Schumer Leaves Door Open For Trump Reversal On DACA
Jan 23, 2018 Political
Several weeks ago President Trump indicated that he would sign whatever immigration bill assisting the illegal children (young adults under DACA) Congress sends to him. He said they were to put it together and he would sign it. This caused a lot of angst among his supporters because it sounded like he had given away the store. The Democrats and the establishment Republicans could have put together a horrible bill and Trump, if he kept to his word, would sign it.
Democrats meanwhile, have been holding the budget hostage because of the DACA issue. The very Democrats who said they would never do such a thing when Republicans did it in 2013 (though Obamacare is a budget issue and DACA is not) and those very Democrats who were talking tough on immigration not so long ago (saying all the things they now say are horrible when Republicans say them) are trying to hold the budget hostage over DACA.
Chuck Schumer, the man whose face is what results when the foreskin is removed, has been allegedly negotiating on the budget but he tied DACA to any outcome. Chuck thinks it is his duty to make sure the illegal aliens covered under the unconstitutional Obama Executive Order are cared for and that their needs come above those of the American citizens. He figured the public would back him and his band of merry thieves should a shutdown occur.
On Friday an agreement could not be reached on the budget. More accurately, the continuing resolution. You see, the budget has been ready since September but there are no votes on it because people keep playing games. Since that is the case we have had about five CRs so far. If these cretins were required to vote on the budget AND ONLY the budget we could get that out of the way and then move on to other things like immigration reform.
Instead, Chuck Schumer held the budget hostage by pushing DACA into the equation. Schumer thinks he is in the majority because he basically said here are all the things we want and we will discuss what you want later. Republicans, obviously emboldened by Mr. Trump, stood their ground and said NO. They offered a number of things and then made the promise to vote on DACA as a clean bill. Democrats balked, nothing could be worked out and the government shut down. The Democrats tried calling this the Trump shutdown but their argument was negated when they claimed Trump had been silent during the past week. The Republicans were out in front and called it the #schumershutdown and that spread like wildfire.
Liberal pundits in the media wing of the Democrat party were showing old clips of Democrats (like Schumer) saying the opposite of what they are saying now and asked hard questions about why they shut down the government. Topping this off, Mr. Trump did not close parks and other areas that are open to the public (open space) like the petulant Obama did. People saw that Democrats were putting the needs of illegal aliens over the needs of American Citizens and they were not happy. It also stuck to Democrats that they placed illegals ahead of the men and women in our military.
I guess ole Schumer must have seen some polling that he did not like because he was running around like his ass was on fire and his head was catching to get a deal. He gave in to the original deal that he had declined not three days prior and a few other items (some Obamacare tax items) were thrown in to sweeten it for Republicans all for a promise to have the DACA issue wrapped up by February 8th. The government was shut down for three days. In reality it was a half of a regular workday by the time employees went to work to sign furlough papers and shut down their offices.
Schumer had even promised that he would put in 1.6 Billion Dollars toward the wall. His base went bat guano crazy and the illegals and their front groups were madder than all get out. Their trend of sell out Schumer must have hurt ole Chuck’s ego. He has since reneged on his promise of 1.6 billion dollars. He seems to think, as I stated, that he is in charge. What I see is a man who got his rear end handed to him as he got it from both sides and since he ended up so butt hurt he took his football and went home.
Here is what should happen going forward. The Turtle, Mitch McConnell, should exercise the nuclear option and bring up the budget for the entire year (working with the House of course) and force a vote on the budget. He can find whatever parliamentary tricks will allow him to do it with 51 votes. Once that is done he can Tell Schumer he promised (actually said he intended to) to have a vote on DACA so they can introduce legislation and have their vote after McConnell ensures his caucus will vote against it. Donald Trump, meantime, can threaten to veto any DACA immigration bill that comes to him and when Schumer complains about Trump changing his mind he can be reminded that he reneged on his 1.6 billion dollar pledge.
Schumer has left the door wide open for Donald Trump to veto or otherwise reject anything he wants.
