Watch For The Insidious Tax Increases
by Big Dog on Jun 20, 2009 at 23:59 Political
The Democrats are working on a health care plan for Obama who wants it done this year. They want this done very quickly because the longer they mess with it the longer the American public has to see what it really involves. Once people start kicking the tires and looking under the hood they will not like what they see.
Republicans have been shut out of the process and Democrats have reported they were told NOT to work with Republicans on this issue.
This is all on the Democrats and what they will do is triple even what Obama wanted to spend and they will raise taxes on everyone. The Democrats are not willing to say this and they are trying to hide it until they can push this through because they know higher taxes are not popular. Like Carlie Rangel said, they want to get the particulars out but not the taxes so people become happy with the plan. Then they will mention the taxes. They don’t want any negative press on it.
The Democrats are looking at a number of ways to tax YOU. They will tax everyone. Here are some things under consideration (this is not all inclusive):
The tax options include:
– Increasing the price of soda and other sugary drinks by 10 cents a can.
– Applying a potential 2 percent income tax increase to single taxpayers earning more than $200,000 a year and households earning more than $250,000.
– A new employer payroll tax could target 3 percent of employers’ health care expenditures.
– Taxing employer-provided health insurance benefits above certain levels – a less likely option but one that still is in the running. My Way News
The second item is specific to people who make certain incomes and that would be about the upper 3%. There are not enough wage earners in this category to pay for the cost of health care.
The other three items involve everyone. If you consume cola or other sugary drinks, you would be affected. If you have employer provided health insurance you might have to pay taxes on 3% of it or on all of it. The government will require it to be reported as income and then tax you. You will pay taxes on your health care benefit in order to pay for someone else’s health care. Incidentally, this will cause many employers to drop health care for their employees and force employees into Obamacare, just like he wants.
Obama said he would not raise taxes on those making under certain levels (that number changed several times) but it looks like his Democrats are working on methods of taxing nearly everyone.
The article discusses the different taxing schemes and the dishonesty of the Democrats. Remember, Rangel said that they did not want to disclose the taxes because they would get negative attention. This article shows they are still intent on keeping quiet about the huge tax increases:
The draft, being released at a news conference of the chairmen of the three committees with jurisdiction – Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce, and Education and Labor – was not expected to mention the potentially unpopular tax options. [emphasis mine]
The Democrats are well on their way to outspending the last 8 years and they will do so in record time. In order to do that they need to obtain money so the question they will be asking is; “What’s in your wallet?”

Yeah- I have been saying for some time now that all of Hussein’s taxes would be the “hidden” kind- the VAT, the gas taxes, the sin taxes (on cigarettes, sugary drinks, fast foods), anything that they believe will generate money,
Whatever happened to repressive taxation, or lack of representation with regard to taxes?
I refuse to pay- plain and simple- I will avoid all taxes I can- I feel no urge to assist Hussein in his rush to the bottom of the Nation Food Chain.
The only upside to all of this is that now, no one will want to immigrate to this country.
They’ll not only say no, but hell no.
There are Mexicans foraging on the trash heaps of Mexico City, who say no thanks to immigrating here.

