Misguided Priorities Of The Left
May 11, 2010 Political
The Democrat party in this country is misguided and has priorities that are backwards. Two simple examples to demonstrate the foolishness of the left. Call this a “teaching moment.”
The country is being invaded by illegal aliens and the federal government has not done a thing to stop the invasion. The federal government has an obligation under Article 4 Section 4 of the US Constitution to protect the states from invasion. The feds are failing miserably in that duty. The most that politicians from either party can come up with is some sort of amnesty program to reward those who broke the law to get here. The federal government has been so impotent that states have had to take matters into their own hands.
The state of Arizona, a state with around a half a million illegal aliens, recently passed a law allowing local police officers to, with strict guidelines, check the immigration status of anyone they believe to be in the state (and therefore the country) illegally. The liberals have gone nuts over this and Barack Obama and his regime are working on the matter. First Obama and his mouthpieces have denounced the law, talked about how stupid it is and then told us how it could be abused by police officers. These progressive morons want us to believe that the state of Arizona should scuttle its law because it might be abused.
As an aside, maybe we can repeal income taxes because Congress could abuse its authority to take them. Come to think of it, it has. We could use this reasoning on any law and it would make as little sense about those as it does with regard to this one.
Arizona had to act because the federal government would not. The politicians in DC are too busy trying to figure out how to appease illegals and make them part of a voting block to give Democrats a perpetual majority. Illegals are taking over this country because politicians are tweaking how to get votes.
But Big Dog, what is the misguided part of all this? Well, besides the stupidity at the federal level, here is where the Democrats are misguided.
The Attorney General, Eric Holder, has all the resources at his disposal looking at the Arizona law to see if it violates the Constitution (which means they are looking for ways to say that it does) and is looking for ways to negate the law. Yes, the federal government is considering suing Arizona.
The Democrats in this regime are so misguided that they will send people to harass the state and its government while ignoring the illegals who are breaking the law. Most people would say the Arizona law is a wake up call for the feds to get their act together. Not with this group. No way. They are too busy working to undermine the state. Think of it this way. The people of this regime are so misguided that if they send people to Arizona it will not be in the form of help to get the border under control, it will be in the form of lawyers who will sue the state.
The above example involves the state of Arizona and its unique situation. But how does this issue affect the rest of us and how is the government misguided in that regard?
Under the Arizona law, immigrants are required to have their papers with them at all times (this is also federal law) and to show them when asked to do so. The feds think this is profiling and racist and that it is unfair. You know, people of color will be singled out and we don’t do this to others.
Glad you asked. The health care takeover bill that Obama and the Democrats rammed down our throats requires people to prove they have health insurance. The IRS will be the enforcement agency and we will be required to indicate on our tax returns that we do have health insurance. In other words, the IRS will be asking us for our papers. Under the health care bill, in order to be a citizen in good standing in America, in order to be here legally, we must have health insurance. Without health insurance we will not be citizens in good standing.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the IRS will be demanding to see proof that we are here legally and they can do so without the same amount of reasonable suspicion required in Arizona. And since illegals don’t usually file income taxes they will not be asked for their proof. How dare the government profile the taxpayers like that.
The amazing thing is that the feds will go out of their way to protect immigrants from being asked for their papers but will require the rest of us to show ours.
This is another misguided effort on the part of Democrats. Come to think of it, maybe we should repeal this law because it might be abused…..
I hope this “teaching moment” was helpful in demonstrating how the Democrats have their priorities all wrong and how they would rather fight American citizens than go after illegals.
Never surrender, never submit.

Who Is Obama To Say How Much Money Is Enough?
Apr 30, 2010 Political
Obama was out campaigning for the Democrats’ Wall Street takeover legislation and had something very interesting to say:
“Now, what we’re doing, I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.” [emphasis mine] Real Clear Politics (video)
Who is Obama to say how much money is enough? If people work and are successful then they are entitled to whatever they can earn. Professional athletes make a fortune for playing kids games and they are entitled to whatever team owners are willing to pay them. Wall Street executives and all other workers in the private sector are entitled to whatever wages they can earn. It is not up to Obama to decide.
This is nothing more than a play to the base about greedy people, you know the people who earn money and pay taxes. Speaking of taxes, I think there comes a point where we have paid enough in taxes. Perhaps Obama can explain how he plans to tax the rich to death but begrudges them their earnings, earnings on which they pay a lot of taxes. They pay nearly all the taxes.
Obama made 5 million dollars last year. Is that too much?
Obama’s pal Oprah Winfrey makes many multiples of Obama’s millions. Is Obama ready to tell Oprah that she has made enough money?
It is not up to a politician to decide if people have made enough money. That is up to the individual earning the money. If people think they have not made enough then they are free to earn more.
This is the mindset we get when a Socialist occupies the White House.
Then again, this is a regime misrepresenting TEA Party activists and training the military to combat them.
Never surrender, never submit.

