The Last Refuge of Scoundrels & Democrats- Racism

As the Resident increasingly loses control of his health care debacle, and after seeing the crowd in the Mall on last Saturday, probably losing control of his bowels as well, the rest of the progressives have stepped up their strident defense of this Socialist in Chief, all while he hides behind Axlerod and Emanuel.

First up at the plate- Maureen Dowd, the perpetual screecher who has made her career on the back of President Bush, with her patented “woman scorned” vituperation. She always sounded like Bush had told her she was too ugly to be anyone’s date.

On Joe Wilson’s outburst in the Halls of Congress during the Resident’s speech, she claimed that (out of thin air) she could hear in Wilson’s words the phrase, “You lie, Boy!”

Wow- although this is not the first time she has made up out of thin air lies and distortions (she has a delusional problem- she thinks she can write), the progressives have had a group hug and midnight memo moment, and decided that the best way to  fight the conservatives is to shout charges of “Racism” whenever any issue is raised concerning the Resident.

The famous first Socialist in Chief, Jiminy Carter, has weighed in on the issue, even though he has had Old-timer’s Disease since the Hostage Crisis in ’79. It is his feeling that people are having a hard time with a Black man in the Presidency. Not so- we have a hard time seeing someone SO  incompetent in the Presidency, and believe me- he IS  incredibly incompetent– but you can view Carter’s comments here:

 http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/09/15/carter_claims_there_is_racist_tone_against_obama.html

And of course, you can count on good old professional tax cheat Charlie Rangel weighing in on the racist angle, but then he is desperately trying to keep the Ethics committee off his butt for failing to file tax returns on approximately one million dollars he “forgot” about- really? Charlie, Charlie, Charlie- you write the tax code here– you are in charge of the committee that actually is supposed to understand the tax code, and you maintain you didn’t know? Oh, Please!

Now Congressman Hank Wilson, of Georgia, seems to think that white hoods will be in vogue again- really? Rep. Wilson is black, and he does live in Georgia, but not, apparently in the 21st century.

Making an obvious reference to the Ku Klux Klan, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will be putting on “white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside” if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example.

Hours later, the House passed a resolution to formally admonish Wilson, who bellowed “You lie!” as President Obama delivered a health care reform address to a joint session of Congress last Wednesday. House Democratic leaders had decided days ago to move forward with the measure if Wilson did not apologize on the House floor.

But although Wilson was widely condemned by colleagues on both sides of the aisle for breaching protocol, some went a step further and accused Wilson of being racially motivated.

“He did not help the cause of diversity and tolerance with his remarks — if I were a betting man I would say it instigated more racist sentiment,” Johnson said Tuesday. “And so I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside intimidating people. … That’s the logical conclusion if this kind of attitude is not rebuked, and Congressman Wilson represents it. He’s the face of it.”

Martin Luther King surely must be rolling in his grave so hard seismic indicators can pick up his movement- one would think that we had gotten beyond name- calling, but the memo went out, ” On the count of three, we will ALL shout “racism”- that will scare the conservative boogeyman,” when all we conservatives, independents, and increasingly, democrats who are uneasy at the trashing of our Constitution are doing, is assessing the content of the Resident’s character, and finding him to be incredibly lacking. Still, the attacks go on.

Johnson seemed to reference the protests held in Washington, D.C., on Saturday in making his claim. While many protesters were there to demonstrate against big government and federal over-spending, Johnson argued that a “fringe” element is motivated by race and that Wilson “winked” at that fringe with his behavior.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote in her column Sunday that Wilson’s outburst convinced her that racial angst is the underlying motive among Obama critics like Wilson.

“I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer … had much to do with race,” she wrote. “But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted ‘liar’ at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.”

