Will The Same Rules Apply?

A man in Maryland was sentenced to three years for slashing a dog’s throat.
Forty-four-year-old Lamont Coston was sentenced to three years in jail for an animal abuse case in Baltimore County where a German Shepherd was killed. The judge suspended all but 18 months. Coston will be spending the next year and a half in the Baltimore County lock-up. FOX 45 Baltimore
A Baltimore police officer slashed the throat of a dog and he did so when it was not necessary. The officer, Jeffrey Bolger, claims he did this to put the dog out of its misery after the neck loop, according to him, left the dog near dead. But as the story reports:
That statement about Bolger’s big heart heavily contradicts Bolger’s statement prior to the slashing where he was overheard saying “I’m going to gut this (expletive) thing.” The Free Thought Project
**The officer cleared in this story is the one that held the dog down. The one who slashed its throat awaits his day in court.
The officer will stand trial later and there are plenty of others who have condemned his action. The question is, will he receive the same punishment as Lamont Coston or will his cruelty to the animal be ruled as justified?
Officers should be held to a higher standard but that is rarely the case.
We will see how this all plays out. If I had to bet on it I would say he walks but stranger things have happened.
Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.