The World Of Liberal Lunacy And Other News

Voting linked to taxes…
Walter Williams has made a bold statement but it is something I have said for some time. He does a great job of explaining it:
I’m not proposing that we take voting rights away from those who do not pay taxes. What I’m suggesting is that every American gets one vote in every federal election, plus another vote for each $20,000 he pays in federal taxes. With such a system, there’d be a modicum of linkage between one’s financial stake in our country and his decision-making right. Of course, unequal voting power could be reduced by legislating lower taxes.
This is not a far-out idea. The founders worried about it. James Madison’s concern about class warfare between the rich and the poor led him to favor the House of Representatives being elected by the people at large and the Senate elected by property owners. He said, “It is nevertheless certain, that there are various ways in which the rich may oppress the poor; in which property may oppress liberty; and that the world is filled with examples. It is necessary that the poor should have a defense against the danger. On the other hand, the danger to the holders of property cannot be disguised, if they be undefended against a majority without property.” Jewish World Review
Makes perfectly good sense. If you have more skin in the game (or as Biden would put it, if you are more patriotic) then you should have more of a say in how things are run. It would force politicians to new ways of thinking. One way might be to lower taxes so we all only have one vote…
Obama and state run media incite black man to commit violence
A white supremacist was beaten to death by a black guy. How ironic is that? According to the article, the white guy kept to himself in his neighborhood and had protested different things but never amounted to much in the supremacist movement and the black guy was a criminal who served time in jail for assaulting a police officer.
The police found the supremacist, Richard Barrett, after he was stabbed and beaten to death and then set on fire. Police arrested a neighbor, Vincent McGee, (who had done work for Barrett) and charged him with the murder. Here is the interesting part:
[Sheriff Ron] Pennington did not disclose a motive but said neighbour (sic) Vincent McGee, 22, was charged with murder on Thursday and deputies charged three other people in the case on Friday. Daily Mail UK
I can tell you the motive, McGee is a racist and he was incited by the rhetoric of Barack Obama (if they bring a knife, you bring a gun) and the state run media. For some time now Obama and his state run media have told us that anyone who opposes them is a racist and that they are dangerous and could commit violent acts. After hearing all this rhetoric from Obama and the state run media, McGee decided that he needed to get the racist before the racist got him. This is a direct result of Obama and the state run media using inflammatory language and causing the fringe elements to go berserk.
And since it was a black guy killing a white guy it had to be racism. We all know that if this white supremacist had killed the black guy Clinton, Obama and the state run media would be talking about Beck, Limbaugh, and Palin inciting him to violence and how this is an act of racism.
Well, the truth must be the same when the roles are reversed.
What to do about violence?
Two lawmakers in Illinois want the governor to activate the National Guard and have them perform police duties because of all the crime and gun violence in Chicago. Officials are even more concerned that since warm weather is upon us the number of murders will increase. Seems that Chicago has more death and violence than an actual war zone and the police are unable to do anything about the violence.
It must be an election year because these bozos are trying to show their concern for the citizens. They are at wit’s end with the problem they created and now they want to activate a military force to handle it. Not a wise idea. Let the police handle it, let the politicians handle it but keep the military out. I would love to see the military go in to neighborhoods and wipe out gangs but that is not their job and they will be set up for failure. The minute they kill some thug in a shootout the same politicians who put them there will scream about what they did and then yell torture and Abu Ghraib and then blame it all on George Bush.
Besides, how credible is this information concerning violence? Chicago has one of the most stringent gun laws in the country so no one is using guns to kill people. They can’t be because they cannot buy guns, they cannot carry guns, and they have a hard time keeping guns in the home. The only people who can carry guns are politicians who tell the rest of us that they are not necessary and others who have greased the correct political palms. No one is buying guns elsewhere and bringing them in because there are laws against that as well. Laws always work because criminals have a lot of respect for the law and law enforcement. They would never consider buying guns illegally or carrying them illegally or importing them illegally because there are laws against that and liberals tell us that gun laws work.
Nope, Chicago has no gun crime and no murders by gun because guns are practically banned there. This must be some election year stunt to get the National Guard on all the streets to make people feel safer and have them believe that their government is there for them.
I wonder what would happen in Chicago if the state of Illinois allowed law abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms. They should probably give that a try since the way they are doing it seems not to be working. Seems to me it would be a lot cheaper than calling out the Guard.
Crime would go down fast.
One other thing they might consider and that is letting gangs have shootouts with each other. Put them all in an abandoned part of town and let them have gun battles with each other. If they are hell bent on killing each other then why stop it? We do not need them and putting them in jail does not seem to curb gang violence so just let them kill each other off.
Keep the people of Mississippi in your prayers
A number of people were killed and many more impacted by a tornado that touched down in the Yazoo County area. Keep these folks in your prayers.
Never surrender, never submit.

