Schumer Leaves Door Open For Trump Reversal On DACA
Jan 23, 2018 Political
Several weeks ago President Trump indicated that he would sign whatever immigration bill assisting the illegal children (young adults under DACA) Congress sends to him. He said they were to put it together and he would sign it. This caused a lot of angst among his supporters because it sounded like he had given away the store. The Democrats and the establishment Republicans could have put together a horrible bill and Trump, if he kept to his word, would sign it.
Democrats meanwhile, have been holding the budget hostage because of the DACA issue. The very Democrats who said they would never do such a thing when Republicans did it in 2013 (though Obamacare is a budget issue and DACA is not) and those very Democrats who were talking tough on immigration not so long ago (saying all the things they now say are horrible when Republicans say them) are trying to hold the budget hostage over DACA.
Chuck Schumer, the man whose face is what results when the foreskin is removed, has been allegedly negotiating on the budget but he tied DACA to any outcome. Chuck thinks it is his duty to make sure the illegal aliens covered under the unconstitutional Obama Executive Order are cared for and that their needs come above those of the American citizens. He figured the public would back him and his band of merry thieves should a shutdown occur.
On Friday an agreement could not be reached on the budget. More accurately, the continuing resolution. You see, the budget has been ready since September but there are no votes on it because people keep playing games. Since that is the case we have had about five CRs so far. If these cretins were required to vote on the budget AND ONLY the budget we could get that out of the way and then move on to other things like immigration reform.
Instead, Chuck Schumer held the budget hostage by pushing DACA into the equation. Schumer thinks he is in the majority because he basically said here are all the things we want and we will discuss what you want later. Republicans, obviously emboldened by Mr. Trump, stood their ground and said NO. They offered a number of things and then made the promise to vote on DACA as a clean bill. Democrats balked, nothing could be worked out and the government shut down. The Democrats tried calling this the Trump shutdown but their argument was negated when they claimed Trump had been silent during the past week. The Republicans were out in front and called it the #schumershutdown and that spread like wildfire.
Liberal pundits in the media wing of the Democrat party were showing old clips of Democrats (like Schumer) saying the opposite of what they are saying now and asked hard questions about why they shut down the government. Topping this off, Mr. Trump did not close parks and other areas that are open to the public (open space) like the petulant Obama did. People saw that Democrats were putting the needs of illegal aliens over the needs of American Citizens and they were not happy. It also stuck to Democrats that they placed illegals ahead of the men and women in our military.
I guess ole Schumer must have seen some polling that he did not like because he was running around like his ass was on fire and his head was catching to get a deal. He gave in to the original deal that he had declined not three days prior and a few other items (some Obamacare tax items) were thrown in to sweeten it for Republicans all for a promise to have the DACA issue wrapped up by February 8th. The government was shut down for three days. In reality it was a half of a regular workday by the time employees went to work to sign furlough papers and shut down their offices.
Schumer had even promised that he would put in 1.6 Billion Dollars toward the wall. His base went bat guano crazy and the illegals and their front groups were madder than all get out. Their trend of sell out Schumer must have hurt ole Chuck’s ego. He has since reneged on his promise of 1.6 billion dollars. He seems to think, as I stated, that he is in charge. What I see is a man who got his rear end handed to him as he got it from both sides and since he ended up so butt hurt he took his football and went home.
Here is what should happen going forward. The Turtle, Mitch McConnell, should exercise the nuclear option and bring up the budget for the entire year (working with the House of course) and force a vote on the budget. He can find whatever parliamentary tricks will allow him to do it with 51 votes. Once that is done he can Tell Schumer he promised (actually said he intended to) to have a vote on DACA so they can introduce legislation and have their vote after McConnell ensures his caucus will vote against it. Donald Trump, meantime, can threaten to veto any DACA immigration bill that comes to him and when Schumer complains about Trump changing his mind he can be reminded that he reneged on his 1.6 billion dollar pledge.
Schumer has left the door wide open for Donald Trump to veto or otherwise reject anything he wants.
We could actually have an immigration bill. It could find a way to re-vet the DACA folks here, get rid of those who are criminals (beyond the criminality of entering illegally), limit the program to only those who previously signed up, let them stay here on some special DACA card (has to be renewed every 3 years) but bar them from becoming citizens for 25 years, deny them any public welfare or other benefits and make them have continued monitoring so if they break the law they will be jailed and/or deported. Also add on to the bill that any other person found here who had not previously signed up for DACA will be deported. Tighten up our immigration laws to allow quicker deportation and mandatory use of e-verify and top that off with funding for the wall. One more provision that reduces the number of immigrants we will allow from other countries by the number of DACA vetted and issued guest cards each year until those on the roster are completely in the system and we have ourselves one fine bill.