Dowd wrote that Wilson “clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.”

foxnews.com

Oh please! Brainy president? Spare me the unquestioning slavish devotion here- brainy? Not hardly- and Mz. Dowd obviously was doing drugs when Rep. Stark, a Democrat,  called President Bush a liar on the floor of the House twice- and got not even a mild rebuke- Which means that the standards of behavior vis a vis the two parties is waaaaaaaayyyyyy different- Conservatives are supposed to adhere to civilized standards, while the Democrats, and their moonbat “progressive” cohorts are seemingly permitted to act like spoiled children here.

Children who chant their new word ad nauseam because they know it drives the adults here crazy-

“Racist, racist, racist….”

That’s all they’ve got-

“Congressman Wilson’s outburst during the joint session was a breach of decorum and brought discredit to the House,” the aide said.

Wilson brought discredit to the House–what a crock of lunacy. When is Nancy and Reid going to vote to censure themselves. They discredit the House and all Americans everyday.

This is a good article and one I think some of the conservative Republicans have tried to abide by but as some other pundits have said, they are taking a knife to a gunfight and losing every time. They are opposing what should be opposed and getting called the “party of no,” and the party that won’t cooperate. And you know as well as I that once some name sticks… At least right now according to some polls the words “liberal progressive,” have a bad connotation to a lot of people and the word conservative and Republican is actually getting better.

  3. FairestWitness says:

Labeling the majority of Americans, who oppose Obama’s socialist agenda, racists is just plain stupid. It won’t work.

President Obama is half white. By these ridiculous standards, that makes the minorities who support the President, “Uncle Toms.”

Just cut this crap out! THIS IS NOT ABOUT HIS RACE. We don’t agree with him, his agenda, his goals! We reject his plans! Not his race!

    • Blake says:

Yes, I know- but that seems to be the fallback position for progressives who can not explain why their mess-iah does traitorous things.
Much like the Catholic Church of old, the cry of “blasphemer!” becomes “Racist” now, but the intent to shut down debate with the use of this word is basically the same.

  4. Adam says:

I keep the same stance on this as always. Stop being racists and we’ll stop calling you out on it. It’s a simple solution to an ugly problem you keep trying to sweep under the rug.

    • Mike Radigan says:

      Adam:

I keep the same stance on this as always. Stop being racists and we’ll stop calling you out on it. It’s a simple solution to an ugly problem you keep trying to sweep under the rug.

And you base this on what? What a load of crap. I only wish J.C. Watts would run for Prez, then we would see who’s the racist. Oops, then that would be you.

      • Adam says:

I’m sure we’d just call him an Oreo cookie like we did with Michael Steele. Oh wait, that never happened. That was yet another case where the Republican media duped a bunch of people into believing a lie so that they could to make it seem like Democrats only like black politicians that are Democrats…

        • Blake says:

You never had dogs sicc’ed on you, or police with rubber hoses filled with bird shot that they would use- I have had that- I have had friends of color I sat in jail with, but you know what? It was DEMOCRAT politicians who caused that to happen, not Republicans.
Between that and Jiminy Carter’s ball-less defense of our Embassy, I vowed never to vote Democrat again.
          I got smart.
          When will you?

        • Adam says:

I think Republicans in their “We freed the slaves!” mentality fail to realize that time passes. We have to ask the party of the Southern Strategy just what have you done for civil rights lately?

        • Blake says:

We oppose you progressives who would like everyone to take a pay cut, just so everyone is equally poor- ooooh- now THERE’S an intelligent strategy.

        • Blake says:

I would like to ask YOU what have you done to lay it on the line? How have you improved civil rights in America lately? Ever?

        • Adam says:

          I voted for Obama!

        • Adam says:

No, but seriously, my question was more about what Republicans and conservatives as a movement in general have done, not just you yourself as an individual. I see you are proud of what you’ve done for civil rights and that’s good.

I enjoy debating race issues because of the racial climate I grew up around in the South and the places I’ve lived in the last decade such as Little Rock AR and the Tenderloin region of San Francisco where you can see on every corner the affect that public policy can have on race issues and poverty in general. I make no claims to have accomplished anything serious through activism, specially not in the area of civil rights.

I’m most concerned with environmental issues in my activism, for the record.

