical make over of our country. No matter what the liberals think, they can now drop the whole racist bit because it is not working and your boss does not believe it.
Yes, Obama is a different guy than he was when he campaigned and his very appearance on Letterman shows that. Obama boycotted Imus and said he would never again appear on that show because of Imus’ comment about a women’s basketball team. Obama could not go on a show of a person who demeaned women like that. He had daughters to worry about and could not go on a show of a guy who would treat someone’s daughter like that.
He is on Letterman and Letterman demeaned Sarah Palin and her daughter. Palin is a politician and she is fair game though the “slutty flight attendant” remark is demeaning to women. The real kicker is that Letterman demeaned a person’s daughter who happens to be a minor.
Why is it Obama could not go on Imus but can appear on Letterman?
Do different standards apply if it is the daughter of a Conservative rival? One would think a man of integrity would apply the same standards no matter what.
Obama was black before the election. He was also a shrewd, insider politician brought up in the thug Chicago way and schooled in the art of Alinsky (his deception to get into office is right out of that playbook).
Looks like that has not changed either.

Race, Rudeness, and a Whiny President
Sep 21, 2009 Political
The Resident took to the airwaves cable, and satellite channels- all except Fox News (allegedly because they were “whiny”)- hell, he even went on Univision, and I was not aware that Nobama spoke spanish- that is probably from his days as a community rabble rouser activist organizer. What a talented man he must feel that he is.
This guy, who was supposed to be our first post- racial president, just loves to have his proxy posse call out any critic of his policies as a racist. They think that is a conversation killer- and mention of racism immediately trumps logic.
It is their secret safe word.
There are so many words that are “off limits” now- so many jokes you cannot tell, just in case there might be someone there who might actually be offended, oh my goodness. Rudeness, it seems, according to the President’s handlers, comes only from one place- the right- really? Because I seem to remember some truly outrageous rudeness on the left when George Bush was in office, but now that the Man in Black is in the White House, the rules of the game need to be changed- it is not that his skin is a different color, ( a fact the left seems to dwell on more than the right, quizzically), but that his skin is quite thin.
The president of the United States used the Sunday morning talk shows to broadly scold the news media for playing up what he called “rude” and “outrageous” political comments, and urge the 24-hour news networks to consider giving more of a platform to those who demonstrate decency and civility.
Obama blanketed the airwaves Sunday, appearing on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and the Hispanic network Univision in a bid to promote his health care plan. But he also very deliberately used the unprecedented media blitz to chide those journalists who cover him, delivering a similar lecture on every network except Univision about the importance of changing the way media prioritize stories.
“The easiest way to get on television right now is to be really rude. If you’re just being sensible and giving people the benefit of the doubt, and you’re making your arguments, you don’t get time on the nightly news,” Obama said on ABC’s “This Week.”
foxnews.com
Is it rude to ask questions in a manner designed to elicit a direct and honest answer, and to keep asking these questions when a person evades, or refuses to answer those questions? Because if it is, bring on the rude- we have some questions we would like you to actually answer without all the bloviating you normally do, Mr. Resident.
The easiest way to get 15 minutes on the news or your 15 minutes of fame is to be rude. … That’s something that I think needs to change,” Obama said, lamenting the habit of “plucking out a sentence here or a comment there.”
The president was evidently agitated by the coverage the media have given to stories that sprouted as a result of Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouting, “You lie,” at Obama during his health care address to a joint session of Congress more than a week ago. Coverage of the outburst seemed to overshadow coverage of Obama’s health care plan itself, and later evolved into coverage of racial controversy after several prominent Democrats, including former President Jimmy Carter, claimed critics like Wilson were racially motivated.
“The media loves to have a conversation about race,” Obama noted on NBC. “This is catnip to the media because it is a running thread in American history that is very powerful and it evokes some very strong emotion.”
foxnews.com
Yes, racism is a very powerful theme- powerful enough that just being rudely direct in your line of questioning, or challenging the veracity of someone’s words is, apparently in some people’s minds, a form of racism.