Again, use whatever parliamentary procedures will allow them to pass it with 51 votes, make sure the House is on board and boom, we have immigration reform, funding for a wall and a muzzle on Democrats.
The question is, will Republicans get tough. They were pretty tough last week during the budget battle but will they really be tough? They need to meet with President Trump and develop a plan to run roughshod over the Democrats.
Lord knows Harry Reid was a low life weasel but he knew how to work the system to exact his will on the opposition. We need McConnell to read from that playbook…

A Glimmer Of Hope From McConnell?
Mar 9, 2015 Political
Mitch McConnell addressed the looming debt ceiling and said there would be no government shutdown and that the ceiling would be raised. Anyone who reads this blog regularly (and I know all three of you) know how I feel about the debt ceiling. We need to stop raising it and start lowering the amount of debt we have by cutting spending.
It is as simple as that even though liberals and big government RINOs will tell you that it is not easy and there is too much to pay for. The only reason there is too much to pay for is because they keep spending too much.
If your pipes in the house break and you have sewage piling up you don’t go to the top of the house and keep raising the ceiling. If you do you just end up with more crap. The sensible solution is to stop the crap from piling up and then get rid of it as quickly as possible.
In Obama’s time in office the national debt has doubled from 9 TRILLION dollars to 18 TRILLION dollars. Obama has accumulated more debt than all other presidents COMBINED. What do we have to show for this? Nearly 100 million people no longer participating in the labor force and around 50 million people on food stamps. We have an entitlement society full of people encouraged to live off the government (read the taxpayer) as a way of life.
Democrats built that (Obama made it worse).
McConnell gave a glimmer of hope with the debt ceiling issue. He said that they would likely attach legislation they want to pass to the debt ceiling bill. This is an action I suggested in an earlier post.
Here is what McConnell had to say:
Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican, said on the CBS program “Face the Nation” on Sunday that Republicans may try to attach some of their priorities to the debate but won’t force another shutdown showdown as it has in the past. Washington Times
The issue I have is he already gave in by stating there would be no showdown. He will likely push something they all agree on, pass it and slap themselves on the back while telling us what a great job they did. In reality the spineless will fold.
I think McConnell and Boehner need to put out what they want and start NOW to tell the public that they are going to do it and if Democrats block it THEY will be responsible for the shutdown. If he has to, since this is a BUDGET item he can make it so only 51 votes are needed. Then he can pass it and force Obama to veto.
Then the shutdown will be on Obama’s head.
This is what I would like to see but I lack confidence that these two so called leaders can muster the testosterone needed to do it. They can’t sack up because they lack a ball sack.

Brewer Vetoes SB 1062
Feb 26, 2014 Political
Governor Brewer of Arizona vetoed SB 1062 the bill that has been mischaracterized as an anti gay bill. The bill was labeled as one that would allow businesses to discriminate against gay people even though the bill does not mention gay people.
The bill allowed a business to not participate in any event that would violate the religious beliefs of the business owner. This is different than discrimination. In fact, forcing a business to participate is discrimination against the business because it forces the business to participate in something that it is opposed to.
Let us make sure the difference is spelled out. If an individual goes into a business whose owners are pro choice and wears a pro life shirt the business would discriminate if it refused to serve the person because that person is not asking or forcing the business to participate in her particular belief.
However, if that very pro life person was holding a right to life event and asked the pro choice business owner to cater the event the business is free to refuse because that would be participating in an event contrary to the owner’s beliefs. If the pro life person then sues and the business is forced to participate by the courts then the business was discriminated against.
This is what SB 1062 was designed to prevent. We have all heard the stories about the intolerant gays who sued because a business refused to photograph or bake for their wedding. This is where the problem lies. The people who oppose the bill believe that they have a right and you do not have the same right. You see, they are free to choose to live a certain lifestyle and you are free NOT to participate but they do not see it that way.
This in no way means you have a right to discriminate against the individual for his beliefs. You do have a right not to participate in their events if you are opposed to them.
I believe Jan Brewer folded under pressure from the NFL and other entities that threatened to pull out of the state. The NFL was working on moving the Superbowl to Tampa because of this issue.
Let me be clear. It is now time to remove the NFL’s tax exemption because it is involving itself in political issues. It has done so in the past and their extortion continues. If they can hold the Superbowl over the head of states for political issues what will stop them from refusing to have the SB in states that honor the Second Amendment? They have involved themselves in politics and now their tax exempt status has to go.
