Troops not Impressed with Obama

It would seem that the troops in Iraq were not impressed with Barack Obama. Many of them did not care for him before he ever got there and went out of their way to avoid being near him while he was in Iraq. The Gateway Pundit has a post up describing the situation in Iraq where very few soldiers support Obama and how he had little regard for them as well. We already know he blew the wounded soldiers off but he was just as dismissive of the troops in the field.

95% of base wanted nothing to do with him. I have met three troops who support him, and literally hundreds who regard him as a buffoon, a charlatan, a hindrance to their mission or a flat out enemy of progress. Even when the rumors were publicly admitted, almost no one left their duty sections to try to see him, unless they were officers whose presence was officially required.

Perhaps Obama had other things on his mind like having a press conference in front of the British Prime Minister’s place without the the Prime Minister present.

Whatever the reason, Obama is not winning the troops over and it is highly unlikely that he will get a large portion of that vote. Of course he probably does not have to worry about it since the Democrats disenfranchise soldiers in nearly election. They are working hard to keep them out this year as well.

Blackfive published an email from a soldier who was not impressed with Obama and the way he treated the troops and now we have another report from the front line. There in a consistent theme here and it is that the troops recognize a phony who does not support them when they see one.

As a Disabled American Veteran, I am sad to see BO skip out on deserving troops heeling in the hospital. He could have gone in by himself, sat with a few of the soldiers, talked with them. He could have reassured them that we are all behind them, and that they have done a fine job. In the end, he didnt do that. He didnt do that because he doesnt care. He is all about the photo-op. He is all about himself.

Shame on you BO, Shame on you.

“Troops in Iraq were not impressed with Barack Obama”.

Obama is impressed with them. That’s why he supported the new GI Bill. John McCain did not.

    PEACE

  3. Reason says:

McCain actually didn’t vote on that bill, nor any other bill on May 22, 2008. Perhaps because he wasn’t in Washington?

  4. Bunny Colvin says:

Perhaps he wasn’t in Washington because he knew voting nay on said bill would have been a huge blunder. So instead, he supported a different bill which was not so benefical to our brave men and women in uniform. John McSame does not support the troops, just like W.

  5. Big Dog says:

Actually, the bill was a bad bill that was laden with pork. The Democrats introduced it with the “problems” and hoped Republicans would vote against it so their votes could be used against them in an election year.

When it looked like the bill might actually pass the donks loaded it with pet projects and ran the cost of it up. If I were there I would have voted against it because veterans deserve better.

This is the difference between those who do things for political expediency and those who do what is right.

It also allows us to see who the DNC parrots are. The left cares little about our vets and they are just an inconvenient obstacle to Obambi.

McCain wanted a better bill. If he were president he would have vetoed it because of the pork. Maybe if the Donks could actually do what they said and run an open and honest Congress we could get things done. They still have not passed a budget.

  6. Bunny Colvin says:

No, the Democratic bill was clearly better. John McSame voted against it because in his infinite wisdom, he decided that the Dem bill gave “too much” funding for our vets to go to college.

“This is the difference between those who do things for political expediency and those who do what is right.”

Yeah, because during the (r)epuke haydaze of 2001 thru 2006, when they controlled the House, Senate, and White House, there wasn’t any “pork” attached to any important bills. Only “democratic donkeys” do that. Please.

The Democratic Bill was not better. Or should I say, it is a matter of opinion. The sticking point for some was the time served requirement.

However, I only told you why McCain would not support it because it was loaded with pork. I would not deny that members from both parties are laden with lard, but McCain is not one of them. He might have voted for bills with pork in the past but he did not like this bill and he did not like the pork.

We could debate which is better but there were much better versions. We got the Dem version because they wanted to play politics.

You can call it what you want but to say McCain did not vote for it because he does not care for the troops is dishonest. He knows more about service than Obama ever will and he knows what a good GI Bill is when he sees one.

While we are on it, how about Obama in Europe talking about his committee voting on a bill and he is not on the committee and he did not cast a vote because he was not there.

Clinton and Obama rushed in to vote for the GI Bill to play politics and show they could be CIC and take care of troops. BTW, Ted Kennedy did not vote either. What does it say about him?

  8. Bunny Colvin says:

Ted Kennedy? Are you seriously asking me this? Did Scottie get your login? Dog, don’t you think it is possible that Ted Kennedy might have been in the hospital that day? I mean, he has a lot going on in his life right now.

Is the man a Senator or not? If he is too sick to do his job then he should resign.

However, he was not too sick to fly to DC just to vote on the reimbursement of Medicare bill. He was there to kick that can down the road and then promptly went back to MA. If he cared about the troops he would have been there just like he was when his buddies needed him for the win.

  10. Bunny Colvin says:

Jim Bunning is obviously sick. He clearly lacks the mental capacity to do his job properly, Should he resign?

  11. Big Dog says:

If he is not showing up to do his job. Honestly, if they would all resign we could pick the first 100 people going into Wal Mart and put them in there and they would do a better job.

Point is, if Teddy can drag his sick butt down for one vote he can be there for them all.

  12. Bunny Colvin says:

“Honestly, if they would all resign we could pick the first 100 people going into Wal Mart and put them in there and they would do a better job.”

I don’t necessarily disagree with this statement. But I must ask, would you say the same of the Senate of 2002-2006?

Bunny Colvins last blog post..Are these boots made for walkin’?

  13. Big Dog says:

It would be OK if we did that for any Senate over the last 40 years or so.

I wouldn’t even try defending the Pelosi-Reid Congress.

Your blog entry does not include any real facts here. You have a link to a bias blog which itself provides no proof for this assumption. You also have hearsay evidence from one soldier. Your case would gain considerable credibility if you actually showed some facts.

I have provided two links to two articles regarding your assumptions from nonpartisan, nonprofit voter advocacy organizations.

  17. Big Dog says:

    Sal,
Interesting that the article says no press was planned but the stories talk about the entourage following him. Obama said it would look like a campaign stop. How so if he went alone?

The facts are pretty clear. Obama could have visited the troops if he went with his Senate staffers. He chose not to go. There is never ANY reason not to visit the troops especially if you said you were coming.

There were 323 donations out of what, 150,000 troops serving and how many that have been there and back? The article states not to read too much into it for a reason.

How much do you suppose they have both received from ALL veterans?