Are you kidding me? Obama is not only going to fix the health care problem (72% want a “public option” and they should get it), but he’s also going to fix the immigration problem at the same time?
What a guy!
D.
So, Blake I’m wondering when exactly you’ve been foraging on the trash heaps of Mexico city talking to the locals to have a remote clue about whether or not they would want to immigrate here? Or did you just pull that one out of thin air?
I’ve been to Mexico City and seen the Trash villages- have you , Tammy?
First of all my name is not Tammy, Jake. And I’ve not just seen such villages in Mexico, I’ve also seen them in Brazil. I have traveled extensively in both countries.
Then you should know better.
I do.
I have worked closer with illegals than you ,T- Illegals are a bit of a specialty of mine, having worked alongside of them for 35 years. I’m a sixth generation Texan, and where we grew up, there were more Tejanos than Whites, so I know all about the problem. Even the Tejanos do not want these illegals, because the illegals take away the jobs the Tejanos want and need.
No, Blake I seriously doubt that you have worked closer with illegals than I have. In fact, by what you just stated it is not even possible. It actually is my specialty and not just a bit!
OOOh- we have yet another Darrel- he/ she has a specialty- so does Sav, and Darrel- and yes- I have worked with more than you. How you could take my statement and say it aint so is beyond me, but I have learned to not believe you all and your “specious specialties”.
I don’t think 72% of people want a public option. Maybe 72% of the uninsured.
He will have no better luck with amnesty than the others did.
We did the amnesty thing 3 times and were promised after each that we would never need to do it again because they will fix the problems. They never did.
No to all illegals. Jail time before amnesty. You break the law you pay.

They do:
“NY Times/CBS News Poll: Wide Support For Government-Run Option Competing With Private Insurers”
“The national telephone survey, which was conducted from June 12 to 16, found that 72 percent of those questioned supported a government-administered insurance plan — something like Medicare for those under 65 — that would compete for customers with private insurers. Twenty percent said they were opposed.”
“…the proposal received broad bipartisan backing, with half of those who call themselves Republicans saying they would support a public plan, along with nearly three-fourths of independents and almost nine in 10 Democrats.”
It’s all nicely laid out in this chart here.

This just in. McCain opines on Obama’s performance:
“McCain: Obama has ‘done well’ as president so far”
Sun Jun 21,
WASHINGTON – Sen. John McCain says his opponent in last year’s presidential campaign, Barack Obama, has “done well” in his first five months in the White House.
The Arizona Republican says that using a legislative scorecard to judge the presidency so far, Obama has achieved all his legislative goals.
On the down side, McCain says that Obama’s successes in Congress have come with little or no Republican support.”
AP Wire.
McCain lost the election, Hussein did not win it- there is a difference- he tried and succeeded to lose the election to a novice with NO experience and a questionable background and odious “friends”- oh boy- there goes the tingle up my leg- wait, it feels more like the bite of a venomous snake.
What about jail time for all the people that hire illegals? That’s the real problem. If they couldn’t work here the numbers would dwindle. In fact, in many countries to the south of us immigrants are enticed here to work by American companies wanting cheap labor.
I have advocated for fines of $10,000 per illegal to any employer who has them on the payroll.
I am all for punishing the employers who hire them but the ones who come here illegally must be punished as well. They are breaking the law just as the person who hires them is.
What about the people who hire illegal housekeepers and yard workers, but don’t exactly have them on the payroll? They just pay ’em under the table. Without hefty fines for them illegals will continue to come and prosper.
What about the people that are separated from their family and try to immigrate the right way only to find out that it will take 17 years? Tough beans for them I guess.
Unless you’ve spent a day in someone’s shoes who just wants to be able to live near their family but cannot, you shouldn’t judge them so harshly.

You mean like, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, the nation’s former top immigration official?

D.
Send the family back too- you are right, it would be cruel to separate them – just say no to anchor babies.
I would love to see jail time for all employers, and large fines also, because illegals have helped destroy the blue collar jobs Americans used to hold.
Yes let’s send everyone back to their original countries, but don’t stop with just this generation. Let’s keep going back until all the immigrants are gone and Texas is once again a Mexican territory.
This country was established by immigrants and now the people that were spawned by those same immigrants feel that they are the only ones with a right to be in this country, based on the lottery of their birthplace.