I also want to be clear on another thing. I am not an Arizonan and this bill is not my issue. I do not believe the bill should have been introduced because I do not believe it should be necessary.
We have the right to free association and we have the right to NOT participate in anything we oppose (whether it is religious belief based or otherwise). We should not need a law to exercise that right.
Unfortunately, the recent cases where business owners have been forced to participate in things they oppose has given rise to the push for such legislation.
As a nation we need to stand up to tyranny and to say no when we do not want to participate. If a business does not want to participate in an event it has the right not to. There are plenty of other businesses who will be happy to participate.
Lawsuits based on refusal should be thrown out as frivolous.
When the inevitable lawsuit happens because some person or group gets upset at some business in Arizona that refuses to participate in something they disagree with Jan Brewer needs to be the one held accountable.
As should the courts because they must refuse to hear these cases.
We do not need laws to allow us to exercise our rights. We do though, need laws to keep people from infringing upon them.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Hillary Finally Takes a Position
Nov 14, 2007 Immigration, Political
Hillary Clinton finally took a position on issuing driver’s licenses to ILLEGALS (she calls them undocumented) by declaring that she agrees with New York Governor Spitzer’s decision not to issue them. Hillary sort of supported his position when he was going to issue them, then said no, then say yes and left it at a maybe. Since Spitzer has finally decided the Hildabeast figured it was OK to take a stand. She also indicated that, as President, she will not issue driver’s licenses to ILLEGALS and that she will fix the immigration problem in America.
The President is not the person to fix these things. Congress is the body that is supposed to come up with bills that address these kinds of issues. After it is worked out it is sent to the President to be signed into law. The President can tell Congress how he wants things and they can work together but the biggest thing the President gets to do is sign it into law or veto it. Hillary Clinton will have little success with immigration if the Congress does not act. She had a better chance of doing something as part of the Senate and yet I can’t seem to find any bills she has authored to address the problem. The only thing she has done is criticize GOP efforts to toughen criminal laws regarding ILLEGALS and blame the Bush administration for a problem caused by Democrats long before he ever took office. In fact, Bush and Congress tried to ram amnesty down our throats and Hillary voted for that plan. She wants to give them licenses but not until she gives them amnesty. Hillary Clinton votes to help ILLEGALS.
I am sure this is not the last we have heard on this issue. If a poll comes out in a few weeks indicating that Hispanics are supporting another candidate and they cite this stance as the reason, Hillary will change faster than you can shake a stick.

Wayne Gilchrest Must be Voted Out
Oct 20, 2007 Political
Wayne Gilchrest is the Congressman who represents Maryland’s 1st Congressional District. Gilchrest is a Republican but he has been a disgrace to his party and to the voters of his district. I have documented Gilchrest’s poor voting record and the number of liberal issues that he agrees with. It is beyond me why this guy even runs as a Republican when he is pro choice, and is involved in things that are not conservative.
Recently, Wayne Gilchrest voted to override the President’s veto of the huge expansion of S-CHIP. Let us make that clear, the President vetoed a huge expansion of the program. His veto did not get rid of the program and there are still plenty of services out there for poor people. Wayne Gilchrest voted with Democrats to override this veto and in so doing indicated that he feels it is OK to spend taxpayer money on insurance for people who make 3 or 4 times the poverty level. This should surprise no one because Gilchrest is not a fiscally prudent. He spends like a drunken sailor on shore leave and he continues to waste taxpayer money. He even voted against stripping earmarks (PORK) from the FY 2008 Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill. To Wayne it is OK to spend our money with little or no regard to being prudent with how it is spent.
Andy Harris is running against Gilchrest in the Republican primary. I have been talking to family and friends in the 1st District and I believe I have a lot of people who are looking for change and are ready to dump Gilchrest and put Andy in Office. If you are in Maryland’s 1st Congressional District you need to take a look at Wayne Gilchrest’s voting record and you will rapidly see this is a record to run from, not on. Andy Harris is the future of our District and we need him to take Conservative leadership to DC and replace that milquetoast RINO Gilchrest.
I have a list of things to accomplish and on it is “send a letter to Wayne Gilchrest after his defeat.” I really want to check that one off after the Republican Primary. I hate to have to go to my fall back plan of voting for the Democrat in the General election but I absolutely will not vote for Gilchrest no matter what. All my readers in the 1st, please vote for Andy Harris.
Wayne, enjoy it now because you will soon be a lame duck.
