The Time Has Come To Stand Up and Be Counted

Thirteen hours to go until the polls open on the East Coast and many races are still a toss-up. Democrats are poised to take control of the House and possibly the Senate. They have been encouraged by polls showing that they hold a lead over Republicans and they feel their time is now. The Democrats have not been in power since 1994 and they are hungry and they hope their hunger combined with dissatisfaction among Republicans will spell victory when the polls close tomorrow.
Some recent polls indicate that Republicans are closing some of the gaps and that some races have gone from leans Democrat to toss-up. This has worried some Democrats yet they remain confident that they can run the table and sweep into power. They have been fairly successful at running against George Bush and against the Republican Party but have offered little in the way of substance. They have no plan other than to criticize the way things are currently going. They conveniently forget that while some of the Republican’s problems are self inflicted many things have failed to materialize because the Democrats (those who are elected) have opposed anything that the Republicans have tried to accomplish. They have made it so that the Republicans have to fight the war on terror overseas as well as at home. People like Murtha, Kerry, and Pelosi are chomping at the bit for a chance to cut and run from the fight, a strategy that will surely embolden our enemies and lead to more attacks.
Tomorrow is the day that Republicans can set a clear path for the future. We as a people have control of the destiny of our country and we can effect change in this government but first we need to ensure that we keep control of both houses. The Democrats can not beat us if we all show up and vote. They can not win if we stand up and ensure that we are counted. Staying home or voting for the other party as a symbol of protest is harmful to us as a party and to our country as a whole. The Democrats will hurt us when they are in power and a year from now I would not want to be sitting at home lamenting over how bad things have gotten and wishing that I had voted or voted for the Republican.
The choices we make tomorrow are effective for two years until we get to vote again but the consequences of a loss can last for generations. Allowing the Democrats to take control of our country at this pivotal time in our history will lead to disastrous results and will last well past future elections. If we give up control tomorrow we will be sending a clear signal to the terrorists who believe that they can outlast us and boot us out of Iraq and Afghanistan much as they booted the Russians out of Afghanistan and us out of Somalia. Though there is enough blame to go around the simple fact is the cowardice of the last administration with regard to Somalia emboldened our enemies and gave us 9/11. If we lose our will again it will confirm their belief that we are a paper tiger and they will increase their attacks. Remember, the stated goal is to destroy America and if we allow the Democrats to gain control we will have helped the enemy effect our destruction.
I urge every Republican to get out to the polls tomorrow and to vote for our party. I know that they have let us down in some areas and we can address that in other venues. If we hurt them by voting them out we will in effect be hurting ourselves. We will, to use a cliche, be cutting off our noses to spite our faces. We can not and must not allow our country to fall into the hands of the likes of Kerry, Murtha, and Pelosi or we will have signed our own death warrants. When the dust settles and we still have control, then it will be time to address our grievances with our elected leaders. If we vote them out, we will not have the chance to change anything because the Democrats will ruin us. From the war on terror to judicial nominees, the Democrats will ruin this country and hand us over to the enemy and back up their schemes with activist judges. Besides, the terrorists want them to win and that should be enough to keep them out of the majority.
My plan calls for us to reelect our Republicans and then we start a grass roots campaign to let them know what we expect from them. They will have two years to straighten out their acts or we vote them out in the 2008 PRIMARIES. Then we can still vote in Republicans but they will be fresh faces with fresh ideas. In order to get to that point we need to keep them in office right now. We elected George Bush to lead us and though he has let us down in some areas we owe it to him to, once again, give him the people he needs to effectively govern this country.
GET OUT TOMORROW AND VOTE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT BECAUSE IT DOES!