I have no problem with legal immigrants- what is your problem with “legal?” There are right ways and wrong ways to do these things and advocating for the wrong thing is NEVER right.
If we went back far enough, this would not be Mexican territory, nor French, but Indian, or farther back, noones. How far back do you wish to go?
This country was established by LEGAL immigrants, from everywhere- I do not have a problem with legal- That is what Tejanos are, in case you didn’t know.
We have a border for a reason- you might not like it, but it is a real thing, there for a real reason.
I’m not advocating for illegal immigration. I’m advocating a LEGAL option for family immigration which does not have insane waiting times. And no I’m not talking about anchor babies, the fact that the US recognizes these children as citizens is a whole different issue. I’m talking about adults with parents from two different countries that want to live near one of those parents that would have to wait 17 years to do so LEGALLY in this broken system. How is that a viable option?
So fix the process but that does not mean we dismiss illegal activity. Make people who broke the law pay for the crime. If a guy gets tired of waiting to get rich and robs a bank do we dismiss the crime because it takes too long to get rich?
This country may have been established by “legal” immigrants but they certainly were not from everywhere since only free white people were given the right to citizenship initially. There were many racist exclusions that were not eradicated until 1968.
Oh please, Tamara— at least be honest- this country has been evolving regarding immigration for years now, and it has not just been free white people” who have been granted citizenship- everyone, including the Irish, the Italian, the Poles, Indians, all have been subject to persecution and bigotry, so don’t even try to throw down on that- its dishonest to think that its all Whitey’s fault- that’s BS on a grand scale.
How many people polled, what was the breakdown and how scientific. Because other polls show people are opposed to it by more than 28% which means they could not approve at 72.
It is a NYT CBS poll. Who did they call and what were the questions? All this is important because these organizations favor it and they can frame the question to get the response they want.
Each and every one of these understandable questions are carefully answered in the article that accompanies the chart I provided.
You can read that article here:

The margin of error of this scientific poll is 3%, which fits nicely with your 28% claim.
I noticed that over half of the respondents were Hussein supporters, only a quarter of them were McCain supporters- kind of skewed, isn’t it?
1) Show this
2) If this is true, show it is “skewed.”
Since we know the general public self identifies as democrat at almost double the rate of republican (21/37 or so), how could this be controlled for and why would matter?
It doesn’t matter. The poll is a poll of Americans, not their political persuasion. I am sorry that so many people think your brand is dogfood.
D.
ps. Just kidding about that last sentence.
——————
“The House Republican brand is so bad right now that if it were a dog food, they’d take it off the shelf.” –Mark Davis, republican
Pew Research showed that the poll taken had over half identified as Obama supporters, while 23% WERE IDed as McCain supporters, with the rest as pitiful “I don’t know”, or “not sure” voters- which probably means they did not vote.
Both brands are dogfood. It’s just your brand of dogfood that is harming our country,
Much higher than 28%
Well if you have evidence for “much higher than 28%,” why do you say “28%” rather than this “much higher” number?
I fail to see how polling 895 people shows what the country is thinking. Was the sampling representative? I saw the numbers but don’t know.
I will wait and see because these organizations have polled before and skewed results to meet an agenda. Let a real polling organization come up with the results.
Good grief.
It’s a scientific poll that asked a question of a random sample of the American adult population. This gives it a:
“margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.”
Every detail of this poll can be read here, eleven pages:

Any other excuses for not accepting reality?

28% + 72% = 100%
No Tamara, let’s send the ILLEGAL ones back. That is the problem with you libs. You keep saying immigrant and leaving the ILLEGAL part off. We are all in favor of LEGAL immigration, just not the ILLEGAL stuff.
Anyone in favor of LEGAL immigration ought to be more interested in immigration reform. The problem is that it is next to impossible for most people to immigrate legally, yet a piece of cake to do it illegally.
Now, yes people should respect laws, but unfortunately the laws here in regards to immigration are basically unworkable. Particularly when it has to do with family immigration. If you are in favor of legal immigration you should be appalled at 17 year family waiting times.
I am constantly appalled at the government and how unwieldy it is- so should you, but you seem to be very selective in your belief of “unwieldy” government- if it is this bad regarding healthy people who wish to immigrate, imagine how unwieldy it will be with government healthcare- or do you believe the government will magically *change*?