        • Blake says:

Republicans and conservatives in general are all for providing the opportunity to succeed- no matter your color- success is and always will be the measuring stick in this society- Conservatives offer the chance to succeed- the last thing we want is a captive or oppressed segment of society, unlike the Democrats, who only pay real attention to poor people when they want the peoples vote- and otherwise won’t mingle with poor people- It’s like the Hollywood libtards, who will throw money at the masses, but who will never get down with the real people.
Conservatives do not want to hold anyone down- it is detrimental to the success of this country to do so.

    • Blake says:

There he goes again- you have NO idea of what real racism is- you are too young for that, pup- but I do- and I fought for equality before you were a gleam in your mama’s eye, so do NOT try to lecture me on racism.
That’s like the blind trying to describe colors to me. You have no idea.

    • Bill Jones says:

“calling you out on it”…where have we heard THAT before? Seems Adam is following lock step with Obama’s marching orders.

  5. Mike Radigan says:

    Adam>

But to answer you question, Mike:

I don’t know Watts and it would depend on who Watts was running against.

So it’s OK for you to vote on issues, but not me? Can’t have it both ways, Adam. Either you’re a racist or I’m not a racist.

    • Adam says:

I really don’t know what you’re talking about. I never said nor do I believe that voting against Obama was racist. I voted against Obama in the primary. My only stance is that there are true examples of racist opposition to Obama and it’s wrong for folks to pretend otherwise in order to make it seem like liberals call any opposition to Obama racist without merit.

      • Mike Radigan says:

        Adam>

Easy to say after you accuse every conservative on here as racist for the sole reason they are against Obama’s policies.

For the record I voted for Obama for the Senate, but more as a vote against the other guy as I don’t like carpetbaggers. And I would have voted for him if Ryan had stayed in the race as he had too many personal issues.

Not to over simplify, but I’m against Obama as Prez because I’m against his policies. I think his ideas are much too costly and will adversely affect all social stratums. And in the process we are losing are liberties. Fewer liberties and costs we cannot absorb are not what I want for the country.

      • Adam says:

You’d have to find me a spot where I seriously called somebody a racist on this site simply for their opposition to Obama. Lately I’ve taken to calling Blake and Big Dog racist as a joke because it makes them cranky, so you’ll have to learn to disregard some of that as stupid sarcasm.

      • Blake says:

Calling either Dog or me racist though, is a kneejerk liberal reaction, because you cannot find a place or phrase where we were racist- ever- and so that becomes just a liberal way of deflecting the argument when you are losing, and that is very dishonest in a debate.
Ad hominem attacks such as those are what we have been subjected to more and more lately, from ALL quarters of the progressive side.

  6. Adam says:

And bonus goes to the person who can tell which of those links I posted got Republicans in hot water for being involved in.

    • Blake says:

What links? The Nobama commemoratives? I would bet the Aborigine- I have that pic on my fridge- it is a great use of photoshop, done very well, and as satire, it works.

  7. Adam says:

But again, I have no problem with people having legitimate beefs with the president. My history of opposition to Bush would make me a hypocrite if I felt any other way.

But let’s look at conservatives have attacked him for:

No suit jacket in the oval office even though many presidents have done this…

Bowed to a foreign king not out of respect but because he’s a secret muslim…

Has to release yet another birth certificate because his first one isn’t real enough…

Wants a nazi army of kids even though he’s only beefing up community service groups that we’ve had for years…

Has communist czars in his cabinet even though he’s not the first to have czars and they’re not exercising any unchecked power…

Hates the state of Israel just because he doesn’t believe they are completely faultless in the mess the two states have created…

Coddles terrorists somehow even though he’s ordering attacks on them as we speak…and pirates…resulting in their deaths…

Hates white people even though he’s half white and his family was white…

I could go on and on listing all these insane things that Big Dog and Blake and commenters on this site go on and on about without substanial evidence or reason or even real common sense. Throw in all these ignorant uninformed nutjobs from the 9/12 rally and you really have to start to wonder.

