Another Reason NOT to Vote For Brown In MD

Anthony Brown is the Lieutenant Governor of Maryland and he is running to replace outgoing failure Martin O’Malley. Brown is a Democrat and he has pushed for typical liberal policies that hurt people and make them slaves of government.
Anthony Brown wasted MILLIONS of dollars on the Maryland version of the Obamacare website. It was an absolute failure and he owned it because that was his responsibility. The local media has not challenged Brown over this lack of leadership.
Brown’s largest assets, it seems, are that he is a veteran and he is a Democrat. These are the only things people seem to know about him because he does not spend time telling us what he will do. No, he spends time lying about his opponent.
Brown is a disgrace and an oath breaker. In a rare instance where Brown actually said something he would do it turns out that thing is to violate people’s rights. Brown was a big proponent of Maryland’s Draconian gun control laws. They violate the Constitution and they infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens and Brown, a veteran who swore to protect and defend the Constitution, is all in for the gun laws. Brown put an editorial in the Baltimore Sun stating that he would enforce the gun safety law.
First of all, the law is not about safety. It is about infringing. The law bans specific types of weapons incorrectly identified as assault weapons and it bans the sale or transfer of standard capacity magazines. The law does nothing for safety because it is not designed to make us safe. It is designed to control us.
It is moronic. Brown claims that assault weapons were banned. It bans the AR 15 (the most popular firearm in the country) if it has a standard barrel BUT if it has a heavy barrel one can purchase it and walk out of the store with it (after passing a background check). The HBAR is no less deadly than the one that is banned. The AR 10 is in the same boat as the HBAR and it fires a bigger caliber bullet. People can still buy magazines with capacities larger than 10 in other states and bring them here. There are probably hundreds of thousands of them (if not millions) in the possession of gun owners and they last a very long time.
Brown will violate his oath to uphold an unconstitutional law that infringes on OUR rights and he proud that he will do so.
Brown is a supporter of a woman’s “right” to an abortion and will do anything to make that as easy as possible while he works to restrict the God given right to keep and bear arms and only one of those two things is responsible for the death of millions of children (clue to liberals, it is not the firearms). He is a disgrace and he should NEVER be governor of Maryland.
Anthony Brown is weak. He is a disgrace as a politician and he is a disgrace to the uniform he once wore. He is liar and he is a loser. How he ever made it in the Army is beyond me. He is a liberal hack who is hell bent on continuing the liberal policies that have ruined Maryland.
Maryland barely survived the idiot O’Malley and his unconstitutional regime. The last thing we need is his idiot underling taking over.

Veteran’s Day 2007

Today we celebrate Veteran’s Day though tomorrow is the day it will be observed. The United States is a great country because it has a history of fighting for what is right and for joining others in fights for what is right. Leading the charge throughout history is the American Military and the great men and women who serve in the armed forces.
There is no draft today and yet men and women step up to the plate to fight the war on terror and to prosecute our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. These men and women are unsung heroes who are often forgotten until some crisis comes up requiring tough people to do violence on behalf of the protected.
We have the greatest military in the world and, unlike other nations we do not go around conquering countries and taking what they have for our selves. We help them out in their fight and we help them rebuild. Japan and Germany were conquered and yet they prosper today as allies of the US. Many others have us to thank that they still have a native language and that they have not become the property of another, stronger, nation.
Today we thank the men and women who give all for people they do not know in order to make this world a better place. We honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow countrymen. I read this definition of a Veteran at a site this morning: (Big Dog Salute to GM Roper)

American Freedom Festival

On November 10th the 4th annual American Freedom Festival will return to Washington DC (Dar Constitution Hall). The event is sponsored by the American Freedom Foundation which is a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation and was organized to honor veterans on America’s armed forces and to raise money and awareness for various veteran’s organizations. Special emphasis is directed to welfare and educations issues facing our vets who have been wounded in action.
This year Martina McBride and Darryl Worley are scheduled to perform. You can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster which you can do right at their site. If you are going to be in or near our nation’s Capitol on November 10th why not spend the evening paying tribute to our troops and listening to great music? Is there any better way to celebrate Veteran’s Day than by honoring our troops?

Let the Families Decide

The Flag folding ceremony of veterans has been around for quite some time. The meanings of the folds, not part of the Flag Code, have been read by veterans while honoring a fallen hero. Now there is an edict that the meanings of the folds are not to be read at veteran’s funerals at federal cemeteries because there was a single complaint about the words used when describing some of the folds. Here are the meanings ascribed to the 13 folds:
- Symbol of life.
- Symbol of our belief in the eternal life.
- In honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of our country to attain a peace throughout the world.
- Represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance.
- A tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”
- Represents where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
- A tribute to our armed forces.
- A tribute to the one who entered in to the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.
- A tribute to womanhood.
- A tribute to father.
- In the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- In the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.
- When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”
The problem seems to stem from the last few where God is mentioned and there is acknowledgment of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Someone who attended a military funeral took exception to these words and complained about them prompting the National Cemetery Administration to ban the words at all of the cemeteries it oversees. The Administration claims they are just trying to ensure uniformity but there can be no mistake that this edict is a reaction to the complaint.
The person who made this complaint seems to feel the funeral was all about him. The funeral is a ceremony honoring the dead and it is for the dead that we perform the ceremony. The ceremony is also to bring family and friends together in order to honor the life that was lost. One thing a funeral is not is a place for some self centered idiot to make a political statement.
Here is my idea. Why don’t we allow the families of the fallen to decide if they want the words read during the Flag folding ceremony? The families can see the words beforehand and decide if they want the words read. After all, the funeral is part of a benefit afforded a fallen member of the armed forces and it is in our best interests as a country to allow the families, not some bureaucrat or sensitive bystander, to decide.
This is just another example of certain people in our society trying to cleanse any mention of our Judeo-Christian history. It is a misapplication of the First Amendment which guarantees us freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. In any event, the decision should rest solely upon the family of the fallen and not on the whims of a bureaucrat trying to appease some malcontent.
Certain veteran’s groups have decided to ignore the edict. They fought for the right to free expression and they damn sure have the right, no the duty, to fight any assault upon our freedoms.