These progressives are very twitchy people- like someone who has had too much electro- shock therapy, they have a permanent tic- one that shouts “Racism!” at every perceived slam against this administration. Racism is their default position, and that of every liberal, it seems- especially when they are getting pinched in an argument, their “racism” instincts kick in.
Even if it isn’t racism, but just rudeness.
House Republican Leader John Boehner, though, disputed Obama’s assertion that “rude” voices are dominating the debate.
“I don’t know that the tone of the debate has gotten out of control. It’s been spirited,” Boehner said on NBC. And he blamed Democrats for prolonging the controversy over Wilson and race, since Democratic leaders drew out the conflict with a vote on the House floor to formally admonish Wilson — even after he apologized to the White House.
foxnews.com
We have always had spirited debates in the past, every bit as passionate as the ones we are having now. Every bit as rude too- but what we have never had before is a Black president, and that has led to the liberal progressives bringing a new word to these debates- racism- that we have not had regarding a president, or even a vice president. The circumstances are unique, and so the reactions are blown way out of proportion. here is one possibly good thing coming out of all this shouting-
Racism, as a word, is losing all meaning and venom- it is becoming a caricature of a curse word, a knee jerk response word, a throwaway word.
I will leave you with the question if this is really, in the end, a truly good thing or not.
A part of me says yes, and a part of me says no.

The Last Refuge of Scoundrels & Democrats- Racism
Sep 16, 2009 Political
As the Resident increasingly loses control of his health care debacle, and after seeing the crowd in the Mall on last Saturday, probably losing control of his bowels as well, the rest of the progressives have stepped up their strident defense of this Socialist in Chief, all while he hides behind Axlerod and Emanuel.
First up at the plate- Maureen Dowd, the perpetual screecher who has made her career on the back of President Bush, with her patented “woman scorned” vituperation. She always sounded like Bush had told her she was too ugly to be anyone’s date.
On Joe Wilson’s outburst in the Halls of Congress during the Resident’s speech, she claimed that (out of thin air) she could hear in Wilson’s words the phrase, “You lie, Boy!”
Wow- although this is not the first time she has made up out of thin air lies and distortions (she has a delusional problem- she thinks she can write), the progressives have had a group hug and midnight memo moment, and decided that the best way to fight the conservatives is to shout charges of “Racism” whenever any issue is raised concerning the Resident.
The famous first Socialist in Chief, Jiminy Carter, has weighed in on the issue, even though he has had Old-timer’s Disease since the Hostage Crisis in ’79. It is his feeling that people are having a hard time with a Black man in the Presidency. Not so- we have a hard time seeing someone SO incompetent in the Presidency, and believe me- he IS incredibly incompetent– but you can view Carter’s comments here:
And of course, you can count on good old professional tax cheat Charlie Rangel weighing in on the racist angle, but then he is desperately trying to keep the Ethics committee off his butt for failing to file tax returns on approximately one million dollars he “forgot” about- really? Charlie, Charlie, Charlie- you write the tax code here– you are in charge of the committee that actually is supposed to understand the tax code, and you maintain you didn’t know? Oh, Please!
Now Congressman Hank Wilson, of Georgia, seems to think that white hoods will be in vogue again- really? Rep. Wilson is black, and he does live in Georgia, but not, apparently in the 21st century.
Making an obvious reference to the Ku Klux Klan, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will be putting on “white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside” if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example.
Hours later, the House passed a resolution to formally admonish Wilson, who bellowed “You lie!” as President Obama delivered a health care reform address to a joint session of Congress last Wednesday. House Democratic leaders had decided days ago to move forward with the measure if Wilson did not apologize on the House floor.
But although Wilson was widely condemned by colleagues on both sides of the aisle for breaching protocol, some went a step further and accused Wilson of being racially motivated.