We could actually have an immigration bill. It could find a way to re-vet the DACA folks here, get rid of those who are criminals (beyond the criminality of entering illegally), limit the program to only those who previously signed up, let them stay here on some special DACA card (has to be renewed every 3 years) but bar them from becoming citizens for 25 years, deny them any public welfare or other benefits and make them have continued monitoring so if they break the law they will be jailed and/or deported. Also add on to the bill that any other person found here who had not previously signed up for DACA will be deported. Tighten up our immigration laws to allow quicker deportation and mandatory use of e-verify and top that off with funding for the wall. One more provision that reduces the number of immigrants we will allow from other countries by the number of DACA vetted and issued guest cards each year until those on the roster are completely in the system and we have ourselves one fine bill.
Again, use whatever parliamentary procedures will allow them to pass it with 51 votes, make sure the House is on board and boom, we have immigration reform, funding for a wall and a muzzle on Democrats.
The question is, will Republicans get tough. They were pretty tough last week during the budget battle but will they really be tough? They need to meet with President Trump and develop a plan to run roughshod over the Democrats.
Lord knows Harry Reid was a low life weasel but he knew how to work the system to exact his will on the opposition. We need McConnell to read from that playbook…

GOP Senators Need To Go Nuclear As Well
Nov 25, 2013 Commentary
Only a few years ago Harry Reid, Barack Obama, and a host of other Democrats railed at the GOP proposal for the nuclear option. The so called nuclear option is designed to take away the filibuster and make it so only a simple majority is required for actions the Senate takes. In this case the issue was over judicial (except the Supreme Court) and presidential cabinet appointments and Democrats went nuts. The reason this came up was because Democrats were blocking the people George Bush wanted to appoint.
The Republicans eventually sat down and compromised with Democrats to avoid the nuclear option.
Joe Biden was one who screamed that he hoped to God when his party was in power it did not do what the Republicans wanted to do (exercise the nuclear option).
Well, the Democrats are in power in the Senate and last week they exercised the nuclear option. They grew tired of Republicans delaying and blocking the radicals Obama tried to appoint and those who he is trying to stack in the judiciary. Harry Reid and all the others (still serving) who lamented the end of the Republic when the GOP wanted to exercise the nuclear option gleefully voted for it. Barack Obama expressed his happiness that it was done even though he vehemently opposed it before.
Republicans in the Senate need to demonstrate testicular fortitude and exercise a nuclear option of their own. The Senate still requires unanimous consent for items to proceed and it requires 60 votes for cloture. Republicans should deny both. No matter what the issue is from immigration reform to naming a post office the Republicans should effectively shut down the Senate by refusing unanimous consent and it should ensure that there are never 60 votes for cloture.
The Republican leadership should tell Harry Reid that nothing else will get accomplished until the rules are changed back and any appointments made under the nuclear option are negated. The Republicans need to stand firm and ensure NOTHING takes place in the Senate. Without the Senate no bills can be passed and no budgets can be passed. Government will come to a halt until Reid gives in.
Eventually Reid will either capitulate or make the move to change the rules so that a simple majority is needed to get cloture or for bills to proceed.
If he changes the rules further then 2014 plays a big part of history. If the Republicans take the Senate back they will have free will to do a lot of things and if a Republican wins the White House in 2016 then Obamacare can be repealed by a simple majority vote.
Democrats took another step toward complete tyranny by exercising the nuclear option but Republicans can lob nukes of their own.
But only if they grow a spine.

Obamacare Is The Law
Sep 30, 2013 Commentary
This is the mantra we have heard from the left, a left that is employing all the Rules for Radicals in an effort to demonize people opposed to government intrusion into our lives. Liberals have called Tea Party members tea baggers, terrorists, radicals and anarchists in an effort to paint them as a fringe that must be ignored.
The true terrorists are the members of the government who impose things on us designed to take away or freedoms.