John Edwards Was Right
Apr 14, 2010 Political
We do live in two Americas.
He talked about the America of the haves and the have nots and the rich vs poor meme that the progressive left loves to use in its class warfare diatribes though he seemed oblivious to the fact that he was on the have side in a house that was nearly large enough to shelter half the homeless in New York City. He discussed this idea of two Americas and it seems he was right.
At least according to Phyllis Schlafly who has her own interpretation of the two Americas theme.
According to Ms. Schlafly we are divided into a two class society. Our two Americas in her two class society consist of those who pay for the services provided by the government and those who freeload. About 47% of people now pay no federal income tax and the bottom 40% of those get more back then they paid in through tax credits and other redistribution schemes in the tax code. In other words, the people who pay nothing get money from those who pay for government. Schlafly also notes:
Although all wage-earners help fund their own Social Security and Medicare benefits, only federal income taxpayers pay the costs of running the federal government, and are responsible for paying off our $12.8 trillion national debt and for bailing out Social Security, Medicare, and Fannie and Freddie when they collapse.
So true, so true. Those of us who pay the costs of running the government are also footing the bill for those who do not. To top it off we are sending them some of our money to help them get along. This is a massive redistribution of wealth scheme where the only difference between the recipients sticking a gun in our faces and taking the money and the current system is that the government handles the part of robbing us under threat of punishment by its mob enforcers in the IRS.
It is a nice and neat racket that rivals anything Tony Soprano could come up with. It is also quite convenient because the government gets to use the money it confiscates from taxpayers to bribe those who pay nothing for their votes.
I found this video at Ron Smith’s page at WBAL
Wouldn’t it be grand if we had a system where we stopped the forced redistribution of wealth? In the absence of that, wouldn’t it be nice if those who receive our money had to live by rules we established? Perhaps those getting this money from us could come wash our cars, mow our lawns and clean our houses. At least then we would feel like we got some value for the money we spent.
I would love to see us give up the income tax altogether and tax our consumption. A national sales tax (and not the VAT) would allow everyone to pay in or have skin in the game and it would tax all of us fairly because we would be taxed on what we consume (minus things that should not be taxed like food and shelter). If a person can afford the item then that person can afford the sales tax on the item.
In the absence of abolishing the income tax, we need to at least abolish the income tax system we have, give up on the idea of a VAT and go for a flat tax of 11-15%. Everyone would pay that amount on income so that all people would be paying for the running of OUR government. Maybe then it could really be of, by and for the people.
With any of these taxes we need to have a rule that they cannot be raised without a super majority in each chamber of Congress and that no rule or parliamentary trick can be used to circumvent the super majority requirement.
It is time we got everyone in the game. Joe Biden said that paying taxes was the patriotic thing to do. The 47% need to step up and be patriots like the rest of us.
Schlafly has it right and that is unfortunate because we can be so much better than that. But only when people start fending for themselves and stop living off the government which really means living off the rest of us.

Brevity Is The Soul Of Wit
Apr 5, 2010 Political
Or if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS.
Barack Obama took a question from a worker who wanted to know about taxes. He then spent 17 minutes answering her question. Twenty-five hundred words later, he was done and no one knew what he said:
Toward the end of a question-and-answer session with workers at an advanced battery technology manufacturer, a woman named Doris stood to ask the president whether it was a “wise decision to add more taxes to us with the health care” package.
“We are over-taxed as it is,” Doris said bluntly.
Obama started out feisty. “Well, let’s talk about that, because this is an area where there’s been just a whole lot of misinformation, and I’m going to have to work hard over the next several months to clean up a lot of the misapprehensions that people have,” the president said.
He then spent the next 17 minutes and 12 seconds lulling the crowd into a daze. His discursive answer – more than 2,500 words long — wandered from topic to topic, including commentary on the deficit, pay-as-you-go rules passed by Congress, Congressional Budget Office reports on Medicare waste, COBRA coverage, the Recovery Act and Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (he referred to this last item by its inside-the-Beltway name, “F-Map”). He talked about the notion of eliminating foreign aid (not worth it, he said). He invoked Warren Buffett, earmarks and the payroll tax that funds Medicare (referring to it, in fluent Washington lingo, as “FICA”). Washington Post
People who want to obscure the issue use lots of words and say nothing.
Barack Obama is good at that.