“He did not help the cause of diversity and tolerance with his remarks — if I were a betting man I would say it instigated more racist sentiment,” Johnson said Tuesday. “And so I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside intimidating people. … That’s the logical conclusion if this kind of attitude is not rebuked, and Congressman Wilson represents it. He’s the face of it.”
foxnews.com
Martin Luther King surely must be rolling in his grave so hard seismic indicators can pick up his movement- one would think that we had gotten beyond name- calling, but the memo went out, ” On the count of three, we will ALL shout “racism”- that will scare the conservative boogeyman,” when all we conservatives, independents, and increasingly, democrats who are uneasy at the trashing of our Constitution are doing, is assessing the content of the Resident’s character, and finding him to be incredibly lacking. Still, the attacks go on.
Johnson seemed to reference the protests held in Washington, D.C., on Saturday in making his claim. While many protesters were there to demonstrate against big government and federal over-spending, Johnson argued that a “fringe” element is motivated by race and that Wilson “winked” at that fringe with his behavior.
New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote in her column Sunday that Wilson’s outburst convinced her that racial angst is the underlying motive among Obama critics like Wilson.
“I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer … had much to do with race,” she wrote. “But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted ‘liar’ at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.”
Dowd wrote that Wilson “clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.”
foxnews.com
Oh please! Brainy president? Spare me the unquestioning slavish devotion here- brainy? Not hardly- and Mz. Dowd obviously was doing drugs when Rep. Stark, a Democrat, called President Bush a liar on the floor of the House twice- and got not even a mild rebuke- Which means that the standards of behavior vis a vis the two parties is waaaaaaaayyyyyy different- Conservatives are supposed to adhere to civilized standards, while the Democrats, and their moonbat “progressive” cohorts are seemingly permitted to act like spoiled children here.
Children who chant their new word ad nauseam because they know it drives the adults here crazy-
“Racist, racist, racist….”
That’s all they’ve got-

The Left Tries To Silence Dissent
Aug 14, 2009 Political
Yeah- I know- catchy title, huh? As if that would be earth-shaking news, but the hypocrisy continues to loom large as far as Liberals go. This time Van Jone’s little group Color of Change has been able to get advertisers to take their ads from Glenn Beck’s show, after Glenn Beck called The Resident a racist, which he is- we cannot sugar- coat this.
During the campaign, after touting himself as “the first post- racial” candidate, he raised the specter of racism, simply by referring to conservative attacks as saying “Well, you know they will say that I don’t look like those presidents on the dollar bill..” That’s right, hardly anyone I know wears a powdered wig anymore. Why did he bring that up?
Simply to insert the thought of racism into the debate, so then he could accuse conservatives of racism. That’s rather racist by deflection, but the Resident thinks he is clever. Yeah, he’s a legend in his own mind.
So Glenn was right, if indiscreet, but since Van Jones, as all libbies wish they were, is an avowed communist agitator, his response (with, I am sure, his highness’ blessing) is to demand companies remove advertising from the show.
The companies that have moved their ads elsewhere in recent days included ConAgra, Geico, Procter & Gamble and the insurance company Progressive. In a statement that echoed the comments of other companies, ConAgra said on Thursday that “we are firmly committed to diversity, and we would like to prevent the potential perception that advertising during this program was an endorsement of the viewpoints shared.”
The campaign against Mr. Beck is rooted in an advocacy group’s objection to the commentator’s remarks on July 28. Given the number of advertisers that have pledged to remove their spots, it appears to have been unusually successful.
nytimes.com
Yeah, right- considering the progressive nature of the CEOs of these organizations, it is a wonder that they advertised with this program in the first place. This will not hurt this program- indeed, this might just push this program into must- see territory for anyone who might see this administration as harmful.
“We have TV today that’s very polarizing and controversial,” said Donny Deutsch, the advertising executive and occasional host on CNBC and MSNBC, a rival to Fox News.