We have heard the left tell us that Obamacare is the law as if this means that it cannot be stopped or overturned. We have heard the brain damaged Harry Reid tell us that the opposition comes from people who can’t come to terms with the fact that Obamacare is the law and that the Supreme Court upheld it.
It is the law is NOT a valid reason to oppose an item or to work to have it changed. The left would have you believe that because this is the law that is the end of the story and nothing can or should be done to change it, period. We made a law and you have to follow it and since it is a law you have to follow it and it cannot be changed or revoked.
Really?
Slavery was once the law of the land. Separate but equal (Jim Crow laws) was once the law of the land.
These were all changed. The funny thing is that when people were working to change them Democrats acted as if they could not be changed because they were the law.
If we applied the same logic then that liberals like Reid are employing now then Obama would be a slave someplace or he would be required to eat at a different lunch counter.
These laws were all changed so for Reid to indicate that Obamacare is the law and that is that is disingenuous at best.
But let us look at something in the here and now.
Along with the Continuing Resolution the Congress must address the debt ceiling. The US has hit the statutory limit of how much it is allowed to spend. The claim is we will hit it in October but we already hit it and they are using gimmicks to keep us afloat.
BUT, the debt ceiling is a law. So, we can now tell Harry Reid and his sock puppets that the debt ceiling is the law and can’t be changed. We will be using their words against them and that will be a valid reason NOT to raise the limit.
If they want to claim that we can’t change something because it is the law then we need to hold firm on the debt ceiling because it is the law.
Ball is in your court Harry. I expect you will fetch it and take it to Obama while you sit at his feet but it is your ball nonetheless.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Limits On Spending Never Come
Nov 14, 2012 Political
Senate majority Leader Harry Reid has fired the opening salvo in the lame duck session regarding the fiscal cliff that we are rapidly approaching. His first declaration was that the election is a mandate to raise taxes on the rich. I beg to differ and counter that we basically have the same government we had prior to the election and that means the American public wants a divided and gridlocked government. If Americans did not want the gridlock that existed then it would have changed the makeup of Congress.
Reid has further declared that Social Security is solvent for the time being and that it will not be part of any budget negotiations. What Reid is saying is that he will kick the can down the road.
Social Security and Medicare are in trouble. The government has, for decades, collected huge sums of money from workers via the Social Security insurance tax. Over the years far more was collected than was needed to pay retirees because there were far more young workers. The government took that money and put it in the general budget and issued an IOU to the trust fund. We are now at a point where more is being paid out than is coming in but there is no way to compensate for that without borrowing money because the money paid in has long been spent.
AARP released a poll that it took of its members and a majority of those members 50 and older indicated they did not want Social Security and Medicare included as part of the budget negotiation process. They want their benefits that were promised.
This lines up with what I have long said. Social Security and other programs like it are designed to get people dependent on government. The people surveyed are demonstrating that they do not care about the debt or any of the country’s other money problems so long as they get their checks. They are beholden to the nanny state to survive and this axe can be held over their heads to get them to comply with what government wants and can be used to scare them into voting for certain politicians. It is a shame that the elderly, like those on welfare, are held as slaves to government. Keep doing what government wants, keep voting the way it wants, and you can have your soup.
AARP and its members can say they want to keep their benefits and Harry Reid can claim that all is well but it will not be long before the reality of insolvency sets in and Congress will run around like their heads are on fire and their asses are catching in order to raise taxes to pay for the shortfall. By that time the game will be over. Like any Ponzi scheme, there is always an end game where a lot of people get screwed. No matter what AARP members want when there is no money they will get nothing.
[note]As an aside, the death panels in Obamacare should help reduce the elderly population so that there is not as big a drain on SS and Medicare[/note]
Reid is also indicating that he is going into negotiations with the mindset that Congress will raise taxes on the rich. Reid said he feels that there is nothing wrong with asking the wealthy to pay a little more. His statement ignores the fact that the wealthy already pay most of the federal income taxes paid in this country. How much more is a fair share? How much of someone’s income is a fair amount to give? How much is fair when we know it will be wasted and that no matter how much they take it will not solve the debt problem?