Are these people just void of the facts or do they have a darker reason for this behavior lurking just below the surface?

    • Blake says:

I do not care about a jacket, on or off-do not care about the BC, (but it drives YOU insane)-yeah, you can call a Nazi army “community service groups” if you wish, I understand it’s code in progressive circles- He does have Communist Czars in his cabinet- and he does hate the state of Israel- and lastly, I DO think he has “Issues” with his “whiteness”- could it be self-loathing racism? I do not know, but something’s there- it might be mommy abandonment issues- am not a head shrinker, so I can’t say.

    • Blake says:

ere is a good rebuttal of all that demmies charge, when they shout racism-

  8. victoria says:

I read an article over at Big Lizards entitled,”Democrats, Joe Wilson, Maureen Dowd, and the “R” Word.” I have always wondered how they get “racism” out of objecting to Obamas policies and agenda. Well I get it now.

“Democrats cry racism when Republicans don’t extend affirmative action to Barack Obama; when we don’t treat him as different and special — when we don’t give him extra deference not extended to George W. Bush (or even to Bill Clinton) — when we don’t cut Obama more slack. That is, when we don’t devote our political capital to helping Obama succeed in all his leftist policies, regardless of whether we as individuals support them (unimportant), that itself constitutes racism.”

  9. Barbara says:

Adam, Adam, you are such an unhappy person. I suggest you get the speck out of your own eye before you call us racist.

  10. Adam says:

Bill Jones: “…what have Democrats done for Civil Rights EVER?”

Blake: “Republicans and conservatives in general are all for providing the opportunity to succeed …. unlike the Democrats, who only pay real attention to poor people when they want the peoples vote…”

Victoria: “I have always wondered how they get ‘racism’ out of objecting to Obamas policies…”

Never trust Republicans when they’re revising history on civil rights and racism in the modern era. They love totally ignoring the Republican party’s Southern Strategy and their absorption of the racist block of voters that defected from the Democratic Party in the South after the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Remember, MLK was a Republican…even though he only ever supported and voted for Democrats…

  11. Blake says:

Adam, we both know there are fringe elements in both sides- but if you insist on lumping us with the fringe, then why should we not do the same thing with you?

  12. Adam says:

Your post tries to ignore race based attacks on Obama and in your comments you try to reduce them to just fringe elements. Yet, when you examine all the apparently non-racial attacks on Obama that have absolutely no basis in reality we’re left to assume that, given the growing list of clearly race based attacks on Obama, there is something darker and more sinister behind most of your attacks.

    • Blake says:

Sorry to disappoint- I don’t do dark and sinister- I will leave that to the Emanuels.
And you libtards love to use the word in an attempt to shut down dissent, but it really doesn’t bother me- I know that you all use it when you run out of intellectual ammo.

      • Adam says:

Right. Conservatives know a thing or two about words that shut down dissent. Like, traitor, anti-American… …

        • Blake says:

Yes, we do- and I will freely admit we should not use those words- however, those are the “hitback” words we use.
Perhaps, (and we tried this once before) if we tried yet again to keep our discourse civil, we might actually find a point or two to agree on.
At least we can agree we are all being uncivil.

        • Adam says:

My favorite way people shut down dissent is saying things like “If you don’t agree with such and such then you should just find a new country…”

I had a guy actually take time to write me a hand written letter without knowing my actual home address that just chanced to make it’s way to me because size of the town I grew up in. The letter told me to go live in a mountain in Afghanistan if I didn’t like the way Bush was doing things and attached pages from a military book club magazine so I could wise up. Nice fellow…

In general I don’t mind it too much. Even when straying from the agreement some we do OK. We mock and chide and snipe in all kinds of ways but that’s OK. That’s just good fun that gets taken too far sometimes but hopefully most of us are here for fun and for personal reasons and don’t expect to change anybodies minds much…because that’s not happening most of the time.

        • Blake says:

Unfortunately true- I for one need good, common sense proof, and you all haven’t done that for me- ah well, perhaps- hope springs eternal.