Last month, Mr. Deutsch listed some of the “Glenn Beck” advertisers and told MSNBC viewers that people who objected to Mr. Beck’s remark should write to the chief executives of the companies. In an interview, he said corporate decisions about where to allot ad dollars were the “ultimate check and balance.”
nytimes
How nice of Mr. Deutsch- considering the only people who watch MSNBC are those without the power to change the channel- you know, people in hospital lobbies, convicts, and those poor souls in mental institutions, where, as I understand it, MSNBC really rocks.
Other companies also said their spots had been scheduled during “Glenn Beck” by mistake. Ads for Procter & Gamble and S.C. Johnson appeared on a weekend repeat of Mr. Beck’s program by mistake, Fox acknowledged. Progressive said that its advertising order had specified “no Glenn Beck,” but Fox said it had bought a block of time with the channel that included Mr. Beck.
Past efforts to put pressure on cable news advertisers have met more resistance. In the spring, when the liberal group ThinkProgress protested Bill O’Reilly of Fox News by contacting corporate sponsors, most wrote back by blandly thanking them for taking the time to write. One Ford Motor employee even suggested they abandon the petition tactic, writing, “the silly form letters are just annoying and easy to delete.”
nytimes.com
Considering that George Soros is with Progressive insurance, and Warren Buffet is a major investor in Johnson & Johnson, there is really no surprise here. Neither is GEICO, whose acronym stands for Government Employee Insurance Company- go figure.
The really funny part of this is the left sees no hypocrisy in the ways they portrayed Bush for eight years, comparing him to Hitler, the Joker, and other distasteful images, but when you call the Resident what he is- well that’s just wrong. Bush said that these people mocking him had the right to do so- the Resident, through his little minions, tries to blacklist a media program. What a difference in civil liberties we have here.
I am truly sorry that the Resident has such a negative and insecure image of himself- one that he tried so hard to banish, by hanging out with the marxists, the militant blacks and others who would not make fun of his bi- racial heritage. I am sorry that it shames him, but I would ask one question here-
Which side of his heritage embarrasses him?
That answer could be truly telling.

Another Bad Week For Obama
Jul 28, 2009 Political
Barack Obama must wake up in cold sweats after discovering that his gift for gab can get him in as much trouble as Biden’s mouth often does. This past week Obama lost support of some folks because he weighed in on the issue of the arrest of his friend, Henry Gates. When asked a question about Gates’ arrest, Obama said the police “acted stupidly.”
A black officer who was with SGT Crowley, the officer who made the arrest, said that Crowley did his job and did nothing wrong. A black female cop who spoke, Ms. Kelly King, stated that she had supported Obama and voted for him but she will not vote for him again.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
This comes as Obama’s approval numbers take a downward spiral and his health care bill lingers in political lingo. Obama has enough Democrats to pass the bill on a straight party line vote but many are balking at voting for the monstrosity. This has forced Democrats to claim they need Republicans to pass the bill. In other words, they want Republican votes so they can blame them when the thing turns out as bad as expected. Republicans should not bite. If it is so good then the Democrats should have no trouble passing it without Republican support.
Adding to Obama’s problems is disclosure of an interview he did as a Senator. In the interview he bashed Bush for ramming legislation through without giving people time to read the bill. This should ring of hypocrisy given how Obama and his Democrats are doing that very thing with all the social engineering plans they are forcing through Congress at breakneck speed. Legislation that is NOT read by anyone in Congress. Even Obama admits he does not know what is in the health care bill.
The hits keep on coming for Obama and the Democrats. Senators Dodd and Conrad, who claimed they knew nothing about their sweetheart home loan deals, were exposed as liars when a witness testified that both of them were told and were well aware of the sweetheart deals they were getting.
Republicans have added to the misery by saying they will not vote for Judge Sotomayor, Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court.
Looks like Obama needs that expensive vacation he is planning.
Funny how the Dems were up in arms when Bush went on vacation.
A ranch is Crawford is for the non elites…