The Democrat’s idea of bipartisan negotiations is that you have to agree with them and it is bipartisan. Disagree or work for something else and you are being an obstructionist.
For their part Republicans are indicating they are open to revenue increases (read increased taxes) as long as there are limits on spending. Those limits never come. Tax increases take place instantly and limits are delayed until they are deemed impractical and then never happen.
I think we should allow the Bush tax cuts to expire in their entirety. According to the Democrats they were only for the rich anyway so let them expire. As far as the other draconian measures that will cut many agencies and hurt contractors, well that is what they get for supporting Obama.
Pain is a great teacher and people need to feel that pain.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
Pulling Back the Curtains
Aug 15, 2012 Political
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain goes a famous line from the Wizard of Oz. This is the point where the weary group sees that the Wizard is just a man who promises a lot of things on which he really can’t deliver. The Democrats have a lot of people behind curtains and what goes on there is certainly hypocritical and usually criminal.
Take Barack Obama. He and his team are running around claiming that Paul Ryan will end Medicare, he will gut it, and he will hurt seniors, blah, blah. The reality is that there is only one candidate who has gutted Medicare and hurt seniors and that is Barack Obama. Obama cut over 700 BILLION dollars from Medicare in order to fund Obamacare. Yes, Obama took nearly three quarters of a TRILLION dollars from the medical program that benefits seniors and moved it to a Socialist program to enslave everyone to government.
Team Obama denies this and is making the claim that Obama did not cut Medicare but he did. Here is a link to a 2009 interview with Jake Tapper where Obama admits that one third of the funding of Obamacare comes from cuts to Medicare. Obama then goes on to say he will veto any bill that tries to undo those cuts. Not only did Obama admit to robbing seniors of the money paid into Medicare but he then doubled down and told them he would veto anything that tried to put the money back.
And yet the media and the followers of Obama continue to claim Ryan will gut Medicare. Paul Ryan has a plan that will save Medicare for those currently on it and improve upon the system for those who will enter it later on. It would be wise to pay attention because Democrats love to lie and they love to rewrite history.
Obama lied, seniors died.
Harry Reid is another POS on the left who loves to demand the curtain be pulled back for everyone else but refuses to step from behind his fortress of lies. Harry Reid is demanding that Mitt Romany release his tax returns for the past decade and has publicly stated that Romney did not pay taxes for all those years. Harry Reid said that Romney paid no taxes and by extension implied that it was because he did something wrong (there is no indication that Romney did not pay taxes). If you have nothing to hide why not release those returns, right?
Harry Reid was raised in poverty, had a few low paying jobs and has been in public service (and I use that word loosely) for nearly his entire adult life. He started with meager means and is now a millionaire. This article presents a pretty good timeline on how Reid made the money and there is no doubt that it was through underhanded and illegal means. I am firmly convinced that Harry Reid broke the law on more than one occasion in order to get wealthy. In a just world he would be in prison.
Reid will not release his tax returns so there is no way of knowing the exact source of his income or if he even paid his taxes. He has no problem attacking Romney but he is not in favor of people seeing how he became very wealthy by misusing his position.
Democrats hate when they are exposed but seem to love to expose everything about their opponents. They also like to expose our Nation’s secrets. The Obama White House has more leaks than a screen door and that does not sit well with those in the business of secrets.
Once again, the curtain is pulled back exposing our secrets thus making our nation less secure.
If Obama kept our Nation’s secrets as well as he hides his personal records (birth records, college transcripts, passport information, etc) then we would not have to worry about leaks and our nation would be more secure.
It is also true that if Obama worked as hard to create jobs for us as he is to keep his own we would not have the worst economy and jobs picture in eighty years.
Democrats are bad for this nation. They do not care for the country and our way of life (if you cared you would not want to fundamentally transform it) so they will do anything to destroy us.
Don’t be a sheep. Vote this November to save this great nation.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
